Excuse me, Divine Valar, but where do dwarves go when they die? I know the fates of humans, elves, and hobbits, and I assume orcs just disappear, but what about dwarves?

So, you're going to just keep making these, as soon as when one falls off?

And you're just going to be repeating old topics, over and over again?

Why? Why are you so invested in making these lazy threads?

Regardless of how you pay, all things cost what they cost, but there’s a certain kind of satisfaction that comes from freeing yourself of past debts. There isn’t anything else to hold you back, now, there only comes finishing all of this.

You take a long sip from your tea, basking in the light of the early morning, completely alone.

The generals of Kyraen’Asils were less than pleased to hear about what seemed to be a normal Caelumnite commanding over them. However any flecks of rebellion were utterly quashed once they saw what your flame is capable of, and of course, the testimony of that blind woman seemed to carry significant weight for them. So now their army will very soon be in Impel, where they’ll soon be put to use.

The healers confirmed your thoughts that, after a few short weeks of recovery, Aya will have left your battle with only scars. Even with her no longer holding the position of ruler, her citizens are quite relieved that she’s still alive.

As soon as you saw that your orders were well underway, and once the long bothersome seal had been removed from Kyraen’Asils, you returned to Impel.

You only took a small break to wash up, and catch your breath before you head to Ali to decide on what both your next moves should be.

A familiar looking pale child enters the terrace where you chose to relax. She directly approaches your small table, and slumps into the seat next to yours. Long lines of sewn up skin run across her limbs and sullen face.

The child turns to you. “Even in these barbaric times, I didn’t expect anyone to be so fucking barbaric as to have mechanized traps protecting them.”

You quickly piece together what likely brought this child before you.

“Your lead turned something up after all…” You take another sip from your tea.

Justina scoffs and then looks around the veranda. “Got any more of that? My throat is killing me.”

You slide the cup over to her, it's a bit too sweet for your liking anyway.

She quickly gulps down most of what’s left. “Ahh…” She rubs her throat and sighs. “I don’t get why I’m still feeling the wound on this body…”She turns to you to clarify. “Metal spike, right to the throat. If this body was any taller, then I’d really be gone.”

You always suspected that it wouldn’t be an easy feat to kill her. Now the question is who was it that got the drop on someone as capable as her…but you have your suspicions.

“That Occultist was more dangerous than you had anticipated…” You state quietly, testing the most likely theory.

She clicks her tongue in dissatisfaction, and then shakes her head in defeat. “I told him I wanted to talk. He said to go away and never come back. I insisted. He told me to go away if I valued my life and then he walked into his hovel.” She rubs her eyes. “I followed the bastard…”

Where upon her original body met her end.

“So, what’s your plan now?” You ask casually.

She sprawls her small body across the table. “Fix up this body, gather some more resources, and then get my revenge by stealing all his secrets then killing him.”

“And my favor?” You press.

Her head falls to the table and she’s silent for quite some time. “Don’t think you could find it in yourself to forget about that? Or at the very least make it something easy that I could do quickly? I’m headed back to the human realm where the pickings are easier.”

You carefully consider what use, if any, you could get out of her favors at this point.

The actual memorial stuff is... Well, you're a bit bored by the events therein, but you're here for your job anyway. It's much more social an event than you'd expected, a lot of people you don't know talking to other people you don't know about things you don't care about.

Looking disinterested in catchings-up and the like is Jorden, that half-manakete you met earlier. The only person who he seems to be giving the time of day is a woman who has more of the typical manakete features, looking generally younger than him.

Natalie, Yancy, Yulea, and a brown-haired woman you don't recognize all talk about something or another.

Reese and that Jay guy are reminiscing and generally seem to be having as great a time as one could have in the circumstances.

Cargia is sharing some anecdote you're only half-paying attention to with you, Marrius, Lyeim, and Leigh.

>A. Approach Jorden
>B. Approach Yancy and all them
>C. Approach Reese and Jay
>D. Try to pay closer attention

Im playing a 3.5 Beguiler and using Silent Image to "shield" severely wounded allies with illusionary magical rock, hide the party behind illusionary double walls when we expect an ambush or would like to be more than the party face to a meeting, and making illusionary walls to block off passages when we chase someone or are trying to flee.

