Lets get this started shall we?
You know the rules, but in case you dont just ask me.
Please pick a difficulty setting along with your race/location. Easy, Medium and Hard. This will impact how we start and how forgiving the GM (me) is.
First to 3 wins!
PS: Oh and please name your selfs for this thread. It makes my job easier.

I'll name myself if this goes anywhere. Going to vote for hard difficulty Lizardfolk in a Volcano/Lava Wastes type area. Maybe we're descended from dragons or something, dunno.

Hey /tg/
I'm back. Also, to keep this easily identifiable, what should I call this setting? Pokemon x DnD? Pokemon x Mouse Guard?
Anyway, archived threads here from 4plebs since 4archive seems down:
http://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/34513132
http://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/34536191
And ongoing /vp/ thread:
>>>/vp/20788266
Basic premise: You play as Pokemon in a Medieval type Pokemon society in some kind of post-apocalyptic Kanto (i.e. no trainers or humans of any kind). Imagine a Pikachu Paladin or something along those lines, perhaps mounted Pika cavalry riding Nidoran into battle, or Flying Pika Air support mounted on flying Pidgeottos. Certain Pokemon have become intelligent and civilized, others remain wild and untamed.
I'd like input on a couple things:
1) Which Pokemon should be the "intelligent" human - like Pokemon?
Other than arbitrarily picking those that people like or think are cool, I'd like some kind of logical criteria for why some are more intelligent compared to others.
I'm planning on starting in Kanto, but Pokemon across all generations are valid. Keep in mind, starting in Kanto means Kanto's native species are the most common, i.e. Gen 1 Pokemon.
>>34560640
2) Fluff for the Civilizations of different species -
In the latest archived thread, there were a couple ideas on some cool intelligent Poke cultures, let's get more of those, example:
The Totodile are split into a multitude of clans who travel the rivers of the land in grand barge-cities. At best they are peaceful travellers, trading fish and fine rods for necessities, at worst they are vicious raiders, plundering villages and taking slaves. Their are rumours of the Red Eye Clan, who eat those they don't kill or enslave.
3) Evolutions - how should they be handled?
If you were my players, would you be pissed if I made evolution difficult to obtain or outright banned it for PCs? I want to stay canon, so I don't want evolutions to suddenly disappear from the world, and like the idea of encountering fully evolved Poke as like Bosses or something, example:
I imagine this like going off to fight a Charizard that's been plaguing the countryside, killing it, and being known as Sparky, the Dragonslayer or some shit. In the end, I want a reason for PC pokemon in particular to not want to evolve.
In particular, I want to limit or ban PC Poke evolutions for 2 reasons, copy pasted from archived thread:
I kind of want to make it difficult to evolve, maybe by making those that evolve more savage (could take some negative edges in SW or something), predominantly to avoid a situation where you have a party where everyone is the same high level, but one guy has a Pikachu, and one guy is a fucking giant Blastoise or something. It just seems, unbalanced size wise and stuff, and again, goes away from the Mouse Guard gritty kind of feel I'm going for?
>>34560654
4) Finally, gameplay mechanics -
I'm most likely going to run this in Savage Worlds, using the Super Powers rules for the Pokemon powers and special attacks like Thunder, Ember, etc. Mouse Guard and Torchbearer Nature mechanics have been brought up and sound interesting, I'll probably implement them as well, but does anyone who has played either of those RPGs have input on how to make it work in SW? Does anyone have the Torchbearer RPG so I can look how it works there?
Also thinking of making PCs have to decide between increasing skills like sword fighting or increasing special Poke attacks, like Lightning based attacks. I think this will make things easier to keep track of, and also allows for more traditional RPG type parties as specialists would be more like mages or monks or something.
Anyway, the last few threads have been great. Give me your best /tg/, suggestions, comments, critique, all welcome!
>>34560640
>I'm back. Also, to keep this easily identifiable, what should I call this setting?
Pokemon Mystery Dungeons? I mean, it's obviously not the same angle as the game, but it sort of captures immediately that you play Pokemon, rather than Trainers.
Continuing a thread from last night. Archive here: http://4archive.org/tg/thread/34513132#p34527873

