Stage 115: Kith and Kin.
There are a great many thing you thought you were going to do with your life. Kill people, that was almost a certainty. Lay the beat down on various spirit-children of rival clans, sure. Gather mystical knowledge and power until you were a force to be reckoned with, that was a sure thing. Sleep with some of the hottest chicks in Tokyo for sure. Get a reputation that would make other members of your clan speak of you in awed tones. Beat the crap out of legendary youkai. Childish things, really.
Of course, you've actually achieved all of those things, though not ~quite~ in the manner you'd planned to, and certainly not for the reasons you'd dreamed them up in the first place. So technically you can call yourself a success at your childhood dreams, which is more than msot people can say about their childhood dreams.
But coming face to face with your real father, the Dragon Kami of the Sea, was definitely not on that list.
So, here you are, standing in front of your father's left eye, which is four feet taller than you are, as you float slightly above the ocean floor. Your new friend Toshida Ginka, a rather nice and very sheltered – relatively speaking – youkai-born, is kowtowed next to you, trembling in absolute terror of the manifested deity. Which you really can't fault her for in the slightest, mostly because....well, he's Ryujin. Even if he did just compliment you on a job well done. Defeating the twin Daimyo of Clan Ryo without killing either of them is pretty impressive, but you still have blood on your hands and you're supposed to present your father with the transitional offering for protecting Mikimoto Pearl Island.
>>46009102
Which your family and Ah-sama have spiritually wrecked, which means sometime soon Mikimoto Pearl Island – with the important and notable exceptions of the ocean floor and the temple on the island – will eventually suffer an equally destructive occurrence in the physical world. You're fairly certain that's going to be your fault, so it was kind of inevitable, but at leas the opportunity to rebuild is present. Yay?
First things first, however. You have a rather delicate situation on your hands.

I had completely forgotten that the US had DST this weekend. Wasn't expecting this for another hour. How's the health doing, XS?
Scheiße!
And things were going pretty smooth up until now!
You successfully hunted and killed a man without freaking out, you managed to quench your thirst for souls and you managed to get some information about this "afterlife".
Then everything went from merely bleak to completely hopeless.
A quincy, a known hunter of hollows, have appeared before you and opened fire on you and the two other hollows you've met.
As you tried to run you got shot in the face and lost one of your gillstalks as a result.
But the best part is, that the large hollow whom you were actually a little affraid of attacked this madwoman and managed to get himself killed almost instantly.
Luckily for you he managed to create a very effective diversion by crashing into the ground.
The alleyway in which you are lying is full of rubble, well even more full than it already was.
In the large crater lies the dead hollow while right next to you is the quincy under a large pile or debris.
You are not sure how long that will keep her occupied, if at all.
As you are trying to get your bearings you realise just how much your ears are ringing from the explosion like entrance of the atrophied hollow. Through the ringing you can hear someone speaking, perhaps even shouting, you can't make it out as it's too muffled to understand.
After a few failed attempts you manage to get on your feet, standing upright once more you grasp your head from the pain and you realise your mask has repaired itself, convenient.
As you try to find the source of the noise you can see Stern, the primate hollow crouching next to his ally, he is rocking the lifeless body back and forth with both arms, tears pouring out from the eyeholes of his mask.
"Gramps! Gramps! Say something, please! I beg you, just get up and let's leave! GRAMPS!"
It's clear he can't contain himself anymore, as he stops moving the corpse around hoping he would open his eyes and just simply lowered his forehead onto the large hollows chest.
As your head finally clears you get ready for your next action, feeling how dire the situation is.
On one hand running away with your tail between your legs and hoping your ability to hide will save you does seem tempting.
On the other you don't think the woman is in as bad of a shape as you are and she'd probably easily catch up to you if you aren't fast enough, so evening the odds might be a good idea.
Meanwhile you can't decide what to do with the boy, you are glad Gramps decided for some reason to save you but not glad enough to risk your own life saving his associate just because you owe him one.
>Run as fast as you can, everything else will be a waste of your time
>Try and make sure your assailant won't be able to pursue you easily
>Other? (write-in)
Also:
What to do about the hollows, if anything?
Give me 3d10 and this time we take the final result into consideration (i.e. 6,4,5= a roll of 15)
Rolled 1, 3, 9 = 13 (3d10)

