What would happen if you used more than one system at a time to run a game?
>>46311844
It'd be a confusing mess.
Also, how?
>>46311844
Provided you only chain together fairly light systems and you have sheets for each system I could see it working. Like a mech game played with one system while you're in a mech and another while you're out of the mech.
>>46312026
But that's only using one system at a time.

Hey, Ozark here. I'm quickly running this quest to get better at writing/QMing. This is my first quest, so don't hold back on the criticism. And yes I know it's an original chapter but don't worry I'm not gonna Ultrasmurf them.
* * * * * * *
Smoke. Ruins. Ashes of a past long gone. They say that long ago, ancients of great power resided on this planet, that they could bend reality with their will and that one day... they would rule the stars.
But this age is long gone and only war remains. Two factions are opposed: the Imperial Guard, steadfast defenders of the Imperium; and the Orks, brutal warriors who only live for carnage.
The Imperials are from a volcanic planet called Hellion Five and they are usually sent against the troups of Chaos. However, on their way to their next destination, they had to stop in order to repair the main ship, which had been damaged by it's stay in the Warp.
Exiting the chaotic realm, they found out that the Greenskins had managed to secure footing on a nearby planet. Deciding that a quick detour wouldn't delay them too much, Lord General Jerasak Avernus led himself the assault on the hated enemy.
Right this moment, only splinters of the Orks remain and they are being disposed of.
In accordance with their usual strategy, the Reapers permeated the planet with a thick cloud of nervegas, ashes, and holy incense. With a fog this thick, they only need to wait until their enemies drop like flies... At least, if everything goes right...
* * * * * * *
Out of the fog, a silhouette slowly starts to take shape. Obviously an imperial soldier, the mask and the smoke makes it hard to see anything else...
"Halt!" says one of the sentry on post. "Who goes there?"

I get that Warhammer 40K is just everything cool in sci-fi during the 1980s. But what's the ripoff of Predator, Star Trek, and Ghostbusters?
>>46309806
Lictors are predator.
And as for the rest GW didn't go through a checklist of every pop culture sci-fi thing to make sure they referenced everything.
>>46309806
Tyranid Lictors and Eldar Striking Scorpions can take on Predator influences, but it depends on the writer. Star Trek showed up as that Interex thing in the Horus Heresy, or so it seems. Ghostbusters haven't really shown up anywhere, though you could make a case for Ordo Malleus in the worst way.
>>46309806
>everything cool in sci-fi during the 1980s
Hardly.
My friends and I are pen and paper roleplaying noobs, and we'd like to try roleplaying in a sci-fi setting. Can someone recommend a nice, simple system to use that's good for beginners? We once tried playing dnd 3.5 but we found ourselves getting bogged down reading rules for a lot of things and people lost interest pretty quickly.
Mongoose traveller
>>46309800
thanks, I'll check it out
>>46309753
For beginners, try the Fate settings, there are quite a few. I'd look at Diaspora and Bulldogs! But just bare bones Fate Accelerated can go a long way already. And nothing is simpler, as long as you haven't got stuck in DnD or Gurps already. Because it's all meta rules.
To just test out a group or fill a quick night definitely play a one shot of Lasers & Feelings.
Lady Blackbird could be interesting. It's a handful of short scenarios that can be played many times. They never go the same way twice.
DnD in space: Traveller
Does ANYTHING badly: Gurps (still a great resource)
So bad it hurts: 40k
so forget those.
The FFG Star Wars RPGs seem to be working. A bit gimmicky but alright: Edge of the Empire for smugglers, Age of Rebellion for rebels, Force and Destiny for padawans.
/tg/ my character has been speaking with and doing favors for a demon for a little while now. Said character may only be a naive druid, but I want him to try and appeal to the lighter side of the being's nature.
Tell us more about this demon and it's characterization.
Is there any distinct room for a lighter side to this demon? Does it have a theme or vulnerability that can be played up to? Is it expressly not a very nice devil or has it not asked you do anything especially nasty yet? How does it regard mortals? Is it curious and relatively easy going in it's dealings with your druid or is it disdainful and haughty?
>>46308271
There isn't too much to tell. And I'm not sure if I can classify it as a textbook demon.
It spends most of its time asking for offerings, (preferably living matter, nothing inorganic or magic-based) and gives me items for my work every now and again.
It gets mad when you say one thing and do another, and seems to adhere to some code of compensation (or it could be it just wants to keep me engaged)
It has no physical form that I can see, but dwells inside a box that I carry around.
It does love to eat living things most. It doesn't even ask me for anything specific, just offerings.
I haven't asked about its opinion of mortals, but I plan to have a "heart to heart" with it soon.

