WEBCOMIC 'CAUSE Y'ALL ASKED: http://wildwestscifi.net/gallows-humor/13683-gallows-humor-prologue
You are Brianna la Croix, journeyman necromancer, and you're about to ask an angel if she minds being in a snake-woman's novel about you.
This is rapidly becoming an average day for you.
>>45061200
You trickle smoke from your nostrils and grin. "Well, actually," you answer Lora, "there's this lamia that keeps wanting to write my story, and I wanted to make absolutely sure you were okay with it before I just ran off at the mouth."
Lora sighs and makes the sort of puzzled expression you see on people's faces when they're trying to figure out what to say. "...You told me that no one knew who or what built the Dungeon, yes?"
You nod.
"Maybe that was my problem. Maybe it's time for that to change. And...well, maybe I've had enough time hiding away at the bottom of my hole. What happened between me and the gods is done with and forgiven on both sides. Maybe it's time that I took up a different duty."
"What if your Dungeon needs you?" you ask.
"I've built it as best I can," Lora says softly. "It's time to give it to those it was built for. This place is my labor of love but it belongs to those who live in it. As it should be, no?"
"...You know, I suppose so," you agree, thoughtfully. "How secret are you /in general/?"
"I would prefer that certain details, such as the precise circumstances of my binding, be obscured. Obviously I cannot permit you to transcribe the words of the Divine Tongue, but you may describe it and speak /of/ it. Aside from that? Tell as much or as little of the truth as you care to."
"Scribbles will be thrilled," you tell the angel, and she gives you a little smile.
"You'll wake soon," Lora tells you, a little wistfully. "...It is sometimes difficult for me to hold these conversations together. Despite the aid of my claim and the bindings, your soul wants to be in your body when you dream. Bringing you here takes quite a bit of effort."
"Huh," you note. "Got time for another question?"
"I can try."
> What do you ask?
>>45061444
Eh. Ask her if she'd be willing to sit and chat while everyone finishes off the Baron.
Dunno what else we could talk about real quick.
And reposting in case anyone missed it.

"Coooome on" I groan, slumping against the coach as Katlin once again absolutley obliterates my character in a matter of seconds "That isn't fair"
"Not my fault you're too slow to use combos" Katlin says, sticking her tongue out mockingly "Want to play another round?"
"Oh yeah I could go for seeing a couple more super moves" I huff, crossing my arms as I slump further down the couch
"Oh come, don't be like that sis" Katlin says sadly "I'll go easy on you if you want"
"Look, I'm just no good at this game" I sigh, staring up at the ceiling "And I don't like losing, or having to cheat"
"Yeah but it wouldn't be cheating" Katlin says shrugging as looks down at me, sitting up straight unlike me "It'd just be me giving myself a handicap"
"And what's the difference, it still gives me an advantage I wouldn't have normally" I groan as I sit back up straight, doesn't feel right being looked down on by own little sister
"True, but you might actually enjoy the game then" Katlin says with a sweet little smile.

Notes:
Using names or trips in this quest is heavily discouraged. While it is impossible for me to prevent you from doing so, I ask that you not. I will also not count any votes made while using names or trips.
You spend some time poking and prodding your newly captured spirit, mentally of course. Unfortunately it seems much reduced by its recent defeat. Though you managed to preserve the mind, it doesn't seem like there was that much to preserve. It is a simple creature driven solely by vague emotion, and the only emotion it seems capable of at the moment is wrath.
On the other hand, perhaps you simply aren't skilled enough as a Nature Vatis to truly understand the spirit's thoughts? “Mortia, would you come here a moment? I've need of your talent for Nature magic.”
Your companion, who'd been occupying herself exploring the cavern in greater detail, joins you in the center of the gore-soaked chamber. “I can try, though I make no promises. I've never had the opportunity nor the desire to commune with a spirit mentally without the aid of an artifact.”
You a pulse of vys as Mortia focuses her will upon the glowing gemstone resting in the palm of your hand. The light dims briefly, the green of the emerald momentarily shining through only to be washed out again a moment later by the power contained within. You're surprised the emerald isn't giving off heat, but you suppose since it's not cracked there's no avenue through which vys can escape.
(1/2)
It isn't long before Mortia's thoughts begin to muddle with your own, her voice muffled due to the mental barrier you erected to ward of Fulvia's rather forceful intrusion. {I believe the spirit is angry, but it is also afraid and confused. It feels trapped, and desires to latch itself to your soul so that it might feed and grow strong again. That being said the spirit's mind is incredibly simplistic. It is little more than an unthinking beast in its current state.}
You frown, mildly disappointed. Still, having a trapped spirit at your disposal should prove immensely useful, even if it is a particularly weak spirit.
>You should probably return to the surface, before people start to worry. No doubt Mortia is eager to clear her name.
>While your companions return to the surface, you'll travel through a portal and await them in Majhaya
>You should probably start constructing some sort of direct route from the palace to the chamber.

