Tell the story of the NPC that your group adopted like a mascot
> Star Wars: Edge of the Empire
Party has to break into an ISB compound to rescue a Rebel strike-team. Through disguises and sliced access codes they stealth to prison levels but then go loud. Find comrades, but there are other prisoners. To cause chaos, prisoners are armed with E-11s and sent down the turbolift to the foyer. Only one that wasn't was Needles, a drug-addicted Rodian.
I rolled Needles fairly, and in his underwear he ran through the chaos of a firefight to an AA tower, bashed in the viewportal with a broken E-11 and grabbed the gunner's arm, slamming him into the door over and over. They took him with them as they escaped.
These days, the party is see-sawing between putting him out an airlock (for almost stealing drugs from their Black Sun host's locked showroom), trying to dry him out and give him his life back and feeding him drugs and putting him into the thick of situations in a drug-fueled rampage. All still in his underwear.

>Standard DnD setting
>Players want to do an evil campaign
>Basically make a mercenary group who will take on any job as long as it pays enough
>Give the player a series of small jobs as they work their way up
>Party eventually gets an invitation from a rich asshole warlord who wants to carve out his own empire
>Warlord is loaded, a point I make sure to drive in when the party first meets him
>Party is basically invited to this grand feast in a lavish manor and warlord has this slave girl named Serina waiting on them and serving on them
>This is where I think I unintentionally hit the magical realm of 3 out of 4 of my players, because they start asking what she looks like.
>Give a pretty generic slave description, talk about how she's nicely dressed as if on display, but when she moves a certain way burns and lash marks can be seen under her clothes, and her wrists are bruised as if she goes long periods wearing chains.
>One of the players speaks up and asks how much it would be to buy Serina
>I attribute this to the players just being evil power hungry assholes who want their own slaves, because it's an evil game and they've all been power hungry evil asshole so far anyway
>Play this up and have warlord tells them there will be slaves enough for them all very soon in the future
>As soon as the banquet is over, the players basically start questioning everything they've done and decide they can't let people like this be in charge.
>Party literally decides to become good guys over a slave girl NPC I pulled out of my ass in like 5 minutes
>Later on in the campaign, they basically start a guild and pretty much teach Serina to read so she can be the secretary for it and do something with her life besides menial servitude.
>In addition to this, I decided to also have her start visiting the local temple to cope, and had her read up on alot of the religious texts and such there, becoming something of a DM-info-dump plot device for obscure legends and lore.
One of my players wasted a favor from the king of the Danes to Waifu a random thrall girl and dragged her around with them for the rest of the campaign, and it eventually got to the point where the group decided to be viking abolitionists because of it.

Thread Question:
Should me, you, or anyone else build that one last deck that they have an idea for but that just hasn't ever been built?
>>54567752
This is a bad thread question.
Some decks just won't work in certain tables and completely dominate other.
And assuming something has never been done for is simply audacious, however pushing your playgroup to new experiences is always healthy for the meta, unless your table is one that likes to solidify their snowflake decks and have them remain unchanging until the day the get bored of it and completely disassemble them.

Dune Spice is always a good additive.
Anyone wanting to be a giant super powered space whale/tumor should look into Symbiote, the note on merging ending your chain is completely meaningless as you can achieve Gods A&B levels of power without merging. All it takes is abandoning your humanity in the pursuit of knowledge and power.

Can someone post the donald krump two squiggs meme? Also, 3th for chaos!
Looking over the points for the Repulsor, at around 330 pts this thing can pack two lascannons, a heavy gatling cannon, FIVE fragstorm launchers (which is 5d6 hits within 18 inches) and 2 krakstorm launchers, and maybe some other shit I'm forgetting..this thing is such a fucking beast, why even fill it up with units? if I put intercessors in there, they'll get outgunned by the onslaught cannon, if I put aggressors in there, they'll get out boltstormed by the fragstorms, I guess maybe plasma incinerators?
Also as a side note: I think taking more than one of these tanks is gonna be a dick move.
alright last stupid GSC/Tyranids list idea before I go to sleep
a bunch of rock grinders special deploying along with some Tyranid psykers to cast onslaught on them.
turn 1 charges with genestealers are alright I guess, but turn 1 charges with trucks sounds cooler right?
>the northern barbarians come with a giant army!
>they hail down from barren frozen wastelands that could actually never sustain such numbers!
Alight, this trope is stupid. Historically armies with large numbers were employed by civilized and urbanized nations, like the romans. For instance was there ever a good explanation for the wildlings in game of thrones to have amassed such a great army despite most of their land being a complete icy shithole? Additionally, how would you explain that or how would you make this work?
>>54566950
Literally the Mongols: Cold Edition dude.
The usual explanation is "The northmen were tribes that fought each other but then Some Dude united them under his banner to invade the prosperous south."
Pretty sure there is a laundry list of examples of shit similar to this happening in actual history.
>>54566950
Size matters. Specifically in this case the size of the landmass these frozen invaders come from. Please not that the lands north of the wall on the map are the same damn size as the whole seven kingdoms. There are fewer people there that there are in the seven kingdoms, but I think it is not entirely unreasonable for the concentrated population of a landmass of that size to be large enough to equal the armies of one of said kingdoms, each of which shat out armies of the size of the wildling host like there was no tomorrow.
As to the trope in general the "frozen north" isn't usually all that frozen. Less temperate than the southern climes, but habitable, and generally speaking a larger geographic area.
Funny you mention rome. Germanic hordes ring any bells?
See also Russians, multitude thereof.
>>54566950
>For instance was there ever a good explanation for the wildlings in game of thrones to have amassed such a great army despite most of their land being a complete icy shithole?
Because the North beyond the Wall is fucking XBOXHUEG. Also because they were bringing literally every wildling who wanted to live.

