Demons. Not super evil demons, but pragmatic and less chained by morals demons. You in a way play the role of Prometheus and grant the mortals the gift of fire with your infinite demonic knowledge. In time your followers ascend to demonhood as well to make it a more proper demon civ.

So /tg/, in previous campaigns I've done the standard BBEG as the primary villain, but I was thinking of having a secret society (like the Illuminati) as the main enemy. Have any of you done something similar? Any ideas?

Yeah, basically Hydra.

Played in a game where there was a secret society run by "witches" which were sort of technically a race all their own. Basically they sent out members into the world to integrate and interbreed with different societies and cultures, and then have them pull the strings. For those who lost interest in the mission overtime, were disloyal, or just never knew about it, the witches in charge could control them with voodoo-esque blood magic. So like, having begun the plan many centuries before, your great great great... grandmother of grandfather could have been a witch or even just reproduced with one, and despite the knowledge of that detail never passing on and your ancestry never mixing with witches again, they could still control you.

>tl;dr blood magic "witches" used a fire and forget method of spreading their bloodlines which they could later directly control

Have you ever wanted to run a session based on the premise of the awful anime Gate? Well now you can! Sort of.
It's still missing some features that will be added later, specifically a bestiary, but I thought I'd share it and hear your feed back.
Love it, hate it, tear it apart and rebuild it, let me know what you think /tg/

there are these 4 numbers in the bottom right corner. One of the numbers lets people know how many different posters are on a thread. Hover the mouse over a number to identify it.

People bump their own threads all the time but I cringe when they try to hide it and fail.

I recommend brazenly bumping instead of trying to hide it when bumping a new thread. Well, not now, unless a real poster comes along.

I have the opportunity today (boxing day) to buy packs of bfz for $3.00 even, no tax.

Probably not a deal to most American posters, but here in Canada its a steal.

Is bfz worth grabbing up still. This works out to just over $100 for a box. (Normally $140)

It was never worth grabbing in the first place. Unless you hit an Expedition, and not just any one but one of the good ones, there's nothing worth opening.

Just buy scratch off tickets if you're going to waste money.

Difference is you cant play with the scratch tickets after you use them.

Do you enjoy opening packs?
Are there cards you like or ar useful to your decks in bfz?

If you answered yes to either of those questions, then you have your answer

You're Big Tink Zognik da Githog, and you find yourself currently in a quite situation. The city pillaging was going within reasonable levels of resistance up to this very point, where you find yourself in a tower, facing off against the most puny looking, but the hardest to crump human you've ever seen. He's a weirdboy.

"You'll never defeat me, pesky greenskins! Because my master believes in me!" The human yelled out with an obnoxious voice before forcing you to duck under another lightning bolt that arched from the oversized staff. Standing up, you ready your weapon, circling around the human with your other 3 nobz and the 2 boyz that followed you. The third one appears to be not moving due to the reflected javelin lodged right in between his eyes. He also happens to be covered with other various objects useful for throwing.

What do you do, boss?

This is a thread created for the discussion of Quest threads, as well as sharing of advice and guidance for aspiring or current QM's. Posters looking for advice on tabletop games should look elsewhere.

Useful links: http://pastebin.com/b5cN2RkK
This link contains numerous writing guides, general advice, and various quest tools and communities.

https://twitter.com/Eisenstern/lists/quest-runner-directory
This is a directory containing the tweets of most current QM's. While a twitter is by no means mandatory, it is a useful tool for both you and your players. If you are a QM, simply post your Twitter here to have it added to the directory. Spamming your quest twitter with non-quest related tweets may result in its removal from the directory.

Regular chess rules apply.
Dubs (or above) chooses a move for whatever color's turn it is. So yes, you can try and fuck up the strategy of your opponent by rolling on their turn. Re-rolls allowed.
Will this be a chaotic and shitty chess match? Yeah, probably.
If the thread 404s before the match is complete, I will make another thread. If we get to a boring stalemate, we'll restart.

As a reminder for later in the game, since we're using custom pieces:
>white king = hiro
>white queen = troll face
>white rooks = wojack
>white bishops = longcat
>white knights = white knight fedora
>white pawns = guy fawkes

>black king = moot
>black queen = yotsuba
>black rooks = pepe
>black bishops = tacgnol
>black knights = black fedora
>black pawns = anon

Actually we could just vote on moves, that would be a hell of a lot easier.
>>
>>44387279
>>44387286
I'm up for suggestions. I don't think voting is a good idea, as there are way too many possible moves each turn.
We could have a time limit: if there hasn't been a move in 10 min, whichever move is closest to dubs is chosen. Thoughts?

Need advice on rolling up and roleplaying a "Shrine Maiden" character.

A GM is trying to get together a GURPS game about modern day fantasy/sci-fi demon fighters or some shit. I've decided I want my character to be a miko/shrine maiden. Can anybody with a better knowledge of Japanese culture tell me how I should generally stat this character and what her skills/powers should be like? I know I could just read the Wikipedia entry on "real" shrine maidens, but I have no idea how they've been portrayed in folklore and popular media (other than forever sweeping things up).

From my knowledge of Japanese culture, they have sex almost constantly and have pensies about 67% of the time. So, like any other Japanese girl.

In truth most shrine maidens are generally not much more than cleaning/working staff and for shrines and servants for higher religious figures. They are involved mostly providing music, singing and dancing for religious rituals. Also if they happen to be beautiful that was seen as an advantage to make the shrine popular. Unlike their popular portrayal in anime, they are not all young and beautiful. Some live at their shrine until their old age.

Their "spiritual duties" are not fixed at all because Japanese shinto religion was never institutionalized so there is no standard. Every shrine had pretty much their own idea on how shit works. Shrine maidens did minor religious activities that higher people didn't have time to (or they client couldn't pay for) like fortune telling from cards, tea or other stuff occasionally blessing family altars or homes, cleansing evil from cursed/haunted locations and objects etc.

In short there is no standard and animu uses them quite liberally. Popular culture like animu generally portrays them as being pure, disciplined and wise girls that are devoted to their shrine and protection of humanity against the supernatural monsters. Their main abilities tend to be sealing/dispelling/banishing evil spirits/energies. Often using paper seals, little papers cards with complex kanji runes, that can block/seal supernatural energies when stuck on a surface like a door/window or on the forehead of a possesed person. They are traditionally portrayed as archers with arrows that have magical effects.
