Have you ever played a game with Draenei characters?
How did it turn out?
Did they have an backstory/origin or were they full magic space goat ayy lmao?

>Have you ever played a game with Draenei characters?
Yes, its call World of Warcraft. You might have heard about it.
>>44636508
You mean Tieflings?
>>44636723
They're space aasimar with tiefling features.
You are the captain of a Carrack.
A few years ago your ship and a few others was commissioned to do something that as far as you knew nobody had ever tried before sail around the world across the great ocean. While you did not find a route to the New World you did find a few here-to-fore unknown but amiable cultures that made magnificent that had a lot of strange treasures that you bought for a few common steel items and sold at a great profit back home. As this was good business you decided to come back there. However when you arrived at the city where said trade happened you've found it empty save for a few survivors and a lot of corpses. Apparently after you're arrival a plague had spread through the city killing nine out of ten people, with more dying afterwards in riots and starvation. It had also been spreading.
>>44636022
Ouch! I guess an apology to the few survivors would be out of the question. I guess I would have to hightail it out of there...
I definitely wouldn't stick around. Then again, I could go back to my homeland and claim that I had single-handedly cleared out entire villages so that my king could lay claim to them...

that made magnificent
Magnificent what
Also oops I will try and help with restoring order I suppose I doubt I can cure the disease.
That's it. I'm sick of all this "Masterwork Daemon weapon" bullshit that's going on in the 30k system right now. The blade of the Laer deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that.
I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine daemonic sword on Laer for 2,400,000 psyker souls (that's about $3.50) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of iron hands with my blade of the Laer.
Warp smiths spend years working on a single daemon weapon and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind.
Daemon blades are thrice as sharp as European swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a longsword can cut through, a daemon blade can cut through better. I'm pretty sure the blade of the Laer could easily decapitate a primarch wearing full artificer armor with a simple vertical slash.
Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering the warp? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined chaos marines and their daemon blades of destruction. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the big pauldrons first because their killing power was feared and respected.
So what am I saying? The blade of the Laer is simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the 30k system. Here is the stat block I propose for the blade of Laer:
(One-Handed specialist Weapon)
Strength x2
murderous stike 2+
+2 to penetrating hits
Counts as Masterwork
tl;dr = The blade of Laer needs to do more damage in 30k, see my new stat block.

Okay I keked, but you're still a poof.
I have been having a problem in my play group where I am consistently beating my friends in games and games are just too easy. I figured that I was good enough to go to an FNM but I was informed that my deck couldn't be played in standard, however it could be played in modern. Could you tell me if my deck looks ready for a modern FNM?
14 Mountain
2 Forest
4 Evolving Wilds
3 Island
2 Dragon Egg
1 Dragon Roost
1 Dragonmaster Outcast
1 Dragonrage
1 Balefire Dragon
1 Descent of the Dragons
1 Hoarding Dragon
1 Kargan Dragonlord
2 Moltensteel Dragon
1 Moonveil Dragon
1 Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker
2 Flameblast Dragon
2 Shivan Dragon
3 Volcanic Dragon
2 Dragonshift
3 Phantasmal Dragon
1 Surrak Dragonclaw
3 Dragon Hatchling
3 Spellbound Dragon
4 Shockmaw Dragon
1 Siege Dragon
This deck looks fun to play, but if you go to a Modern tournament expect to get your ass handed to you by a variety of decks and archetypes. The curve is just too high, but I enjoy this type of thing. If you find a rural enough LGS you may even be able to place well.
>>44634129
You appear red heavy.
It would be a shame if someone were to...
Green-White ramp...
>>44634419
Why do you think I will lose though? The deck constantly wins against my friends, why would I suddenly start getting destroyed?
>The king and his royal guard are powerful psychics who mentally primes and prepares the youth into being what the kingdom will need for the next generation.
>This means that if he needs more warriors in the youth, he will simply mess with their brains while they are young so they are more likely to be good knights.
