I recently moved into a new place. A place with an office large enough to fit a Warhammer table. No more carting my armies around every time I want to play.

I was able to get some terrain pieces on the cheap by scouring a local pet store that's about to close for discounted aquarium and terrarium decorations.

My wife walked into the office just as I was trying out some different table lay-outs.

Problem: Players talking OOC all the time and interrupting.

I'm DMing a 5e DnD game, and I have an issue with two players. They constantly talk when it's not their turn, interrupting other players and even me during DM narration. Sometimes it's OOC suggestions, like pointing out which monster to go after, and other times its debates about rules or predictions about the next plot twist or conjecture about the secrets they've discovered.

I tried to rein them in by gently reminding them that their character isn't nearby to talk, or that they can discuss their thoughts during a break later. It didn't seem to work.

Then I laid down a rule: You can't talk when it's not your turn at all.
On your turn you can
>1. Ask a OOC clarifying question,
>2. Move your speed,
>3. Do an action like an attack, skill check, or cast a spell,
>4. Say something to an ally or npc.

Having this kind of strict structure paradoxically works really well for the good players. They are paying attention, ask a good question, roll the dice, get their turn over with, and talk in character about what's happening in the dungeon. The bad players however start asking several different questions in a row, don't know how many squares to move, take forever to decide what to do, and don't bother to talk or say anything when it's their turn. Then when its a monster's turn or another player, they are back to yelling over everyone to get their joke heard or making OOC suggestions for another player's turn. It's gotten to the point where whenever one of them starts to pipe up about literally anything I just immediately say "It's not your turn, you can't talk." It feels rude and disrespectful for me to have to do that but otherwise its near constant talking, sometimes within seconds.

What should I do? I don't want to kick them because they are actually pretty good at RP and come up with clever dialogue and in general have a good time. But the constant interruption and metagaming is limiting the game.

>Bruce Almighty Campaign Idea.

I want to give one of my players godhood for a scant 5 minutes.
He will be given all the powers of a god, ability to answer prayers, shape lands, make artifacts..ect..ect.
The only limit is they cannot benefit himself directly.

The conflict will come after godhood has ended and he must reap the rewards or pitfalls of his choices.

Lets say he smites a person turns out that person was in high favor with another god.

He delivers rain to a drought effect area another area is now not getting water.

Want them to think of what it means to be a god and why gods always move so slowly and sometimes subtly.

It was the late 17th century when it first began.

The night was to be the strongest Walpurgisnacht since the dawn of creation. The Papacy ordered everyone to stay indoors and mobilised their choircorps to protect the cities. Howls of heathen joy rang in the air in preparation for the hellish rituals that would no doubt rain ruin upon the Christian West.
Then, an eternal full moon descended upon Transylvania. In it, was the silhouette of an impossible castle. Nobody, neither pagan nor believer, peasant nor Pope, knew what was happening.
Across the world, everyone heard the voice.
>"I have sold my soul to the Devil for the sake of Christendom. Let this dark power be brought to bear on the pagans of the East."

Europe was in an uproar. Tales of monsters and demonic beasts trickled back to Rome. Creatures roamed the countryside of the castle, slaughtering the villagers and desecrating the land. Yet oddly enough, no Turkish sorcery had been brought to bear that night as the Vatican feared.
The speaker was soon identified: Count Dracula Vlad Tepes, Voivode of Wallachia. Christian astrologers determined that the Count had not lied: though the silhouetted castle maintained the everlasting Walpurgisnacht over Romania, it somehow stole the bulk of the Ottoman magical strength. It seemed that the monsters ravaging Wallachia were a terrible byproduct of the Voivode's pact. In saving the greater bulk of Christendom, he had cursed his own homeland with death and destruction.
The Papal debates were furious but secret. On the 7th Day, the Vatican declared Count Dracula a Saint and canonised him for the martyring of his own immortal soul. The Order of the Dragon was instated, a band of knights dispatched to Wallachia to cull the monsters and learn of the power within Saint Dracula's Castle.
But Evil is not idle, and the Devil does not make bargains against his favour. The Ottoman hordes are scheming something to turn the tides and resume their pillaging of the West. While nobody can tell what witchcraft and devilry they hope to amass, it is clear that St Dracula's Castle is the lynchpin of their plans.
>>
>>55382962
On another front, the ratfolk of Cathay in the Far East marshall their verminous brethren under transcontinental tunnels. Though trade with the ratfolk was tolerated at the best of times, it seems that they were in league with the Devil the entire time.
Plagues and pestilences break out through the Cities of the West seemingly at random. When the cause was narrowed down to the traitorous verminpeople, the Vatican decreed an order of extermination against them.
It would seem that the filthy Rats, though under the command of the Devil, are not allied with the Ottomans. Indeed, there have been recorded instances of the creatures casting their terrible filthmagicks on the Turks. While this is something not unpleasant for the Church, it must be remembered that all Cathans are by nature foul and treacherous.