Right, I'm running Dark Heresy with a group who can do social stuff, but mostly prefer to just do things directly and messily. So I thought why not make an adventure based around space westerns, fluff and such be damned. Was wondering if anyone could help me tie some of it together. I'm thinking of having them investigate a bunch of bandit attacks that involve weaponry way more complex then is usual on the planet, and eventually have it tied to some sort of cult or the likes.
Tl;dr OP needs a little help cobbling together an adventure
>>46008438
The villains are Tau
>>46008438
Firefly?
Players are the crew of the serenity, on the run from mainstream imperial authority (for contrived plot reasons) and they fight against an overt khornate cult (reavers) and have monster-of-the-week subplots against stuff like eldar, tau, rogue planetary governors etc on the fringe of imperial space
Even just straight adapting the show/cast
-Mal is your interrogator/inquisitor who doesn't play by imperial rules and has a sense of decency and fairness
-Wash is obviously your pilot
-Kaley is a slightly heretical mechanicus adept
-River is an Alpha-plus unstable psyker who the inquisition isafter for her power
-Jane is a brutal combat adept and Zoe is an all-rounder adept who is better on her feet
-Simon is a hospitaller or Magos Biologis
-Shepard is an imperial priest
Obviously have the players come up with their own characters and shit, but I would make it firefly with a thin enough veneer that the players wont notice right away
>>46008889
>>46009193
Right, this gave me an idea.
Bait and switch plot.
Tau secretly supplying a chaos cult.
After a while of checking the cult and eventually wiping them out, either have Tau connection revealed or if the cult cause enough damage because players took too long have a Tau advance force show up.
Would that work?

LINKS LIKELY TO BE DEAD THIS IS MONTHS OLD
Mornin' gents, I have two simple questions for you guys.
1. Is it believable that Mon Mothma would have a son before the clone wars who would be around the age of 12-14 when order 66 started,and...
2. would you find it believable that she would do the opposite of the Organa's and distance him from the rebellion for his protection?
Kreia was right to do what she did.

>Tell us about your last session!
Ok, I start:
>tried a "film noir" style game with my group
>20's, fictional American city (we're Europeans and lazy)
>Camarilla politics and shit
>Brujah gangsters try to take control of the "business" in the city
>Players: Assamite agent working for the Prince, Gangrel "lone wolf", Giovanni detective (yes, it's very interesting) and a Brujah gangster
Last session was pretty fun, but I fear that the story is going nowhere.
Also I think the Big Bad will be a Dracula-style Tzimisce who's "Jyhading" in the background, playing chess with the Brujah gangsters and the Prince.
What do you think?
>>46007510
>>46007357
>Also: "that guy" encounters in WoD games.
The Assamite player is a "that girl" who desperately wants to act as a "msyterious, exotic femme fatale from the One Thousand and One Nights", but she overdoes it and it's really annoying.
And I think she has some kinda mental illness, too...
I'm playing a Psionic in a super freeform game where Psionics are rare and hunted down with extreme prejudice. There are no mechanical constraints to speak of. The GM has so far allowed me to move objects telepathically, read minds, brainwash people, crush objects that are contained inside other solid objects, and once gave me an extremely difficult roll to essentially level a building from the inside.
What else can I do with my Psionics, /tg/? Does anyone have any clever or subtle ways I could pull off something insane without the GM immediately reevaluating his approach to Psionics?
>>46006627
Mind control a crow and use their insane social skills to develop an entire lineage of crows sworn to protect you.
>>46006681
Clever! Crows wouldn't be all that useful as protectors in this setting, but using them as a spy network would be pretty neat.
Have you considered trying to use them to tranafigure yourself to not be a colossal freeform faggot?
This is a thread to help further expand the fluff of the homeworld of the Hua Yuan 1st Exterminator Regiment, an IG regiment that /tg/ randomly rolled up using the 1d4chan creation tables, specifically that of the history of the hive and the regiment.
Here's the regiment thus far: https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Hua_Yuan_Exterminators
And what little we have on the moon: https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Hua_Yuan
Taken from the Wiki:
>Hua Yuan is an Earth-sized Hive world, on the Eastern Fringe of the galaxy. It boasts an atmosphere comprised mostly of Neon and Kaihonium, a valuable gaseous element useful for several industrial processes. One of several moons of a large Gas Giant, Hua Yuan is geologically dead, however despite this, the moon boasts rich deposits of several different elements, including adamantine.
>The atmosphere of the planet is extremely turbulent, with lighting storms giving the planet's entire surface an ominous glow as the skies are split by orange lightning, and make human habitation of the planet's surface all but impossible. As a result the majority of the planet's surface remains untouched by the hand of man, but in the depths of the equatorial canyon a sprawling hive reaches deep beneath the surface, marked only by the towering spires of the superstructure of a long-wrecked spacecraft.
We've taken this and fluffed the world as three parts Kowloon, two parts Hong Kong, and ten parts Cyberpunk Necromunda. Descendants the crew of a gigantic mining vessel that crashed on an inhospitable planet and survived despite it all. This has lead to a severe division between the upper hive nobility, the mid hive working class, and the low hive gangers and scum, and much worse.
So feel free to join in and provide fluff, images or whatever you'd like. This belongs to /tg/
IMPORTANT: We're fluffing a WH40k TTRPG splat. Don't oversaturate the influences and update the wiki with old stuff

