I haven't played MtG seriously in about 2 years. It actually got a little dull, mainly because my favorite deck style got progressively nerfed over the years, and whenever I try to play standard, I can't help but miss my old decks from years gone by, when it was actually fun to play my archetype.

I don't have a very good collection of cards (I used to sell my cards before rotation to fund getting new stuff) so EDH and Modern aren't too viable.

I've dabbled with Force of Will (really fun, but the weeb art gets to be a bit too much), L5R, Yugioh, and Pokemon TCG, and know how to play all those games well. I used to like getting into a new tcg for 2-3 months at a time.

So I kind of want to get back into playing a TCG, but to be honest, I don't think I want to get back into MtG, because my expectations of that game are too high (I've played at pretty high competitive levels, so trying to keep it fun is hard).

Which one should I try playing again? Which one would be the easiest to get "back" into quickly, make a reasonable deck by opening some packs maybe along with a pre-con deck?

Btw, I have a friend who is almost always down to play any tcg, so I will always at least have somebody to play with, regardless of the tcg. Thanks in advance

Just play Magic you faggot. EDH doesn't need to be expensive, if you have stuff from playing standard you can probably throw something together, might need to drop a few dollars on a commander to fit your colors. I just got back into standard, bought a precon and put like 10$ worth of cards into it, it's not getting me into top, but I'm not losing every game either.

If you REALLY don't want to do magic again, just go to your LGS and ask what their other popular game is, and play that.

I just don't think I can get into it and feel some fun from it, unless I start back at a higher level play. I know the game too well to have fun with it, and at best I'll have a week or two where I read up on the new cards (I already know all the played ones in current standard because I still watch some protours and read the set spoilers).

As far as local shops go, the only things they got going on is mtg. The closest one to me used to have a great community with older players, but it got overrun by kids. Either the kids play poorly with chump decks, or they have all the money rares because they don't have to pay bills etc and get nice allowances. Let alone I can't talk to them really.

So all the 17+ people stopped going to fnm for the most part, which made me stop playing as well. So if I'm going to be playing a tcg only with friends and not at local events, I might as well re pick up another game where I'm not as familiar with. At least I can enjoy figuring out the really tiny details of the game for a while. But I really don't know which one to choose...

Mechanics can't be assessed in a vacuum, it all depends on the context in which they're used, whether the mechanics properly support the themes and premise of the game and will contribute to the enjoyment of a group and GM.

Best 3rd party bitz vendors in terms of sculpt quality?

I recently bought some 3rd party bitz for my army, and I'm finding the sculpt quality somewhat... Lacking. Perhaps I'm just spoiled in that my chosen army is mostly made up of fairly recent GW sculpts, and I for sure should've looked a little closer at the bits before buying, but all the same, what are some good vendors in terms of being as good as/better than GW's sculpts?

So I'm having some issues with my Pathfinder group right now.
I was stupid and managed to give them a few too many opportunities for wishes, and now they're pretty overpowered. What's the best way to cut them down to size, without throwing encounters at them? I have a story reason why creatures would be getting more rampant, but that feels like a cop out to me.

Also yes I know it was retarded to give my players wishes but at the time it seemed harmless.

Pathfinder is built to scale over vast tiers of play from 'peasant who just picked up his sword' to ' demigod'.

Therefore you just escalate. Whatever the players were dealing with before is trivial in comparison to whatever world ending threat (ancient dragon, aboleth, barbarian army, planar portal etc) exists now.

Lads im just about to order 3 boxes of banshees.

Never had finecast before and i still have 5 metal ones. Whats the difference? Is it really as bad as people say?

If ordering them is a bad idea, should i wait for plastic aspects which will never come?

And in any case, if people start calling a newbie to the hobby shit because of poorly painted miniatures find somewhere else to play.
You're not going to create masterpieces first time unless you're an experienced model painter or something along those lines. Just have fun painting models you like and putting them on the table.
If you're still worried about your paint quality ask for tips and lurk around the generals. Practice and git gud. But in the meantime just have fun.

And for fuck's sake capitalise your damned sentences.

All i've ever played is 5e, I do own a ton of 3.0/3.5 books but no one here plays so I never used them just collected. Anyhow, was introduced to S&Wiz by someone I done a one-shot with via FB group and I have to say, it's simplicity and light rules seem fun and im actually interested in trying it out. Wanted to see if others have actually tried it or at least know of it. So far I am a fan. I understand it is a "retroclone" of OD&Dish stuff and I did get to play one game of 1st and liked it so maybe I will enjoy older as well.

Planning a setting with a desert/arid grassland dwelling four-foot tall race that's omnivorous but prefers meat. I have a decent idea of what I want to do with them, but more ideas never hurt.

What kind of a culture would this race have assuming their technology level is about on par with, say, Aztecs? They don't build large cities.

Sorry, but you're going to have to define what a "large city" is first. If they have an unified government, at least one urban center is likely.

Anyway, I would think of them of many pastoral tribes, possibly semi-nomadic and an urban, sedentary core growing crops on areas benefitted by dams and qanats.

Tech level is hard to keep up if you don't settle down somewhere. You could have two sects (sun worshippers v moon worshippers?), one that stays where it is, and one that sorta wanders, but eventually people are gonna accrue wherever the best land is.

If they've got agriculture, stoneworking, and some metalworking, they've got SOME kind of bigger city where a guy's job can be "stoneworking" as opposed to "making enough food to survive".

im getting into this gurps game where I'm going to be an inventor/scientist that also has magic.

the inventing system confuses me a bit but someone says i should pick up pyramid weird science.

I've got a bunch of ideas for making normal science stuff but I'm having trouble thinking of stuff i can do that has magic involved in it as well. oh and were supposed to be in the 1920's

Really, what's possible comes down to what sort of magitech the setting uses. A setting with magical crystal batteries that solve a lot of power issues but leaves everything else as-is is going to look a lot different than a setting that uses bound spirits as AI and magical floatstone as lift for airships and fliers.
