Can Tyranids fall to Chaos?
What would happen if a Hive Fleet fell to Chaos?
Tyranids literally cannot fall to chaos.
They're so negligible to chaos in terms of emotional sustenance that Daemons struggle to hold their corporeal forms when they're fighting against Tyranids.
Tyranids have no emotions, they have no souls, they are just barely more alive than zombies in the eyes of Chaos, there's nothing to latch onto.
>>54719952
>Tyranids have no emotions
Not necessarily true. A number of stories describe Tyranids as having an inherent, built-in hatred of all non-tyranid life as well as an intense desire to kill non-tyranid life.
Why are Lizard-Folk criminal underrepresented in fantasy games?

Konor will not matter.
Named Guardfags worstfags? Y/N?
Second for "Will Forgeworld make models for the Other Dawn of War characters?"
So I've been trying to create my first deck, to no avail. I ask you of /tg/ to help me build it. If anyone's interested in this, you can post your deck ideas or give helpful advice for those of us who are just beginning.
how new are you to the game?
what cards do you have to work with?
do you want to build something just for fun with friends, or tourney/FNM play?
Are you willing to spend money?
What colours do you wish to play?
>>54718760
Very new
Mainly a booster box of Hour of Devastation and a blue/black deck from drafts
Just for now something good
I am willing to spend money.
Probably blue/black
>>54718760
Not terribly new
I have a shit ton of Hour and Amonkhet cards, trying to make a deck based around the new Bolas planeswalker card i managed to pull two of. Most definitely willing to spend money.
I am torn between building an EDH deck or a Standard one
In a no-magic setting, what's the correct way to treat the wound from a weapon that was smeared in feces?
If it was poison I would say antidote, but this is disease which is pretty different.
Disinfectant and antibiotics.
>>54717522
Give him basic anti-biotics and then watch him die
>>54717522
Disinfect the wound.
If necessary, prescribe antibiotics.

what do you need to get the vizier storm cannon thing up and running? i'm looking at the rajah which is pretty awesome except for the half BAB thing and wondering if you can just feat the guns into it and be good to go
What strength should a ranged Soldier have? Can I stick with 10 and ignore heavy weapons? When are weapons getting leaked?

You don't need the full BAB unless you want to be a full attack babby
Attacking through Vassalage gives you a huge to-hit boost
Is there any work not focused on mathematical optimization that goes into the topics of multi-objective game theory?
For example, how do you handle things like TCGs where you can Deck-out, Kill, Poison (kill but different), or Special Victory (Exodia, etc.)?
In the game tree description of a game, you could end up making a move that puts you closer to Decking-out an opponent, but sets you back in terms of Killing. It wouldn't make sense to value these on the same metric if your deck is a Mill deck anyways, so giving the opponent extra HP has no impact on your strategy.
How would you even do A* for such a thing in the general case? Seems like move selection would have to be on a Pareto Frontier rather than on a traditional Max score.
Sounds like some variant of asymmetric play were each player has control over their path to victory. I can think of plenty of games which do it (netrunner, mtg, 7 wonders). You could also look at Eurogames in general with their multiple point generating objectives. Changing how many points each objective gives assigns various weights to how valuable that objective is.
>>54716642
However, this weighting and in-the-moment selection of path is hard to encapsulate. One could very easily change their path at a certain point and be at a completely different score towards that new objective. Meaning that applying something like Minmax wouldn't work just out of the box.
Looking at Eurogame, it seems like in many cases, the winner is decided by some combined score total, since there's a lack player elimination. This would be a single-objective game.
A game which allows for player elimination bears multiple routes to that end, each valuing different actions more or less. In the end, using some average weight for these actions across all possible objectives seems like a bad decision which will poorly represent every victory route, rather than represent each fairly well.
I'm very familiar with a lot of the games you mentioned themselves, but I'm more looking for a general theory surrounding the evaluation of games at the abstract level, simply having multiple possible objectives to which actions contribute variably to each.
Bump from the 7th page.
So I recently got my hands on the PHB, DMG and Drows of the Underdark for AD&D 2e. Haven't had the time to read them through properly, but I've been looking around the web and as expected, there are a lot of different opinions on it. Either way, I'll probably try to run it, but I have a few questions:
What are differences someone who has only played d20 in the form of 3.PF and 5e expect?
Are there any traps to avoid as a GM?
Any modules you recommend, or should I homebrew all of it?
What's your opinion? What's your favorite setting? Any stories to tell? Let's have a 2e thread!

