The Dark Souls board game looks really fun
>>46789089
brilliant, now i can get fucked by the dice even harder
>>46789089
I really like how the boss AI is not reshuffled every time so that it encourages you to memorize the pattern. I also liked how it showed that rushing in to do a shitton of damage will fuck you over quickly. I also liked how facing sides of the boss left vulnerable gives bonus damage
Those dice are unforgiving though. It looks like the blue dice only go up to two, while the red dice go up to three.
>>46789089
They're scraping the bottom of the barrel with those stretch goal already tho
Started out with new classes, bosses, now it's barrels and a bonfire.

Likewise.
So, are we going to get a Jump Rain this time?
You're a Cave Hydra, big and mighty. Right now, you've found yourself in a rather peculiar situation involving two humans, an army and a dire Steppe Wolf and preparations for a... Siege.
"Anyway. What is your name, cub?" Sonya asks. The massively scarred canine slowly walking over to your resting spot, sniffing out your provisions and licking her lips, making you drag the cart a bit closer to yourself. That brings giggles to the two humans who wanted to get a bit closer to you, the short haired blonde female muttering something to the bigger male with black hair slicked back. Although he looks perpetually angry, he seems to have a sense of humor of some kind.
But returning to a bit more pressing matters at your claws, you focus back onto Sonya, she's still looking up at you, idly waiting for your response. For someone who leads the beasts in this 'army', she seems to have a rather carefree attitude, but you cannot deny her pressing aura of command.
>"I'm Horg, left me is Hisk and right me is Harbenk. Who are these people?" Tell the truth.
>"I have no name. Who are these people?" Lie.

If nothing else, you've learned one thing today – you despise leeches.
You're not talking about the kind of parasitic nobility that you will soon be rubbing shoulders with at Kurasu's undeserved party, but actual leeches. Fat, black slugs that cling and suck at anyone who so much as sets foot in their territory. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem – you could just stay out of their territory, after all. Unfortunately, that isn't always an option. Like, say, if you need to fish a bloated, stinking body from the stagnant waters of an underground lake.
You're not bitter. Not even a little bit.
Still, it might be dirty work, but it's work that needs to be done. If allowed to fester on sacred ground, human remains can cause a god to become cruel and spiteful – especially if the body belonged to a murder victim. You don't know for sure if that was the case or not, and only Tawn could say for certain.
It's about time, you figure, that you had a few words with him.
>>46833092
As you flick away the last of the leeches – still fat and smug with the blood it took from you – you turn your attention to the body. An unknowable length of time spent floating face down in the dark waters here has done it no favours, leaving it almost as dark and bloated as the leeches themselves, but you force yourself to consider it closely. You came down here on a rope, and that same cord might just serve as a harness to lift the body up. As plans go, you're yet to think of a better one.
With the loose end of the rope tied tightly around the body's torso, looped under the armpits, you give it an experimental tug. Good enough, you mutter as you try not to imagine the body tearing, giving way beneath the cutting rope. You might help dragging it up, a little extra muscle, but that's something you'll deal with later. One or two of the trapped soldiers would suffice – it might be a change for them, doing some hard work for once.
Taking the rope in hand, you walk yourself up the rough cavern wall until you reach, once more, smooth and worked stone. Grunting out one last breathless curse, you haul your weary body up and into cell 21 once more. You're about to start dragging the cadaver up after you when you pause, listening to the air. You're not alone. Cautiously prowling out of the cell, you find Tawn leaning against the railings, looking out over the rest of the prison.
“Told you not to come up here,” he says quietly, forming his words very carefully, “Guess you saw, then.”
That's right, you reply, you saw. That was Rin's brother down there, wasn't it?
“The other anarchist,” Tawn nods, “You know what happened down there, don't you? You can guess, at least.”
>It doesn't matter. You did what you had to do
>You murdered him, is that it?

Why does Wizards make bad cards?
>>46825156
Freedom from negative consequences? They can always just load a set with mythic (fucking mythic) lands.
limited
it makes no sense because limited is also fun when they print good cards, but that's their reason.
The lower the power disparity between the high and low end, the lower the price of the top-end cards. Bad cards exist to dilute the cardpool.

