Using the old picture as I haven't found a more fitting one yet.
Pastebin:http://pastebin.com/fKWXnjzd

The story so far(tl;dr):You are Johnathan, a boy who suffers from amnesia. You can't remember what happened in your past. You're currently in Yamaku, a school for students who have special needs. After a disastrous first day, following around a friend of yours you get caught by a group of girls performing a magic rite, and you're now unwillingly part of it. (read the bin for more info).

============

"I heeded your call, now, tell me: are thou my Master?"

The figure standing in front of you seems to be clad with some sort of futuristic dark armor, rather adherent over the body but thicker around the collar bone, the neck, shoulders, forearms and legs. The rather peculiar armor piece covering the collar bone and the shoulders seems to host a shining gem at the center of it.

The helmet is a blend of futuristic and classic, shaped more like a motorbike helmet but still flaunting a red plume on the top of it.

By know, the legless girl is holding her knife close, watching the odd scene unfold. The silence is thick all around you, and it's suddenly interrupted by the loud laughter of the girl with pink air

"Wahaha, the Newbie has summoned Saber! We should have been quicker"

"Not yet!" The legless, strawberry blonde girl seems determined
"Saber, if he refuses your offer, I will accept it".

"Is that so?" the answer comes in the same stern and deep voice from the armored figure. "I'd rather cut my legs than serve a coward like yourself."

This must sting, as the girl's face becomes a mask of anger.

"Enough, all of you." The blonde blind girl speaks up with authority."Newcomer, please be so courteous as to accept Saber's offer. Then we'll proceed with the discussion. Technically you're infringing the rules by summoning a Servant before the rules are laid, but we'll make an exception as you could not know them."

A defiant look in your face, you say "I accept your Oath, Saber. Rise as my Servant".

The other girls look at your general direction with hostility, and for the first time you feel like you have a bargaining chip in this complicated matter.

"I think I deserve an explanation now. What is this and what are you doing?"

"Right now", says the blind girl, "we're trying to settle the rules. As usual me and the deaf girl you see over there disagree."

'Oh, she's deaf' you think. 'Not talking with her was probably a good idea then. It also explains why the pink-haired girl talks in her place'

"You see, I try to always be moderate in my proposals, my wisdom always falls on deaf ears", she says with a mean half-smile.

The whole time, the pink-haired girl is signaling back and forth, probably translating for the deaf girl.

"Shicchan says that she's just proposing what's best for everyone, but you fail to see that. Whahaha Shicchan, that was funny!"

Clearly those two hate each other's guts. You presume that the topic of the conversation is the same as the last time.

"So, newbie: Shicchan wants to know what you think", screams the bubbly girl. "Don't you think everybody should contribute to the safety of the students?"

"Or do you think those not involved should not be dragged in against their will?", interjects the blind girl.

Each province (colored area) on this island needs 1 city, but I'm not sure where to place them.
I would appreciate if /tg/ could help me choose where each city should go.

Maybe consider what resources are available in each location and where theyd be. A city would probably be around that
>>

Hmmmm. I guess so. Since I'm not that great at resource allocation, I'm not sure how to distribute them.
>>

You should have placed cities at points where cities should logically be before drawing up provinces.

As a small baby, your found yourself sleeping for the most part of the journey to the looping worm. The child carried you with care making sure he won't wake you up.

Alas, the road has ended. The looping worm stood before you. It looked strange, you saw no mouth or anything of a similar ilk, just one whole Bizarre loop. The gigantic Mons eyed you both with his hollowed eye. It didn't seem to care much about your presence, some of its pore opened up in the lower portion of its lower body. It would fit you just right. A scent of death and decay came from said pores.

Hello, gentleman. I'm faced with a problem.
One of the groups i participate as a player is mad at me.
For power playing? No.
For being unreasonable? Maybe
For roleplaying my own character loyal to his creation? Yes

I created a VERY fanatic cleric, and they want my help to raise an undead. Of course i was against it.
Now the group(off-game) is VERY mad at me because i'm "fucking the party" and is telling me that i should betray my roleplay and basically npc it.

Am i right here or am i being unreasonable?
Should i be forbidden of playing my char as i should just so they could "not die"?
And yes, their bigger worries are me killing the undead in one hit and so on.

Bonus info:
Instead of giving plot and in-game reasons for a change of heart, the DM preferred to just prohibit me from doing it.
He didn't move a finger to change his story or anything at all. He just threw it at me.
>>
>>44018961
Raise an undead what?
Also: which god are you fanatical to? Does your god have a specific standing on undead? Many neutral and lawful gods have no stance on undead.
Has the party offered you the "paladin's distraction" route, where you turn your head while they do the awful thing? Or is your magic specifically required for this abomination?
>>
>>44019047
Yes, specially my char.
It was created to be a first front one-man army against undead and heretics.
Pretty much space marine.

AND NO. Not even a distraction or something. They just want me to stop or kick me out.

