Who here thinks the Lamenters are Mary Sues?
>>54706826
>literally the setting's fuckups
>Mary Sues
>>54706826
I'd believe it if the universe wasn't assfucking them without lube, consent or mercy. What brought the question on?
>>54706826
This question is indicative of the fact that we have lost our way irrevocably, never to return
Sociologically, is it plausible to have an advanced civilization (at least as advanced as our current Earth) that comes up with its own polytheistic religion?
>>54706639
As in developing the religion at our current stat?
>>54706639
... why wouldn't it be plausible?
>>54706639
Since we can't exactly recreate these conditions in a complex simulator and there's no overly strong arguments for or against Judeo-Christianity being a key factor for our level of development, I think such a scenario is definitely believable as a hypothetical possibility.
I would be more curious of how to make it relate-able, at least if you are making a setting that is otherwise very similar to the Industrialized world culturally, and to our modern lifestyle and surroundings. It might just seem a little out of place. Or maybe not. Catholicism arguably has a little polytheism going on with it, what with prayers to Mary, patron saints and angels, even if they aren't considered literal gods.
Dumping SoB pics because why not? Feel free to add what you have.
>Someone who has a large based media empire/monopoly.
or
>Someone who has a large electricity based empire/monopoly.
Which makes for a more dangerous villain and why? Pic mostly related.
>>54705889
Electricity.
Will always be people who see through media bullshit, but everyone uses power.
>>54705889
Well this is gonna get /pol/ real fast
>>54705889
>Which makes for a more dangerous villain and why? Pic mostly related.
Media makes better more subtle villians, Power companies make for better mustache twirling villians. 'Cause if people question the media you're a "conspiracy theorist", but everybody already expects a power company to be corrupt- they work with energy, they supply something.
It really depends on what you want, they can both be very dangerous for completely different reasons.
Why are lamenters so weak. I mean, c'mon they dont even get primaris marines
Why are you such a faggot?
Fucking minotaur queer, fight me.

Is there a game that would let me play as a typical alien invader/abductor on Earth, without being a bigger scope scifi setting? More of a cheesy B-movie thing, good fun.

Could also use Shadowrun or Traveller.

I have an idea for a side job/hustle. I want to make and sell handmade pipe-cleaner minis, probably online. I might start with an etsy shop?
As usual I can't tell if my idea is autistic, so I'm looking for any feedback. Do you think people would buy these? How much could i get away with charging? How/Where should I market these?
Pic related, made these for my brothers 5e campaign. Will post more examples.

I was thinking of posting something snarky and mean spirited but is that a fucking Chester Cheetah wizard?
So the royal family has been assassinated (never mind how, that's above your pay grade), and many foreign monarchs are eying the throne with covetous glances. In order to avoid a destructive war of succession an heir must be found.
Fortunately the late king was a man-whore of quite extraordinary proportions, so royal bastards are in abundant supply. The council has already chosen the ideal next incumbent; the Duke of somewhere-or-other. Almost all of the other known bastards are either younger than his grace (and therefore ineligible due to the law of primo genitor) or lack anything other than circumstantial evidence of their royal parentage.
Almost all.
Five bastards, however, have seniority *and* uncomfortably concrete proof of paternity.
The players are charged with finding these fellows and knobling them or their evidence, preferably both in either order.
My problem is: What would constitute iron-clad proof of paternity in a society without D.N.A. testing, or even blood-typing?
>>54704707
The King's distinctive birth-mark, or course!
Or, if you want to be lame, you can say that there's a magic spell for determining paternity. Don't do this.

D&D 5e with the Healing: Healer's Kit Dependency (pg. 266), Healing: Slow Natural Healing (pg. 267), Rest: Gritty Realism (pg. 267), Injuries (pg. 272), and/or Massive Damage (pg. 273) options, all from the 5e DMG. If you hate your players, use all of these options.
I also have some low-magic class alternatives, if you like, but they're homebrew and untested:
Beastmaster (replaces druid): >>54669037
Knight (replaces paladin): >>54669052
Scholar (replaces cleric, sorcerer, and wizard): >>54669080
Scout (replaces ranger): >>54669104
Troubadour (replaces bard): >>54669116
The Warlock can probably remain as-is (it's kind of weirdly low-magic already despite also sort-of being a full caster), as can the Barbarian, Fighter, Monk, and Rogue, though you may want to ditch the Eldritch Knight, Way of the Four Elements, and Arcane Trickster kits from the latter three.

