What could cause your snowflakes to settle down despite not being tied to any one plane.
>The Oath crew save the multiverse from the Eldrazi
>Have to get jobs
>Turns out walking between planes isn't a great qualifier for a job on a specific plane.
>>44142058
I could give Nissa a job. She could be myhousewife.
>>44142058
Gideon would probably be able to find work anywhere. There's always a plane that wants a ruggedly handsome indestructible soldier with his cool whip sword thingies.
Jace would sponge off people with his psychic dickery.
Can't see Chandra ever holding down a job more than a month, but she'd do better than Kiora, who would never make it past the interview phase.
>>44141940
>What could cause your snowflakes to settle down despite not being tied to any one plane?
Would have to be something drastic, but if my B/R snowflake was to find a world that seemed like a paradise–one that never got boring, always had something new and interesting for her to look into, easily available luxury and good food, and didn't restrict her ability to take it all in as she pleased–she'd probably decide to just vacation there forever, since she no longer has to worry about the novelty wearing off or missing what other worlds have to offer.
A less likely scenario would be if she encountered someone she cared about too much to walk away from.
What is the worst thing a GM can do to players and why is it level drain?
Running a system that contains level drain.

>DM reads DMG and tells says he "rises the next night as a monster of the same kind"
I don't think you've read the DMG.
Okay, as to not clog up the /WIP/ I made another.
Here you can add any FAQs (along with their appropriate answers), tips, links, advice and just about anything you can think of someone new to the hobby might need to or want to know. I'll compile it into a GoogleDocs and pass it on so it can go into the OP of future/ WIP/ threads.
My knowledge is limited but I'll compile what I know on this end, and cross reference with what other anons add.

i like the idea but i doubt anyone else does
>always keep sprue as basing material or for practicing highlights
>if a model is off balanced glue a coin to the bottom
>you can build things out of sprue like buildings or metal destroyed bits
>for the love of god never put the paint brush in your mouth
>K.I.S.S. keep it simple stupid. get a good pattern down before you start to experiment
i really need to take my own advice on this
>prime, basecoat, wash, highlight is tried and true simple way to paint
>keep a color wheel handy, don't wanna give offerings to slaanesh by painting garnish colors
>steady your hands by putting your wrists together for support
>it's easier to work on lighter colors then darker colors. i suggest priming in white or brown
>watch lots of videos, talk to people, and practice
i hope this helps
>>44141611
A few weeks ago there was an anon or 2 that were posting a FAQ image of sorts, maybe request it or check the archives? Also a link to videos on YouTube that are actually helpful
>>44141611
This is a good idea. I hope this thread is still around tomorrow so I can contribute (it's getting kinda late in NorAm).
I've been thinking a bit about this and what I was planning to do was to compile a list of questions and then find a YouTube video or an article that answers the question.
> How do I use spray primer?
> *link to some YouTube video showing proper technique*
> How do I paint Horus Heresy World Eaters?
> *link to some article that walks through the process*
I think it would be a good opportunity to answer questions well. Instead of just saying 'thin your paints' we can talk about the difference between thinning with water and medium, the effects on metallics, etc.
Let's imagine there is a urban setting with electricity and primitive telephone lines but also sword and magic, in wich there are three "races"
First are humans.
And the second one are Silent Hill monsters, but more cleaned up, civil and mostly human shaped.
What would you include as a third "race " of that setting?
>>44141464
Wha..what?
Silent hill flesh nightmares as a race? What?
A bunch of sentient statues. Not golems no, they can't move of their own accord, but they can speak and tend to inherently possess useful wisdom so they're kept around.
You want a nice balanced symbolism? Make Overly logical machines. You've got crazy ass magical flesh things, slightly crazy people, who also use tech/magic, and logical tech things.
So I've heard that the Tau were made to appeal to the weeaboo/Gundam crowd, but is that speculation, or has a GW representative actually said that the idea was to bring in fans of a Japanese western aesthetic? Because as a fan of Gundam and mecha in general, I just don't see it.
The 40k experience is very small-scale, and even the larger units like the Knights are only half the size of the original Gundam(18 meters). The old Titanicus game would be a more proper scale for them, and that's not even considering the aesthetics. Admittedly, the Tau are aliens, and aliens in mecha anime usually have the wacky bad guy robots, but they're not really comparable to anything on the line of super-to-real robots.
Are there any mecha fans who play Tau that would like to express their thoughts on the relationship between the two?
>>44141064
Commander Farsight is a somewhat obvious shoutout to Captain Char from the original Gundam series.
>Red suit
>Close combat monster against machines with far superior close combat skills.
>Legendary to friend and foe alike.
>Seems loyal on the exterior but has a hidden agenda.
>Cult of personality.
>Eventually rebelled and created his own, 'better' version of his nation.
They're different in many ways of course but the similarities are obviously intentional.
>>44141064
You have to understand the /tg/ mindeset, Anon.
>Giant robots
>Vaugely asian culture and stylings
>OMG WEABOO SHIT WTF
>HUURRRFFUUUUUDDUUUURRRFFFFFF
>OH BLACK TEMPLAR-KUN YOU MAKE MY DICK SO HARD
That being said I feel like the attempted appeal is there, but gundam is the wrong comparison. Tau are just ani-mecha in general, with a splash of Apple. As in the corporation.
>>44141064
>to the weeaboo/Gundam crowd
They lost before they even begun. Prices of 40k minis could never undercut gunpla prices.
Can your character cook potatoes?
>>44140711

