Paizo Games General /pgg/ (also /pfg/)
When was the last time you saw someone play a real deal elf? Not an aasimar, tiefling, kitsune, catfolk, special snowflake DSP race, or whatever, but a genuine elf.

If I see two people play half-elves, does that count as one elf? What if four people play half-elves in my group? Are we collectively playing as two elves?
>>54400644
That's a nice elf. I think I'll keep her.
>>54400644
A guy played any elf and wanted to be Legolas. He ended up falling out of a tree and getting mauled by a tiger.
Is it poor form to nail the entire party with a Fireball in an open town square to "send a message," assuming the entire party can survive it 99.99% of the time and a durable note is tossed in afterwards?
Innocent bystanders can be caught too and die.
>>54400537
>getting fireballed with no warning or ability to evade
Yes
Better way to do it is
>SUDDENLY YOU SEE A MAGE SWOOP OVER THE TOWN SQUARE ON A FLYING DISK. THEY'RE CASTING A SPELL DOWN ONTO THE CROWDED SQUARE
Then you get their reactions/actions as people look up in confusion. Then, you dump a fireball into the crowded square.
>>54400569
300-400 feet away is a long distance to spot a casting from.

nope
>if spell-sniping
I suggest that you make a note of everyone's perception skills and have them roll immediately before the ball fires.
>if big-dick city mage
he swaggers up and the party mages maybe get a chance to detect "the gathering energies"
Coming back into 40k after a few editions away, and looking to bulk out my CSM force. Are pic related a good choice? I mean they look fragile for their point cost, but on the other hand they can easily cross the table turn one and get in the enemy lines while the rest of my army moves up to set up a turn two alpha strike.
Anyone played these bad boys this edition? Any stories to tell? Thoughts on my strategy?
>>54400370
Anyone have anything at all to say about Heldrakes?
My buddy plays CSM and his Heldrake seems solid. As you say he runs it up the board turn one and charges something shooty.
As I see it however it needs support to really get the job done as the unit it charges can fall back leaving it open to getting destroyed. This just means your army needs to make use of the space and time it opens up for you.
So it really depends on what you're running Anon but if you like the model then I dont think you'll be disappointed.
>>54400370
There's a general for this.
So i'm going to run a game with this concept (pic related) and was wondering if you guys had any interesting character ideas.
need 4-5 characters, and i'm thinking level 7.
I also want something interesting so that once a player figures out a few details they cant just metagame out the rest of their character (for example they know they are a fighter, at level7, so they know everything about their character)
currently have these ones:
Human Open hand monk 5, moon druid 2
> I fight tiger style and actually turn into a tiger
Fallen Aasimar Fiend book warlock 5, bard 2
> plays the fiddle
> is just the devil
Half-elf Tempest Cleric 2, Divination wizard 5
> my lightning bolt does max damage, and look, you failed your save.
two that i'm less sure about
Dragonborn Paladin 2, Zealot Barbarian 5
> I was pulled out of Valhalla to wreak justice, and i'm so angry i emit divine power.
Also thinking that the player could empower their breath weapon with their spell slots, changing the damage to 2d8 radiant + 2d8 force, shooing some hyperbeam sort of thing.
Matt mercer's gunslinger at level 7
any other interesting ideas you guys might have would be appreciated. I would also prefer that no characters have overlapping classes.
Charge your phone, dude

