Interactive field where you play the creatures rather than just the "battlefield". For instance, having to assign a creature to the Hill, and being King of the Hill generates a Gem each turn which you can use to pay your creatures to use their special abilities. Also, mechanics to recur old spells during your turn.

How do you handle servant/assistant type characters in your games? People who can do things like counting the PC's money or carrying shit but aren't intended or aren't made for action? Are they exclusively GM controlled or can the PC's control them? To what extent can PC's control them?

Is the GM controlling them a warning sign that they're going to betray you or is just a given?

First of all, SPOILERS.


Second of all, PCs shouldn't control much outside of their own characters. There are a few reasonable exceptions (Extras in Savage Worlds, Followers/Cohorts in D&D, and WoD has similar things) but even within those I wouldn't give each PC control over much, and none would have more access/power than the character they play. Your GM controlling an NPC is not a bad sign at all.

In order to get ready for a tournament, you must realize that several faggots are going to bring broken lists that they found on Reddit, another couple will run the meta because they are incapable of being even remotely original and at least one guy will bring a TIE swarm because 'muh Empire'.

In order to make a good list, think about how you would fly against it.
>Who is the most dangerous
>Is it based on a single gimmick? If so, is it easily rendered moot?
>Can you confidently fly the list?

Sheer piloting ability can shred even the most op lists. If you find yourself struggling to gage distances and where your ships will land, just plunk down some rocks on a table and start flying. As for determining where your opponents will maneuver, learn the dials and play a ton of games against different lists.

But most importantly, have fun.

I just bought the Necron starter box with the 12 warriors, lord and stalker.

I don't have the codex yet, but what I wanted to do is have my army be led by a "Rogue Necron Warrior" who's taken the place of the unit's lord. And I'm modeling it off of Peace from Wizards (Pictured).

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to modify Warrior to be sitting atop a mount like this and if there's an appropriate HQ I could use instead of a Lord?

Why are you hung up on that deck? Get something different, there are so many cards that are cheaper online than in paper. I bought gimped Legacy Burn for 20 quid, can play naked (underwear is for shitters) and still win.

A lot of when we play how we play etc etc is open to discussion as for the game itself, Welcome to Camden New Jersey this game is running Palladium TMNT Ninjas and Superspies and Heroes Unlimited but players will be TMNT characters with martial arts from NS, making this a heavy martial arts game more so than the TMNT was originally with mutant animals in the worst city in New JErsey and probably the USA over all, where superheroes exist in the setting but not in the city, Mutant Animals have spontaneously started appearing in camden developing from the local wild life, making things even worse for people, Lots of room for Heroes to be heroic and also to steer the direction of how this world which is allready familiar with supers is going to percieve and react to the idea of mutant animals. aliens comic book heroes and villains, and lots of ninjas will be the sorts of things you'll encounter. This is an open call to players. Familiarity with palladium an asset, but mostly enthusiasm for a martial arts mutant animal game will be required, group chargen and a short inaugural origin story session will make up the first session so everyone is welcome.

I've been planning on running a game of D&D for some mates and uploading to the videos to Youtube, and I'm trying to settle on a virtual tabletop due to the limitations of Google Hangouts.

I've had a look at Roll20, and was wondering what others experiences have been like, and how it compares to other similar virtual tabletops, as someone had mentioned something called Maptools & Tabletop Simulator, amongst others, in chat.

Making a homebrew. Skill/Ability improvment through use dawned on me. Exploitable?

My thoughts were that each use of a skill or ability would add points to improving the use of it, eventually raising it's level. At a high enough level, you'd no longer need to roll below certain difficulties for tasks involving those skills or abilities.

The first thing that came to mind is what's to stop players from using skills over and over again to improve them. But then maybe higher skill/ability levels require higher challenge ratings to earn improvements?

I don't have a whole lot fleshed out. It's called Mettle.

I also wanted to implement the idea of skill trees, to try to force people to choose between strong focus, or broad dabbling.

Another idea I've latched on to was flexible adjustable enemy/monster cards for DMs. A small group, maybe ten to twenty, of different stat blocks of enemies to skin as you please, maybe add a couple of different abilities here or there for different scenarios.

difficult, because the players depend on what their adventures gives them as opportunity and the gap between power gamers and story players will not only be thanks to their skill/ability choices but also the amount of points they have.

I think about that regulary too, but never found a solution I'm comfortable with. Closest things I'm okay with is giving the chars a discount on a number of skills/abilities they have used, or allowing them to put a fixed number of points only in the skills/abilities they have used recently, but imho that still hasn't the feeling of developing through practice....