Realistically, how powerful could his country become of they managed to keep this up?
Depends how many people they could do this to at once.
But you already knew that.
this is the "post a dumb premise with incomplete information" flavor of bait.
>>44634116
It'd fall apart after the king's son forges three generations of sluts.
>>44634162
>Bait.
How is it bait if it's not trying to piss people off?
Hey /tg/? In a setting without faster than light travel, communication or aliens, but has been colonized by humans over thousands of years, what would be a reason for a party of space traders to leave their home system and throw themselves into a stasis pod for decades at a time to travel the cosmos?
>>44633892
Profit.
>>44633892
Watch Interstellar.
Watch and read space movies/books.
Tbh I guess mine would be adventure or exile
>>44633928
>consume sci-fi media
Well, d'okay then
So I'm gonna run a Tarantino inspired game tomorrow night. The PC's are going to play people who have very little criminal background who decide to get in on the meth market in their city. The PC's are going to be of a jolly sort. Some guy who needs to pay his bills, some dude he worked with at Walmart, and a guy he knew in high school that just got out of prison. Of course, in normal Tarantino fashion, everything goes wrong.
What should I include?
>>44633822
>What should I include?
>>44633971
I actually do do a pretty good Sammy J impression.
Go look through the Florida man twitter. That's a good starting point. Also if your county has a mugshot newspaper start buying it. You can usually find them at sketchy gas stations. Do some research on organized crime, because they hate competition.
Is selling the PCs into slavery cheap cliche drama or is there actual merit in there somewhere for character growth?
>>44633531
How the fuck does that even happen?
Unless they're some low level morons, they should be able to fight their way out.
>>44633531
might be interesting if there's a goal besides magical realm shit. If they were beaten by a foe who routines takes slaves, it's fitting. A slave uprising ark is a time-honored tradition in fiction. But having them get captured and enslaved in their sleep is shitty.
Maybe?
It is sometimes can induce interesting scenarios (survival, escape) and character growth (nobles brought down).
Is such a thing even possible?
I'll be honest, I really want to play as a dinosaur.
Holy shit my childhood.
I'm going to be honest, I don't remember a damn thing bout it because my mom read it to me at bedtime.
Fuck me, but I loved it for the pictures of people riding dinosars.
There would have to be a Build-A-Dino system with a few pre-mares for people who are new to the system, or dinosaurs.
I would buy this for the fluff sections, alone.
>>44633635
*pre-mades
But I guess dinosaurs would predate horses, so it still works?
So you know how we always go on about orcs and elves and rape.
What the fuck would a half orc half elf be like?
It would be 1/4 orc, 1/4 elf, 1/2 human. With the orcish brutality and violence, combined with elf sofistication and ego, probably a narcissistic psychopath.
>>44633414
He means it in the sense as a rape baby that happens when an orc impregnates an elf or an orc forces an elf to impregnate her.
>>44633414
That's not how math works. . .
>>44633352
Personally, I'm thinking a /fit/ elf with green skin, shorter ears, a few mismatched teeth but not proper tusks, a flatter, more Mongolian style nose.
As for how it'd function, well, that depends on how it's raised, doesn't it?
Actually, really, the real answer is "Depends on the Setting".
We've done it before, but let's do it again!
Rules are simple.
>1: The post can only contain one thing. e.g: "a spaceport", or: "a lush garden" etc
>2: With that one thing you can also add if you feel like it; something extra to make it special, eg: a maglev station is infested with mutants, etc
>3: It takes 3 votes from 3 diffrent Anons to remove something from the hive
>4: You may also add some stuff about the planet the hive is located upon
>5: Have fun!
>6. No Daemonettes allowed.
A single working toilet.
A lack of toilet paper.
An abundance of the Lectitio Divinitatus.
I learned during the past few weeks that manchildren who wank to grimdark are totally real in this hobby.
I joined an ongoing game. "Mature" and "realistic" fantasy they said.It was Pathfinder. It's not a game I like, but damn, it's the only game I can find.