Now someone in the group, I dont know who, has complained that I am power gaming casters and solving everything with this single spell.

Am I a terrible player for using Silent Image in creative ways, or is the player a dick? Does anyone else experience shit like this? I deliberatly chose Beguiler so I would not seem too powerful to the rest of the team (they are all old players, but not excatly what you would call optimizers to put it politely) and I am not whoring around with save-or-suck spells either.

Pic related, it was my face when I discovered this. My DM is also in the same boat as the other players, so I might actually face a houseruled nerf to Silent Image......

All of that sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Why is this a contest? Why are players complaining about something that is an obvious benefit to them?
>>
>>43644304
He's a dick, you're using the spell in a creative manner and there is nothing wrong with that.
>>
>>43644348
I have no idea. I am using my shit to buff the team and make other players shine excatly because I know my group has a pretty "damage is best"-view of DnD and they know that I am able to optimize characters quite a bit if I wanted to (which is also why I explicitly made a promise that I would only make shit which suits the caracter 100% and not optimize anything". I have no words for this and I really need to know I am not alone in this.

I mean, who the fuck complains that another player saves lives in the group, by making opponents think a wounded character just got encased in magical rock or that pursuers think a sewer got blocked off, so the group can escape certain death?

In what's probably going to be one of the more bizarre questions on /tg/ today, I need help playing a character WITHOUT a personality.

See, Shadowrun has a quality called "Blank Slate", where abusing personafixes (personalities loaded onto data chips) basically erases any personality you had yourself, and you only have one when you have a chip loaded. Since there's going to be circumstances where I don't have a personafix available (I know my DM well enough to know this will happen), I need to figure out what I'm supposed to do to play a character who has no defining personality.

Any advice? I don't want to make my character suck, but I also don't want to break the spirit of the quality.

Pic unrelated.

Emotionless characters are pretty fun when the other characters around them make up for it.
I main a Krieger in DH. The rest of the party attempts to humanize him to no avail.

Complete emotionlessness, catatonic state or complete breakdown (as in, "lie down and clutch head" breakdown, not "REEEEEEEE" breakdown).

A purely reaction based nature. No actual opinions beyond survival and a measure of comfort.

Maintenance of equipment, training and general efficiency come first.

I don't think I'm cut to be a DM.

My players just won't stop making my life living hell, and they're doing it involuntarily. Every time, every session, they come up with a completely retarded plan and they get upset if I voice my objections. They think they're clever and think that I'm railroading them because "I care too much about my boring campaign" but they come up with balls to the wall retarded as fuck plans that would get them killed/arrested in real life in every single outcome. And then when they try to use diplomacy, it's even worse. They say completely fucking retarded things, out of touch even with the fake reality of the game and expect it to work because they rolled a 20. It gets even worse when they try to be clever and "pushy" but they just end up saying psychotic as fuck shit and roll intimidation for it and expect things to work out in ways that don't involve being riddled with arrows.

But despite all the lapses in common sense, I can't make nature run its' course and create actual consequences for their dumb as shit actions because I 1. Don't want the game to die and 2. Don't want to be called "that DM".

Fucking kill me please.

Ignoring the fact that this is obvious bait, you're obviously not in any way the DM for them and they're not the group for you. Either you buck up and change your whole style to suit them, or you leave and obey the old maxim of "no game is better than bad game". Or actually talk to them about it face-to-face instead of bottling it all up like a passive-aggressive fuck.

You've been walking for what seems like forever. There was only way to go, and that was deeper into this sickening shaft. The further you went, the wetter it got, which meant that once packed and dry dirt would shift into muddy slopes. It's fortunate that you could see perfectly fine in the dark, or this situation would have been much worse than it already was. These were your thoughts as you ducked under another web of water, not bothering to tear it down as you frowned at the gem like eyes glimmering from further within.