>>44140711
Yes
>>44140711
Maybe.
What is your favorite NPC that your DM has come up with?
>>44139932
Is there any answer better than salty ship captain or ghost waifu?
A young woman who ran a self-employed business where we paid her to double-check and clean out a dungeon or location after we had cleared it. She was very experienced in dungeoneering, traps, appraisal and survival so she could pretty successfully and safely clean a dungeon for valuables or things we missed. She took her payment as a cut of the wealth and valuables we would have missed without her. She also had some skills in healing and using magic devices if we needed it.
She was generally fun to play and interact with, and was decent waifu material with a happy go lucky and scrappy personality, and being described as massively over encumbered with a huge backpack brimming with valuable monster guts and parts, herbs and plants, and tools and materials for dungeoneering. She was utterly useless in fights and stuff that her skills didn't apply to, but otherwise was a neat little aspect of the game.
My favorite NPC was a ship navigator who was a retired adventurer, and way higher level than any of the PCs.
Mostly he just wanted to be lazy and reflective in his winter years, and the PCs accommodated that by paying him a lot of money to be the de facto captain, protect their ship (and their loot) from plot events, and train them in swordsmanship.
Been thinking about Getting into Warhammer 40,000. Which race would be best to start with?
Squats.
>>44139874
Whichever one you like best.
>>44139874
The one you think is the coolest ON THE TABLE. No point playing a cool sounding race if their models and rules are totally different.
Toolbox edition.
Which deck wore it better? My vote goes to podless pod.
First for U From master race

Tron*
Dead archetypes edition.
Do any of you guys have a "default" character? You know, a basic archetype that you find yourself coming back to in character creation? If so, what is it? I recently caught myself doing this when making a character for a new campaign and was wondering if anyone else does the same thing.
Pic sort of related. Dutiful, honourable fighters, typically relatively young and with optimistic ideals about protecting the weak and upholding righteousness are what I tend to fall back on, especially when trying a new system.
>>44139440
In modern/future settings, it's goofy techies/mechanics who don't like combat and are terrible at reading the mood of a situation. They usually have blond hair and glasses, too.
>>44139440
Rangers in the French and Indian Wars archetype. People who are trained to operate self-sufficiently and attack when they have the upper hand-- Being more effective as a loner means I have to come up with a good reason why they aren't, and that's like, party dynamics, yo.
>>44139440
Yes, actually. "Aloof, acerbic spellcaster who snarks at his party members to cope with the stress of their incessant, stupid antics. But secretly really does quite like them". All the time, man. If I didn't deliberately avoid the archetype sometimes I'd probably fall into a major rut.

