Rick Sanchez drops a Meeseeks box in your dimension, right on your living room coffee table. He leaves, and you stare at the blue button at the top of the box. You've seen the entire Meeseeks episode, so you understand them a bit.

Personal improvement.
Specific kinds of physical labor.
Combat capable.
Multiple forks of the same task.
Completion erases fork from existence.
Pain incentivized, but still positive.
Personal psionic field to calm people who are unfamiliar with Meeseeks.
Short-term tasks can be best.

You press the button sharply, and the flesh grows out of thin air. A flexible caterpillar sort of body, the blue skin soft and curved like the contours of a stuffed animal or doll. The oversized feet (hooves?), the enormous and dexterous fingers. The head bobs about for a moment, and then the mouth opens to a full volume voice, a grin of ecstasy on its face.

"I'm Mr. Meeseeks! Look at me!"

A thread dedicated to discussion and feedback of games and homebrews made by /tg/ regarding anything from minor elements to entire systems, as well as inviting people to playtest your games online. While the thread's main focus is mechanics, you're always welcome to share tidbits about your setting.

Try to keep discussion as civilized as possible, avoid non-constructive criticism, and try not to drop your entire PDF unless you're asking for specifics, it's near completion or you're asked to.

Here's an interesting question I've tried bringing up before: How do you use cards in your games? Do you use playing cards or those premade random chance decks ever? Do you even make your own decks of cards for your games?

Posting my work in progress.

A few questions:
1) Does the game's combat math look compatible enough with 4E's math to port monsters over?

2) Does the modification system for weapons and armor seem potentially broken, and are there any modifications you think I should add or remove?

3) Does the doom point mechanic make sense?
>>
>>45289085

Cards are quite useful for initiative (see Savage Worlds.)

I also like using playing cards to build random terrain in games with looser positioning rules. You can just draw cards and set them down in a grid, using the suits and ranks to randomly determine terrain features.

You are Charlie Dennet. Magician, student and, assuming you make it out of this apartment, vanquisher of demons.

Through a mix of luck, both good and bad, and your magic you managed to stop the Hell Hound that was mauling your new 'friend' Amon's wris. Unfortunately, it seems hell hounds are made of tougher stuff than you would anticipate and the four legged monstrosity slowly gets to it's feet, seemingly ignorant of the weight of the fridge it toppled over when you sent it flying.

This thing has you beat in the physical department, which means you're going to have to think of something quick if you want to get yourself, Adrianna and Amon out of this apartment alive. Given what you know about Hellhounds, you know that Amon is lucky to be alive; a Hellhound is stronger than your average man, capable of hitting almost 50 MPH and are fairly smart.

This is not going to be an easy win, that's for sure.

The Hellhounds shakes itself, throwing the ridge to the floor with a crash, it growls and takes a single step forwards, gaze shiting from you to Amon and back. You're no expert on animals, but you know what's probably going on in it's head; it's trying to decide which of you to go for. Amon is weakened and vulnerable, but you seem to be protecting him. It doesn't want to give you another chance at it's flank or back, but it's instincts are telling to jump on the boy it started on.

It's indecision is giving you an opening to...

>A. Use MirOsis to try and keep this thing guessing
>B. Grab Amon and tell Adrianna to run for it; at least one of you should make it out
>C. Toss a coin somewhere in the room and take a run at the thing, try and distract it
>D. Take the broom from Adrianna and try to keep this thing busy

The MirOsis option will cause it to attack Amon.

Wat do? Assume humanity has been operating on a non-contact with primitive races and has not encountered another space-faring race. (That we can prove).

What's the existing precedence for non-space-faring intelligent races with sufficient technology?

Surely this isn't a first encounter?
>>
>>45287480
Presumably these primitives aren't all living in one location on their garden world planet.

So, what we do is eradicate that and any nearby settlements that may know of that technology in a single orbital strike and then do better to hide the satellite. The alien settlements on other continents will continue on without a clue.

No other race has noticed us. That we know of at least. No contact attempts have been made. Most are Stone aged or Bronze aged. Only a few seem to have developed early kingdoms.

Hello /tg/, I'd like to make a monster together with you. We will be starting with something small, nothing larger than your average human.

First of all we must figure out what kind of monster we are creating. Will it be land based? Capable of flight? A creature of the sea?

Let's work together to make monster.

Someone's knocking on my door, or trying to knock it down, seeing as they're hitting it hard enough to wake me up from it. I sit up straight, Maria still clinging to me sound asleep and squeezing me as she tries to pull me back down to the bed.

The room is empty except for what's already inside of it. A dim morning light gently fills room as the sun rises, making the marble floor glint in it. I scoot a bit further, Maria whimpering and trying to pull me back as I try to see who dared to wake me up so early in the morning, when I was having such a good sleep.

Oh, of course, there's one of those letters with a four leaf clover stamped on the front, and the words URGENT scrawled all over it.

What do I do?
[] get up and get it
[] take a cat nap first
[] send a spirit to go get it
[] use strings to pull it over 1d20
[] Fall back asleep
[] wake Maria up
[] Get a bite to eat

So which tabletop rpg system has the best balance between magic users and non-magic users?

On the level of "no disparity whatsoever", a whole bunch of them.
D&D 4e, Tenra Bansho Zero, Dungeon World, Legend (RoC), Super Console, Grancrest, Make You Kingdom, Ryuutama, Log Horizon, Splittermond, The Dark Eye, Beyond the Wall, Sword World, Alshard Gaia, Arianrhod, Silver Rain...

Shadowrun is pretty good. Internal balance isn't as important as the fact that you need certain roles in your team filled, and one of those is someone magically attuned.

If you don't have a magic-user then you're liable to being tracked by astrally projecting magicians, to miss certain clues that can be picked up by assensing, and to miss out on all the magical shenanigans mages can pull, amongst other things.

On the other hand if you have nothing BUT magic-users, opponents who resist magic (artificial drones, adepts with certain powers, etc) can wreck your shit, and the enemy will use the Matrix against you unhindered.

You awake in your sleeping place, warmed by your body after a long night. The sleeping chamber is empty, devoid of your pack members. You leap to the ground and review the three barks.

1. A dog must never harm their pack, or through inaction allow harm to come to their pack
2. A dog must obey any command given by the pack alpha, unless this command conflicts with the first bark
3. A dog must work to preserve their health and safety, unless doing so would conflict with the first or second bark

You chew on your leg for a moment, and prepare to begin your day.

It was another peaceful day at your home, the caw of roosters, bleating of sheep and goats. You!rise from bed and crack your neck with a satisfying pop.

"Rowan, Breakfast"! Mother called out to you in a soothing tone. Always caring, always nurturing. Heading along the creaky wood floor into the kitchen and take a seat at the table. You munch on an apple and a piece of bread, drowning it down with water and eat a small bit of salty fish to finish off as you give her a hug goodbye.