You are not Irue Valen. You are a Doppleganger, an apparition of Shade, born to emulate, consume, and eventually replace your creator. Through a series of selfish events, your creator proved themselves to be a greater monster than the insecurities you had been born from, and now you've been stuck with their leash around your neck as you're forced to live their life. Cut off from your own nature, and trapped with thoughts and emotions that something like you should never have been capable of in the first place, you've begun to realize that something composed entirely of insecurities and fears made for a poor human, and a worse leader.

For months you had struggled to pull together even the barest progress. Some kind of success; First to try and throw off the weight of the bracelet pressing into your wrist, later to have some accomplishment to call your own. The life you lived was not your own, but when the line between Irue Valen and yourself blurs, and each experience is made with your own voice, its difficult to say that the people around you are only important to someone else.

From the start, you had been unable to find the value in these so called 'Testaments' that Irue kept so close, and as you forged listlessly deeper into the mines, you felt only a roiling twist in your gut at the thought of Ari. Her refusal to cooperate was what had sparked those events, what had led to the collapse. If she had died... If she had died, would you feel anything but satisfaction?

You rubbed at your wrist absently. There was no weight there, no sentiment of displeasure from the monstrous human who had forced their life on you. They had been silent since the cave in, and you had too little knowledge to venture a guess as to why. The respite was welcoming anyway, as that mindless berserker who had thrust you into this mess was just another thing you resented. They had spoken grandly about teaching you why they couldn't give up, and through your own blood, sweat and tears, with an aching body and racing heart, you had held the fates and lives of those peasants in your hands. You had fought beside them, worked to earn their respect, awkwardly shouldered the burden of their hopeful eyes.

...For what? You can't even say they had ripped it from you on purpose. There was no thought involved in that violence. It was the same selfish, thoughtless monster which had bound you in the first place. Stolen your nature from you, and left you to muddle through these confusing feelings and trials. If Ari had died, good riddance. If that monster despaired over it, then at least then they would feel the same wrenching pain of loss and failure that you did over your knights.

Your Knights. Not Irue's. Irue never looked them in the eye, never gave them an order. They were yours.

....They 'were'.
>>
You are a Doppleganger, born of fear and insecurities. You were never meant to lead a human life, or truly experience the emotions that bore you. You were a reflection of someone else.

The seething resentment in your veins which drove you forward was something you were never supposed to learn the taste of.

Were you even a Doppleganger anymore?

What were you?

...You shake your head, gritting your teeth as you stare down one of the skittering Atlach Nacha. Introspective contemplations could wait, you still had things to do.

If you continued to go down, you'd probably find that underground spring you had come for in the first place. It was just a matter of following the slope and moisture to its conclusion. On the other hand, it seemed like the Atlach Nacha's territory was gradually beginning to diverge from that destination. The Undine was known for being territorial, but also closely associated with secrets; If you actually forged deeper into their nest, you would definitely get a fight... But what if they had been guarding something lost in this mineshaft?

And what about getting out? Only a handful of your knights had actually followed you down into this cesspit. With the majority still waiting for your return on the surface, wasn't your responsibility to try and make it back to them? Even if the way you came in had caved in, these numerous twisting passages may conceal another exit somewhere - If you didn't become lost, first.

>Continue to the spring.
>Investigate the Atlach Nacha's nest.
>Delve into the side passages to try and find the surface.

Burning winds char and polish the small planet circling close to the giant red star. The surface blasted away by powerful radiation storms and solar flares but yet this barren rock held a secret. A rather violent secret, it would seem.

The large gallery of pillars and columns was in even worse state than when your undead forces marched in. The powerful telekinetic monolith lay shattered and broken, the crystalline veins running through the gray stone crumbling at the touch.

The Voidknight Disciple gathers a small handful of the soldiers to himself and begins a quick search of the room as you kneel by the sundered monolith. It had spoken in cryptic words and knew of your power. It had nearly killed you and your soldiers but it had seemingly not expected your desperate gamble of tapping into your newly acquired affinity with the Void.

Elsewhere in the system Think Tanks are hard at work commanding your reconstructed soldiers and the enslaved minions of the two fleets. Already the framework of large buildings are being raised on the surface of the moon or caverns dug into and expanded under the surface.