Become The Vampire 37
Sammy curls up on the bed and pulls a blanket over herself, and you pause for a moment to consider the best approach.
“Come on, sleepyhead. If you don't wake up then I'll have to wake you up the hard way. I don't think I've shown you yet, but I've got magic to spare, and if I need to use it to get you out of bed then I will.”
Sammy looks at you and grumbles.
“Can't you just go by yourself? I'm comfortable, and I'm enjoying a lazy afternoon after all that fighting earlier...”
You pat her gently on the head and ruffle her hair a little.
“I'm going with Catherine to get supplies, so I won't be going alone, but she doesn't want to go with just me because she's nervous. Plus I'm pretty sure that you'd rather go with us, right?”
Sammy sits up and nods, suddenly alert.
“Yeah, I...”
She blushes softly and chuckles.
“Stupid jealousy thing... I trust you, and I know nothing is going to happen, rationally, but... You're right, I'd prefer tagging along.”
She uses the blanket like a robe and heads for her dresser, and you turn away to give her privacy, texting Catherine that you've got your third person and that you'll meet her at the bus in a bit. She responds that she'll be there soon, and you pocket your phone, waiting for Sammy. When she taps you on the shoulder you turn around, and she pecks you on the lips before heading for the door.
“Ready when you are.”
You take a moment to look her over. Her outfit is cute without being over the top, and you follow after her with a smile. Maybe, just maybe, this will all go smoothly, and no one will argue with anyone, and you'll get to just shop for what you need without any tension in the air. You head for the bus stop, full of hope, and spot Catherine waiting by the bus stop in a blue dress, holding her book bag with both hands and looking like she's about to die of embarrassment. Sammy turns to you and folds her arms.
“Well, it's a good thing that I came along then, huh.”
You sigh softly and head to the bus stop, waving at Catherine and smiling. She gives you a small wave in return and seems to relax a bit when she spots Sammy.
“H-Hi there... Um... A-Are we ready to go...?”
Sammy circles around Catherine slowly, hand on her chin, before she walks back over to you and gives you a slight nod. Catherine looks deeply confused and a little worried.
“We're ready to go. No problems.”

Same system as Become The Dragon Quest. If you don't know what that is, it's best of three d20 rolls. I name a stat that sums up what you're trying to do, and if I don't name a relevant skill, you try to fill in the blank based on what you're trying to accomplish. “Break open the door” might be Strength based, but if you've been playing baseball after school and there's a lead pipe nearby, you could apply your Baseball skill to the roll. A 20 on the die is a crit threat, and if either of the other two rolls is 20 or higher after mods, it's a critical. A crit fail is when you have two or more 1s. So far this system has worked out well enough. We'll get into combat rules as needed, but in basic terms you have wounds, not HP, and the worse the wounds, the more penalties you accrue while doing other things.
Most Important Rule:
Have fun.

PREVIOUSLY ON MAGICAL GIRL LIBERTY: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Magical+Girl+Liberty
The four of you sat in waiting underneath the trees leading out of the mountain valley nestling Baroness von Streucker’s castle. You had sent Alena to scout ahead, and report back on their movements. It had been at least a few days since you first retrieved the Silver weapons. And in that time you were preparing to strike, hoping to catch the Baroness off guard so that you could save the boys and girls trapped inside the Castle.
Now though, you were waiting. You took a deep breath as you heard the rustling of snow and sticks coming closer. Alena hurried over to you, kneeling down beside you. “Patrols in the town are gone. The Baroness is gathering up all of her troops, I think she’s planning some big movement.”
“Should we stop?” asks Rana.
“We probably should,” says Sumire as she lies in the snow, bored out of her mind. “I mean, we got all these cool weapons and stuff, we might as well.”
“What else do you see?” you ask.
“They were loading up some trucks and half tracks too. She’s got a really big tank protecting it all as well.” So she is planning on evacuating. Most likely also bringing the kids with her too. If you catch them out in the open from the protection of the castle, you’ll have a huge advantage. And with these silver weapons, you’re sure to beat down the Wolf Pack as well. “Should we go now?”

Welcome to The Lost Island Quest. Last thread our hero, Alan Rodain, questioned Quissonce, agreed to meet his would-be assassin and bonded with his dog. Now he is faced with the dilemma of convincing a religious half-orc that you should totally summon a demon. Wait. Devil, sorry.

“Alan . . .” Dolah trails off as you sip your morning coffee. “It's not even evil. It's just stupid.”
You nod your head and tap your finger on her table. Dolah's room in the chapel makes for a cozy meeting place in the early morn. It also provides you with some privacy from Calloway's congregation. Admittedly, despite yesterday's trials, he still has received a large number of parishioners. He's been getting a lot more faithfuls recently.
“I understand it's risky. But that's why I'm telling you about it. Quissonce is going to take the time to make sure we summon that thing as safely as possible and I want you right there ready to smite the sucker if something does go wrong. We discover the original summoner and then send it back to whence it came. If there was a viable alternative, I'd choose it.”
Dolah sits contemplatively in silence. The grim countenance she wears does not falter and neither does her stare. You doubt you could beat her in a blinking contest. Eventually Dolah adjusts herself and comes to some inward conclusion.
“Fine. I'll agree to this on one condition. Once this is over we destroy that book and any others on demonology or diabolism the Circle has access to.”

