Gunbuster. Both Gunbuster humanity and the Space Monsters they fight look juuuust enough like something 40k would think they could take, but would find out quickly how wrong that is.

Space Monsters... imagine if Tyranids laid their eggs in suns, had psychic powers that let them FTL on a dime, can spit balls of plasma that can penetrate clean through a moon before exploding and taking out half of your fleet that was using that moon for cover...

And there are more space monsters than there are Tyranids. A lot more. One swarm that attacks Earth is a group of them so numerous that the swarm of space monsters was enough to fill the entire orbital area of pluto around the sun.

The Gunbuster fought such monsters by the trillions, and by the end of the war was outdated tech.

Gunbuster HUMANS, for example, eventually say 'fuck it' and turn Jupiter into a massive black hole bomb, FTL it into the center of Space Monster territory, and wipe more than 50% of the stars in the milky way off the map in one go.

This ultimately fails to stop the space monsters.

I could use some feedback and tips on how to improve my nurgle cucks. I am thinking:
- Wash the armor with SEPIA or QuickShade-Light tone
- Add highlights on the mutations
- Wash swords with darktone
- add rust streaks and silver+dark chips and perhaps some washes here
- Paint eyes/lenses red/orange

I should have thought the color scheme through.. FUCK


Previously an anon made a comment to add more green, but wouldnt that turn this is into Nurgle Dark Angels scheme?

Also primer went on like shit so i had to strip and redid it. Fuckin hassle that was.

Celestra grey and dryad bark represent the duality of man.
Celestra grey represents all of the worst things about humanity. Anger, jealousy, but mostly anger.
On the other hand, dryad bark represents the very best of humanity. Because it's just so damn easy to get smooth coats with.

Did not think I'd get an answer this comprehensive. In all honesty I just wanted to know the limits of magic since all I had going on was the Returns trilogy and that had only generic elemental bolts and a few support spells. Now that you describe it to me it sounds way overpowered. I thought there'd be some limit to what you can make people do. The concept of a mage using mind control magic to manipulate his way to the top of a corporation or enact a masterplan seems like it'd make a fantastic side character or villain.

Did you miss the part where you don't exist or cast spells in a void? Corps have their own mages omae, they watch for shit like that. You're not that brilliant or inventive that you're the first person to think of the concept.

This is the exact thing that people are paranoid about mages doing.

How do we fix the white dragon problem? Should they even be allowed to be considered dragons, let alone free to insult the intelligence of other races?

There are plenty of nerds and people convicted of white collar/non-violent who would have played or have an interest in playing D&D to pass time. It's common enough that people ask about it or discuss it once in a while online.

The thing is, gang groupings and gambling aren't allowed, so you have to use things like paper to replace the dice, and you want to make sure the guards know what you're doing is harmless. They won't bust you for playing Scrabble, but a bunch of similar looking guys hanging out? Gang related. Bunch of guys tossing dice? Contraband and gambling.

The culture would wipe the floor with everyone else. Gridfire will completely obliterate any 40k space force, making even the Necrons and hive fleets a complete joke.

Gridfire, for those not in the know, is punching holes in the fabric of spacetime to an alternate dimension of pure antimatter that exists between our universe and the next one over. Gridfire attacks involve making hundreds of such punctures inside of the enemy ship from afar.

This also leads into why they would be a hell of a problem for the warp. The Minds already punch holes in alternate dimensions for quick travel, firepower, or even just for storage. Indeed, one of the things the minds consider high priority is coordinating their efforts so that they can continue to do this without accidentally destroying an entire dimension by having it collapse in on itself from overmanipulation, since the effects of that would be catastrophic (we were using that dimension for shit).

This establishes that the culture, if they feel pressed, can probably collapse a dimension on purpose.

Once they are made aware of the existence of the warp, sealing it away or destroying it is going to be high on their list of priorities.

With this being an obvious racism allegory, it makes me wonder if RPG books made in the 6th world, do they give the different races different stats, or do they make them all the same to avoid being racist/sexist like how most mainstream RPG books avoid giving different stats to men and women?

Right now my DM has given my character a Glaive with an outsider-like entity contacting them. The weapon by itself is pretty powerful and can potentially become stronger than most artifact weapons, granted that character kills 8 living creatures with souls. Although this is difficult as we are in Barovia where souls are limited. The deal that was struck is that once my character takes Strahd's life, the dark power will then take theirs.

My DM thought he was clever, and would make really smart curses that would give us power, but destroy us in the long run.
He was wrong. All his "deals with the devil" largely amounted to our characters unknowingly sacrificing our children. Sounds bad? Yes. But in practice, none of us ever MET our children in the game, and a few of us didn't even know any even existed. Sacrificing something you don't even know you have is a cost anyone can bear.

Another time, he gave us this super powerful sword (seriously, look at it's stats, it's fucking broken), that supposedly ate your soul and made you evil and shit. But the player who wielded it was already a murderhobo, so all it happened was him becoming a godlike murderhobo.

That's nothing to do with the system. If your players stop caring about NPC's the second they can somehow ignore or overpower them, which ruleset you choose isn't going to help.

Personally, I think it's more or less what 5e should have been.

Just look out to not cut yourself with the edge.

I would recommend looking at Runequest or GURPS. In either system player characters can't resolve 100% of problems on their own, and will have to look at other solutions like NPCs. The skill system and character creation in both are a clip ahead of 5E. Also what >>54429512 said, along with Fantasy Craft. SotDL is underrated and it might be exactly what you are looking for.