Just want to see if /tg/ has any more amazing ideas, since discussion helps me develop my own ideas for the setting.
In particular there are three things I want to discuss.
1) Playable Pokemon Races (The "civilized" races) -
What types of pokemon should be playable? I've decided that for my game, I want to start in the Pikachu Kingdom's territy (name to be finalized) which I figure should be centered around the Viridian Forest, with outposts through Routes 1-5, and a small enclave of perhaps Thunder sages will have made the pilgrimmage to the ruins of what used to be the Kanto Power Plant. In a similar vein, I want to imagine any Pokemon culture's territory to be based on where the Pokemon were typically found in the game. Thus, playable races at the start will be limited to viable pokemon in this area. Furthermore I was thinking of limiting the races to those Pokemon that were bipedal at the least, and most likely the mammals, because I don't know, reasons. I want there to be some kind of logical reasoning for why some races are civilized and playable, and others are still wild. Is this too restrictive? I'm not entirely sure, but I also don't want to open the floodgates and say play as whoever, because honestly a metapod knight sounds kind of dumb and would detract from the setting tone I'm trying to establish (think Mouse Guard).
>>34536191
Cont'd
2) What will the cultures of the civilized races be like?
I'll include my one example from the archived thread: I was thinking Meowth could be power hungry antagonists, driven by their greed. They'd be militaristic and violent, but cunning and strategic. Perhaps they're the most industrialized, a la Orcs in Tolkien.
Further as I've kind of eluded to above, the Pikachu (and maybe any other electric races) worship Zapdos and treat any of the places its nested in as a shrine/holy site. I imagine Pikachu as kind of the human analogue in the world. Not necessarily the only human analogue, but one of them. Maybe they're the most Paladin-esque, heroic fighters who follow their Lord of Light's word and bring peace, culture, and knowledge wherever they go. Of course not ALL Pikachu will be like this, but it'll be the defining feature of most of the culture.
3) The system and mechanics.
Thus far, I'm planning on hacking together the mechanics in Savage Worlds, and using the Super Powers rules to implement canon Pokemon attacks like Quick Attack, Thunder, etc. Anyone have any suggestions for another system? Also, should I make players have to decide between their regular skills and their special Pokemon attacks, or should they be able to advance both at the same rate, i.e. should a Pikachu Paladin have to choose between increasing his sword fighting skill or his Lightning attack? Also, since my inspiration is Mouse Guard, one Anon suggested I implement a Nature mechanic from Mouse Guard. This would make sense in implementing with the "evolution causes a Pokemon to become more feral" idea that was put forth, especially if we fluff it as fighting and violence is what forces evolution, and without the love I guess of humans and trainers, evolved Pokemon simply become wild.
Welp, that's kind of where I'm at now. Come on /tg/ give me your best ideas. Tell me I'm being too restrictive. Fluff some Fantasy type cultures with a Pokemon twist.
>>34536191
Bump. Slow day or no interest?
Would it be too much work to implement abilities?
I know Pikachu has a good one named Static that punishes melee attacks. I think it would add some variety to encounters without being overcomplicated.
As for the issue of advancing regular skills vs. moves, I'd say players should have a choice, but PP should refill slowly (1/5 max per day?) so that swordfighting remains a good investment even at high levels.

Hey /tg/
I just came up with a crazy scenario idea, and need some help turning it into a game I can run, and see if anyone has run something like it before.
The scenario is basically Mouse Guard x Pokemon, whereby the mice are pikachu's (sp?)
Anyway, other than knowing it exists, I've never played Mouse Guard or read any of the comics, and am mostly only familiar with Gen 1 of Pokemon.
That said, I was thinking that in addition to having basic martial based fighting skills, any Pokemon warriors would also have 4 special attacks, such as thunder in pikachu's case, or quick attack, etc.
What do you think /tg/? Any ideas on what system this would be best to run in? Additionally, what other intelligent "races" should there be, other than the Pikachu? I was thinking Meowths or something could be their nemesis, since I know Weasels or something are the main enemy intelligent race in Mouse Guard.
If it's any help, my group is mostly familiar with Savage Worlds, which I'm sure I could try to cobble something together that vaguely works, but I wanted /tg/'s input.
>mostly familiar with Gen 1
Just so you know, it's probably in your best interest to shoot down any player who wants to play as a Ralts, Buneary, Riolu or Fennekin.
>>34513443
Or, while you're at it, just limit the choices to the first two generations. That way they can't do any dumb gay shit.
>>34513443
Are these really popular Pokemon or something? Or is there a reason these pokemon would be considered "intelligent" races that I'm not aware of? I was thinking of limiting the region to Kanto to begin with, and then expanding the campaign elsewhere where more races could be discovered, but that can change no problem.
So /v/ has a daughter now because Zoe Quinn. What will it take to get /tg/ pregnant?