Sell your soul to it.
You are Sireyi Valyenya, paladin, goddess, Queen of the nation of Oreia.
“Mama, Mama up!” demands Salicia, seeing Neyma in your arms and with Fulima off with Vivi she doesn't want to be left out.
You bend down and pick her up, despite the being so big you wonder how you can fit through doors.
“You know” says Sofia casually “you never really hear about the unexpected benefits of having magical strength – most women would have groaned a lot doing that.”
You raise an eyebrow at Sofia “Any time you want to help...” you say. You have one child on either hip and you're days away from having another three to look after.
Your family is sat around in the grounds of the Barony: the sun is shining down on you all. Viviken is chasing Fulima through the trees and Jal is trying to teach Milerna how to pick pockets.
“But why Mama Jal?” asks Milerna “why not just ask them to show me what they've got?”
“Because they could say no Mili” says Jal.
“But when I'm a palading they'll have to do as I ask or that means they're bad” says Mili “so why...”
You tune out Jal explaining the morality of stealing. It's a nice afternoon and you don't want to spoil it.
“Ok, come here child” Sofia takes Neyma off you, and the two of you wander around the grounds together talking, holding a daughter apiece.
So did you hear the news?” Sofia says casually.
“What news?” you counter, as Salicia demands you hand her a brightly-coloured flower that has caught her attention.
Sofia just gives you a raised eyebrow.
“Yes I heard” you say “I'm the reason it took them so long. I mean if they send a fleet of ships to invade what did they think was going to happen?”
Sofia doesn't ask how many, you can feel her not asking how many ships the storms you conjured sank.
“But now it's with them?” ventures Sofia.
“Yeah” you sigh “and it pulled apart any storm I could summon. They'll be landing on the Eskian coastline in a matter of weeks.”
“What do the Eskians think of that?” asks Sofia “I mean, there was talk of them going over to the Lord of Life.”
“There was” you say “and a few of them might still turn but Kalti and the Lord of Life apparently have history – pretty bad history according to Yerra. Eskia will fight them.”
“And the rest?” Sofia says “I mean you and the Azure Empress expanding your borders, you sweeping through the Hells looking for more succubi – neither was popular.”
“I spent a great deal of time with the rulers of various nations” you say “and the Oreian diplomatic corps has been a great help. I don't think I've changed anyone's feelings on the matter but they all understand the necessity of what I did. More succubi means more soldiers, and a pacified tribal lands means no orcs and beastmen marching for the Lord of Life.”
“Pacified?” Sofia asks “Between the two of you you only control what, a third of the Tribal Lands?”
“About that” you say “but we've both made sure that the rest of the tribes are fractious and disunited. Yes a few thousand may join the Lord of Life but there are no powerful warchiefs except those who owe fealty to the Azure Empress. Really if we had a few more years we'd just conquer the whole place and be done with it.”
“If you do, you know I'll help however I can” comments Sofia, shifting Neyma from one hip to another “I'm nothing if not generous – I let you use my portal network after all.”
You snort “and charged for every item that came through them, darling wife.”
“Business is business” she says demurely.
You feel a kick in your midsection and you rub your hand on your belly in an absent minded way.
Sofia gives you a knowing look “Soon huh?”
“Very” you agree “certainly long before we have to go to war.”
“And will Yerra's plan work?” She asks, suddenly serious.
“I have no doubt he can send the Lord of Life to another plane and trap it there” you say “But...Yerra has kept a lot of what he's doing secret but I know it'll rely upon the Lord of Life walking in to the trap – and it must have considered we'd try to beat it some way. So maybe its too confident, or it expects to spot whatever we try and avoid it.”
“What would you do if we lost?” Sofia asks you sombrely.
>We'll beat the Lord of Life
>If we can't beat it, we'll take our family to another plane
>If we lose, we go down fighting
>I don't know
>Other (?)

You're Brin Wabien, and since 10 hours ago, you're 18 years old. However, you're not happy because of that, rather, because you finally stood up and did something yourself.
You're the only child and son in your family, your parents keep it a secret as to who they are, but you know that your father was, or is involved with politics. And once you found out, it no longer was surprising to see that you got what you asked for, even if it was expensive. So the reason as to why you live on the outskirts of the town, beyond the defensive walls, is beyond your comprehension. Your family can easily afford a better house to live in, so why live in such basic house? Nevertheless, you never questioned them. They often got mad and sad when you did something they told you not to, so you try not to do anything that would upset them. Up until now.
"Hey pretty face!"
You could recognize this voice anywhere, it's Tod. He's also the only one to call you like this for reasons incomprehensible for you. He is also your only friend, you had little to no social encounters due to your parents being strict.
"Happy birthday! You decided where to get smashed at?"
He also failed a year, so he's one year older than you.

