You're now tasked with making a new character based on the Jesus-archetype. Race does not matter but you have to use theses:
>Be raised by a single mother (Or father)
>Showed qualities of a leader as a child
>Gather a group of followers
>Challenge the current system of beliefs/government
>Be betrayed by his most trusted friend
>Endure long days of torture
>"Die" and be resurrected

Also, Judas was not his most trusted friend. Now, if you mean being denied by Peter (one of the three most important disciples), then that could be reasoned.

If Unknown Armies had a school of magic based on dank memes what kind of powers would it have?
10 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Unknown Armies magic schools are built around a fundamental paradox, an innate contradiction which warps the users perception. If you actually wanted to do this, the first stage would be nailing down that innate contradiction.

Is it the strange temporal nature of memes? That new ones arise all the time seemingly from nowhere, and yet the old ones continue to spread and be repeated long after their relevance has faded?

Is it the curiosity of individual creativity being taken by vast anonymous masses, who create a culture of shared ownership and yet become outraged at any attempt to stake a claim?

I'm honestly not sure. It's not the most fruitful source, IMO, but if you want it to actually work, you need to figure this out.
>>
None.

>>46289187
Hmm.. maybe this: memes are made to be original and subversive but a successful meme is by nature repeated endlessly by others until there is nothing novel about it and it becomes utterly mundane. Memes are made to be inside jokes but once a meme grows popular enough then it is no longer an inside joke.

Because the typical nerd doesn't know enough about neolithic cultures and tech (read: anything at all, because Tolkien never wrote a book about them) to feel confident trying to kickstart a (magic-, if applicable)industrial revolution in the setting.

And if it's not possible to do that, nerds aren't interested in your setting period.

You stayed the night, just as you promised you would.

In retrospect, maybe it wasn't such a good idea. It's hard to deny that you enjoyed the time spent in Howa's company – just as it would be hard to deny that she enjoyed it equally well – but you know enough about life to know when something is too good to be true. It had been growing increasingly difficult leaving Howa behind as you went about your missions, and that had been when you considered her a friend – a sister, at most.

Things are different now. Perhaps it was Tawn's near-death that spurred you on, or perhaps it was an honesty held back by countless years of uncertainty, but you finally faced up to your feelings for the woman. Not only were they shared, but they were shared with an enthusiasm that surprised you. These had been dark times, but together you had shared a moment of cleansing light.

A shame, then, that you have to leave, to travel far and remain there for an unknown stretch of time. Life, you think as you stare up at the darkened ceiling, is unfair.

“Ira?” Howa's voice, soft and blurry with sleep, gently stirs the night air. There is the whisper of sheets as she rolls over, no doubt searching the other half of her bed for you. A fruitless search, of course – you've been sitting a distance away for some time, haunted by a lack of sleep and a surplus of uncertainty.

Was this a mistake, you ask yourself softly, a moment of weakness? On the road, a soft heart can be more of a vulnerability than a strength. Where you're going, you can afford neither weakness nor vulnerability – you'll need to be hard, as cold and focussed as you've ever been. Now though, could you really manage that?

When the time comes, you think solemnly as Howa stirs again, that's when you'll really see. Maybe you'll fight all the harder with something precious to return to, someone else to share a future with. It's something you never really had before – or perhaps you just didn't realise what you had. Retirement was never something you considered much until now, and it certainly wasn't something you had been looking forwards to. It would be easy really, just settle down and devote your life to one of the gods. Like Garl, or Maab over in Selene's temple. It could work, you murmur to yourself, not aware that you had spoken aloud until Howa responds.

“Ira?” she repeats, mumbling and drowsy, “Did you say something?”

You could hold your tongue, you realise, and she'd just lapse back into slumber. In the morning, she'd pass it off as a dream – if she remembered it at all.

Hi /tg/ some of you may or may not remember that a few months back there where a space station quest set in the 40k universe. Well im back, and hopefully we can have some fun. So let's begin shall we:

You are the governor of the newly built space station "Dawn Station". It is currently approximately only 1½ kilometer size, but has room to grow even further. Dawn station is also the home to 100.000 emperor worshipping souls.

>50.000 of them are regular civilians. Each thousand of them will manufacture 1 supply each turn. So far you get +50 per turn

>25.000 are workers. For each thousand of them you will get +1 added to rolls regarding building stuff.

>The last 25.000 are your defensive force. They will man the cannons and repel boarders. They work much like the workers in regards to dice rolls.

Dawn station is also supplied with the following weapons:
>3 macro cannon batteries
>1 small missile bay
>50 close range flak cannons.

Dawn station is also supplied with 250 supplies and +50 more each turn.

