I've done haunted mansion adventures for D&D before. Normally for whatever reason my games seem to be on hiatus at halloween but this year I've got a sci-fi game and a Pokemon Tabletop United game running.
I might do something moderately spoopy for the Pokemon group. Don't think I've used any ghost types yet.

I usually run some kind of spooky one shot with my group, or a little side-adventure from the main campaign designed to be a little more horror-y than usual. Sometimes both, like running a one off of Dread or Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf before the main game. I'm thinking something Witchy this year.In specific I'm running a Jojo campaign, and I'm trying to make a stand for 「Season of the Witch」 that is suitably spooky.

Let me explain what's wrong with 3.5 in terms that the summerfags will understand.
LotR gets praised as one of the best (fantasy) novels of all time, but it's not really all that good. If anything, it only deserves praise for its influence.

Very little in the way of physical items. Getting rid of tracers and ownership reset is annoying, and hot items tend to sell poorly.
Paydata, on the other hand... We LOVE paydata. Our info broker says that if we ever stop running he's out of job too, and we're not certain he's joking.

Everyone fa/tg/uy knows by heart to say that dwarf cuisine is "hearty" and elf cuisine is "delicate", but what besides that? What can you say about the cuisine of common fantasy races? What dishes do they like? What seasonings do they use? What about gnomes or orcs, which nobody ever thinks about?

Dwarf food:
Meat pie with standing crust. The butter, lard, and water used to make the crust is boiled, kneaded hard for half an hour, and left to stand for half a day before use. The meat is seasoned with salt, pepper, and maybe some garlic. Also mushrooms.
The pie is left to cool for another day and is eaten cold, but not before the dwarf in questions pours a healthy cup of gravy down the hole in the top to make use of the space created when the meat shrinks during cooking.
Elf food:
Chicken pot pie - the butter, shortening, and water used for the crust is kept as cold as possible. It is kneaded as little as possible and put into the oven cold, creating a delicate, fluffy crust. To enhance the flavor, they brush milk across the top and sprinkle (the elf equivalent to) Parmesan cheese.
The variety of vegetables, subtle herbs and spices, and carefully measured ratios of flour to broth to butter to milk creates a dish so simple but flavorful that they oftentimes don't even include the chicken.
Orc food:
Mongolian-style, broiled sheep head. Or that meal where you cut open the goat, pull out the innards, and shove a bunch of live coals in to cook it from the inside before sewing it back up.
They favor foods that are easy to prepare by throwing in a bunch of on-hand ingredients and which don't need to be watched all that close.
If they lived in the modern world, the crock pot would be their favorite cooking utensil.
No two dishes ever taste exactly the same, but there's a raw simplicity to it that makes you keep coming back.
They also invented barbecue sauce.

I dont, it's 45 minutes away, it's tiny so there's never anything I want, and it's ridiculously expensive. When I go there I try tu buy something, but usually, there's nothing for me to pick up. Too bad, they seem like nice people.

Storythread: 'post summer blues'-edition. Just because we're back at school/university/work, doesn't mean that's any excuse to stop writing.
This is a thread for creative writing of /tg/-related fiction, so epic campaign greentexts and other non-fiction go elsewhere. If you have /tg/ related stories to post, post them here, and hopefully some kind anon will give you feedback (or at least acknowledge that someone did actually read it, which let's face it is what writefags really want).
What counts as /tg/-related? Anything someone could plausibly use in a campaign (which means basically anything if you have enough imagination).
If you don't have a story ready then I and other anons will be posting pictures throughout the thread for you to test your writing skills on. This is, more or less, a world-building and character-building exercise: two vital skills for playing roleplaying games. If you don't have any pics to post, you could try posting an idea for a setting or a character, and maybe someone will be willing to write a story using it. It's also an exercise in writing though, where writefags can try out their material and gain inspiration, so if you just want to talk about world-building you may want to head over to the dedicated world-building threads.
Remember that writefags love to have feedback on their work. Writing takes a long time, especially stories that go over several posts, and it can be really depressing when no one even seems to read it (and the writer won't know you read it unless you leave a comment).
And since writing takes a long time remember to keep the thread bumped. Pics are good, feedback is better.
