Sup /tg/, /vp/oreon here.
As a big fan of the franchise who recently got into tabletop gaming, I started to look into the Homebrew Pokemon systems, they seem well and sound on paper, reading through these rulebooks, but how are they in practice?
Does anyone have any experiences to share with Pokemon Tabletop Adventures or Pokemon Tabletop United? Is one system better than the other for any reason? Are they both shit? Both decent?
Just looking to hear some thoughts before I go starting a game on roll20.
>500 page rulebook
>Stat sheets not only for your character, but for every caught Pokemon as well
>Supplements for fantasy and SciFi that are around 130 pages average
if a group was playing this IRL, it'd look like they were doing taxes when in reality they were just playing Pokemon.

What he said. You could probably have more fun with a Mystery Dungeon format.
PTA is shit, don't bother with it
PTU is super convoluted but playable, use at your own risk
Pokerole is another system, less convoluted for beginners but still, play with caution.
Pokemon pen and paper is a super light system and quick to set up, play it of you want bare bones
Pokecthlulu is also there, play if you are a faggot.
Have you ever mashed 2 or more different RPGs together into one setting?
Let's do some mashups:
>D&D + Call of Cthulhu = Call of the Dungeon, fantasy horror
>Star Wars + L5R = Legend of the 5 Orbitals, chinese space opera
>Warhammer 40K + Planescape = Planes of Heresy, interdimensional alien hunting

Years ago I mashed Toon and Call of Cthulhu together to run a 'Cool World' inspired game.
Huge personal army favor to ask /tg/.
Is there some way we can create cards on the fly in some type of shared virtual environment?
I need to get two players (two other people or me and one other person) in a discord or skype. and we need to have an open doc.
I literally have no friends.
I just want to see what I can do with this.
It's in my head too much?
Please help

Mural lets you do virtually sticky notes board.
>we had a blind wizard who groped the party to see them
Are there any systems that have the feel of a retro point and click adventure game, or something like the SNES Zeldas? OD&D just doesn't seem like it's going to cut the mustard here.
tl;dr: what are some good lightweight fantasy adventure rulesets?
Retrophaze is the closest you'll get
>>54108272
Thanks, but uh... if I'd wanted attribute+race+class I'd just stick with OD&D instead of one of the 500 knockoffs of the idea.
(FATE would be great because attributes are treated the same as skills, but I can't stand FATE points and don't particularly like aspects. It's too much a story/plot oriented system and not an adventure based one.)
Something like scrolls and swords?
I'm not on any wanted posters, so stat me /tg/.

Bump
Knees: weak
Palms: sweaty
Mom's spaghetti: on his sweater already
You could probably just use storm giants and scale down the size.
How does your character treat his or her slaves?
Slaves, bondsmen, thralls, indentured servants, call them whatever you like but he or she does own at least one, right? I mean anyone above the lowest commoner dreg can afford a slave.
My only character that owns slaves at the moment treats them decently at least.
He owns four slaves and makes them compete against each other for the position of Primo slave. The Primo gets better food and rest then the three others but is in turn responsible for making sure the three others do as they are told.
They mostly do menial labor and make sure the camp is nice and neat.

Saged.

Treats them all right, basically just gives them food and safety in exchange for some labor and help and advice. They've got a good deal of personal freedoms and rarely need anything too much.
Really, there's just no point in being cruel to them. That's just being a dick.
Hackmaster 5e, what can you tell me about it?
is it better than dnd 5e and 3.5?
can you do the same but better?
I'll save this thread.
I've been GMing it since it came out pretty much. Personally, the more I play it, the more I like it. I've tried 5th e and PF and they really don't compare.
It's hard to explain really. I've introduced it to about 20 something different players, all but 2 have fallen in love with it and refuse to play anything else.
It seems like a more complicated system than it actually is.A lot of it is really intuitive and I've found that it's easier to learn if you've never played an RPG before.
You'll feel a little punished by character creation at first but after 3 or 4 characters, you'll discover that rolling up a character is one of your favorite part.
Can't guarantee I'll be on later to answer any questions. I'd say you should take a look at the free rules and maybe pick up the full PDF.
Is Planescape the most Dharmic D&D setting, given such a focus on Saṃsāra and the factions that seek to overcome it?
>>54106471
Not enough poo in loo.
>>54106471
Yeah, I guess. It doesnt make it any more fun to play in. It mas as well be Numenon.
What's the most anticlimactic thing one of your players has done?
Here's mine:
>Two Ankegs (huge insectoids) bust out of the ground
>One PC walks alone, ahead of the party
>Asks: Do you speak common?
>Ankeg fucking screech
>Says in the most unconvincing and insincere voice possible:
>Perhaps you speak sword!
>Draws duel raipers
>Misses both
>Ankeg crits and rips him to shit
>Entire table keks for weeks
>"Perhaps you speak sword becomes a huge meme"
>Acting cool and saying oneliners as a martial in D&D
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>54106150
What's anticlimactic is the fact that this didn't happen

Greetings everyone. We have some things to discuss since it has been awhile since our last meeting.
On the list for topics proposed for discussion:
>Trade of weapon designs designed to work on superhero weaknesses.
>Added membership benefits (Discounts at military surplus, parking spaces for aircraft and water based vehicles)
>Someone keeps dumping dead minions in our garbage, and the janitors are getting pissed cleaning up the bloodstains
>Organization of the picnic being hosted by Dr. Dread
So my fellow villains, what is on your minds?
>>54106085
Secretary, why is there a g missing from 'Legion'? Damn it, is The Linguist fucking with our lettering again? Revoke his share of plutonium untill further notice.
I'm developing a game with a small company. Here is a poll to determine what people want to play.
http://www.strawpoll.me/13331566
Also, discussions are open for options not here.
Is it even possible to compete with 40k at this point?
>>54106886
Plenty of games do.
Going "Well what do people want to play?" is the wrong way, though. You start with a game you like and see if it catches on.
>>54106935
What would be the best way to go about this? By offering at conventions? Just throwing it up on kickstarter? Demos?
Looking at cost to produce without going bamkrupt.
We've got 2 prototypes that are very fun. And had some positive reviews. Now used about finding a way to get it out there for funding and production without going broke.
Funny ways you have beaten bosses
>Fighting against dark warrior no helmet
>Just been impaled on his blade but am still alive
>Win the strength check and land a critical
>Next the boss rolls a 1 after recoiling form the attack
>Trips and lands head first into his hilt
>Kills the boss and gives me a level up
Mfw
I'll start,
> Humanity is divided between those that cybernetically enhanced themselves but didn't tamper with their genetics, and those who genetically engineered themselves to the point they're different species entirely.
>>54105195
Their society is located on a planet sized worldcraft drifting through the void of of intergalactic space.
>>54105195
>The genetically engineered now prefer an aquatic lifestyle, living on the bottom of earth's oceans, while the cybernetically enhanced life primarily in orbit over the planet.
There are no files on what life was like before humanity's exodus from its home galaxy. There is no record of that time, not even the cause of the exodus.
As far as humanity is concerned, history began when they awoke long after their home had left galactic space.