Lorgul proves to be a dutiful warden, keeping your new workforce busy and "eager" to work. Even Jor was doing his part in attempts to sooth the worries of at least his fellow humans but even some of the Daggers and the occasional Osjiic move along with their tasks after a few words with the man.

Your hold on this star system was nearly complete and soon you will be out among the stars at the head of a new fleet. The Galaxy will know your name once more and know the fear that once infected every planet.

Your soldiers collect the pieces of the broken monolith and their broken comrades, gathering them in piles for transport back to your Cauldrons for inspection. The Disciple returns saying the gallery hall continues for quite a distance but they detected no more Monoliths. They did find a large hallway leading into the darkness, the Cyclops peering in to reveal a large stone door sealed further in.

The Think Tank you had brought with you was still doing a survey of the planet searching for anything interesting. You still had two other Coffins waiting for you and you could leave now to return to your forces or push further into the strange ruins. Do you grant your players XP even if they don't beat an encounter? I've been running Keep on the Shadowfell and my players killed all the kobold outside the Kobold Den, and almost all inside. Instead of them dying I just had them wake up in the corner of the cave all tied up together and continued from there. But I'm not sure if I should grant them any XP.

>>
If you want to encourage murderhoboism then sure make it so they have to kill everything to get the XP. I'd rather they do the encounter intelligently rather then make them grind everything to dust
>>
3.5 onwards (maybe earlier editions) make the point that overcoming the encounter is enough to earn experience points.

So sneaking past a group of goblins or knocking them out gives the same XP as killing them.
>>
If the players overcome the challenge, they get the XP.

This Volume, on Feral Necromancer Quest: You were banished from your tribe for practicing necromancy, and killing two of your elders in self- defence. You had bound your lover's, Bathory's, spirit to her skull, rather than allow her to die. She hated you for it. You found temporary dwelling in a cave in the forest, and soon met your neighbors- an elven tribe, and a pack of gnolls. Despite the prejudice of the elves and despite the monstrous nature of the gnolls you eventually made allies of them both through trickery and diplomacy both.

From one of your bound elven spirits you learned the location of an ancient elven ruin. You went there, and learned that it was the resting place of a near-dead immortal necromancer. You released his spirit into the afterlife, gained the ruin, a sword, and a considerable library in exchange. You moved in here.

You met with the local dwarves and re-connected with the human tribes. You killed an orcish tribe and would later kill all that remained of the drow. And gods started bothering you.

Two elves, Lathrien and Melandie joined you. Lathrien as a sort of a hostage, and a sort of an apprentice. Melandie joined you because she felt like it. You quickly befriended the both of them despite any past differences.

As you delved deeper into the library and learned more and more of the secrets that lay within, eventually you learned enough alchemy to create a homunculus replica of Bathory's body. With your magic you managed to transfer her soul to it. You returned Bathory her body, and eventually she forgave you for any past transgressions.

You engaged in skirmishes with the humans, but ultimately made peace, with a good number of them moving in near the borders of your lands.

Winter came. To prove your might and benevolance to the world you chose the winter as the time to hold a grand diplomatic feast for all of the tribes together. It was a great success, until the hangover got interrupted by a drow invasion. (cont.)

You repelled their forces, though not without losses. The elven elder, who had become somewhat a friend and certainly a close ally died at the hands of drow. You had your vengeance. You collapsed a mountain on their misbegotten kind.

Then you set out on a journey to the sea, for a traditional elven burial. It went relatively smoothly, as you certainly did not find any ancient enchantress lady. On your way back, however, you did meet a race of sea-dwelling humanoids, the Mer.

You learned that Bathory is pregnant.

After returning from your travels to the sea, you soon set out into the desert to find the temple of Pern and the secret of immortality. On the way there you met strange orcs, strange elves, and a stranger gnome- creature, but ultimately nothing could stop you.

You decided not to take up vampirism, but Lathrien was more convinced of the value of the curse. He willingly took up the curse of vampirism, for immortality and for power.

You returned, rescued dwarves from giant spiders, kobolds from slavery and fought an ancient draco-lich.