Wanting to run a game with low fantasy, dangerous magic, sword-and-sorcery feel. Ran the campaign in Iron Heroes years ago, but wondering if better options now.

I know there were some popular Dungeon Crawl focused games a few years back. Don't remember any of them, though.

Thanks

Magic has a one in (however good you are, it's a dice size-based game) chance of backfiring catastrophically, each blow you take could be the lucky one that puts you down, and it's really fucking cheap. Like, ten bucks for the core rules cheap.

You are Alice. The Overlord. And still not sure if you're dreaming. But even if this happened to be a dream, this is the most vivid and exciting one you ever had. Since your awakening, you have started rebuilding your once mighty empire for scratch, recruited some more, some less legendary or powerful followers, and the the moment, are trying to mine an iron vein you found.

Nila proved to be a great instructor and the goblins can mine a big amount of iron from the ground.
>Alice? There's something you might want to know...
Nila appears besides you.
>What would it be, Nila?
you ask.
>We now got all of the iron we could from the surface level. If we want to get more iron out of this, we will have to dig a mining shaft.
Good to know. You'll consider the point.
>What should we do now, Alice? We just finished loading the last mined iron to the carts.
Kislax asks.

What do you want to do?

Things are not going to plan.

That's the first thought that crosses your mind as you regain consciousness. Things weren't supposed to end this way, with the human world – the world you grew up and spent your whole life within – violently merged with the demon world. A disastrous interaction, and one that lead to the traumatic birth of this new world – the world of transition, the battlefield upon which mankind's future will be decided.

Your name is Mia Vespucci, and your eyes are tightly shut. They're shut because you don't know what kind of world you'll see when you open them.

It shouldn't be a complete mystery, of course. You've spent time, so much time it seems, in the demon world before. You fought monsters, risked your life and saved your father there – but it was never supposed to be your new home. Everything you've done, you did in an attempt to stop this reality from coming about. It is then, with a bitter thought, that you realise every prophecy that Source gave you came true. The second prophecy – a warning that you were on the path to destruction – was proven right in the most brutal way possible.

Things couldn't get much worse, you decide, and then you force yourself to open your eyes. Time to see what the world has in store for you.

You expected horrors, perhaps, or some other terrible surprise. What you got, on the other hand, was almost pleasant. Warm sunshine, the sound of distant birds, and the sensation of grass tickling the back of your head. This is... the fairy kingdom, you realise as you look about at the wild, overgrown trees. You've been here many times before, and you know it to be a place of relative safety. As much as anywhere within the demon world... no, the world of transition, can be considered safe.

Groaning softly, you heave your aching body up and give yourself a quick check. Your phone is still here, with everything as you left it – the blacked out Gateway app, though, is a grim reminder that you no longer have a home to return to. Midnight, your enchanted dagger, is still strapped to your hip, just in case you need to defend yourself against anything else. You are, it must be said, as good as you're going to get.

Through the birdsong, you grow dimly aware of another sound – a low, slightly rough humming that comes drifting through the trees. Like someone in a trance, you stumble through the forest in search of that mysterious sound. Soon, your pace turns stealthy and sly, allowing you to slip through the undergrowth without making a sound. It's this advantage that lets you draw close, hiding behind a tree as you spot the source. It's... human. It's Petra.

The redhead is squatting, the posture perfectly natural to her, at the base of a great and ancient tree. She hums as she stares up at it, her eyes flickering across the scars carved into the trunk. You've seen her like this before – this tree is special to her. You almost rush to meet her, but you hold back. Amelia advised caution, didn't she? But this is Petra, she has to be safe...

>What's the original source for tolkien-esque lore. Is it Tolkien or did he draw from something else?

Seeing that the tale of a war for a magical ring which gives power to control a world filled with magic was a favourite of the Nazis, and The Lord of the Rings was published in the 50s, yes, I would say it has some influences.

And that same story has it's roots on another tale about a cursed ring, a broken sword which has to be rebuilt to recover a lineage and a grey wandering wizard and god with many names.

Now go take a look at some basic mythology books.

Quick summary: Raven Guard successors that stem from the Raptors Chapter and who are a more heroic Brotherhood of Nod.

Eh, not feeling it.

Nod would fit better with traitor guardsmen or xeno cultists.
>>
>>44018132
Nah. Depends how you could play them.

Here we're doing a more heroic take. As in:
- No mutations
- Causing uprisings on planets that were conquered/annexed by heretics/xenos or seceded from the Imperium
- Being the natural enemies of Tau when it comes to stealth and counter propaganda

They also have cyborgs, stealth tanks, and a giant murder scorpion that dwarfs over The Brass Scorpion of Khorne.

The Inquisition is kinda mixed about them due to their affinity with cyber warfare.
>>
>>44018176
So what you're saying here is the only thing resembling Nod about them is the colorscheme.

Why bother, then?

