What's /tg/'s opinion on R. A. Salvatore? I remember really liking his books when I was 12, but I doubt I have the attention span for them these days.

Passably good fantasy fiction. Better if you like DND, worse if you hate drow. Some highpoints, some lowpoints. Overall slightly above average but you might want to avoid the barbarian in hell drama.
>>
>>43796532
Mixed feeling on my part.

Liked them for the most part when I was a kid, now get slightly pissed at them for being what so many players have copied to make characters.

Oh shit barbarian in hell part was godawful.

The books about assassin in some desert city or something were cool.

You hold back a groan as Hiss pats you on the head in what could be construed as a patronizing fashion. She probably doesn’t mean it though. Hiss doesn’t mean a lot of things. Your gut still hurts.

Aashenpreet stays back, observing this with a mixture of confusion and worry.
“Is it wise to antagonize the person who holds all your wishes, Hiss?”

“It’s okay, Cennen loves me and he knows that even if I get a little mad and carried away, I don’t really mean it.”
She helps you to your feet, holding you close. She’s very cold.
“And besides, he always makes cowardly wishes. It’s really nothing to fear.”

It is at this point that Oster returns, a stack of kindling in his arms. He looks at all of you and shrugs, dumping the firewood on the ground.
“I’m not going to ask.”

Before long, he’s got a nice fire going. You’d question why you would need it just yet as the sun has not yet gone down but Hiss and Aashenpreet are already crowding around it. Maybe they’d grown too accustomed to the heat of Quedesh.
Oster sits further back, whittling at a chunk of wood with a thin knife. Another mask?

“Hey Cennen, what are you doing? Come sit here.”
Hiss beckons you down to sit beside her, having apparently already forgotten about her momentary violence against you.

>Sit and talk with her

>Go brew instead.

>Make sure the Bunyip is doing fine instead.

>Sit down but not near her.

>Use a Potion (Specify)

Well met again teegee. I come to you for a very specific reason. I draw, /tg/, drawing is my life, quite literally. And I of course am a not-quite-elegan/tg/entleman, or I wouldn't be here. So those things happen to mesh in a very specific way: you think, I draw. It is easy, really: I will, in the next post, give you what we call a "skeleton" (not that kind) and you will tell me what to do of it. Of course, as long as it is /tg/ related. Elf ears, tails, horns, armor of all kinds, a giant d20, a meltagun, robe and wizard hat, all goes. For you it is a test of creativeness, for me, a test of skills. Dare you enter this magical experience again, /tg/?

I think that the status of the normal people aboard Space Marine ships and planets should be expanded upon.

Like the Iron Hands just use servitors, the Black Templars have zealot slaves, the Ultramarines have a mix of servitors/guardsmen with some sort of Ultramar flare.

Fuck, now I want a Roman/Byzantine themed Guardsmen army as the garrison of Ultramar.
>>
>>43795535
I'm currently rereading the Night Lords Omnibus and the segments describing the everyday life of the slaves on the Covenant are just pure crack.

My Rogue Traders theme song is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQeud5on3mY

He's basically a Mexican General-turned-businessman with the Machismo turned up to 11, who was forced to become a Rogue Trader because of rivals vying for Lord Commander of his homeworld Guard regiments, and now he goes out of his way to fuck with the guy who removed him from the picture (who is now Lord Commander) by fucking him over at every possible time while still making his homeworld and himself wealthy, and banging basically anything with a vagina (organic and mechanical), including pretty much all female members of his crew.

He also has an elderly woman who acts as his aide, whom he calls "Abuela," and she is the only person who can berate him and scold him on the entire ship (which she often does). Nobody knows how old she is, but she's been around for at least as long as he's been a RT, and that's been 110 years, and everybody remembers her only being old.

God save El Presidente-Generalissimo Manuel Constantino Reynaldo Corono-Modelo de Tecate.

Announcement, a retcon, and a fix.

Most immediately, I answered the pile-up of questions in the ask.fm but I want to clarify regarding cats and dogs; dogs are definitely rare, cats are less so but feral populations do persist. Cats have a decreased life span and a number of parasites and predators compete with or openly attack the feral populations but as cats themselves represent such a good evolutionary template that pseudo-cats exist in places with no actual feline population I think it is reasonable that they would survive into the future.

Pic related: A mongoose that has evolved cat-like features.

As for the first retcon, the Elevon definitely has a back seat. I know the picture I posted lacks one but there is a small backseat that I referred to several times since it first appeared. It was always intended to have one and I apologize for any confusion the image may have caused.

The second retcon is that a gas mask and taser that were missing from your inventory after you picked them off the body of the dead Scyth in the vets office have been restored. To make up for this, I also added a single taser grid to your stock.

An exterminator, a little girl, and a pedophile get into a car. Your situation is the punchline.

Robert sits beside you in the passenger seat, head lolling back and forth with the motion of the car. Silver line of drool drizzles on his bare chest, his shirt having again been tied around his wrists. His daughter is in the backseat, laid out on her side. She hasn’t been conscious for several hours now but her breathing seems steady enough.

You’re descending once more from Tai Mo Shan, trying to concentrate as you struggle not to get too involved in the turns. Robert represents a major ace for you now that you’ve holo-recorded his confession and, if you turn him over to Crusty you’ll have given them the leverage they desire over Vice Administrator Shan.