When you returned, you were under siege within a week. Human worshippers of Pern assaulted your stronghold, and you just barely beat them back. You defeated their forces entirely, and followed them back to the human lands, liberating village after village from their grasp.

And that is where the thirty first installment of Feral Necromancer Quest ended.

Vlad Tepish: You, a necromancer and shaman of great skill on a quest for immortality. Your constant and insistent attempts at diplomacy with the neighboring tribes has made you a well-respected force in the area.

Bathory: Your lover and companion, brought back to life into an alchemical body. She is pregnant with your child. A skilled diplomat in her own right she brings stability and counsel to your company.

Lathrien: Your apprentice and the first vampire, he is getting better at controlling his new powers, which are substantial. The first to gain immortality among your party, he is stronger, faster and more charming than ever before.

Melandie: A huntress, a berserker, an elf. She is quick to anger and her rage is terrible, but she has learned to control her emotions better recently. The runeblade she wields still impacts her emotions, but it is unlikely to break her mind or kill her any longer.

Korg: Your orcish blackguard, he is bound to your will. He wields a great hammer and cares for few things more than to use it in battle. A creature of simple pleasures and sins he is a destructive force on the battlefield and a cunning creature in planning.

Halivean: Known to you as Hal, he is your desert elf blackguard. Fanatically loyal to you and with some basic skill in necromancy and tactics he is a vital lieutenant to your forces. His agility is exceptional and his skill with a blade and bow is significant, but where he shines is leading undead into battle.

Karist: Dwarven runesmith and elder.

Spot: Gnoll rogue and boss.

Vlad the Kobold: Kobold leader.

Amythrien: Elven craftsman and elder.

Sheila: Human elder from your village.

Your relaxing stay at the island resort has taken a turn for the strange when some of your friends seem to have fallen under some kind of amorous spell that causes them to become obsessed with you. Well, even more than they already were. Normally you wouldn't mind, but you can spy a possible disaster on the horizon. You need to fix this, and fast.

You have managed to disable and augment the enchantment placed upon you by Cocoa Torres, preventing you from inflicting the ailment known as 'Burning Heart' on any more of your suitors, however you still face the task of curing those still infected.

You are Makoto Kiryoka; a teenage boy with a penchant for getting into strange situations. You bear the power of the magical girl Maiden White against the wicked souls that seek to terrorise the innocent.

Awakening on the cushioned floor of Cocoa Torres' beach hut is a new experience for you. The light feeling of sand flowing onto your face from the beach alongside the salty air and distinct sight of a sun rising over the ocean through the giant hole in her wall. Right, she should probably fix that; not that anyone in their right mind would try and take advantage of her. They're probably be on fire before they ever had the chance to pinch anything.

Speaking of the woman in question, Cocoa is lying next to you on the ground - fast asleep and with a dumb grin that matches Shun next to her. You smile at the both of them. See? Free love solves everything.

Well, maybe not potentially insanity-inducing, heart-melting curses. But it managed to put your mind at ease for a while.

You stretch your back out and get a feeling for your body. It feels a little different this morning - and not just because you're still carrying sand on you. You reverted back to your male form by sleeping- which has the unfortunate side-effect of losing your Maiden White garments. Thanks to Cocoa burning your clothes (if you could call that bikini 'clothes'), you're buck naked right now.

"Mn..." You grumble, blushing a little bit at the sight. You could try and get back to your room for proper clothing, but you'd run the risk of running into someone. Early morning streakers probably aren't too common here...

As you stir and awaken, you hear a similar sound beside you as Shun rises, yawning loudly. She glances at you, blinking blearily, but smiling all the same once she recognizes you.

"Ahhn~ morning Mako." She mutters in between yawns, rubbing her eyes.

"Sleep well?" You ask her. She nods back.

"Oogh, like a rock!" She replies, wrapping her arms around her legs, grinning. "Ahh man, I can't believe last night! Two cute girls, ahehe~" She giggles lightly to herself.

"Well, one of them's still here." You say, gesturing to Cocoa beside her. Shun looks down and flinches at the sight - evidently she hadn't noticed the snoring. As per the usual, the sight of Ms Torres' chest has Shun transfixed, and she giggles to herself again. You pout.

