the regular ones are OK, GW should have just said "HEY check out our new Tactical Marines!" and not even mentioned that they are bigger just like "that's how we resculpted them bro". Spess Muhreen fags would leap at the opportunity to shit more money into GW's lap for the exact same fucking thing they already have (re: WH30k). Resculpts are not unprecedented, and if a whole crop of suckers has grown up without anything being resculpted, that's GW's fault for using the same goddamn sets for 10+ years like lazy shits.

Also for God's sake stop treating your sculptors and artists like hindu slave laborers, it results in absolute shit like everything released for Age of Smegmar and all the other Primaris variants (brickwall terminators, hovering retards, big dumb gorilla man, etc.)

I could think of reasons the player might be in the right and reasons you might be in the right, but the details make all the difference here.

Why would people stay in a trench? What is compelling them to? Without machine guns and artillery there's no reason not to just charge across the field/hide in a hole while waiting to charge.

There's no field artillery or machineguns.

The simplest solution is some kind of widescale magic attack that takes at least a few days for the military mages to rev up, and then another few days for them to counter the other guys magic long enough for troops to go over the top and not immediately die.
Trenches make good focal points for barriers and/or the magic is pretty much a straight-line headshot if you have a silhouette.

What interesting drawbacks can you give a magical weapon that won't make PCs freak out and throw it in a really deep hole? I'm thinking of doing something like witch marks, though I'm unsure how to implement it well.

If I used one of the Medieval Cannons from Wargames Foundry for a Bretonnian cannon - as a setpiece, perhaps a count-as trebuchet - how mad do you think people would get?

I think it's 'primitive' enough looking that most people would at least recognize it's not trying to make them Empire-like, and it might help make a castle wall or a palisade more interesting.

Why don't they just call it "hindsight horror" or "horror in hindsight"? That way the meaning is clear from the jump. They already have "hilarious" and "harsher in hindsight" for things tht ended up as part of a joke or a tragedy after the fact. (For example, in Dresden Files a character introduced like 10 years ago who attempts to kill his own son is referred to as "a model father; him and Bill Cosby". Later that very book, we learn he and his entire race are psychic serial rapists. Last year, the public relearned that Bill Cosby was accused of serial date rape. So yeah, just like Bill Cosby!)

Anything specific that you liked about it?

Is this game is still around? I remember playing it ages ago, probably when it first came out.

I think I liked it well enough, but I never got into it beyond a few games with starter decks, and it's been too long for me to give you any details. It felt a bit like Magic, I think (though I never played that much either).
