My name is Cecile, and I'm sixteen years old. I already thought my life was odd, what with my parents having moved halfway across the country for their new job and leaving me in the care of my older sister... but then my best friend went and had a book shipped to my house that ended up giving me superpowers.

Thanks to said superpowers, I've been dragged into all sorts of horrible situations, the latest of which involves a masked thief who wanted revenge against me for killing a friend of his.

But that dumbass went and killed himself my accident so now I'm free to go back to my usual daily life. Finally.

Your boy is going to a modern tournament today for some cash. Entry is like 40 dollars and like 80 people are going to go. The question is in a diverse meta where everything is going to show up do i play Mono Red Burn or Blue Red Delver? I know tron,infect,burn,jeskai control, graveyard shit strategies, grixis, jund, is going to be there. Whats the right call.

It’s been about a month since we’ve returned from Oendal, glad to put the the dirty, grimy city behind us.

I’ve returned to my studies, learning more about witches and boggarts still, while Mr Johnson continues life as normal, scribbling notes out, day after day, taking odd work.

Winter’s well and truly set in now, even in Arling, the gorgeous red of the apple trees leaves turning to bare branches all the way into town. That’s a shame.

Marmalade seems glad to have us back though, having spent the first few days rubbing around our legs affectionately, before typical feline indifference took over her once more, and she returned to her position of assuming superiority while lying by the fire.

Kara and I are currently trudging into town, grocery run. She’s not really handling the cold that well, even all rugged up in winter clothes, she clutches herself close… but she insists on coming with me anyway.

“Oi, morning midgets.” Alison grins, stomping across the snow, a cheerful smile etched on her face. “Getting food?” We nod, “Good, skies afire, but I’m bored.” Her father’s banned her from leaving the village after Alison’s… ‘appropriation’ of the family barge on our trip.

I rub my hands and huff some hot breath into them, feeling a brief tingle in my arm hairs, glimpsing a brief glance of two children wearing black through the trees, but I take another step and the two are gone… weird.

I’ll check that out on the way back.

The snowfall starts picking up again, flurries of ice flying up in our faces, Kara whimpering. “Why does winter have to be so cold?” She asks through the muffle of her scarf.

“It seems to be its defining feature.” I muse, giving her a grin that she can’t see. “Just a little further.”

Last time, things were cut short by an abrupt QM existence failure, mea culpa, but at least you had the chance to talk with Samantha Blanchett, who came up with a plan to stay with the Iron Kestrels while still making you look good for ostensibly releasing her. Now, you're on your way to talk to another one of the women you've ensnared with your maximum Cool, one Gretchen Colburn, host of QTPI news.

Right now, she's interviewing SOUL Squad A, who fought fiercely to defend their damaged battleship and your own vessel in battle against the now-extinct Green Skulls.

In most role-playing games, women seem to fall somewhere between "completely equal to men in status and ability" and a sort of compromise between that and traditional historical gender roles, where men have most of the power and perform most of the dangerous and important (non-domestic) jobs, but exceptional women who are on relatively even footing with men are not uncommon. That's a pretty safe, comfortable range that gives everybody the freedom to do what they want, and it's probably best for most campaigns.

But I'm interested in hearing about games where the role of women falls outside this range. Are women in your games little more than chattel? Or maybe they're put on a pedestal but kept safely away from danger? Or do they actually have an advantage over men in terms of status or ability?

Do people play characters of the disadvantaged gender in such games? How does that work out? How do the PCs treat "the lesser sex" in general? Are your players hesitant to fully embrace what they may see as sexist roles, or do they seem to actually relish them?

Note: I couldn't care less about your evaluation of women's capabilities relative to men's in real life. We're talking about role-playing games in fantastical, imaginary worlds here, and that doesn't really apply. I do, however, expect to see plenty of it and ask folks here not to derail the thread arguing against it, but rather to see it as people "getting into character" and espousing an in-game viewpoint.

Also Note: This is sure to get fetishy in short order. That's pretty much unavoidable, given where we are. I just ask that you don't stray too far from the topic at hand, and if that kind of thing bothers you, that you ignore it rather than bickering over it.

What should be the limits of the DMPC? I've been thinking about this, and I think it's fine if it's needed as long as the DMPC is not the party leader, meta knowledge and all that.

I might have to be a DMPC because my party doesn't have a cleric, and they literally might die without one in game.

ITT: Post people being enthusiastically horrible people. Whether its volunteering to torture or steal, smugly bragging about a scam they have going, or passionately detailing the wonderful misdeeds they witnessed someone else committing.


I need to get in the mindset of someone who is passionately sick, malicious or awful for a game I'm in where I'm playing a thouroughkly immoral chemist who takes cues from stereotypical evil Nazi doctors.

Plus depictions of this sort of evil is often good for a laugh even when its utterly horrifying.

Shinobi Quest #8

This quest takes place within the lands of the Five Great Shinobi Nations (aka Narutoverse) starting roughly around the beginning of the original series. The world of this quest remains similar to the original, with slight but notable differences in certain areas, based upon the passage of time from a single slightly altered event.

(It’s a goddamn Naruto Quest, you bastards. Have fun, participate, and write in when you feel inclined. Most of the outcomes of this quest will be determined by you, the players. Critiques and questions are always welcome, as my knowledge of the weeby shit is not all encompassing.)

Last thread, Team 7 had a fateful confrontation with one of the former Seven Swordsman of the Mist, Raiga Kurosuki. After dispatching his minions, the Kurosuki Family, our intrepid team decided to backup their sensei, who was embroiled in a fight with Raiga. While at first the fight seemed to be going well, Raiga regularly displayed abilities the girls simply were not ready for, or could not predict. As a result, Ebisu took a devastating wound from Raiga’s Lightning Dragon Tornado; an attack intended for Hinata. After apologising to Tsuki, and imploring her to find her teammates and take care of them, Ebisu used a power self-destruction technique to make sure Raiga was defeated.

Despite the overwhelming sadness, Tsuki took charge, and the remaining Team 7 Genin took the necessary actions to complete the mission. After a brief chat with the Hokage, Tsuki met up with Hinata, who finally released her emotions.

We rejoin Tsuki a few days later, as a man has arrived at her abode…