>What are differences someone who has only played d20 in the form of 3.PF and 5e expect?
Better fighters, faster combat, less hit points, less options - which actually opens your mind and imagination into coming up with your own shit. The system actually works and isn't terrible.
>Any modules you recommend, or should I homebrew all of it?
I've always found the Village of Hommlet to be a damn near perfect introductory model. It's got a bunch of traps and secret doors that you can practice proper searching (i.e. not just perception rolls) on, a few tough fights to get around in imaginitive and tactical ways, and an instant death or two to teach the players to always look up. Have everyone roll up two characters. Can't go wrong with it.
>What's your favorite setting?
I like Wilderlands of High Fantasy, though I tend to plug up plenty of other shit on top of it.
>>54715233
I'm a 5e player and I recently read 2e books (didn't play it yet)
>What are differences someone who has only played d20 in the form of 3.PF and 5e expect?
The first thing you will notice is that classes don't have a bunch of abilities: fighters just get a bonus to hit and extra attacks, thieves get better at thieving, wizards learn and cast more spells.
THAC0 is a little confusing at first and might take a time for you to get it right.
>Are there any traps to avoid as a GM?
Take a good look at every kit before allowing them.
>What's your opinion?
It feels different from newer editions, I really want to give it a try soon

Will roll20 tokens ever be posted from CoS?
>>54715202
Pretty sure roll20 tokens is what gets troves banned half the time.
Most dms create their own items for use in their games, and they are often pretty interesting. What are some of your favorite items that you have used or seen used, and feel free to share any stories relating to that item.

First for GSCB, you will never be forgotten.
Is there a video game that capture better the essence of 40k than Battlefleet Gothic ? Hot damn I'm replaying the campaign and the atmosphere is on point.
Newfag who bought too much on ebay here.
I got about 30 space marines with only a few heavy weapons included and 3 dreads. Where do I go from here in making an army that's not fundamental garbage? ideally in the 1k range
The party I'm running for keeps finding a bunch of armor. Obviously they tend to be sized for humans, but our main melee fighter is about half that size.
Every time we find a piece of magic armor or a fancy helmet, he asks: "Well can't I find a blacksmith to fit it for me?"
I'm pretty sure this very notion is a fucking ridiculous but I'm shit at words and can't put it into a good argument. So I need your help in either helping me explain why it's so retarded, or explaining to me how it could actually work.
>>54714392
If the helmet is magic enough, it could change size to fit his owner. On the other hand, it might have too much self-respect to want to sit on the head of a manlet
>>54714392
Instead of trying to justify not allowing him to resize the equipment, how about trying to find a way for him to do it. A blacksmith may not be able to resize it, but maybe a magician could shrink it down for him or something.

>Everyone in /tg/ saying that being a forever DM is the worst feeling ever and it sucks
>I enjoy DMing MUCH more than being a player
I'm not the only one with this opinion right?
>>54713117
I prefer to DM, myself, but I just want to play at least sometimes as a player. It just feels like two completely different things to me. DMing is fun because I like seeing my players have fun with what I've made, and I enjoy having the chance of playing dozens of NPCs and try a number of weird mechanical combinations for encounters; on the other hand, being able to focus on a single character and have fun exploring and solving mysteries/stabbing shit without already knowing everything that is going to happen and spending weeks of prep work would be neat once in a while.
Players who absolutely refuse to DM are typically worse than players who will.
Obviously there are individuals who break the mold, but refusing to ever step up is typically a sign of laziness and/or entitlement that makes for shit players.
But in general I agree with >>54713300 in that they are two very different things for me.
