anyone else think a hitman roleplay game would be pretty cool?

Hi /v/
There are dozens of tabletop RPGs where you could run the Hitman games
There's absolutely nothing about it unique or interesting enough to justify a separate title
>>
>>46285491
Probably not, Hitman is pretty light on the plot and is focused entirely on one man.

Then again, I could see one person being the hitman and two or three others being info gathering, hackers, and somesuch.

So what D&D or other tabletop youtube series / twitch streams are good?

I am caught up with Critical Role, Acquisitions Inc and Chris Perkins Curse of Strahd one.

I just spotted the sourcefed one and was not adequately prepared for such casual faggotry. They didnt even have HP for fuck sake.

I just want to listen some people on an adventure as background noise while I work. Need suggestions.

Anything with Chris Perkins is honestly gold.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out D&Diesel from the Nerdist
>>

Really like Critical Role but I don't really know any others

Threshold is a good one on YouTube though
>>
>>46285555

Yup, D&Diesel's DM is Matthew Mercer, the DM from critical role.

Any other Perkins ones of note other than Strahd and Acquisitions?

A fleet of ships carrying the emperor of mankind appears, this ship is dated at the time of the great crusades.

However.. this isn't the emperor you know today its the emperor of the past. His ship was thrown far forward into the future.

What would be the reaction of the imperium of man or even the enemys of mankind?

From Chaos points of view. Kill the emperor, Win the war.
>>
That would mean that it's either a parallel universe emps, or that the emps in the present and the emps in the past are the same, so the present emps already has the experience of time travel and somehow the past emps went back to the past adn whatever he did, the Imperium still ended up in the same shit state.

TLDR fuck time travel.

They won't have a reaction. Be'lakor would use his time warping powers to erase the Emperor and reset the timeline to the way it is.

It's a fun system with lots of character customization options. However you've got to understand just how much bookkeeping is involved for both you and the players. Every encounter involving polemon must be preplanned ahead of timeif you don't want the game to grind to a screeching halt so you can quickly scrounge up some stats and moves for the new Pokemon character sheet the player wants to fill out.

What's your opinion of zombie campaigns, /tg/? Ever played one?
10 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I want to GM a GURPS zombie game inspired by The Last of Us and I think it will go well because of that, but most zombie games focused on "survival", in the vein of TWD just sort of putter around aimlessly.

The thing about RPGs is that they're a singular event. People show up to DO something, even if that isn't thematically appropriate. But the premise of most zombie and post apoc games is a whole lot of nothing, and players will want to avoid the things that could happen. From a storytelling perspective I think the "survival" genre is great, it's one of the few ways other than POLITICS to drag players off a neverending battlefield, but it's not well suited to the traditional RPG format. So either the GM has to engineer a game with lots of conflict right in the players' faces, or the players hwve to know what they're getting into and be interested in it from the get go.
>>
>>46284244
No, because zombies are boring as fuck. There's no variety or tactics, they're all the same and they all just run up to you and melee attack. They're stupid monsters for stupid people.
>>
>>46284472
And what if you put a twist on them? More intelligent zombies, more of a variety, specific "controllers" directing them... There's options to overcome that.

Da fuck? you know what the word ace means, right (hint, it means someone who has seen actual combat and took down 5 enemies)? Or do you mean "were incredibly good, better then the veteran, but still a rookie"?

so I'm running my first campaign and i usually use creatures from the monster manual.

but i wanted to spice things up from the normal enemies and throw some interesting types at them, so i randomly chose ooze. and the players are fighting a necromancer.

so it pained me to see there was no version of an undead slime in the book.

i was hoping you guys would help me make one.

for starters i figure its made from the rotting ooze that comes from a decomposing corpse, then a necromancer grants it life.

Help?

I dunno what level your party is, but there's a flesh and a bone ooze, respectively, in MM2, I think?

They're kind of disappointing as enemies if you know anything about the system, but they might be a good start for a necromatic themed ooze.
>>
>>46284150
This is 3.5, by the way, you didn't specify system.

If it's 5e, I have no idea.

An OK once-in-a-while party games, not awful but I'd never jump to play it. But pity the group that contains someone who spent so much money on a board game he feels he has to bring it every time in hopes people want to play it to justify the expense.
>>
It's pretty shit
>>
>>46283863
The group I regularly play with likes it. It might get repetitive if you play it, like, every week or so, but have some breaks in between and it's fine.
Also, it gets better with the expansions. More character, more skills, more enemies, more items, and more interesting missions.

why does anyone play modern at all? the format is dead.
>>
>>46283671
that requires memedern to play blue, and memedern is played by 12 year olds who are aggrobabbies who cry whenever anything not considered aggro happens.
>>
1. The majority of abilities, in particular enter-the-battlefield abilities, are triggered abilities.

2. Activated abilities in Modern tend to be on multi-turn activated abilities, like vial and manlands, rather than sacrifice effects. As such, you're typically just gaining a turn of tempo instead of 2 for 1ing.

So it's narrow effect, and doesn't do enough when it does hit something to justify its narrowness.

Anon, please don't comment an ongoing game.

Quick, think of your all-time favorite character that you have actually played, or are currently playing.

Got them in mind?

Could they defeat Artorias of the Abyss, assuming they were well and truly trapped in a room with him?
14 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>46283055
I find that the majority of these situations are answered by "what system am I using" rather than "how powerful/skilled in my character".

90% of all of these result with Exalted players laughing at how easily they beat everything forever, and the only times anyone is ever "at risk" is when they are using low-power shit, usually d20 shit.

It's like, why bother? Most characters would be able to beat probably anything you threw at them as long as it was a conceivable threat. Artorias isn't impressive by any stretch, but on the flipside if you said "The One Above All" because Superman is too mainstream for you, then everyone would just shrug and not care because no one really beats TOAA.

It's whatever, man.

Can a level 365 Cleric of Pelor beat the shit out of him?

Whenever someone says "Can character from universe X defeat Universe Y," I think, well, that would be up to whoever writes the story. And to answer that question, I consider a followup - Given two authors, which could beat up the other? They will write the story and have their character win.

For example, if someone asks who would win between Conan and Cthulhu, I would say Conan easily, because Robert E. Howard was a trained pugilist and could totally destroy the sickly Lovecraft, then go on and write the story over Lovecraft's broken body, who can do nothing about it. (I know they were close friends, but still. It's just an example.)

How do we fix wilderness encounter tables /tg/?

In theory it should provide atmosphere and emphasize that you're traveling through uncharted dangerous territory. In practice, the fights provide little more than speed bumps, a steady trickle of XP for no reason, and sometimes an incredibly powerful enemy that will more likely than not TPK.

How do you implement random encounters so that they do something useful?
13 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
>>46282508
It's really up to you to introduce and use whatever they're going to encounter as organically as possible and construct the atmosphere. It's also up to you to reroll every now and then.
>>
>>46282576
Well, just to be a little more clear.

I'm trying to figure out how to make wilderness encounters more akin to open world wandering monsters.

Wandering monsters keep the party moving, and provide a steady drain of resources, encouraging the players to move quickly through a dungeon.

I want the open world random encounters to do something similar, motivating the players to try to move through the wilderness as quickly as possible, rather than just being a recurring annoyance.

Set up hunting trails, they run into far more beasts there. Watering holes, cover, places to sleep. You really would need maps to concentrate beasts in areas where beasts would be naturally.

You could use literal Beastmen from WHFB, it'd serve your purposes well.