"I'm more naked than she is."

"Ah- I'm sorry." She's quick to respond. You blink at her.

"So, how's that spell working for you? The Burning Heart?" You ask, leaning forward. "Dooo you want to jump me right now?" You ask. Shun blinks and rubs the back of her head.

"Ehh, a little bit. But I'm not super obsessed with it."

"Good, then it worked," you sigh, relieved, "I doubt it cured the others, but fixing the spell means it's not going to get any worse."

"Do you know how to fix our buds?" Shun asks, rocking back and forth. You shake your head.

"Still working on that."

How much social pressure is there to start a family in the JR?

Its kind of like everywhere else, space is at a premium, so having kids is seen as a privilege, not a right. There is probably a lot of competition and having children is seen as a status symbol.

PREVIOUSLY: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Tank+Witches+of+Orussia

Two days had passed since your return to the rear. You’ve had some run ins with trucks carrying replacements and materiel to the front, but nothing particularly exciting. Aurelia at least volunteered to handle checkpoint duty while the rest of you lazed about with the excuse of taking watch. Already you were getting a bit of cabin fever sitting and moping about in the bunker. What the girls painted on your Striker was not too drastic at least but… well, you’re not going to let them know you disapprove of it somewhat. Maybe it’ll grow on you.

For now, the biggest enemy you face is boredom. Your mother always said that sloth was sinful and this was no different. So what were you doing to pass the time? Why, you were polishing your Striker, for the fifteenth time. Your hands were just as shiny and bright as the steel before you. You could turn this thing into a giant sun ray with how shiny it was on just this one particular thigh too. Maybe if you’re lucky, what little sun there is out in Orussia will reflect off of it and burn the watchtower down. That’ll give you something to do! Fighting fires!

Of course, you don’t want to do it with Thorn inside of it, which she now currently is. She scans the horizon. You had received word that the front was actually beginning to stall again as the Army was running into fiercer and fiercer resistance deeper into the country of Orussia. Mines were no longer remaining stationary, they were actually burrowing through deep snow and charging at tanks and isolated soldiers. Butchers were hiding in houses and bursting out to ambush supply columns. The Neuroi were even leaving flamethrower traps to catch advance columns of infantry. You have to say, it must be absolutely horrific being a regular.

Good thing you aren’t.

You sigh, leaning back on your Striker and looking around. Aurelia sips on her coffee by the road, bundled up in a trenchcoat, a wool hat, and a helmet as she waits for newcomers. Rascal and Greta were busy building some sort of snow fort. And Thorn as usual was still scanning the horizon.

Ugh, you’re going to die of boredom. You shake your head, walking over to Greta and Rascal. “What are you two doing?” you ask.

“We’re building a fort,” says Rascal as she drops down into the surprisingly deep foundation. “I mean, it’s not like Neuroi are ever going to come around here, you know?”

“Don’t assume that,” you gently say. Greta and Rascal look up at you, looking very sad. Morale was starting to plummet in your unit from the boredom. It hasn’t even been a week and you’re already approaching breaking point. Maybe packing alcohol would’ve saved the five of you. “Look, we shouldn’t wish for the Neuroi to come. But… don’t assume that they’re never going to show up. We’re still on their turf you know?”

Greta folds her arms, sighing. “Goodness. I only wish that we could go back to the Front with Captain Kelly and her girls. This business of maintaining the rear is absolutely horrid!” She kicks the snow a bit, grumbling. “I’m going stir crazy here!”

“I’ve had to deal with this for two years, two days is nothing. Just try and relax.”

Rascal looks down, then around the unfinished fort. “Did you want to help us build our fort?”

> “No.”

Hey guys what if there was a chapter of SMs that were considered heretics because they were able to work with aliens on a regular basis, but whenever they did meet with other SMs, they ran cause they didn't want to fight. They only fight a Tyranid Hive Fleet attacking their home world because they have some kind of artifact that may bring the Emperor back to life or some shit like that. Tell me what you think!