I can't be the only one that thinks this.
The good news: Wren's awake
The bad news: She sort of maybe just a little bit wants to kill you.
So it's a reasonable thought. After all, you came rushing into the room to find her in the middle of raiding your wardrobe that wasn't pink, covered in blood, with a dinner knife and wend to hug her.
Which is why she (somehow) tossed you through your open window. And why right now, you are considering your life decisions and you can hear your sister guffawing from the Kitchen
You get up and dust yourself off just as you hear your window slam shut, and our of the corner of your eye, catch the blinds pulled taut. So yeah. Wren might be in panic mode, your sister spotted you get thrown by someone with the total muscle mass of a trout, and your
dinner knife needs replacing.
Fortunately, no one else was around to see you. You get up and dust off...
> Call out to Wren
>Go back inside, She need's space, and to get changed
>Stay out here. This day's been tiring, and the sun is just warm enough. You weren't too hungry anyway.
I'm tired, mostly because I just woke up half an hour ago, and started writing immediately. Lemme get coffee, breakfast, a few guardsmen for snac-I mean pistachios for snacks and then get back to you. 30 mins to vote call for that reason.

Hey guys, never came to this board but i have a question about mtg and /b's useless. I've been on hiatus from magic due to work and I'm finally stable enough again to play. But, I've always has a haphazard time getting back into whenever i stop. Do you know a forum or place I can go that explains the current metagames and whatnot well to returning players? And, if yall have any advice, I'm looking to spend no more than 400 bucks on a modern deck that i will build up in the future. I know moderns expensive but I'd rather wait til i get out of college to waste money on standard. Thanks
400 dollars upfront, then i can add to it

FAQ:
>What the fuck is this?
Somewhat a campaign of crack-infused free-form roleplay in the grim darkness of the far future.
>When do you guys make these threads?
Usually mondays at 2PM GMT, but they sometimes extend to Tuesdays if we got caught in the middle of something when the thread died and it was too late to make another one the same day.
>Can I join in?
Sure, just think of a character and have fun, you can find most info in 1d4chan albeit it's ussually a little bit out of date in comparison to where the threads are.
>Is there any requirement in character creation.
Not really, we've had Xeno infiltrators, Chaos infiltrators, Villains, Heroes, Normal Guardsmen, Crazed Guardsmen, Assassins, Psykers, Space Marines, Inquisitors, Squats... just think whathever and join the fun.
>Is it allowed to have more than a single character?
Yes as long as you don't use it to powerplay.
>So how you guys do the playan'?
We tend to use spoilers for OOC chat, but nothing is set in stone.
We tend to use greentexts for describing a character's actions, but again nothing is set in stone.
Use d20s for combat checks and d100s for other things you want to roll, higher Is better.
It's important to know that the regiment is now in the employ of a radical Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, with influence from an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor and under the watch of an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor. Yes we've been through a lot of shit.
I stabbed a guy, pity... he was a very pretty man.

Nothing new to report on my end... Though I still feel dizzy.
>The Ork is asleep recovering from his wounds he may be out of action for some time.
Starting up a new game of D&D, we all ended up rolling a bunch of greediest and most self-centered murderhobos that ever went around - by tossing away the "murder" part. Why would you kill all those dungeon dwellers when you could get some additional profit by capturing them and selling them off as pets and slaves?
Now we want to know how to capture everything. Sure, shit like rats and goblins are simple enough, but what about slimes or molds, or ghosts and zombies, or gargoyles or gorgons, or all the even weirder shit that our DM (who finds the concept hilarious btw) is going to throw at us sooner or later? How do we capture all of those? How do we get out of a dungeon hauling up ghosts and succubi and gelatinous cubes and their ilk? Any good thoughts on how to best beat up the inevitable boss monster to near-death without actually killing them? Where's the market for all these suckers? And how can we expect the economy and the world around us to change to accommodate all this bullshit?
Each question someone at the table throws at the rest of us complicates matters, yet intrigues us and makes us all the more invested in doing this. We decided it couldn't hurt to hear whether /tg/'s got some good ideas to throw at our direction, too. Would be much appreciated.
>>46305940
sounds like a fun concept OP.
as for how the economy adapts I think it would be best to play this in a setting were ''monster slavers'' are already a thing, this way all the infrastructure of selling creatures and getting jobs is already in place.
for all the speciality monster captures aybe look with your DM for some specialised abjuration magic(items) such as a spell or chain that makes a ghost corporeal for some time or freezes a slime solid ready to be sold
The gelatinous cubes can probably be frozen. If you cut off a horse's dick, put it on a stick and you can lure the succubi out of the dungeon.
Undead should be trivial. If you don't have an evil cleric to mind-control them, you should have a wizard to cast Control Undead.
Who to sell the stuff to? Most of the harmless critters can be handed to random guys who're rich enough to pay for them. The military might also be interested in a variety of monsters to train the troops with, and finally there's always your evil overlords who're always happy to take the beasts off of you.
But you see, you don't actually have to sell them. After you've defeated the residents of a dungeon you can sell the owner a protection racket. She'll need her minions to collect the money to pay you with, and if she's short on cash you can bully her and poke her inappropriately until she cries and begs for mercy.
>>46306233
If monster slavers aren't a thing already, they will soon be as you start to make gold.