Well, I think we can all tell how this thread will go.
How do you come up with your BBEG's lieutenants, /tg/?
With my ~IMAGINATION~
>>34457482
I think of avenues my BBEG doesn't cover. If he's a martial warlord, he has at least one magical lieutenant. If he's a mage, he's got at least one hulking muscleman.
Also, can't forget the Starscream, effective or not.
I read one piece/jojo and work from there.
would you an orc woman
>>34460907
Sure. I basically never stop an orc woman.
>>34460907
Where do you think you are?
So when did this "Orc females are green elves with people with a muscle fetish" fad begun? I bet it's WoW fault.
How do you feel about the following that the next Space marine game won't be a sequel but rather a prequel to "Space marines" involving a certain thunder warrior.

>>34454842
i'd rather have another dawn of war game than space marine.
>>34454842
Yes, but as with >>34454904 I still have hope for Dawn of War III
Ok, listen up you maggots! According to The Administratum there has been a miss in the logging books about our great guard regiment!
So I want all of you maggots that calls yourself guardsmen of the Imperium to get someone that can re-create our regiment for the Administratum.
(I want you guys to create one, my imagination sucks + it's more fun when /tg/ does it)
call us the Frenzied Hippo regiment.
We are only good for scouting and skirmishing.
>>34418095
Just use the charts and have us pick shit.
Try to post a somewhat equal ratio of comments/pictures so people can enjoy both looking at cool builds and looking at CYOA's. Also if you have any that haven't been posted in a while, why not post them?
Posting builds without an adjoined story is frowned upon, the build itself is not the cool part.
>>34402810
Bang Bang!
>there will never be another Goblins
I didn't read the comic, but I'm going to miss watching /tg/ flip its collective shit over it.
He got what he deserved.
Attention, fellow Inquisitors of Ordo Xenos!
The Holy Imperium of Mankind has recently been contacted by an alien species that wishes to prostrate themselves before the light of the Astronomicon and bow down to the glorious power of the Emperor.
It is then our duty as His servants to study and observe this xenos race, judge them, and allow them to join our great Imperium (or, failing to meet our expectations, perish at the end of an Exterminatus).
I request the assistance of the Ordo Xenos in tending to this matter, and examining these aliens for our eventual judgement. We will all need to come to a consensus on their merits and worth to the Imperium, so it is up to us to properly and efficiently record their qualities. I've outlined the criteria for this examination here:
• Biology/Appearance
• Culture/History
• Homeworld/Environment
• First Contact With Mankind
• Relationships to Other Xenos
• Relationship with Chaos
• Any Other Heresy of Note
• How can they fit into the Imperium of Man?
• Can they fight alongside our armed forces?
We'll tally up the pros and cons of allowing them to join us. For another species to bend the knee to the glory of our Emperor is astonishing, and it will be up to us to get to the bottom of this matter. I would also like to requisition an Inquisitorial Drawfag to help us chronicle this xenos species as we deliberate on a judgment.
They will either join us as subjects of the God-Emperor, or be eliminated as heretics. Ladies and gentlemen, the judgment falls upon us.
Ave Imperator.
This looks kind of fun. Wish I had some artistic talent to help design something.
Obviously, for their biology, I vote on some smexy monstergirls.
I mean, it doesn't count as heresy if the xenos you're banging are Imperial subjects, right?
>>34372856
With what limited time I have on our network, I'll attempt to help the Ordo come up with a suitable design for these aliens.
>>34372916
Me may need to recruit the Ordo Hereticus to decide that matter.
I was hoping to avoid making monstergirls, though. I was thinking something weirder looking and more alien-minded to contrast with the Imperium it's trying to join.
>>34372916
No, anon, it's heresy. It's delicious, tempting heresy, but heresy nonetheless.
