About a week ago I made a thread asking for an introduction to 40k lore.
There's one thing I still don't get, why does THE EMPRAH hate Chaos?
Why do Daemons n stuff want to kill humanity if feelings and religion is what they feed of?
>>43804118
Because Chaos is an insane, inherently self-destructive force. It exists to consume and annihilate everything, and that includes itself. The Chaos Gods spend most of their time fighting each other.
>>43804118
Because chaos can't get reasoned with and the grimdark nature of the setting made the chaos gods single-mindedly want to enslave or destroy reality to their apparently incomprehensible and paradoxical will because.
It's chaos shit doesn't have to be explained, really.
The only thing that could explain this is that the gods were born majorly from negative and destructive emotions and from them seek to make more of them happen leading to a death spiral of reality.
But then again, chaos and logic don't go hand in hand.
Emprah hates chaos because emprah wants a future for mankind while chaos wouldn't allow it.
>>43804118
Note that chaos is shaped by emotions, but in the end it's fed by souls.
Souls remain even after death.
Kinda.
Chaos, actually defies logic and reason anyway.

What's the best chapter of the badab war and why?

>What's the best chapter of the badab war and why?
Probably Red Scorpions because overall spotlight snowflakes, Fire Angels because they had so many awards they could just go "Fuck this, fuck those guys, we're out" and they were allowed to leave with high honors, Carcharodons for actually blowing up Badab Primaris, Minotaurs for bringing the most pressure, along with the Carcharodons, Star Phantoms for actually netting the "kill" on Huron.

I hear you're talking shit about my mate Huron. Like the Emperor says, talk shit, get hit. >:(

Seriously though. What Class was Smiles? Did he just outright trivialize combat through what seemed to you some bullshit ability?
As an Anima GM with some experience under their belt, maybe I can help you figure out what happened.
Help me /tg/.
I'm trying to cripple a character as much as possible without removing hope that they'd make a realistic combat threat.
What I got so far is missing an eye and an arm, one leg is crippled through a movement impairing cut and their heart beat has grown irregular from repeated physical trauma.
LISA headbutting is going a little too far, people in the setting are only as resilient as mundane humans.
Leprosy or some other transmissible disfiguring disease that has combat applications
>>43803677
Honestly, anyone who's lost a limb is not going to be much of a threat. A hook hand or a pegleg is as far as I'd go.
>>43803677
Make them a pirate. Nobody will question too much, though I think the heart thing is a bit much if you don't want a glaring weakpoint to be hit for massive damage.
Mate in 2
1. e8=R! Kg2 2. O-O-O-O-O-O#
Queen the pawn, then move the right rook?
>>43803637
I think that would stalemate. Reverse the order.
So, I've been thinking about how common it is for heroes to rise up and strike down gods/overlords/whatever that see them as vermin.
And it makes me ask:
What is the appropriate response to some cockroaches showing up and rider kicking craters into walls while yelling about justice and their slain comrades?
>>43803399
Stand up, walk over to the closet, and start rummaging around for the bug spray.
>>43803399
The correct response is "Johj!"
If that happened to me? I'd be full well willing to cooperate and give them what they want, and not out of fear but interest.
How exactly does high ground give an advantage in melee combat? What's the mechanism? I want to understand.
>>43803280
The thread is still easily accessible in the archive you unimaginative fuck.
Actually, in my mind, the reason this gave Obi Wan the advantage was because he was in the opposite position against Maul all those years ago.
After escaping from that, he decided to research the best defenses when you have the high ground.
Anakin would have known this and the fact that he took the risk anyway shows a severe hubris that he believes he can, simply through his own strength in the force, overcome an opponent who has studied and learned exactly what to do in the situation.
>>43803280
Situational modifier.
What would happen in a Scifi setting where science has definitively proven that
1) Our universe as we know it is a simulation.
2) It was created by something.
Weird shit
Also, those that posted thumbnails would be publicly flogged.
>>43803268
Then metagaming would be perfectly fine and NPCs would be second class citizens.
So, /tg/, how to I into MTG? I've never played it before (but I've played other ccgs) and it seems really interesting. It looks really complicated but I'm willing to go through lots of reading if need be.
Wait, getting into Magic? I thought you automatically learned the game and received cards once you stayed a virgin past a certain age threshold.
>>43802548
I'm impatient and won't reach wizardhood for another 12 yearsI just turned 18 last week but I've been lurking /tg/ and some porn boards since I was 16
>>43802509
Ask yourself one question: WHY do you want to play it?
Anyway, the best way of getting into Magic is - and this is something most people will fail to tell you - to find people you enjoy playing with. Either play with your friends or just visit your local store and see if you like the people there. Start with the Steam games first and then ask people at the store to lend you a deck to play with casually for the evening. Don't start with tournaments right off the bat (or maybe start with Draft if you feel your confident with the rules), and don't start with EDH/Commander because it will likely be too overwhelming. Start with simple 1-vs-1 games and go from there. Magic is an exploration and it can be really fun and rewarding as an experience.
Let's say you're new to tabletops, and you have to GM, because everyone else is a lazy fucker. You need a system that makes sense and can help compensate a bit for not having any GMing skill. What do?GURPS and D&D are both already out, after careful consideration and a few sessions of two editions of the latter.
>>43802390
Well, there's Dungeon World, which is kind of like taking a class in being an old-school GM.
If you're not good at bullshitting things on the fly, get ready to get some practice, though.
Just be sure to read and follow the GM rules, they're not just suggestions, they're important.

