You know how you guys keep bitching about caster supremacy? Because this sounds right up your alley.

I hear it has internal balance issues, so DSP only is still preferred.
>>47324232
Balance issues? DSP? Please explain.
SOP is only for children who want to play expy anime and doctor who characters.
It is very gauche.
The year is 2040
Humanity was crushed by the Fleet of Fog, and can't risk losing the firepower they still have left.
They had to watch as their navies were all destroyed by ships that brought them hope and victories long ago.
But now, they can see these ships in a new light...

>LAST TIME on Kantai Collection of Blue Steel, we had a tea party on Lexington, and learned basic control of nanomaterials
>We have 1 Fate Point in the bank
Its been 5 days since you had the tea party on Lexington, and you've spent most of your time working on getting used to controlling nanomaterials.
The lights in the room, much less the whole base, flash red as an alarm blares.
"FOG PATROL FLEET SPOTTED. IT CONTAINS 1 WYOMING CLASS BATTLESHIP, AND 3 CLEVELAND CLASS LIGHT CRUISERS. ALL SHIPGIRLS PREPARE FOR LAUNCH IN 10 MINUTES," the loudspeaker projects loudly, hurting your ears slightly.
You have a few options of things to do in 10 minutes before you have to go.
>Practice shortly with nanomaterials and learn a simple version of a key skill (Pick 1 of these) (Passive Decoys, Scout Aircraft, or a reasonable Write-In)
>Head straight to battle stationsSorry about these limited options

ARISE, MY MASTERS!
Hey /tg/
I'm making a character for my campaign, basically a one of the 'villains' generals. How can I make this guy the biggest hate sink he can be? I'm talking Nurse Ratched hated.
So far I'm gonna have him hold an elaborate, but clearly flawed system of values he believes excuses all his actions, and even makes them right. This system will pull a 180 degree turn every time the situation changes. E.g.
> When destroying small disorganized clans
Might makes right. These people should thank me for enforcing the natural course of evolution
> when totally outgunned by the enemy
These people will show me no mercy, this makes them less then dogs and justifies my having massacred them mercilessly in the past
> if they show mercy
Fools. With silly emotions like this, these people would not have lasted long anyway. I am doing them a favor by killing them quickly
>>47322133
You're the GM right? First you need to make a thing the players love. Some likeable characters.
Then you need your villain to fuck these characters up, being totally smug about it and getting away with it.
As a case study, look at Geoffrey and Theon Greyjoy from GoT. Fans hated those assholes, and all because they dicked some fan favorite characters over.
>>47322133
Man, she was hot. I would have liked to fuck her in the closet in that uniform.

Off the top of my head they should mechanically be equivalent to potions, so the only difference is flavor in my opinion.
They might be used as potions for spells targeting objects though, since they don't require ingestion so maybe there's more to it?
I don't miss them but can see why someone would pick them up for their setting

What system would you pick to run a game about sneaking, backstabbing, and overall being a shady bastard?
>>47321014
DCC RPG with an all Thieves party.
It's probably the only RPG, and surprisingly enough in a D&D-inspired game, where the Thief's skills didn't make me outright angry.
GURPS
GURPS, we are doing exactly this
To all you poor saps hyping Nahiri: I'm better.
>>47320608
Who are all these people even?
Like, yeah, I get it, the metaplot of MtG is about some superhero magical dudes fighting each other, but literally who are all these people?
>>47320635
Who? The Jacetice league, or Nahiri?
>>47321309
The whole Planeswalkers business.
I don't mean in general, I mean who are the people that are involved in it, what do they do, and why do they even associate with each other.
What worlds have you crafted /tg/? I will post mine, and feel free to discuss it and even run away with it for your own use while you post your own for us to enjoy as well.
In my setting the Not!Roman empire rules the mainland, with monsters lurking in the shadows but mostly kept hidden away by the power of these humans who have taken over. Out in the ocean, farther than sny boat bas ever gone, there are islands, small, craggy, and mostly barren. These islands were the cradles of the world. The gods each put a species split between two islands and each half had different cultures. Then the two cultures are pit against each other and the one the gods declare the winner gets to move on, but the losers are either all dead or trapped on an island that was once a fertle paradise rotting away and becoming a barren hell. The celtic themed nature loving losing side of the humans are still trapped, but then a pillar of obsidion falls from the sky and embeds into the tallest seaside cliff. When a special tribemember gets close to it, a great elder being, even older than thr gods contacts him/her, and they form a pact, that the elder being will free them from the island and help them get strong and they will worship him so he becomes strong again too. The celts travel to the mainland, and then the game starts.