Greetings /tg,
I was too tired to focus and too busy to draw at work last night.
So I played around with my new method of randomly generating scenarios.
The following scenario took me twenty minutes to come up with.
And a bit longer to type up.
Let me know what you think:

Six gods have long stood in an uneasy alliance, three against three.
The alliance is now threatened with the recent discovery of an ancient artifact long thought lost forever: The Solemn Crown.
If one of the gods were to seize the crown, their personal power would grow exponentially, that god’s three enemies would likely be destroyed, and even their allies would be fearful.
The crown itself is rumored to be the actual crown worn by the First God, Father of All.
Its power reshapes reality itself and it was last worn by the King of a land devastated by war.
The King wielded the power to kill his enemies, every last man, woman, and child.
Overcome with regret for his actions, the King used the crown to bring back all that had died in the war.
But twisted by pride and guilt, he brought them all back as undead monstrosities.
Filled with shame, he concealed the undead and the entire capital city deep beneath the earth forever.
Only now has the city has been discovered by a powerful mortal wizard.
And the gods have taken notice.
The crown is still generating a powerful field keeping the god themselves out of the city.
The gods can overpower it for short periods before being forced to leave, delaying their search of the city.
The powerful mortal wizard who found the city has sent a party of powerful, adventurous individuals into the city to find the crown using the only power able to come and go at ease: a young, hyperactive boy whose long multicolored hair enables him to teleport anyone anywhere.
The boy behaves entirely harmless and his most evil, violent act is kicking a shin when provoked.
The boy will teleport away at the earliest sign of danger, but will return to retrieve the party.

continued...

While in the city, the party will encounter all manner and strange forms of the undead.
The King himself has become a massive, hulking behemoth of an undead capable of summoning new undead each round as well as changing one element of his surrounding reality a turn.
He is very resistant to damage and the crown itself has embedded itself into his swollen skull.

As they party search the city for the crown, they have a chance to encounter one of the gods.
Each of whom might attempt to convert members of the party or attack them.
Although the gods cannot be destroyed without the power of the crown, if they take enough damage they will no longer be able to prevent themselves from being thrust out the field protecting the city.

Each god has their own unique traits:
Dark Alliance:
Soulfire:
Clad in flaming armor, this figure of terrifying light wields a powerful cosmic energy that he can harness to lash out in a soul-destroying beam or create orbs of temporal discordance that can incapacitate enemies.

Nepheline:
An eldritch being resembling a large, anthropomorphic cat with wings, she can infuse energy into objects to add melee damage or throw them for explosive damage. She also has complete power over the elements.

Ichor:
A dark entity of death that slides across surfaces and generate dark, caustic ooze that radiates a deathly aura as well as allow him to negate and mimic any powers used against him.

Light Alliance:
Icarus Strobe:
The fiery winged embodiment of anarchy, he can generate whipping tendrils of shadow and light energy attacks while also imbuing a mortal with their peak level of power.

Zealous Trunk:
A oddly shaped god that resembles a massive, bipedal walrus, he is the embodiment of strength and is a master of combat, able to focus on all aspects of a battle simultaneously, despite having flippers for hands projecting powerful balls of lightning on command.

Cecaelia, the Lady of Luck:
The focus of a major fate based religion, Lady Luck in fact brings equality to all matters of chance and by spilling drops of her blood, she can generate celestial winged serpents that fight in her stead, although she herself has the form of a beautiful woman with her lower form emerging into powerful tentacles.

What does a good sword and sorcery hero spend all that stolen money on? "Ale and whores", but it's hard to make people feel excited about imaginary examples of those. I need concrete, specific, attractive descriptions of expensive luxuries a fantasy hero could want. Stuff the players themselves would feel excited to get the money for, even if it's not something truly "useful" like a better magical weapon. Stuff they would feel really good about their characters having obtained.

Take your gaming group camping, no cabin, no bathroom, just the wilderness and them, for 3-5 days.
Then see how happy they are to see food they don't have to catch, a warm bath and bed, and their significant others if they have any.

That aside, in sword and sorcery (as opposed to fantasy) the reward is geared towards living the good life until out of money. Creature comforts. Good food, obsequious toadies, npcs treat them with fawning adoration. Perhaps a triumph or party in their honour.
>>
>>44017500
I know, but I need more specific descriptions than that. Like how D&D (or dwarf fortress) likes to meticulously detail every expensive treasure the heroes find. It makes finding it feel like more of an achievement. You didn't just get "50 GP in precious stones", you get a whole variety of beatifully cut, large, shining rubies and emeralds and sparkling diamonds and golden rings...

"Ale and whores" might be great in theory but to hear the description isn't by itself very exciting.

There's nothing for you in Bitegravel, a couple of miners and farmers holed up in the snowy hills, complacent in this position across the sea.

you immediately pack up and head somewhere you can recruit more allies, after the first few hillocks it's clear the adventuring spirit has died out in these parts, you'll stick it out on your own and cross the glaciers into no-mans land

You stay at Giftcaves, the last dwarven settlement you will see for a long time, you sleep up and prepare, as you consult your map you see there is a small group of elven villages before the goblins, elves have never been kind to your people but it might be the only place to get more fighters.
what do?
