My characters in respective games?

Pathfinder wizard. This aint our first rodeo. We murder the dragon and then be on our way. Our rogue gets a new hat.

Homebrew fantasy barbarian warlorc. He saves them and then manipulated tyhem into doing his bidding. He's very manipulative and a cleric of the god of lies.

Homebrew modern mystery. American Beefcake that is strong and pretty but not very intelligent. "Shit we're in the fey! Quickly Call charles girlfriend so she can save us!"

at first, make it seem like it's really benign and an outright good deal. also, don't go full on with the devil stuff right away

for example, they encounter a hedgewitch on the outskirts of a village where they might buy simple adveenturing shit
"hey, if you are willing to spit into this bottle for me i'll give you ____ that seems really useful"
and then have dopplegangers show up of that person, after a few sessions, so that they don't immediately connect it.

then just keep ramping it up, just always make sure that the cost is always slightly higher than the gain, even if it never appears like it at first

If you're going to do it BoI style, have it so you can get very powerful items/skills/stat increases however they all cause problems for the player down the road. Less maximum health, causes strong monsters to be attracted to the wielder, a irrefutable favour, an incurable frenzy ala Bloodborne, rejection from all other Gods, an unending hunger, the inability to use other weapons, fatigue unending, an Achilles heel that reduces him to dust; and of-course eternal damnation upon death.

Could be anything but you have to make the deal sound tempting on first glance. No-ones going to make a deal that doesn't benefit them.

I was toying around with the idea of magic items and cursed items also that technically give you the intended affect. One idea in particular that has me grinning like a madman is a belt of dexterity. True to it's form, it gives you +4 Dexterity.

But it also turns you into an Imp. A Tiny Creature, with all the powers it entails only you have no idea how to use them, along with the extra limbs, it's not like you know how to fly just because you have wings. Damnation to hell included for free.

Any other ideas you can think of and share /tg/.

Why? I don't care for webcomics ever since I've finished Digger. Everything since then was an anticlimax, and I see no reason why yours should be an exception.

Dunno what that is. Since the monsters are spawned at least initially through human pregnancy, I wasn't sure if anyone would think that too weird. I wasn't planning on dwelling on it, but some people might get hung up about it, especially since the off-humans would be playable characters.

They may be creeped out, for which depending on how hard they react you either say "it's horror, buckle up" or dial it down.

You may have a guy that is mad paranoid about magical realms, you can shut em down with "what, you were planning to fuck bitches? It's not this kind of game."

These threads hardly seem popular. A question, then:

Why do you think Baator and Mechanus invade Mount Celestia so often (as per the Planes of Law monstrous supplement entry for archons), despite the baatezu having better things to fight (e.g. tanar'ri), and despite Mechanus being on such good terms with the seven-peaked mountain that there are modrons all the way up in the *fifth* layer's city of Empyrea as per the same boxed set?

Wonderful setting, but sadly WotC doesn't have anyone on staff that knows it in depth enough to handle it well in 5e, especially when they're seemingly hellbent on incorporating some of the most special of 4e special snowflakes (4e style tieflings all being uniform in appearance and devil-blooded).

Plus they made some boneheaded retcons such as the yugoloths being created by the hags in 5e, with Asmodeus helping out. They don't have anyone willing to fact check and make sure they don't make a hash of prior material when ostensibly they wanted to return to the game's past with the new edition and embrace the more classic lore.

What are good low-level adventures to run in the setting that don't involve Sigil, and do actually involve visiting the Planes - even if they have to go and get a spell or temporary protection from the elements?

D&D was the first, did it well, and stayed the only serious contender for nearly a decade.

The reason LotR never took off is because of licensing. There's nothing hard to DM about it.

Because, at least in North America, it wasn't. It wasn't advertised in magazines or for sale at stores. Other RPGs started coming out, but that was just never a thing, in the USA. And the USA market has always been the biggest RPG market.