>>54704570
Shadowhammer: stealth/ambush tank. The anvil against which the hammer falls. Infiltrates, double cover saves until it takes a shot. Speced for anti infantry; lots of templates.
Hellblade: FLAMERS. EVERYWHERE.
Shadowblade: like the Shadowhammer, but speced for tank popping.
Doomblade: (1)B Destroy target nonblack creature.
Banelord: Chemical sprayer, leaves patches of dangerous terrain.
Helllord: fuck dude that's a Lord of Skulls wearing a baneblade turret as a hat, who the fuck are you trying to fool.
>>54704716
The only one I'm iffy about is the Helllord, is doesn't seem to make much sense on how it is supposed to function or why refraining from firing a weapon would grant bonuses to the rest. These also need to have points cost. So far, only one does.

Hey guys quick question. In CoD how strong do physical augments like Vigor and the strenght gift make you at max rank? Is it life car level, lift bus level, lift tank level?
Thank you for the feedback on what I finished so far everyone

Is there any good system for survival horror? Something where the PCs are relatively weak, resource management is highly important, and there's either a wealth of different enemies or enemy generation is quick and easy?
I really want to run a Dead Space game, but I don't know what system to use.inb4 GURPS

Just add "you need 1 unit of food each day or eat cumulative -1 to all rolls." Give limited bullets. Make sure enemies are above the punching threshold. Throw in a flashlight / torch timer.
>>54704429
Give the characters awareness penalties for low light. Flashlights reduce the penalty but don't cancel it. The characters are always at risk of being ambushed.
Resources should also always be very limited.
Enemies must be dangerous.
>>54704429
I don't think there is a non-GURPS game with the same sort of chunky combat where you can make 'cut off the limbs to kill them' a real part of how you deal with things.
Being vulnerable to something like a necromorph is easy to do in GURPS, characters don't have much health and big, powerful cutting limbs can tear a person apart. Ranged weapons that deal cutting damage can also be used to lop off limbs effectively, and are especially useful if your necromorphs have Injury Tolerance (Unliveing), making them highly resistant to normal firearms.
If plasma cutter ammo is rare the players should figure out to treasure every round of it.
On the same subject, ranged combat in GURPS plays well with survival horror. You can target individual limbs, fire several shots in quick succession in hopes of landing more hits and most importantly, you get a large bonus if you spend time aiming. Unless you are a really good shot you generally NEED the bonus from Aiming to hit a limb on a moving target at anything but point blank range.
So your necromoprh hunters will be tempted to panic-fire at the highest rate they can without stopping to aim. This allows for maximum damage, but also burns ammo fast and has a comparatively low chance to hit. Spending a turn aiming instead of shooting takes good nerves, but afterwards a single aimed shot has a good chance to hit.
The religous magic users in your setting discover that true belief is not needed to manifest the power of divine beings. How does this affect your setting?
Do it anyway. He got into it because he liked the guy. Magic was always a way to exert Their will on the plane.
People worship the gods anyway.
Using their magic w/o reverence makes them get really salty.
>>54701921
In settings where gods are very real belief tends not to be a real problem.
It might be more interesting if every god had a competing and contradictory scripture/lore associated with them and you had to believe that one was the ultimate truth, but I don't know of any settings like that (besides the real world of course)

Has your party ever been wiped out by goblins?
>>54701787
I love goblins and kobolds but I've never seen them go full death god swarms myself.
You wot mate?
>>54701355
That's from the SRD text, to clarify. Also, permanent spells can generally still be dispelled. Compare Wall of Stone and Forbiddance.
>>54701487
I think the object -> creature transformation has to be into a creature of the same size, too, so that'd be one big spellbook.
>>54701522
>But you'll die to a dispel.
Technically, you'll cease to be a living creature. You wouldn't be dead, so it'd take a wish to bring you back, if anything.
Or as I like to put it:
>True Polymorph object into creature.
>Creature eventually has child.
>You can dispel the parent.
>Can you dispel the child?