Fate can work if everyone involved can wrap their heads around it. Mostly good for more cinematic and pulpy games.
>>43802544
I looked over Fate before and didn't really get it. Can I get a tl;dr?
My friend's starting up a 5e group, with an anime-inspired campaign. I asked if I could play a Jonathan Joestar expy, and he agreed. So, /tg/, what would be the best way to stat and class the progenitor of all the JoJos (except Joshua bar Joseph)?
>>43802361
I'm not really intimately familiar with the details of any of that stuff, but let me just say that unless this is a level 16+ campaign he better curb his expectations somethin' fierce.
>>43802361
Obviously he'd be a monk, probably has some form of martial magic to emulate Hamon. Charisma and Intelligence up the ass, as well as damn good Strength and Constitution. Probably some feats to let him use Not Luck & Pluck properly. Also some stuff to give him huge bonuses when fighting undead.
>>43802361
Like >>43802582, you could do a monk, but you could also refluff a cleric with destruction or something for your domain.
So, my DM is pretty tough on us, I need some help on how to survive in a campaign with wacky monsters that act like god versions of themselves(trolls with 500+ hp, class levels above 9, bumped stats, and generally boosted everything).
He isn't unfair, he has been extremely apt to allow us creative freedom with our roleplaying, but the combat is brutal as all get out.
The grand total of deaths in his campaign is close to 15. The party level is averaging on 9-11. The system is 3.5, the only books he has banned are the dragon mag(and compendium).
Any and all suggestions needed.

The obvious answer is leave, but since you won't be doing that, I can tell you how I dealt with killer DMs, back in my younger days when I was too stupid to just leave and play with other people.
If the GM is going to kill you in every combat scenario, talking to him about it is your first step. I have never, NEVER had a GM improve as a result of this. Some have remained the same, others have become worse to punish us for questioning them. But even though it is pointless, you should still try and speak with him, say you're concerned, just in case he's one of these mythical GMs who supposedly exist who actually listen to feedback. Ask other players if they feel the same way to judge if you're just the odd man out, in which case, again, probably best to leave.
When he ignores you or becomes worse in retaliation, the only option you have (other than the option of leaving) is to invalidate him. You can't try and compete. For one thing, you'll never be able to minmax a character strong enough to overcome a dick GM who can simply alter reality at his whim. But more importantly, he WANTS you to try and beat him. He wants you to build more and more powerful characters so he can keep crushing them, your frustrated inability to defeat him increasing the blood flow into his dick, much like someone who goes on the internet and defeats children at a game he plays 40 hours a week as a way to stroke his ego.
Instead, do the opposite of what he wants, and create characters who refuse to engage with his bullshit. Play minmaxed face characters with low intelligence, severe apathy, and borderline depression. When things get dangerous, just give up. Constantly try to surrender to enemies, even as they pummel you to death. Act as though you just don't get it, and let him kill you over and over. Just keep shrugging it off and making the exact same useless character each time.
More often than not, this kills their spirit, and they give up.
Or you could leave.
>>43802282
Good advice, anon!
>>43802010
I'd just do what this guy said. If he's making combat difficult for you just refuse to do it. Whenever he sends a monster after you just have a winge about how unfair this campaign is and just refuse to try and have the least bit of fun with the campaign he's running as you possible can!Is it a combat orientated campaign because he's pushing you to do combat, or because the players constantly seek it out?
>>43802010
GM yourself, watch everyone have more fun when you're running the game, maybe That GM will get a clue (if only out of butthurt jealousy).
Discuss.
Yeah alright.

>What is it that makes a Horseman of the Apocalypse?
Hey /gents/, how's the night/day going?
I come to you for advice on a Mutants and Masterminds3equestion.
Basically, I'd like to trim a pl15-20 concept into a playable pl10 one.
Pic related.
What's essential for a Horseman of the Apocalypse?
Does Death need to have the full suite of powers? Or can he just be damn good at appearing somewhere and killing everything in the room?
Does War need to be good at all arenas, or can he just be a damn good swordsman or a crack shot?
Basically what I'm after is "How do you make a Horseman of the Apocolypse for a PC that's still recognisable as more than 'That guy who's really good at killing'?
And just as a side question, kind of related but not really, since we've had a few threads with people who seem to enjoy the Fate universe...
What are the limits on Servants anyway? Do they have to historical in some sense of the word, or can they be more conceptual like the Four Horsemen?Would their Phantasms be their Horses?