Everyone welcome.
FAQ:
Q - What is Towergirls?
A /tg/ creation. Read more here.
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Tower_Girls
Q - How do I play?
A - It's a CYOA, there are no established mechanics for the rescue. All the pages to the game are in the imgur album linked in resources.
Q - Why aren't/are we we working on; Gen V/Knights/combat mechanics/etc.
A - No. We recognize that spreading out our efforts is what originally killed the project. Accordingly, we're focusing on just one thing at a time and finishing them out.
Q - Hey, can we make a pricness about X fetish?
A - It generally comes down to what people like. Propose the idea and see if others want it.
Q - Is there a map/unified setting?
A - Nope. Though proposals have been made, nothing concrete has been created.
Q - Can I post fanart/fanfiction here?
A - Go right on ahead, just make sure it's within the global rules.

What would a reverse gnosticism be like?
The material world is good and the spiritual is evil?
Reason I'm asking is that I'm trying to make an interesting religion for the civilized (and technologically superior) empire that is just about to show up on the borders of the PC's land.
they would probably be surprisingly peaceful, or at least merciful, if they are good adherents to their fate.
After all, if the spiritual is evil, you don't want t osend people back there, do you?
Make more babies, get their spirit into the material world!
>>46821201
when you say "gnosticism" you're referring to dozens of idiosyncratic systems and cults spanning from just before the time of Christ to the Manicheans in the seventh century, and even to the modern day Mandeans. Valentians, Cathars, and even the followers of Simon Magus are all considered "Gnostic". Soooo it kind of depends on what variety of Gnosticism you mean, exactly.
Really, the only thing consistent among Gnostics is an extreme penchant for elitism and seclusion.
A lot of the Gnostics who opposed the Church Father proposed that the *true* God was above understanding, immortal and infinite and made purely of light(also, in some teachings, hermaphroditic); also popular was the idea that the Old Testament God was a usurper and basically a minor petty being, the Demiurge.
Gnostic systems are, of course, notoriously inconsistent.
If you want a great, but heavy, book on the subject, read Gnosis by Kurt Rudolph.
The villains in my setting are basically extremist Gnostics who want to destroy the entire physical universe and everyone in it
After eons upon eons another world has finally stabilized and evolved enough to hose sentient life. A world full of magic and creatures such as Dragons, demons, angels, and more. The vast majority of life is not sentient, running merely on instinct and some learned behavior, but now small tribes of creatures are beginning to form, a good bit more intellectual than the savage monsters of the world. One of these tribes is yours, so fill in the sheet below and lets get started.

Do you think our civilization would be mature enough to handle a sudden emergence of magic, or would it quickly lead to our downfall?
Assume all humans gain magical potential and that mana is naturally produced by the body.

Every major city would burn down overnight.
I know for a fact that if you gave everybody the ability to throw fireballs, a sizable chunk of them WILL do so at the earliest opportunity.
And it's much easier for a dozen morons to start a bunch of fires than it is for a bunch of freshly-empowered firefighters to figure out how to put a fire OUT with magic.

You have to justify your setting in non-megadungeon campaigns.
You have to justify your settings in campaigns in general.
You have to justify your setting/megadungeon in megadungeon campaigns.

and when they can be reprinted, they aren't and if they are, they are rare shifted from UC>R R>M so that the prices don't change anyway.
Who do they expect is going to spend that sort of money?
What about the people still working at McDonalds that love the game, eventually it will simply become too expensive, and they will lose interest and quit.
Soon the game we all love will become a hobby for only those with the biggest wallets.
all of this because wizards has been protecting the investment fags.
Good thing they have a new president at wizards, then again, shifting management usually isn't a good sign to begin with.
Oh, and I haven't even fucking mentioned the fakes being printed that are slowly nearing perfection, or the amount of stealing that goes on, just so people can actually play, or the price gouging at LGS.
I'm not the only one bitching about prices either, just take a look at some of these videos.

