You and Desiderius went back to the shop, where Otto walked in. You asked him about the smuggler rumours. His response told you enough, and he left somewhat angrily. After the Otto confrontation, Desiderius mentioned that he was going to look for some blacksmiths to buy weapons from. You decided to go to Father Federico to pick up Edward, and maybe have a conversation with the priest. Surprisingly, Father Federico pledged himself to your cause of toppling the Orsani family. Thanks to William, you now also know where Edward is from, and who he is.
>7th of August, 1095
Your day starts off as any other, although your mind is a lot busier. You’ve always had the tendency to think in webs, and currently, you were making a web with everything and anything related to the Orsani family. They traded in arms and tools, which you were just getting started in. To take them over would not only solidify you as a patrician, but it would skyrocket your profits. Ofcourse, there were still other families trading in arms & tools.
After breakfast, you send Edward off to Father Federico. Today was going to be eventful, that much you anticipated. There were a couple of places you absolutely had to visit; the shop and warehouse. However, if you were going to start with the takeover today, you’d also need to commission banners, flags and a new surcoat for William. You’d need to commission a coat of arms, as well. A shave wouldn’t be bad either, but that could wait for a while.
Opening the door to your little house, you glance back at the stone structure. If only you had a mansion again.

What's the critical failure with the most sever consequences you've ever experienced in any tabletop roleplaying game?
>>46329982
Well one of my players (a lvl 6 figther) got killed by a single ghoul since he got a nat 1 on the save against paralysis and proceeded to get coup-de-graced by said ghoul for an instant kill ( he botched the save against that aswell)
Player crit failed a reflex save (-1 mod and rolled a 1) and fell into the pit trap. The party tried to get him out in the middle of combat and suffered a few serious attacks of opportunity and died shortly after. The TPK really sucked but we made new characters and played as people in an adjacent country, eventually coming upon the place where our other PCs died.
An attempt to land a plane on an aircraft carrier in a GURPS game focusing on air combat. First was a failure by five degrees. DM proceed to let me try and bring the plane up to try another pass, critical failure on that one resulted in death by ball of fire.
What are some must-reads for fa/tg/uys? I mean, besides LoTR, Neuromancer, and other staples. Any more obscure things you dudes could recommend?
Also general /tg/ literature thread.
You can take the recommendations in the 5e Player's handbook without regret, since they're all Fantasy staples that form a pretty decent base for a "required" reading list.
If you haven't read the Dying Earth series and the Lyonesse Trilogy, and just about anything else from Jack Vance you can get your hands on, do so now.
Zelazny should also be on everyone's shelf. Lord of Light deserves a special mention, as does the Corwin series of the Chronicles of Amber.
Fritz Leiber's Swords series, Howard's Conan books, and Moorcocks's Elric saga are all fundamental works that can be described as essentials.
These are really the basics, but literally any good book can be scoured for ideas. Fleming's Bond novels are fantastic adventure stories, and it's also essential to have a background in mythology and history, which makes textbooks sometimes dry but rather useful reading.

Why do we hate it again?
I don't hate it. I'm just not that into shonen serious-drama-about-powerlevels-stuff.
Mostly for being unbalanced and having wonky scaling.
"We" don't. Most of /tg/ sees it in either a neutral or positive light.
There are, however, three dedicated shitposters who get triggered whenever it gets mentioned, because it's too popular for their tastes.

Another day, another strange situation straight out of a video game. Or rather straight IN a video game...
The Cat's Sprite Form dangles a finger over our perfectly square body. "Oh my..." She muses curiously. "Which side do you talk out of?" She says poking at our sides.
We honestly don't know.
"Hey cut it out. I'm sensitive about my angles." We joke. "You don't know how hard I have to work to keep this svelte quadrilateral shape!"
"Pretty confident for a little pixel that was just a duck-dragon's lunch." She says with a wry grin spreading over her ebony face. The light of the digital world glows strangely on the edged lines of face. Its a very flat and very angular face like a model form a 90's video game.
Her smirk broadens to a wide, sharp-tooth filled smile. Her teeth are perfect and sharp like steel knives. "I swear. You're like some sort of stupid kitten that keeps falling down and tripping over itself and yet still thinks it can hunt on its own, you know that?"
We're going to have to school her in a VR fight later. For the sake of our pride.
"Well there's the door." The Cat motions again to a glowing pixel a few yards off. "Run back to your bird. She's worried about you. I have prey to hunt."
SAY/DO?
DO WE STAY OR DO WE PUNCH OUT?

Where did the idea of wizards using staffs even come from? Moses? Did Merlin use a staff? Sure wisemen and shit had them but at what point were staff carrying old men associated specifically with wizards and magic?
>>46391619
Probably Odin, which inspired Gandalf, which inspired the arhcetypical D&D wizard.
>>46391619
I always thought of staffs as being giant wands and seeing as you see old men with walking sticks, it was a no brainer that the magical staff came into being for wizards.

A special state of emergency has been declared today at 12:30. The civilian evacuation process is underway. Roughly 65% of the population has safely reached their designated district shelter.
All hands to battle stations! This is not a drill, I repeat: this is not a drill.
Ah Major, you're finally here.
The third angel has arrived. Our reports indicate that the target is steadily advancing through RURAL AREA 01. It is roughly 20 miles away from HQ.
Both of our units have already been deployed.
[Computer Technician] We have our first image of the Angel! She looks scary...

How plausible would it be for Sylvanas, with her vanilla-era personality, to become the new Lich King instead of Bolvar? For the purpose of releasing the saner undead from Scourge control.
It's a plot point I keep mulling over, but I'm not sure what I'd have to adjust about the plotline to make it reasonable.Offing the dreadlord is probably step 1.
>>46389931
she would have to wear the crown instead of arthas.