I tried to ask this in the last thread, but I genuinely, genuinely don't see how their being a pre-existing colony "cheapens" anything, particularly if you want them to be densely packed AND it being a relatively recent hive (eg. a thousand years). I mean, the key things are
+ Horrifying population size and density
+ Vaguely Hong Kong-y aesthetics inspired by point one
+ Tyranids ("recent" invaders of 40k galaxy)
Yes? We agree that's the core assumptions we're working from? Can you explain to me what the problem with their being people there to start the process of building the mine/processing facility/living area (in a ravine, if I recall correctly) for at least some time before in order to generate the infrastructure and population base for the numbers we need in the time frame we have?
>>46006966
To be fair, HK didn't -really- start developing until the Brits came round.
Before that we're mostly just a small fishing village with people living in boats (and some other people bumming about in New Territories, but back then the Brits nabbed HK island first before working upwards)
In other words, nothing like the overcrowded commerce/finance/tourism-based metropolis we are now.
It all happened in a little over 100 years too, so it's not entirely impossible.

I assume you're playing deathwatch.
Do
>Keep track on horde magnitude and remember to roll for breaking
>Remember horde traits - some hordes frenzy instead of breaking
>Supplements have advanced horde traits and commands, allowing hordes to merge, split and regroup after successfull Command test - this will motivate your players to single out lieutenants and actually create memorable opponents instead of amorphous mass of guns
>Remember number of attacks hordes have
>Remember bonus damage dependant on magnitude hordes inflict
>Remember horde attacks cannot be dodged or parried, likewise horde cannot dodge or parry
Don't
>Think flat increase of horde magnitude will give greater challenge - if anything, it will wipe out player in a single hit, which is both unrewarding and unheroic way to go. Try throwing several smaller hordes on them, which will require teamwork and coordination in order not to be overrun
>Use same enemy for several hordes in the encounter if you can avoid it - different tiers of enemies will make enemy more believable and will require target prioritisation
>Forget about including single enemies. A team of three snipers supporting enemy horde can really change the encounter from shoot'em'up arcade into a tactical challenge
>Be afraid to include vehicles: a platoon of guardsmen is more likely than not be supported by one or two chimeras with flame throwers and multilasers, allowing enemies to manoeuvre players into killzones and ambushes
>Make the hordes stand in the field and keep shooting until they're dead. Have one charge and close into melee, while other throws grenade, another suppresses and third outflanks your players.
And always remember horde is not a blob with attacks - it is an enemy, which depending on their background will behave and react differently, employ tactics, strategy and cunning.
I've been thinking of running a Fate- or FAE-campaign about teenage delinquents and their problems, somewhat similar in themes to the UK TV show Skins. Most likely, however, my players will want something supernatural added to it, such as demons or magic, to keep it interesting.
I want to focus on the drama, but what can I add to have some action? Also, teenage problem tips, I've already thought of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll...

It seems that the only thing Umbra enjoy more than committing horrific acts of cruelty is showing off their abs.
