Why did the Emperor allow Lorgar to go on believing he was a God for so long? He let the guy conquer tons of worlds and establish the Imperial Cult as the main religion on each of them before he finally figured maybe he should put an end to it. If he truly cared so much about spreading Imperial Truth, making sure one of the Primarchs isn't spreading the exact opposite seems like a good move. And if he'd just corrected him right at the start, he could have avoided publicly humiliating him and destroying his life's work.
nothing about that period of time makes any fucking sense, least of all the emperor not noticing that most of his sons were collossal fuckups that actively propagated things that were going to sway them to the chaos gods.
i mean come on, most of them have so many personality disorders it's a joke. nothing about their bizarre fall to the dark side makes any sense at all.
consider the distances involved.

>the emperor not noticing that most of his sons were colossal fuckups that actively propagated things that were going to sway them to the chaos gods.
Let's not forget that his big "plan" for dealing with chaos in the longrun basically boiled down to 'ignore them and pretend they don't exist for long enough that they hopefully die of starvation from lack of worship'. I have yet to see anyone explain how that was /ever/ supposed to be a viable solution.
So a friend and I were discussing Dante Alighieri and how interesting it would be to play DnD with him.The topic then changed to how WE would have designed hell.
And now I'm asking you TG, how would you design hell? It can be a single plane of hell, all of hell, and stuff from your own settings is fine.
I'll post some of mine first.
I prefer adapting existing design rather than inventing new stuff from scratch.
D&D's Baator is a very good (evil?) Hell. Instead of writing a brand new Hell, I adapt Baator to my setting's cosmology. That way I can use all that wonderful material without doing unnecessary extra work.
It would be pretty damp all around.
I would base it off of human instinctual fears. Like death, large creatures underwater, fear, despair, etc.
What would warfare and diplomacy be like between planets?
Depends on the system.
>Diplomacy
Closer to the old school stuff we had in the age of sail. Since even a short message takes minutes between the Earth and Mars, and even greater the farther you go, most people on the other end are going to be expected to handle things on their own. At most, you'll only really get some corporate communication about moving material and the occasional question about run away/ criminals.
>Warfare
This one is harder for me to get. You have light years of distance between you. Literally worlds away. Why would you?
Cold Wars, mostly.
Heya! It's me, Imoen!
What kind'a games would ya want to see in 2016 AD?
Shut up Imoen

Fucking bitch, can't stand a fucking fight, your stats suck.
Shit character from a shit series.
Killing other members of the party is usually discouraged, but what about letting them die or reviving them and leaving them before they wake up.
Outright working against the party is a bad idea, but what if it's just a one time thing, letting a certain member die because your character feels their ideals dont fit the goals of the party for example.
You're still being an asshole.

exactly how?
How would /tg/ go about constructing a demonic and/or Lovecraftian realm in a Medieval setting?
>>44463720
Dragons are shoggoths
>>44463720
Do you mean a whole setting that's medieval + lovecraftian imagery? Or more like a demonic/lovecraft-looking part of a medieval setting, like a plane of madness or something?
>>44463720
Just throw in whatever I think is creepy and unnerving without much thought and let the PCs fill in the blanks.
A wizard teleports before you. He says to you, "Anon, I am sorry for bring you your Christmas gift so late, but here you go". He gives you a tiny owlbear, it is the size of a kitten and will not grow any larger. "Merry Christmas, dear anon" the wizard says to you before teleporting away.
What do now?
Presumably, be mauled to death by a small owlbear.
>>44463586
Ask /tg/ to stat him.
>>44463586
Owlbears are supposed to be fucking vicious at any size, a kitten sized one would probably be capable of giving you a fairly serious mauling.

So, I recently came into owning pic related, and I was wondering if I should make an EDH deck around her. I have the cards for a buff/token deck with a few Angels thrown in, but I'm not too sure if she's a Commander to use.
Her second ability seems pretty good to stop mono-decks, and it's saved me a few times when I got to actually use it. Any other reason for it?
Hey pseudo fog is nicebut very expensive and she's cmc5 for a 5/4 flyer. She could go in some kind of hyper-ramp turbo fog control shell maybe, but other than that I wouldn't bother. Her only hard advantage is how unlikely you are to be focused down early due to how non-threatening she is.
>>44461850
Oh. Ok...
>>44461881
Sorry bro. I know how it feels when you find a card you really want to build around but it's just not viable. Would this be your first EDH deck?
Do you use music in your games to enhance them or do you consider it too cringeworthy?
>>44461503
Too cringeworthy by half.
>>44461503
I do.
>>44461503
Player here but I find having some soft melody or tune playing in the back ground in a tavern setting can be nice.
How would you run an open-ended heist campaign?
Isn't that like basically every Shadowrun game?
It's not too hard anyway. You've got a crew, they have a fixer. The fixer finds jobs for them to do. All you need to do as a GM is have a few interesting possibilities on the table at any one time; then at the end of a session, get them to decide which job they want to take next. Then you prep that for your next game. Throw in some wankery about how much evidence they leave behind and how much the authorities are after them and you're sorted.
>>44458872
Don't plan for the heist itself. Plan for the planning. Stealing getaway vehicles, casing the joint, dealing with an investigator who's onto them but doesn't have the evidence they need yet, and so on. Let the PCs decide how the heist goes down and plan for their plans.
>>44458872
You need a target, a location, and security. The target can be a person to kidnap, a safe to open, an item to take, or anything else that works as your heist's macguffin. The location can be virtually anything or anywhere, but you must describe EVERYTHING about it, even if not right away. The thieves must have a lot of options at their disposal to go through the location towards their target and out again. Security needs to match the location and the target and must have weaknesses to exploit. People, robots, golems, turrets, laser wires, alarms, search lights, etc. Anything, but it cannot be impenetrable or unavoidable. Through rolls or cunning, the thieves must be able to get past any barrier and through any defense to their target if they figure it out properly.
Just play a lot of old Thief and Sly Cooper games and you'll be fine.
How do you handle your BBEG's final fight?
How do you think i should handle the final fight?
The BBEG in question is a heavy fire caster and has a immunity to fire damage as well as being a lover for golem augmentation
>>44458763
My party would kill him with fire.
>>44458763
We could use a little more context. What's the villain's goal? What setting will the players encounter him in?
>>44460044
Its set in a world in which industrialization is set in progress as well as heavy elemental using.
The leader is the leadr of a crazed fanatic group called the Black Hand who focus on ruling the world as one power to prevent further conflict and to unite all other under one rule. They have a heavy unity with fire and fire elementals and such are master at pyromancy
I never understand the hate that owlbears get. Why do most people think that they're far more ridiculous than any of the other monsters introduced by D&D?
They've always been my favorite fantasy monster, so post your owlbears.
Need a name for my catfolk gunslinger pirate captain. His ships name is the hades compass