its not my screenshot, just got it off the internet.
No.
>>54399867
Beat me to it.
>>54399878
fpbp
Also santa comes during the night, think about that
What do you guys think of reskinning class options to fit the fluff? I've thought of the following
>barbarian with rage - ronin with zen, basically miyamoto musashi a la Vagabond
>wizard with vancian casting - warforged wizard with limited "usb slots" for spells
>>54399823
Your thoughts make me want to vomit but i'm not adverse to the idea.
>>54399918
This. I've definitely refluffed stuff, but your ideas are dumb.
>>54399823
dumb mountain niggers they should all be gassed and set on fire
free tibet from the tibetans
How would one play an undead paladin?
>>54399681
Step 1. Be paladin
Step 2. Die
Step 3. ????
Step 4. Undead Paladin
>>54399681
"Not even in death, does duty end"
How would the Great Crusade/Horus Heressy play out if The Emperor actually saved his buddies and turn'd them into Space Marines.
The same because Angron wanted to die and the nails would still be there for him to corrupt his own legion and make the same mistakes.
why didn't they just kill his pain receptors?
>>54399383
Henwould probably still be a berserker who suffered needless casualty rates but I feel he wouldn't automatically turn traitor if he was on good terms with the Emperor. Something special would have to happen like Magnus and the burning of Prospero or Perturabo and the rebellion at Olympia.
Is it really so evil to send everyone's minds into a paradise? You see this crap everywhere
>hurr hurr but it isn't real!
Aaaand? How do we know anything is real? It doesn't matter
>>54399274
It's considered evil because it's done without consent. Fucking with somebody's thinkybits without their OK is generally 100% badwrong.
>>54399274
Is it really so evil to close off a part of land so they can be inhabited by a dying race? It hurts no one,
>hurr hurr but Humanity strong
"Humanity fuck yeah" is a mental disease. Humans and Non-humans are Equal
>>54399274
Evil? Maybe. The action isn't evil but the fallout from it is. You would have millions of people in a trance, oblivious to the world outside their minds, literally putting the world to a standstill, eventually leading to all of humanity starving and withering away, destroying civilization in one, non-violent, action.

What settings would be the easiest and hardest to adapt to Fifth Edition?
Easiest: Any low/high fantasy piece of literature or media
Hardest: Any system that deals with abstract and definitive differences in technological hierarchy (Rifts, FFWH40k, Battletech) ormy dick
I need a good name for a Glabrezu that my players are going to fight in a Curse of Strahd campaign.
I miss magic forcefully aging characters
Guys I'm starting to lose hope. Even with Rowboat back, even with the possibility that Vulkan may come back if we find his relics, even if we believe that Dorn is still alive because all we found is his hand. I'm still beginning to think that Papa Sang is gone for good.
>>54397846
I mean, yeah, good riddance. The point of his character was that he was too good for this universe. Bringing him back would also devoid his sacrifice of meaning.
>>54397846
Then you're a retard.
Sang is Primarch of one of the big four and has one of the most distinctive looks of the Primarchs.
>>54397846
>Sanguinus was permakilled in the old fluff
>Lady Atia recently said BL is going to retcon Sanguinus dying
>Now starting to lose hope that Sanguinus will return
Something here isn't adding up.
How strong would be a united scandinavia with baltic coast?
>>54397265
I don't fucking know
>>54397265
About as strong as the Kalmar union in the early 15th century I suppose
>>54397265
rich as fuck, as they would control the baltic trade and the hansa wouldn't be as much of a problem as it was irl
What sort of quest reward should you expect from an archangel? I mean, would they be carrying around things like gold or rare items just in case a party of adventurers did something noteworthy?
>just in case
Why the hell would an archangel be rewarding adventurers if he didn't send them out on the quest in the first place? He should expect them to come back and would have ample time to get something prepared. As for what the reward will be, it could come in a myriad of forms from a bag of silver to holy artifacts to a personal favor from a divine being to putting a good word in with The Big Guy.

Sincere thanks, congratulations, and a blessing of some sort.
Imperial Fists ignore cover, damn that's good, Black Templars are meh imo.

NOW BACK TO THE GOOD PART
>>54394780
Damn, and I thought the 7E bolter reroll was good!
>>54394780
I assume BT's restriction on Librarians is listed under their army rules and not their chapter tactics? And yeah, their rule is very underwhelming compared to the others. I might be interested on using the White Scars one. Speed kills.
How do Warhammer 40K purity seals work?
Placebo effect.
>>54394713
They don't. They're just bits of wax and paper.
>>54394713
chaos is famously scared of parchment for some reason.