Worse still: the ratfolk are joining the race for Castle Dracula.

There are dark powers to be harnessed and used against the forces of Satan within the Castle. At what cost, nobody knows. But St Dracula has paid the ultimate price with his own soul, and it is up to you and your fellows amongst the Order of the Dragon to ensure that his sacrifice is not in vain.

With holy might and hymnal prayers, you must fend off not only the rampaging monsters, but the Ottomans and Cathans. Beware their sorcerous might; under the Walpurgisnacht moon, their power is amplified a hundredfold. Faith must be your shield, and conviction your sword. You have been given the reliquaries of saints and other precious artifacts to aid you on your quest. For the survival of the faithful and the entirety of Christendom, you cannot afford to fail.

God wills it.

Yesterday was the annual general meeting for shareholders in GW. Being one, and with the company having had a great year, I decided to attend. In the next few posts I'll put some things that came out of it (not all of this will be news to you).

Performance:
>sales are up across the board - in every sector, every range, and every month
>all the charts are pointing in the right direction
>surplus cash will be returned to shareholders as dividends

Strategy:
>they've recruited so that they now have separate design teams for 40k, AoS and specialist games
>this is to allow them to release something for each of those lines on a regular basis, monthly at least if not faster
>they want there to constantly be something new for players to buy rather than them waiting for months on end
>keeping a constant monthly cashflow and sales improvement is important to them, it's not about a few big releases a year
>efforts are being made to reduce the price point and make joining the game easier, thus the range of price points for 8th (from ยฃ5 magazine with single figure up to ยฃ95 boxed set)
>target areas for new stores are North America and Asia
>trade (FLGSs) is more profitable than retail (GW stores), but the latter is more important for recruitment. They intend to do more to support both
>they want to bring more women into the hobby, but don't want to alienate the existing playerbase while doing so, it is something they're aware of (but no details as yet)
>prices aren't dropping any time soon
>production is pushing up against maximum capacity, they're going to be investing a fair bit in new injection moulding machinery
>>
>>55382477

Marketing:
>they hired a marketing team about 18 months ago
>they have no intention of mass-marketing
>the digital strategy is an attempt to get control of the narrative, they identified the fact that all the web traffic was going to blogs and forums where new (and old) players would meet a lot of negativity and grumbling
>it's working, their web traffic is high and growing (2 million unique users on warhammer community, for example), the traffic on 3rd party sites is falling
>they are measuring clickthroughs and doing more market research about customers, no granular info yet, but a big change in direction from the Kirby years
>they intend to carry on being much more proactive in supporting tournament organisers and the like
>>
>>55382485

40k:
>none of them are allowed to say, but from what I wheedled out it sounds like 8th is doing very well indeed, they consider it a success
>the gathering storm stuf and SW:A was a strategy to prevent the normal big sales drop-off they get before a new edition (like they did with WHFB's end times)

AoS:
>they won't provide figures for individual ranges, but sales are up
>overlords did well

Specialist games:
>the reason they abandoned these in the past was because they had a small design team which was hard to expand, so they put the focus into the most profitable lines (40k and fantasy), that's not an issue any more
>the success of BB caught them by surprise, which is why there was a fairly big gap between gobbos and elves. The latter are the first team designed entirely since release, they intend to continue releasing about one team per quarter
>necromunda will have better support from the get go, they want to get more of the gangs out at release or shortly thereafter and have future plastics more planned out
>aiming to make them very customisable, extra weapons and upgrades will probably be available in resin
>cawdor got a mention, might mean that they're coming at release or might just mean that that's one they're working on now
>HH has been derailed a bit by Bligh's death and producing a new rulebook. Now that's in the printers they're getting back on with it, there are plenty of models in the pipeline
>there are no more HH plastics planned at the moment. Never say never, but production time is at least a year, so don't expect anything anytime soon.