Because both Abyssal Bearsecutor and Bearslayer Angel are 2/2 single entities.
Hi, Hewfag here, Ive never touched warhammer in anyway but it seems interesting so i was wondering if any of you all could give me a run down on how to build an army for 40k because i find all the books confusing
>>54566633
in 8th edition a list consists of one or more detachments.
The most basic detachment consists of at a minimum 1 HQ and 2 troops.
All units in your army must share at least one keyword. Units within the same detachment should have the same faction keyword.

I get the feeling that if you don't like reading rulebooks that it's not really the game for you.
Like going into an MMO, while saying "but I don't really like grinding".
>>54566633
Unless they changed shit, all you need is the core rulebook and a single codex.
You buy the one codex for the army that you like and that has all the rules for your army.
The main rulebook has all the basic rules of the game.
Sooo... This box of three says its a "squad", but the data card we've seen says they show up in fives.
Dickery, or Just As Planned Dickery?
>>54566266
The rules allow you to have one single squad that is under strength for situations like this. If you are not playing matched play (99.9% of people only play matched play, anything else is the same as Unbound last edition) you may have as many under strength units as you wish.
>>54566277
>situations like this
An actual box for sale is a special case?
>>54566266
>>54566406
It's a box of two Lieutnants and a Captain. Done.

Your party is in the woods one day when a trio of strange metal horseless carriages come by and stop in front of you. Out of each comes two people like these guys. They inform you that they are (as is written on their vehicles) "The Police", a word which probably comes from 'polis' the old word for city state. They also want to know what you are doing with so much weaponry.
>>54566004
Are they american police? If so, roll for initiative before they get a drop on you
>>54566004

>>54566002
Because they're a business, and people with business degrees who are running the business have no idea what the people who are their customer base are actually like, outside of "market demographic" research.

As in header, no getting around it. If you made your character/use one from your games system, that character is a Mary Sue.
.. If you say so
A thread died for this.
>>54565973
Well, can't really be an obscenely powerful main character without being a mary sue. In most table rpgs you will pretty much overpower anything and everything in your way, be it directly (through a fight or whatever) or in due time (through preparation and planning).

A civilization of elves, catfolk, dogfolk, merfolk, and other animalfolk; based on real-world humans, cats, dogs, fish, and other pets. Could it ever work?
You have the elves. They live in tree-cities, they like bows and wondrous magic, they have kings and queens, they have day jobs to pay the bills.
You have the animalfolk with far shorter lifespans. They are slaves in a way, yet extremely privileged and pampered slaves. Elves find them simply adorable and love to have them around as companions in the home.
Elves acquire their pets through either purchases or animalfolk husbandry. Many animalfolk are separated from their parents during their childhood, so that they can be given to a loving home, but a select few animalfolk live with their biological families under a single elven household.
Elves house, bathe, feed, and protect their pets, expecting more or less nothing in return. An animalfolk who lazes around all day and plays with toys (or, since these are sapient, engages in hobbies like book-reading and artistry) is par for the course. Elves love it when the animalfolk return the affection in one of many cute ways, from a doggirl cuddling up with her master, to a catboy presenting dead birds (hopefully actual birds) as murder presents.
Animalfolk generally love their owners for taking care of them. Some pets are eager to chat up their owners on all manner of topics, while other pets prefer to silently bask in their master's presence. However, there are a few despicable and abusive owners, who are reviled and often arrested by the other elves.
There are many kinds of pets. There are catfolk known for their aloofness and self-maintaining independence, the loyal dogfolk who are sometimes given legitimate jobs in elven society, the merfolk who live in schools in aquariums and do nothing but laze around, and more.
Elves love their pets so much that it is always a tragedy when an elf inevitably outlives their animalfolk.
How could this concept be refined?
>>54565412
Well that sounds like an adorable concept. Only thing I could think of to improve it is make them different sizes. Dogs are taller than cats are taller than rabbits are taller than sneks, etc.
Also why elves and not dwarves or Orcs or humans? Do these civilizations exists in that setting? How do they treat these animal folk?
>>54566250
>Only thing I could think of to improve it is make them different sizes. Dogs are taller than cats are taller than rabbits are taller than sneks, etc.
Size differences can be interesting, but humanoid-sized animalfolk pets can be interesting too.
>Also why elves and not dwarves or Orcs or humans?
I chose elves out of reasoning that animalfolk would have human lifespans, whereas elves would have elven lifespans, thereby simulating the difference between human and cat/dog lifespans.
>>54566451
Do the neighboring human civilizations think it's creepy that the elves treat folk more or less similar to themselves like pet animals? Do they just equate them with slaves, if slavery is accepted? How do the elves interact with/think of other shorter-lived races?

Thread question: will mono-red get to rule Standard part?
>>54565289
pts are metagamed af. rdw is a known quantity so its not likely that it completely takes down the pt unless its actually broken
they put the fucking annoying commentators Hagon and Bartholdi together on a shitty segment finally. You can mute the stream and don't have to listen to the droning.
>>54565448
The commentary on big streams is what actually made me stop watching them. I'd rather just watch smaller streamers playing MTGO.
I need some help running this, does anyone have any tips? Have you run it before? How did it go?
It wouldn't be so bad but it's totally random where they go and such, so I don't know what to prepare each week. what do I do? What do I Scooby dooby doo?
>>54565189
So far, my DM has treated it as each character's own Silent Hill. Have the dark powers push the player's buttons, causing something interesting to happen. It's much easier if the characters in question have a tragic history or a flaw in their personality.
>>54565189
Also, never let NPC's perform the killing blow on significant enemies, have them reduce the target to a minimum of 1 hp and/or have benefits which other players can use to take that foe down.
Throw it out and find a better module.
