i have never met a dm who doesn't allow players to pick between rolling and choosing arrays. that is weirdly controlling. you should dm yourself if you want to tell players what they can and can't do.

No I haven't

It was kind of depressing, since not only was I trying to play as myself, but it was in a vaguely fantasy version of where I live in the real world. So sometimes it just got a bit too real.

I also had to live with my stats being shitty, which didn't really make it fun to roleplay myself. Every action I did was supposed to be what 'I' would do - I couldn't do things just for the mechanical advantage because that would be unrealistic or make me look like a dick when I hid instead of helping, and me being me meant that I couldn't just do things for the most perfectly moral reasons - not only am I not exactly a selfless paladin, but it would put me at amazing risks to try and save everyone getting attacked by an ent.

Played in a horrible WhiteWolf game years ago where all the PCs were just the players. Concept was cool. It took us maybe 3 sessions to realize that the ST didn't know the system, and playing yourself in a game set in WoD doesn't really work when you are supposed to have woken up one day to a different reality and one of the players has dissociative identity disorder.

Since I managed to post RIGHT AS THE THREAD ARCHIVED last time... Here's another attempt at my possibly-ill-advised Homebrew VtR Mystery!

I took people's advice and went back to the drawing board with it, narrowing its focus and adjusting its power level (and making it a bit more obviously "we stole half of this shit from Sin-Eaters").

Thoughts/Comments/Critiques? I'm still having trouble judging what can be considered "balanced" for Coils, given that we only have a few official ones to compare to (and two of those aren't even final yet). Also, any suggestions for cooler names for Coils and Scales would be awesome, as names are never my strong suit...

-I'd like to add an Auspex-style mechanic to the first Coil that allows the Dragon to ask a question about a Ghost/Anchor/Etc once per session/chapter - good idea? How often should they be able to use it?

-Yes, the 4th Coil is just a Sin-eater's Boneyard Manifestation. The temporary Influence mechanic is supposed to somewhat replicate (some of) the different Keys; if someone has any suggestions of how better to handle that (or even just better terms for the Influences to give) I'd love to hear them.

Completed Research:
>Beasts Parasites: The multitude of parasites living inside the Beast was quite staggering, most of them comprised of mostly worm-like creatures. These worms burrowed through the flesh of the Beast and living within it's veins. Ranging from only a few inches long to specimens several yards long the parasites exhibited a diversity of species. Many sported large mandibles dripping with a numbing venom and sported tough bristles that aided in their movement through dirt or flesh.

>Rukor Gorilla: A distant and less intelligent cousin to the Ructu natives this large beast is considered the apex predator of the land dwelling fauna, intimidating even kryssers that attempt to ambush them from the water. The creature can walk on all fours or its smaller hind pair to use their large forelimbs and powerful claws to break down trees or dig through clay and dirt in search of burrowing creatures. Omnivorous it can eat the various fruits and the occasional foliage of trees it brings down but seems to prefer fresh meat.

You wake up to a steady swaying. You look around and find yourself in a small room, sunlight creeping in from the window. There are three small beds, including the one you're in. Sasuke and Shikamaru are asleep in the others. You glance out the window to find the sun peeking out over the horizon, the ocean as far as you can see.

That's right. You're on a ship. The four of you ran at top speed with almost no breaks for nearly two days and nights to the coast, where you caught a ship to the Water Country. You were all so tired, you went straight to your rooms and slept. Well, you're awake now. And unless Sakura is awake, you're the first one up. The trip was said to take two days by boat, so you have a bit of time to relax before you take off running again.

You don’t remember what happened next.

You’re lying naked in bed and the sun is peeking through the window. It’s already quite high in the sky so you’ve slept uncommonly long. Lying beside you is the reason for that. Hiss yawns, stirred by your sudden movement, then goes back to sleep.
You remember last night quite vividly. It had been...eventful. Your clothes and hers are scattered around the room with your pack lying discarded in the corner.

You hadn’t talked as much as you would have liked.

You don’t recognize the room you’re in exactly but you’d wager that you’re in master bedroom out behind the inn, where the innkeeper and his wife used to live out of. You’d managed to ask Hiss about what had happened to those two before she got impatient and she had simply shrugged and implied that they were ‘around somewhere’. She probably did something dreadful to them.

Just get a small ~750 point force to play friendly games with. Spend ~7 hours painting each model, then not only will you impress the shoes off everyone, you'll get your moneys worth of GW prices.

Never get into tournaments, it'll just make you want to spend $2000 every few months making sure you've got the latest version of Taudar.