That's all I can remember right now off the top of my head. We got a free issue of WD and a slap-up feed. Feel free to ask questions and I'll answer if I can.

Tell me about the gods, demons, etc, in your setting
6 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Cool thread OP, I'll wade in.
Gods themselves are unable to touch the world itself, they are however able to corrupt sentient beings into demon-like servants.
The Herald of the First Gods, for example; was considered a paragon of a man before he was sacrificed to them, after his corruption and conversion left him a bestial wreck the Herald was given Grismar; the fabled Mask of Fury, which plays off of it's wearer's self loath in order to make him a nearly unstoppable force. The flip-side of this is that he is also an allegorical figure, representing the corruption of mankind - as such it is impossible to kill him, as the Herald exists across all of time and space.
There's also a being known as the Hunt, who is a personification of entropy. It predates even the First Gods (Not!Great Old Ones).
>>
>>55381801
The gods have departed the world long ago after ordering it from primordial chaos. Now all of it is pretty mythological, to the point of many people believing in very distorted visions of the gods, or totally different ones, or not at all.
Still there are some who never got over it: their titanic child still grieve, sometime bitterly, some of their favoured servants the elves still wait their return or even for a way to bring them back, while some other elves felt so betrayed they renounced the gods and their teachings to became feral.
Some of the gods enemies' minions are still alive too, impotently plotting for revenge.

In the grand scheme of thing, it's mostly irrelevant. The gods did their grand work and left the world precisely so people can move on and do their own things and they mostly did. The few who still hold on to the divine era and its conflicts are wrong and literally from another time. The past is gone, there is no sealed ancient evil to unleash, no god will ever come back, the ancient secret orders are not really manipulating nations but are at best tools themselves. But it's not a bad thing, because the future is promising.
>>
>>55381801
The three types of deities in my setting are:

Natural gods (personifications of wide reaching and ultimatly inpersonal properties like energy, entropy, order, magic, gravity, time and space and so forth) They are utterly impersonal and only ever intent on keeping the universe on track in it's deterministic loop of big bangs and big crunches and keep going on a perfect loop forever.

Unfortunately for them emotions have their own weight that does not go away with the resets and instead lingers/grows to fuck up their deterministic universe by introducing unaccountable variables from the next group.

Gestalts (Litterally the chaos gods but with more of em and they're not all edgelords. there's a hate one, a love one, a confusion one, blah'd blah you've seen this song and dance before) They are charged up over time from emotion power siphoned and then spend it for effecting the world at large. They are a pain in the ass for the natural gods to clean up for because natural gods struggle with making headway into the realm of emotions and the more successful they are at preventing it's spread the more emotion power is just going to be welled up in the gestalt realm for their war.

The third god is litterally just the DM who is an omnipotent outsider in-setting and fucks around with important events.

Been thinking about making SC host that is mostly taken all from the same battlefield- sort of huge, fantasy-Stalingrad siege during the age of chaos. Focus on infantry and city-fighting mostly, with liberators and crossbow-armed judicators in support. I'm thinking if adding a dracoth unit won't break the theme too much?
>>
I've seen some people in other generals complain that AOS's setting is still impenetrable to them. Is it worth us trying to create a general 'primer' for the lore that's better than GW's and the mess of information on 1d4chan - brief history from the end of the Warhammer World until 'now', breakdowns on the Realms, how they work and what we know about society in each one, some lore on each Grand Alliance's general goals and what the factions within are up to (with a list of sources to read more) etc? Or should we just wait for the RPG and hope it does it better than GW did at actually telling people what's going on?
>>
>>55382053
I think dracoths would be fine. Enemies would be more compact, making their lightning much more devastating, and could even be used to blast down buildings should the need arise. I could see units of 2-4 being very effective at pushing through choke points.