Yes, I just copy pasted this from a thread I posted it in. With the bit of feedback I got from that thread, I can add the second race. Small evil goblin inventors that gave the notRomans their architectural marvels like aqueducts and giant temples to the gods that chose them as the ones to survive on the mainland. The half left behind are huge less inteligent goblins that are good at more personal crafts. Swords, jewelry, baskets, those types of things.

I was working on a kids-friendly post-apocalyptic game called Irradiant, with confusable mutants, people preserved in giant sardine cans, glowing crystals that disgorge massive preserved meals, robot nannies that chase and incarcerate kids, etc.
Had a simple tag-based system - Good At/Bad At the following [tags].
The popularity of Fallout and Adventure Time made me feel the idea was derivative/overdone, so I quit.
Infinity is a 28mm scale skirmish game by Corvus Belli where nearly 200 years into the future people still only get along when posing for art.

ALEPH will never leave you, ALEPH is your best friend.

Aren't all the factions except combined army officially at peace?

What's the best system to run a "Big Trouble in Little China" game in?
>>47319606
FENG SHUIIIIIIIII, MOTHERFUCKER!!!
Seriously, guns + chinese magic + demons + an actual underworld.
Upcoming Shadow of the Century game, fate core based, explicitly designed to replicate stuff like this, escape from LA, any big 80s action flicks. There are char sheets out there that are designed to be folded up and put into a cassette tape box like a song list, even.
I would personally use GURPS, but I'm a giant GURPSfag and I already know how I would build and run it.
Most people would probably have the best results doing this in Savage Worlds or something.
What ever happened to that souls inspired scifi game we where making? I can't remember what it was called but it had a nice set of rules and a few pdfs were made for it.
Like every other case of "tg getting shit done", it ate shit and died.

>>47319343
It was called lost source, and desu it looked kinda cool, wish I had saved it and not just pinned the board
Just found the pdf
How do you Intimidate your group with an NPC without your group haplessly attack said NPC. Even after it was made very clear that he is not to be trifled with.
Mfw they kill him because story first.
Did they have any in-character reason not to kill him? Was that reason as important to them as the annoyance they felt when he tried to threaten them?
>>47319013
Easy. You threaten them when said NPC is in an unassailable position. Picture it. The party is at some... party, I guess, all fancy dress upper-crust shit, and Badguy McBadderson makes some oblique references to some PC or another's family. What does the party do? If they attack, they're going to be seen as criminals.
I shouldn't have to say this on a board for traditional games, but use your fucking imagination.
>>47319013
Have the NPC kill one of them first.
At one does someone role-play too much?
> inb4 larping
I mean obviously but that's like saying 'you know you've drunk too much water when you're literally drowning'
>>47318972
When they develop a mental disorder. I knew a kid who had to go to the local funny farm because he literally couldn't stop rolling dice to decide his real-life actions.
LARPing is just having fun with friends.
>At one does someone role-play too much?
When it starts becomming deterrent to other people's opportunities to roleplay or even just rollplay.
>>47318972
Booker has snacks. Ha.
You rp too much when it becomes detrimental to your life. Can't get a job because you are on roll20? Too far. But other than that, you're good.
Opinions, /tg/?
On mechanics, setting, system, style, whatever.
>>47318909
The only thing I've seen of it was the "lol, your balls fall off and your dick explodes!" spell. I don't know anything else about it, but that was enough to color my expectations somewhat.
>>47318909
It's supposed to be Diablo-like demonic horror with horrific magicks and whatnot, but I haven't played it.
>>47318909
Fantastic if you want to play Diablo3 without a computer.
The combat mechanics are gamey as fuck.It feels less like a roleplaying game and more like a boardgame that's full of itself.
What would be a good symbol for lost oppurtunities?
I'm writing a dream scene for a plaadin in our party and it will consist of two symbols: lost time and lost oppurtunities. Lost time will be clocktowers with clocks ripped out. What about lost oppurtunities?
thanks
Girls from their past they never pursued. Requests for help they turned down. Other professions they could have taken. e.g. flashbacks of stuff that didn't happen because they either accidentally or deliberately missed out
Perhaps images of a family they could have had with one of the farm-girls in their old town, etc.
Nice, bot too obvious. Thatswhy clocktowers with clocks ripped out = lost time. I need a symbol.
Broken bridges, locked gates, other such blocked off paths. You could emphasise them as past opportunities as opposed to future ones by having these paths close off behind the paladin as they passes or travels down them.
Personally I like my dream sequences to be fairly interactive in their imagery, so for lost time I would've gone for something like hourglasses that have run their course, but sand doesn't flow if they are flipped (or if they're still running, continue flowing from bottom to top) - if you want to keep the clock theme, stopped clocks that won't start even if you wind them.