Well that really meant "At least twice a session, one of the characters gets killed, raped, destroyed in all reputation, or otherwise brutalized. And almost everyone in the world is a selfish scumbag, and those who aren't get brutalized even more." Yeah, they chew through character sheets a lot.
The GM here sincerely says Game of Thrones (the show, he never read the book) is the best fantasy series ever. When I try to talk some sense into this 30 year old manchild about how his GMing style doesn't make a fun game, he literally calls me "childish" or "naive."
The scariest part is, every other player loves this GM's campaign and calls it "mature" and "realistic" too. What the fuck. These aren't, like, teens or anything, they're guys in their late 20s and early 30s.
Why do these people exist?
>>44632992
>almost everyone in the world is a selfish scumbag, and those who aren't get brutalized even more.
>mature
So they're mentally 15 years old?
I mean I play plenty of more mature games, but these guys don't want realistic and mature, they want over the top dark and edgy.
>>44632992
Why are you still with this group?
If everyone else is enjoying this table, there's no reason for them to change.
Why are you talking about this like its some pandemic? This is just a matter of different tastes in games. You've done the most sensible thing and talked to the GM, and that didn't work out the way you wanted, so just leave now. Problem solved.
Is Warhammer 40K a "good" setting? If so, why or why not? What are its strengths, and what are its weaknesses?
>>44632742
It's a fun setting with something for everyone. It wasn't intended to be taken entierly serious in its conception.
>>44632742
I'd say its a decent setting.
Mostly, the thing that ruins it is how it only really makes reference to the war aspects of the setting, which I know is kind of stupid of me to say because its a war game, but truthfully? If you ever play a game of Dark Heresy or Rogue Trader, it can sometimes be hard to pinpoint the more "civilian" side of the setting accurately.
Honestly, though, I can't find much wrong with it, there are far worse settings.
It's a good "entry" setting to get people invested in traditional games. Not a ton of depth but a lot of simple and wholesome masculine grimdark fun.
Hey /tg/, here is a question for you
How would one go about playing a shape shifter/doppelganger type character?
Let me be clear, I'm not looking to play one (I'm not in a group at the moment), I'm just curious what your thoughts are.
In what context? This is important.
Are tanuki better than kitsune?
>>44632598
Look up Eberron, specifically Changelings.
> be running zombie apocalypse game
> using GURPS lite because it felt best
> four players: three experienced RPers, one new girl who had never played before
> this is important
> start out with characters all together for some NPC mutual friend's wedding
> zombie shit starts happening
> characters eventually end up in it
> fighting zombies, scavenging for food, etc.
This was shaping up to be fun, until:
> all players except newgirl have read Max Brooks' Zombie Apocalypse Guide
> adopt his flawed doctrines to a T
> they don't take the M4s and M16s they find on dead soldiers
> instead insist on hunting down Kar98s and M1 Garands
> I track ammo weight realistically
> ammo for these guns is also hard to find
> they don't hold many bullets
> max brooks is an idiot
> two characters are killed because of their shitty gun choice
> meanwhile new girl was the only one to grab an AR and ends up getting 2x the kills of everyone
> before long she is the only original member of the party left alive
> I am secretly kekking the entire time
> two PCs rage and accuse me of being a whiteknight, then quit
> end up finding new players
> game goes back to normal
Any similar stories of retarded players?
Good ol' Zombie Survival Guide and it's hi-larious claim that the M16 can't even take a bayonet (it claims the thing will break!)
Did you remind your group that that book is found under the "Comedy" section?
>Player can cross a gap by having the wizard cast fly on him
>Instead has his character try a acrobatics to jump across the gap.
>Missed the DC.
>Missed the "Grab onto ledge" DC
>took enough fall damage to knock him into the low negatives.
>Dies right before anyone can get to him with the CLW wand.
You have a wizard with spell slots. Use him you stupid shithead.
>>44632776
If the obstacle was so easily traversed then why did you even put it in front of them?