Why don't more rpgs include playable undead races that compose entire kingdoms like the Forsaken. It's an interesting concept beyond "humans but with pointy ears" and the aesthitic is pretty damn cool.
The closest thing I can think of are 3.5e's Necropolitans from Libris Mortis, but they were never developed into an actual culture.
>>45105296
a) Because they are not a race, undead is a state of existence.
b) System concerns (no HP, or no con, to powerful, to weak, doesn't heal naturally
c) requires high magic in setting
d) requires prevalent sentient undead in setting
e) not pretty enough
f) not vampires, see above
g) may indeed be covered by vampires, depending on your demands for undead
h) game does not wish related themes
i) game does not wish for related aesthetics
>>45105296
while an interesting concept, it just SCREAMS "edgelord material". admit it, 90% of undead players would be fucking emo edgelords. so we're better off without them.
>>45105443
This is a terrible argument against it. You should go to bed, you have school in the morning.
>the two girls in the group don't like each other very much
>>45071469
As long as they don't badmouth each other behind their backs, it's fine.
>>45071469
Actually, the two females in the party get along fantastically. They have the best (non-sexual) chemistry in the party.
This mostly benefits from the fact that one likes to smash and the other likes to plan.
>>45071469
Leave that shit at the door or go home. No gaming is better than bad gaming and the sooner people realize that the sooner we'll have fewer bitching threads in this board.
This may just be my experiences, but why is it that so many players just aren't interested in melee combat? If a player has a bow, crossbow or a gun they'll tug themselves off describing how they line up their aim, take a slow breath and fire as they exhale. But in melee it's always "I swing and...hit, cool, damage is ***"
As a GM I've tried to make it engaging, I really have, but I've bounced off the wall of Apathy one too many times and I can't handle another combat of four guys stood exhaling slowly and firing arrows across a field.
>>45117041
What system? I have a guess that's the issue.
Shit your totally right, I never really noticed it but it's true.
>>45117041
Yeah OP what system, because it could be that Melee isn't really effective in the late game.
Also if it has to be the issue where they always describe ranged. I blame Trick Shots, we always show amazing shots in movies and TV where they fire it awesomely but we just don't do that for fights with melee weapons.
Mostly because when it comes to melee unless it's a ohk we just go, OK and now he's dead.
The taste of bitter ash coats your tongue. All around you the fragile containment that keeps the howling void around you at bay cracks and fragments, chips of ethereal glass showering down on you. You rise to your feet. The bloodied remains of the Avatar of Hunger drip in fat globules from the end of your spear as you swing it to bear. The crimson trail it paints in the air drains of color before your eyes.
You don't have much time.
The Hall of Reflection is visible now. The shadowy parasite controlling your arm sinks its talons into the very air around you, tearing chunks of reality and space asunder to breach the fragile illusion that threatens to steal the beat from your heart. Respite is within sight now. You need only figure the mechanics of closing the distance.
The world around you skips a beat, and your heart alongside it. Chunks of glasses pool around your feet, nearly liquid in consistency. Everything is falling apart.
As it should be, says a voice unbidden. As it always would.
You wrench your legs into motion. Overexerted muscles buoyed by trails of smoking nothingness force you forward. One step, then two, even as the hungering abyss bears down on you.
Another missed beat. You stumble in precisely the right direction.
You breach.
Senses swim as the world snaps into unbearable focus around you. Everything is too much—the feeling of the wood beneath your fingers electrifies you. Soft light overhead illuminates the myriad colors of the Hall in a blinding, violating swirl. And the noise, spirits above, -the noise-.
Small wonder you nearly black out. It's not uncommon for you, all things considered. More than one of your battles has ended with you unconscious on the ground—a distressingly common byproduct of your willingness to not step but leap headlong into mortal peril. More surprising is your body's unwillingness to succumb to the soft cloud of sleep that tugs at your consciousness. Its inability.
Something within will not let you rest now.
>>45111687
You plant a hand on the ground, feeling the decimated bone in your arm crack further under the strain. You other palm rises to match, levering you away from the relative stability of the floor.
Your armor and the smoking sheen within is melting off of you in thin rivers of quicksilver and black. It smokes away into a fine ash before it touches the ground, surrounding you in a nimbus of malevolent grays.
Your arm is agony incarnate stapled clumsily to your body. Still, you can move it. The ebon sinews that gave it life have not melted away with the rest of your unexpected armament.
You watch in half-aware fascination as the Hall of Reflections works to clot the wound you have torn in it. The walls twist together organically, a tight contraction that leaves only sparking scars where the Avatar of Hunger's door once stood.
The ruined arm cradled against your chest twitches erratically.
> [[The Void within you grows, and your power alongside it.]]
> [[New Void-Tremor unlocked: Blighted Regeneration.]]
> [[New Void-Tremor unlocked: Raiment of Unmaking.]]
You stumble as best you can down the hall. With some surprise it becomes apparent to you that your bleeding wounds have vanished, leaving only pink, raw skin in their place.
The Forge doors are mercifully open.