>>46802220
They currently are mostly old-canon, but as nuCanon has rolled in they have adopted that.
The "guide to the galaxy" part is actually pretty solid, telling you what the planets do and stuff. While they are sparse if you are running post-ROTJ stuff, they do serve very admirably for 4-6. The game setting primarily assumes you are in post-Yavin Death Star times, but before the Emperor's death. Realistically you could run it at ANY time, as they give stats for stuff you need. B1 battle droids are in it, as are stormies if you wanted to run them as... well B1 battle droids and clone troopers.
You could easily substitute most Dark Jedi for an inquisitor if you wanted to do that. The inquisitors as they are stat wise are more in-line with old EU inquisitors rather than fodder like they are in season 2 Rebels. Players are expected to have pretty severe trouble with them, especially at low levels. A fun thing to do, if you plan on having inquisitors, scale it back stat wise (adversary 1 instead of say 3) and have them "build up" with the party, represented by training between their failures to capture/kill the party. This makes for a good repeat BBEG that also has a strong motive for the players to get invested in the story.
Well, this is it lads, another quest thread. With Warcraft. the lads over at the RPG discussion center had a few novel ideas about setting the game around the end of the second war or before the third war revolving around the bastard child of the Alliance: Alterac. In this story we take the role of a poor cleric who has been forced into the role of being a patsy while his kingdom is dismantled(tm). Will he make alterac Rise again? Will he die
>You are Anlec Falconcrest. Third son of Baron Falconcrest and far removed from the succession line of you spent an idyllic time in the valleys of alterac before being sent away from home, serving as a lay brother in the brotherhood of the horse in Stormwind.
>you were there when the kingdom of stormwind was tormented by the green skinned demons from the dark portal and witnessed stunning acts of brutality and bravery. All that was for naught as the wizard Medivh betrayed his race.
>You were part of the strike force that entered the tower of Karhazan to slay the mage and were among the last to leave the shores of Stormwind as the city burned.
>Now that long war is finally over. The Expedition has left for the orcish homeworld and has sealed the portal from the other side. There will be no way back for them. They are doomed to death or worse, but their memories shall live on forever.
>You were prevented from joining the expedition and seeing the war to it's end. Treachery most foul has been committed by your countrymen and their fate - and yours- lies in the balance. Baron Perenolde has absconded and several noble houses have either followed him or have been exiled. Only your stellar conduct throughout the war has kept from being dispossessed.
>>46778732
>you have been granted the lordship of the ancient town of Strombrad. Situated at center of the kingdom between the fork that divides the northern and southern mountain passes, and sitting between the Capital and the farmland on the shores of Lake Lordemere, it has always been an important part of the roadways in Alterac. The merchants were well to do and brought the traders brought coin in to the ancient hillfort guarding the town.
>Now however the fort is a blackened ruin that is being covered up by snow and there is hardly any trade to speak of. Despite what Uther the Lightbringer might say, the Kingdom of Alterac is now in ashes.
> True, you never spent too much time here. The fondest memories of the place that you have are those of the apples you loved picking from the orchards of your Lord Father's manor. Now he and your eldest brother are dead and your second brother is absconding, being hunted as criminals and traitors by the alliance at large.
>Yet at the end of the day, you always will remain a son of alterac. You never forgot it during your time as a knight of Stormwind, and they never let you forget it after the betrayal of Alterac.
>It falls to you to pick up the pieces. Even now the vultures circle overhead the dying eagle of your nation. You have heard the rumblings. King Thoras Trollbane wants the the kingdom dismantled, and subsumed into Stromgarde and Lordaeron. King Genn Greymane wants to nominate his ward Isiden Perenolde as the king of Alterac and the kingdom filled with Gilnean patsies. Can you fight the dire forces assailed against you? Can you make the Eagle of your forefathers rise again?
And with that rather lengthy intro, lets get down to the nuts and bolts.
>>46779315
so I guess the trick will be to restore the place to prosperity while convincing Arathor and those Perenolde upstarts that each other is bigger threat than we are...?
I mean war is over, Orcs have been neutralized, peace has returned. What's the worst that could happen?
>>46779315
So for the basic holdings, I will be using the ASOIAF custom house holding thing. Alterac is modeled on the Mountains of the moon because they serve a similar geographical hurdle and a roughly similiar political structure. Instead of the mountain clans stirring shit up, we will have orc stragglers, ogre holdouts and the angry nobility and the retainers stirring shit up and harassing our smallfolk.
>Defense: 30 - Mediocre with great natural terrain but nearly no fortifications
Alterac has always been a defensible location. It is what allowed the Eagle to fly above the mountains when your land was surrounded by the more powerful lordaeron, Stromgarde and the City state of Dalaran. However, the betrayal has met with swift reprisal. The castles and towers are now in ruins or garrisoned by Stromgarde or Lordaeronian soldiers and they are not sympathetic to your cause. Once the land is deemed pacified they will surely draw down and return home. Until then, you are not allowed to build anything more than low stone walls to protect your people.
>Lands: 10 - A speck of Land, no larger than a single town.
You have been granted the town of Strombrad- or as it is now being called - Strahnbrad as a reward for services rendered. While you feel you could have been given more important holdings, the towns' relatively important position on the Alteraci Royal Road holds the seed of power if you can use it.
>>46779632
there is a surprisingly large amount of stuff lurking in the background that we have to deal with since Alterac is collapsing in upon itself.