On the other hand, an innocent man goes on trial this Saturday for a crime the Shans commited. If you handed over Robert to them, they might be able to set the record straight. Alternately, you could try and use Robert’s knowledge to get some evidence exposing Mrs. Shan herself…

Regardless, you need to satisfy Mrs. Shan’s call for the death of her husband before she blows the bomb in your neck.

None of these choices seem very good…

>call Crusty
>call Lopez
>call Amanda
>Kill Robert, bring his corpse or some other trophy back for Mrs. Chan
>write-in

>siding with Chaos over Law
>ever
Do you respect a murderer's freedom to murder?
It is possible for a lawful society to have a decent quality of life throughout, various protected human rights, and a consistent way to resolve disputes. It's not slavery because you can leave, you can vote, and you can run for office. All civilized beings recognize that morality does not begin and end with "but I wanna".
Everyone being brainwashed and identical is only one way the cosmic ideal of Law can manifest, but having no laws at all? That's always just kill or be killed, and the only people who want that are the ones who naively assume they'd be on top of the food chain.

>siding with law
>siding with chaos
This isn't good vs evil where one side is objectively better than the other. Both law and chaos need to be taken in moderate amounts and not go overboard, or things go to shit. Too much law? Stagnation, restriction, burecracy. Too much chaos? Lawlessness, incohate knowledgekeeping, general craziness.

Laws are a means to an end, just as innovation, freedom and freethinking is.

You shouldn't side with law or chaos, any more than you should side with time or space or art or science.

Use them, but remember that they aren't something of themselves, they're goddamn tools.

>>43793998
I've played it, and I like it. It's probably the first system I have ever seen that embraces the common desire among players to advance the technology level of the world and play civilization, and merges it with more traditional adventure.
The main dice mechanics is kinda -death-spiraly, especially in combat, and using your mutants powers comes with the risk of permanently fucking yourself up. I normally don't like such mechanics, but it fits the theme and setting of the game so well that I don't mind.

Also, what little shred of patriotism i have compels me to ask: Are you Swedish too or are foreigners actually taking an interest in this game?

For games that roll pools of dice, which do you prefer? d6? d10? d12

Do you have a preference? Why?
21 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
d4 or go home
>>
d10 dicepools tend to work best, IMO. The 1-10 range is a nice, mathematically simple degree of variation, with enough swing for results to matter but without the absurd highs and lows of D20/D% stuff. Of course dicepools can spread that chance all the more, but d10s also lend themselves to various interesting dicepool mechanics which would be less viable without the simple decimal number set.
>>
I'm going to vote d6.

For practical reasons, they are cheaper and easier to come by.

For aesthetic reasons, I think they make a better clatter on the table and feel better in the hand. Since they fit well against each other, they also take up less space. Perhaps because I'm a wargamer as well, I find something inherently satisfying about dropping a boatload of d6s on the table.

For mechanical reasons, if all you need is a binary pass/fail, then you don't need anything more complicated or granular. If you are fooling with anything that adjusts the number being rolled against, then each shift is more important (16% vs 10%). If you're doing any kind of exploding dice or 1s=Bad, d6s will make that happen more often and make that mechanic more likely to come up in play. Of course, if you want the 1s/explosions to come up less often, or you want TN shifts to have a smaller impact, then these are obviously negatives.

You and Elia slowly inch your way closer to the aurochs herd, staying low in the grass. You spot a cow slightly more separated from the herd and you silently sign to Elia that she is your target. Closer and closer, you edge into range of your javelins and Elia fits a stone into his sling. Just as you are about to rise however, disaster strikes! The wind changes and as one mass, the aurochs lift their heads and catch your scent. There's a low, roaring moo of rage, as you stand, pulling your arm back. Elia's stone flies, but simply bounces off the auroch's tough hide and strong bones. Your javelin leaps from your hand and bites, hanging out of the creature's shoulder as it turns. More than the stone, the sharp wooden shaft pains and angers the cow so much that she screams and as one wall of muscle, the herd begins to move.

The earth shakes as they run towards you, stampeding through the grass and leaving it trampled, as you scramble to run! You have enough presence of mind at least to run diagonally, hoping to escape the herd's path of destruction, but just as it seems you're about to make it, the herd is upon you! A bull's broad horns pass either side of you and you feel its skull slam into your spine! With a toss of its head, its horn rips along your ribs and back and you are thrown into the air, landing in a sprawling heap, just to the side of the herd's thundering hooves. You lay in a small heap, covering your head with your arms and your legs curled up under you as the unstoppable force crashes by.

Finally, the stampede passes by and you hear Elia hurrying over to you. "Trym! Trym, are you alright?"
"What do you think?" you groan in response, slowly un-curling and gritting your teeth at the pain.
"It doesn't look like anything's broken... And the cut's not deep. Thank goodness. That was bad luck with the wind."

You and Elia bind your injury as best you can. The cut may not be deep, but the sheer impact of the massive beast's bulk has cracked and bruised your ribs badly. You will suffer -1 to your strength until they heal. With no other choice left in the face of your injuries. You are forced to return to the clan.

You slowly make your way back up the valley to the clan. Beren sees your injuries and just shakes her head, after she hears your story of how you got them. "And you didn't even win? What did you expect? You and Elia can't bring down an auroch on your own!"

It is currently late summer. You have enough food stockpiled to see one person through another half a season.