Before we start you Anons will need to vote for what segmentum Dawn Station is located in:
>Segmentum Solar (galactic center)
>Segmentum Ultima (east)
>Segmentum Tempestus (south)
>Segmentum Obscurus (north)
>Segmentum Pacificus (west)

The sector you choose will change some of the events and interactions you will face. Have fun guys...

Magnus referred to it as a catch-all for Chaos (which he was strangely unaware of). He dove deep into the Warp to try to gain knowledge, and routinely interacted with Tzeentch (whom Magnus believed was some Warp-spirit).

The Interex also thought of Chaos as a omni-direcitonal force of destruction.

Again, the fluff is highly inconsistent and doesn't explain jack shit. Go figure.

Experiment Logs

=Log 1=
Date 0: I've finally managed to get this new Material Plane stable. I could have just thrown up a standard version, but I wanted to incorporate some additional features. For instance, I can control how fast time passes relative to existence as a whole. I've got an alarm set up to inform me if life develops anywhere (not likely without active interference). Most important are a series of wards to keep interlopers out. I'm currently speeding up time by several trillion times, and waiting for something interesting to show up.

Log 2
Date 11,342,051,099: Surprisingly, the experiment is forming into orderly structures even without my assistance. Not only on the large scale of galaxies and stars, but on the small scale of chemicals. I've noted some really quite complex collections of chemicals that are capable of self-replication and chemical synthesis. This experiment looks to be getting really interesting.

=Log 3=
Date 13,541,555,892: It's amazing how far life has developed from those first basic packages of proteins and genetic material. There are practically uncountable varieties of lifeforms now, and I didn't do a single thing to stimulate this! They adapted and diverged entirely on their own, completely shattering the old dogma that true life must be created by a god. Even if they can't get any use out of them due to magic not being active in this test world, these lifeforms are indeed developing basic rudimentary souls. I wonder if I may soon see a civilization arise?

=Log 4=
Date 13,698,901,234: There was another mass-extinction event a few dozen million years ago, but I'm not too upset given the most recent developments. Several intelligent species have sprung up, including Pattern 1 (Elves), Pattern 4 (Dwarves), Pattern 5 (Humans), and Pattern 7 (Orcs). They've already begun the process of creating civilizations, though Pattern 1 isn't doing as well as they normally would without magic. I will admit to being somewhat surprised at how well these races match up with those outside, but it could just be an anomaly.

=Log 5=
Date 13,698,908,990: NO NO NO! I should have known something was up when those 'standard' lifeforms began appearing, but I was too absorbed in the experiment to check for outside interference. Those blasted greedy pantheons just HAD to seize the opportunity to get a new worshiper base, and their actions have contaminated the experiment beyond all hope of salvage! It wasn't their own faiths that were the problem, no it was that they helped draw the attention of something else entirely.

A particularly ambitious demon lord took notice of all the unprocessed souls I foolishly left floating around in the ether of this Plane, and decided to aggressively acquire them. They formed a coalition and managed to punch several portals through to this world, introducing magic in the process. I've decided to start over, but I can't bring myself to simply abandon these beings to the nonexistent mercies of the Abyss. Therefore I have flooded the public integrated information network constructed by Patterns 4, 5, and 7 with information on how to produce magical weapons that can actually slay demons permanently. I have also sent a message explaining the experimental nature of their universe and the fact that its intended purpose has been almost completely destroyed. I hope they can forgive me.

Hey /tg/,

I've been on a bit of a norse mythology craze lately, reading up on the shenanigans of Thor (that crossdressing) and realising that half the dwarves in the Hobbit are total ripoffs*. Now, I'm not just a sucker for norse mythology, but mythology in general. It has a tendency to be crazier and feel far more genuine than regular fantasy settings (gee I wonder why).

Now, what I'm wondering is; are there any solid settings entirely based on a specific mythology? Norse, greek, egyptian, you name it.

The only one that directly comes to my mind is Fate of the Norns: Ragnarock. It is based directly on Norse mythology.
I'm sure there are many others that are based or at least heavily inspired by norse mythology. Can't think of any other mythologys at the moment.

You should be able to find FotN in archived pdf threads. I would search but I don't know the successor of archive.moe

I wish I knew.

There are a lot of options, but in my experience they fall into one of two categories- either way too crunchy, getting lost in ridiculous levels of detail which I'm sure some people love, but makes it unworkable for me and the groups I play with.

Alternatively, they're way too rules light, abstracting everything in the broadest sense to the point the game lacks any feeling of impact.

I'd love to see a game properly strike the balance between detail without sacrificing distinction, but that's an underdeveloped area of game design. Pretty much only Legends of the Wulin and D&D 4e really occupy it.
