Just started DMing for the first time, and I'm totally clueless as to where to go for resources. The game I'm running is set in Forgotten Realms, and I'm wondering if there's a big collection of just maps?

What software would you guys recommend for making my own? I've seen tons of different things, but I'm lost right now, so I figured I'd ask the experts.

Otherwise, share your favourite maps here

What should be the magical difference between a wand and a staff?

Should a Wizard carry one of each, or have a preference?
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>54504050
Depends on setting obviously, but considering that a staff is harder to carry around, can't be concealed, and probably requires more materials to make, stafffs should be at least bit more magically powerful to compensate

What should be the technological difference between a submachinegun and a assault rifle?

Should a Soldier carry one of each, or have a preference?
>>
>>54504050
I've always separated wands, rods, and staves based on the scale of the magic they're used for. You can move mountains with a staff, but you use a wand for charms and enchantments and the like, with rods serving as a sort of middle ground, mostly used for evocation magic.

Why the hell is the imperial guard standard armor not covering the guts ?

I know it is supposed to be cardboard anyway but an armor that is not covering the softest area in the whole body has no point (apart from being an excuse for pauldrons, of course).
27 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
For better mobility, I'd wager. It's hard to bend over and shit if you have armor covering your entire torso. Most modern body armor is constructed this way.
>>
>>54502841
Their combat doctrine involves a lot of trenches and fortifications. Why both putting armor on a section of the body that is always behind cover?
>>
>>54502841
>but an armor that is not covering the softest area in the whole body has no point
It's covering the vital organs in the chest like most modern armors, and as stated before the armor is only useful for human targets, anything else it's basically paper.

I'm starting a new group (D&D 5e) and am thinking of initially banning Cleric, Paladin and Druid class, but all classes having an option to switch into them during the play via roleplay. My problem is, people roleplay these classes like every other without mirroring their religious/natural backgrounds. Druids roam the cities without any gripe, skinning of animals and deforestation does not upset them. Paladins of Tempus avoid battle, clerics of good alignment are not upset over injustice and oppression. Basically I'd like for people to pray in character, reflect characteristics of their classes not play them like any other (fighter/rogue/ranger ...) class.

Is that too harsh? Thoughts?

If you're having problems with players staying in-character, banning classes won't change that.

Let's have a conspiracy set in the 40k universe that's cyberpunk all the time. I ythink a opening to the campaign with a Deus Ex: Mankind divided type of opening would work well.

>>
No.
Use Infinity dir Cyberpunk. They have better ass
>>
>>54502503
I personally found Infinity a little bit fiddly (probably haven't played it enough), and besides Necro is still usable, with a little homebrew.
>>
>>54502591
It's only slightly fiddlier than Necromunda in my experience. The most awkward part is hacking, which you can for the most part safely ignore if you're playing Ariadna.
Besides, you gain dat ass as a bonus.

40k is not very cyberpunk at all. The closest it ever got was Necromunda.

The DCAU one? Pretty much, yeah. As seen here (0:36 onwards), he obtains the strength of what amounts to either (depending on the continuity) a divinely-powered homunculus or an actual demigoddess, and follows it up by copying a highly-advanced piece of technology powered by a metaphysical, conceptual font of emotion. Oh, and someone who acts as a conduit to a universal source of "speed".

Do imperial soldiers rape and pillage in 40K?

Doe sit occur in any book or lore from a codex?

What is the punishment of you rape a traitor/heretic/mutant/xeno?
21 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>rape a traitor or heretic
Delayed a traitor's execution, but as long as the condemned still dies, only five lashes followed by latrine duty. Note that you would get the same if you played cards with the traitor, or just sat around: the rape does not matter, only that you had a traitor in your sights and did not shoot her immediately.

>rape of a mutant
Since you categorised it as separate from "traitors and heretics", I assume that the mutant in question is loyal. There are legal mutant populations in the Imperium, and theoretically raping them is still a crime, though no judge would convict you because nobody would believe a mutant's testimony. If there were non-mutant witnesses that reported the incident, however, you may get sent to a Penal Legion to die horribly.

>rape of a xeno
Death by strangulation, followed by incineration. How dare you risk spreading Xeno STIs to the holy Imperium?
