My BBEG recently died, his plans of using Hell magic to bring back his people foiled in exchange for the souls of colonists invading his homeland, and he is most likely banished back to the Nine Hells after the ass kicking the players gave him.

Now he can only watch as his remaining people are hunted down by the invading army that the players indirectly gave an excuse to come in. So he's probably not having a good time, especially since he was willing to reason with the adventurers earlier on.

Currently, it is stuck in double limbo.

The first layer because my game's been on hiatus for a while.

The second because it waits for the PCs to kill the big bosses of the continent and take their physical souls that mysteriously appear when they die. Once they get every one of them, It will return to rain death upon all things.

I don't know if you were expecting any sort of particular answer, but there really isn't one. The power of the yozi's depends on edition, and who knows what sort of shit they could do if freed, and then you have to answer the question of how they interact with the new settings metaphysics, like human emotion giving power and the fact that time travel is impossible in one setting and very possible in another.

Would it help if we narrowed it down some? Lets say 2e, pre return of the Scarlet Empress. They're still imprisoned within Malfeas within the warp, but their demons can enter the material world via normal 40k means (psykers, cultists, warp storms, etc). They have pretty clear domains in most cases, so lets say they are empowered/can claim mortal souls via their acts of their purview/emotion.

That....does a little. In 2e the yozi are probably at their least impressive, since they're basically just giant collections of charms. (1e and 3e have them more powerful because they don't bother detailing them and just say they're beyond most individual PC's) Them being trapped would limit them a bit, but not by to much. The main thing is they would probably become their own 'faction' in a sense, given that hell is supposedly teeming with billions upon billions of demons, so they could go up against any other faction through sheer numbers.
The imperium would hate them because duh. Eldar probably to. The orks would care about as much as they do the regular chaos gods I would imagine, but they might actually like them because they could have theoretically infinite fights with them. Hard to say how the chaos gods would react. They would obviously not be very big fans of new competition, and thats exluding the obvious overlap between some, like ebon dragon and Tzeentch. Also the power levels would shift around with the empowerment from human souls. ED getting strength from all hatred and deceit and betrayal would skyrocket him, but someone like Oramus has no real obvious sources.
I'm not exactly up to date on my fluff, but I'd but second circle demons around the strength of greater demons, and third circle demons beyond even that. Liger for instance could probably trade blows with any given primarch.
Of course the realistic answer is it maintains status quo because GWS would write it that way

Kharn is still fucking angry and red, so no difference whatsoever.

The Thousand Sons are still blue, but a lotta more supportive. Every other CSM wants them around.

Slaanesh CSM still wear pink, but much skimpier outfits, and giv you crystal chlamydia upon fucking you.

Failbaddon tries to become the White Lantern and is booted by a single red-faced xeno dictator.

Nurgle believers just got a lot fucking aggressive even towards other chaos cultists tho.

Trazyn gets an orange ring and basically becomes an even more annoying trickster bastard.

The indigo entity is literally DEAD, so basically gets the Malal treatment.

Orks become unstoppable and win the endgame with a bazillion looted lantern rings, manifesting an avatar of their gods big enough to literally punch the galaxy. The only thing stopping them isn't the Emperor, but a single Commissar with a yellow ring on his powerklaw.

Depends on your powerlevel.

A survivor has basically no chance in the world at large. The shit you fight as a settlement is pretty low on the power tier.

Consider that when your Twilight Swordsman maxes out his sword, he qualifies to be an APPRENTICE of the hooded knight. Not an equal.

You'd want to play as things like Twilight Knights, White Seers, or Forsakers. Those guys can actually get in fights and not be immediately gibbed. Maybe say some Black Knights are still around, or Flower Disciples.

You could just play KD:M itself as a tabletop game. It's going to take about 25 sessions at an hour and a half apiece to get through it, so you might as well make it a weekly thing.

Dragons

Do you have your system uploaded somewhere? Sounds tantalizing?

Anyways, maybe for low level encounters, the PCs run into a lone wolf type nomadic hunter who is cannibalizing their fellow cavemen, and they have to track him down. The challenge comes from the fact that this caveman is not retarded, and is actually a genius when it comes to traps, misdirection, and bait.

For a high-level encounter, maybe they could stumble on a subterranean or island enclave of dinosaurs that survived the extinction, along with giant gorillas.