So how exactly do you run a Promethians game? It seems really directionless. I have no idea how to create a story for this.
>>44138735
Promethean probably has the firmest direction of any WoD gameline. It's a fundamentally episodic gameline about a group of people who wander into situations (that they often indirectly either caused or escalate) that teach them valuable lessons about human nature. The main difference between Promethean and other WoD lines is that it's about a journey, rather than centering around one setting locale for the entire game.
The Incredible Hulk TV show is basically Promethean.
>>44138735
Like >>44138791 said, Promethean works really well as an episodic narrative with an overall goal. The disquiet and wasteland effect encourages moving from place to place regularly, while the Pilgrimage encourages interacting with new people and interesting things. They've all got one goal, and you've got fodder for mini arcs (Prommies meet a vampire! Prommies get trapped in a small town for whatever reason and need to wait for someone!)
The other major component is the Quasmalim. An Angel appears and ... [insert plot here]. Maybe its going to destroy a city with people the Prometheans like, and so it becomes a race to try and stop it. Maybe it tells them something important is at a specific location, and that sparks a whole adventure.
Road Trips are a good model too. Four prometheans in a camper van, going from coast to coast and encountering strange events along the way. Although that does make me wonder, would the Wasteland effect begin to generate specifically around the campervan over time. A moving black hole of unpleasantness that gets worse and worse over time but only really impacts on the rest of the environment when it parks.
>>44138791
That sounds like it's going to be a lot of work to run.
First time playing D&D (4e), playing a Bard, and I was told to choose an implement. So I spend 7gp on a Wand, but it has no effect? Was it just a waste of gold?
If I recall correctly, non-magic implements, are, in fact, worthless. Some DMs might rule that you need them to use the power at all, but I do not believe that is RAW.
Basically you only start really needing one once you start getting magic ones.
Magic wands can hold an arcane encounter power as a daily power, or there can have various other effects.
4E is shit. Quit now.
>>44140738
So it was actually a waste of gold, unless I get the Enchanting ritual and a shitton more gold. Thanks

Not very helpful.
Another monster pops out of the sidewalk, but my quick pace burrows straight through it as I continue my mission.
I quickly look at my phone, no answer from Mom. I'm heading straight for the place where I saw her last, so she better just be hiding and not get into trouble! If I'm having this much trouble just getting to her, then I'm sure she wouldn't fare much better against these things.
I am Itsukuma Masami. Today is turning out to be the worst.
There are monsters everywhere, and the man who is causing it is no where to be found!
It's the worst!
Asai seems to have started his attack on the city. Chunks of concrete and iron emerge from every wall, every street, and every sidewalk. If it weren't for the armor on my back, I'm sure I would be powerless to stop any of it. I hope everyone else who doesn't have this kind of strength is hiding, and letting someone else deal with it.
That someone else is me, unfortunately.
The streets are starting to develop visible holes in them as more and more monsters emerge. All of them seem to be attracted to only one place in the whole world: where that giant is standing.
Maybe if I ignore it, it'll just go away? I'll try that for now, yes.
I enter the edge of the park where I found Kaori and Julie. Mom should be around here somewhere.
That's when I notice: The sidewalks are gone. Dirt is upturned and scattered about.
There, four figures are hugging each other. None of them are letting go.
"MOM!" I yell, running straight at them. Kaori is the first one to notice me, she stands up and waves her arms. I jump at her with my arms outstretched.
Then she steps out of the way and lets me eat dirt, oof.
"Why didn't you catch me!?" I pout.
"Because you weigh a thousand tons! You were bashing straight through solid concrete!" Kaori pouts back at me.
>What do we do!? What do we do!? What do we do!?
>Kaori! Make a plan! I'm bad at those!
>Mom! I need help!
>Let's just go hide, this is scary!
>Other?

Summary: After returning to his own territory, Daikon was forced to contend with Frieza's forces, who had invaded his empire. He defeated the first wave of them, but now two fighters of incredible power are approaching, and Daikon has been forced to retreat
Welcome to Saiyan Quest. This takes place in the years Frieza controlled Planet Vegeta, as the Saiyans grow in strength and try to find a way to free themselves.
Voting will operate on a first to five system, at least for the time being.
Dialogue is allowed to be added to votes, as are actions (though I'll ignore what I consider shitposting)
During battles, options will usually have a number assigned to them. After that vote has won, players will roll a d100, and have three chances to match or beat that number.
If a 100 is rolled, it is considered a crit success (unless 100 was the number you had to match).
If a 1 is rolled, it is a crit failure, regardless of whether or not the other two rolls are high enough to succeed.
If, during a battle, players want to attempt a writein action, that is allowed, but I am the one who will assign the number to it, so use caution
You're a young male Saiyan who fought in the war with the Tuffles. You are an average fighter for now, but have the potential of one of the greatest warrior races to roam the universe flowing through your veins. There is no limit to what you can accomplish through blood, sweat, and tears.

You stand on the bridge, staring out into the void of space a your ship speeds in retreat from the two pods that move in rapid pursuit.
Kamatsuna monitors the ship's computer, entering commands and diverting power in order to give the ship extra speed. Apparently, the two pods chasing you have been specially equipped to move more rapidly.
