I keep hearing about "formats". Standard, Legacy, that kinda thing. What does it mean? Are they just different ways to play the game? Like, alternate rule sets or something?

Its about the cardpool avaiable to build decks with. In Legacy, every card since the start of the game is valid for use in a deck, in Modern, only cards with the new artstyle are valid, and in Type 2 / Standard, only the last two or three sets of cards are valid. They all use the same rules and play the same way.

There ARE variant gamerules, tho, stuff like Two-Headed Giant and Commander / EDH. Those are also called "formats", even tho they're really variants rather than formats per se.

If it's about the airships, I'd take the blimp tech and kick it up several notches. The ship would be built around the baloon to keep it armored. Advances in metallurgy would provide lighter but less durable materials than regular steel. Though the airships would be used more for transport and recon than war.

Setting I was making long ago where another dimension up and replaced most of the the South American continent and was slowly consuming the U.S Southern States(Set in the Civil War Era).

The tech came from a new energy source from this new 'dimension' land that was found in abundance but one had to brave the legions of Lovecraftian horrors to reach it. It was basically a blue glowy rock that could be burned like coal but generated energy far surpassing that of coal or any other known energy source. With that kind of energy output, and a need to militarize the American territory fast to push back the invasion of monsters and their hell dimension, all kinds of tech sprung up with the blue rock supplying the necessary energy to power it(i.e support frames so soldiers could carry heavy weapons, power armor attached to power cables that were transported by trains. Trains that were more like tanks in that they didn't need to run on rails but rather just plowed through whatever terrain with ease, etc.)

I state 'The premise of this setting is that archaic high technology exists and is functional'.

That's it. If I want to, I'll technobabble some explanation, but if I'm designing a setting and state my intention, that's enough IMO. If you're aiming for realism, cool, but if I'm not then bringing it up isn't really relevant.

Black Coin alternate Specialization (including Metal, and Custom possible for all girls) and Corruption.

Also includes the Motivations list, and a more grey second critter to avoid making the puchuus look brighter by comparison.

You don't need to roll an extra die if you're actually using the coin for corruption, only if you want it to be a random chance.

Clarification: Unlike the main CYOA, Black Coin's Dark Magical Girl _DOES_ get her Specialization bonus as well as the DkMG bonus. THis is because the CYOA's DkMG bonuses were split between BC DkMG and BC Custom spec.

Note this is v0.73, a few typos and phrases improved over the version posted to the old threads.

(If you already have either of those perks, Choose another Support perk in their place)

2. You gain the Power of Friendship! Okay, Not really. You gain the Allies Perk and they receive an extra 3 Bronze Coins each. (If you already have Allies, They gain the Coins and you gain another Perk)

Embrace the Spark!
Choose a Virtue, Breaking your virtue will cause you to fall harder than a Paladin. You can survive if you have good friends but you'll always know you failed yourself.

Both:

1. Holy Weapon
You gain the effects of Dual Weapon and Enhanced Weapon on your First weapon, If you already have them it doubles their effectiveness, Your weapon becomes a Healing Artifact and a Purification Artifact. If you already have them the effect is doubled.

2. Holy Armor
Your outfit becomes a work of Art! Choose a second outfit type and combine the two, Your outfit gives double bonus stats.

Resident LotWfag here. Anywhere in particular you need help, or would giving the full mechanics rundown be useful? Yeah, the core book is annoyingly awfully laid out, which is a damn shame as it's a fucking great system.

A friend said that he found it easier to get through by reading it like a novel, rather than like he would a rulebook. It's got the annoying habit of blending fluff and crunch together, and half the time it kind of uses fluff examples to explain crunch.

I'd say give it a once over, then focus on combat and Kung fu, which are the meat of the system. After you've wrapped your head around that, you can touch the confusing yet awesome thing which is Secret Arts.

Character would be a magic user who enjoys controlling/transforming others and making them his servants or slaves. So yes, it works perfectly fine and is in fact perfectly amiable to most game's Wizards in general.

The repair bay was honestly a rather plan looking facility. There was a single large communal pool in the center of the room. On one side of the room were a line of smaller pools, more suited to small groups of may six or so people. On the other side, there were a couple rows of even smaller pools the size of bathtubs, no doubt for shipgirls who wanted to bathe alone. Then there was a door that led to the showers and dressing rooms. In between it all were floors and walls made of nothing but sterile white tile, and thick steam hung in the air, partially obscuring your vision and soaking restorative moisture into your parts not completely submerged.

Captain Takeuchi recommended that you stay in here for at least another 10 minutes to completely heal. You had half a mind to leave and retry the course, but then again, your rig was undergoing priority repair at Shen's workshop...
