Maybe my Elegen/tg/entlemen can help me out here.

I am looking for a LARGE, sepia-toned fantasy map. When i say large, I mean MASSIVE. It had like 3-4 continents, all with odd, foreign sounding names for locations. It was heavily wooded on the northern end IIRC, it sounded almost German in it's naming conventions.

I know it's not a lot to go on, but I've been looking for this for years and haven't been able to re-find it.

If someone could help, I'd be super duper appreciative.

Regardless, lets dump some stuff, Fantasy Map thread!

>hero can reach power of dozens commoners
Anything else?

Yeah it pretty much adds up.

I was never really into Wharhammer - some of my old gaming buddies were, that's about it. But recently I decided it'd be interesting to get into it.

So, uh ... it's not just me, right? Warhammer has suddenly gone to shit in the last few years?

The fantasy gameline has been entirely killed off in favour of some "Age of Sigmar" bullshit, 40k has had time frozen, all the new Necron fluff is shit ...

Would it be crazy to consider filing the serial numbers off and creating a fan edition that's actually balanced and stuff? It seems like all that would be copyrighted is the actual names and specific model designs.

>>
>40k has had time frozen
Its a setting, not a metaplot.
>>
>>46776929
Didn't they used to advance? I remember hearing about tournaments that would alter the fluff for the next edition, various Tyranid fleets, and of course the Necrons all woke up just before they ran out of years in the 41st millenium.

Maybe I'm wrong though, I'm not an expert in any way.
>>
>>46776807
People need to get it out of their heads that "Warhammer 40,000" is going to enter the year 50,000 ACE. Seriously, guys, its in the freaking name. If we DO see the plot advance, all the fans are going to be screaming "Noooo! Your Age of Sigmaring 40k! Stop it!" regardless of what GW actually does.

What we really need to ask for is more tales from the past 10,000 years. I mean, more time has passed since the emperor fell than the entirety of human history up to this point. There should be waaaay more stories to tell in this Millennium before we have to move on to the next.

>>
>>46776667
The calling card doesn't make much sense considering they're supposed to be operators operating operationally. If you want the wine to be a calling card, it's something they should send to the Ecclesiarchy after they complete a mission.
>>
>>46776667
>>46776931
A calling card would be out of place since they're supposed to go unseen most of the time.

Maybe they include wine in their ceremonies or involve it in the occasional assassination, but leaving glasses of wine everywhere they go seems silly.

I can't speak for much, but i made a martial class that fought using spirits and willpower. Worked out fine, but was sadly widely inconsistent. At times it deleted combat encounters, sometimes could barely hit opponents.

Is a Paladin an ordained member of the clergy?

Could he pronounce two people to be husband and wife? Perform Burial rites? Or is that more the Cleric's area of expertise?

generally speaking, no. paladins are knights, not clergy. i imagine specific paladins could be members of the clergy if they wanted.

What are the most basic, well commonly known, cookie cutter races, sentient or not, in fantasy in general, /tg/ ?
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Orcs, Elves, Dwarves, Water Nymphs/Dryads, and Hobbits. First few are common knowledge why. Nyphms and Dryads are usually temptresses in Gladiator-like movies. Hobbits are basically shit in /tg/ but they're well made in the source material
>>
>>46775266
what about gnomes instead of hobbits ?
>>
>>46775266
Nymphs and dryads are a deep pull, bra. I'd put mermaids above nymphs, and if I asked my mother what a dryad was, she probably wouldn't be able to tell me.

Elves, Dwarves, Faeries, Trolls, and Dragons (if you consider the latter two to be races) are the most common, though. Hobbits, Halflings, and Gnomes are sort of fighting for the same conceptual space, so no single one of them can necessarily be called iconic.

The next most well known are probably Orcs and Ogres. Maybe Satyrs and Centaurs as well.

"Science fantasy" (or "sci-fi fantasy" or whatever) is a lovely mishmash of traditional fantasy and science fiction elements mashed together into one kitchen sink-esque hybrid. It's a world where technology meets magic and everything in between (aliens optional).

What are your experiences with such settings? What is the appeal (or lack thereof) of such a motif? What do you consider important, and how would you pull it off yourself?

Experiences with
>Setting, modern Earth with magic recently added in due to an alien goddess doing shenanigans that is eventually put down by some home grown heroes plus a few from her world of origin
>Whole new schools of science are founded to work out magics
>Someone figures out how to crystallize magic as a power source
>Soon all technology is powered off magic batteries giving it almost unlimited use time
>Magitech paves the way to space, terraforming and colonization
>The Magitech empire of Earth spreads across the cosmos
>>
>>46775399
So in your case, the aliens came and introduced magic. That's one way to do it.

Has anyone ever made a MtG roleplaying game?

I don't mean an RPG set in the MtG universe, I mean one using the rules of the card game as a jumping off point.

I ask because I started working on some rules last night, and I want to make sure that I'm not wasting my time.

>I'm not wasting my time.

>>
>>46774734
I'm rather sure that if someone has they would have posted it before, a lot. And people would give it a lot of shit as well, whether well deserved or not. So. God Speed OP.

That said, if you go through with it. Try and go with a more non-class system of things. A lot of characters in MtG don't fit in D&D classes well. It might be better to go with something more Fate-esqe and put things ontop of that to make it deeper.
