He's pretty great in Fantasy as well. Fantasy was his origin and the place where his first champion appeared in comic form.

The Pantheon of Chaos Kickstarter even made models for his Fantasy demons, including the Demon Prince, Steed, and Hook Horror, plus a Herald and a few dozen interesting monsters and mercs for chaos warbands.

>"It is a disease like any other, it can be treated, it can be prevented. All this superstition just makes it harder to contain" (GTC doctor dealing with early stage infection in a traveling group)

CorpseBloom is a fungal species that appears in some unclaimed areas of Soi and most notably Haunted forests of Kushan. The fungus infects humans that either inhale enough spores or get the spores directly into their bloodstream. It begins growing throughout the body as it is still alive, and reprograms the brain to become obsessed with spreading more fungal growth to other species, eventually causing the human to become feral and extraordinarily violent.

The Goran are a collection of Ab human races on the surface of Soi that make up the Goran Nation. They are most commonly characterized by a fair complexion and red hair but have large range of breeds of mankind. The Goran are made up of various genetically engineered castes that each fulfill a unique position within their civilization as dictated by the Fire God . >"No one gathers power for innocent reasons. No one ever wishes to be unopposed in order to be benevolent. There will always be opposition for those seeking to gain complete control; I will ensure it" -14th Councilmember
The 14th Councilmember is the Immortal most commonly associated with the creation of the Ashed ab human race and founding the Ashed Confederacy.

The 14th Councilmember is named such due to the structure of the Ashed government being that every city is governed by a council of 12 business leaders, a citizen picked by lottery, and a seat of power for the Immortal should it choose to attend. The 14th chair is often left unoccupied.

Little is known of this Immortal as it has become a recluse from the world since the end of the Great War where it received its label "The Betrayer" by the Kushanese and Friendly nations by withdrawing its forces as victory over the expansionist empires seemed imminent. Historical records indicate its reasons for preventing victory of its allies were to "keep the world interesting". As a result, global peace remains elusive.

The Ashed government's official policy is that the 14th chair is reserved for this being and that it has veto power over law with the exception of unanimous vote.

The 14th is considered a historical figure by the Ashed in terms of founding the confederacy of city states. Historically speaking, Ashed texts do not acknowledge the immortality of this creature.

I need some help with a weird army building setup we are trying out soon.

We are making a 5v5 army game where each player has 1000 points, but only 1 battlefield role.

1 has all HQs
1 has all Troops
1 has all Elites
1 has all Heavy Support
1 has all Fast attack

We all count as Super Friends regardless of the army.

I have been placed on the "good" side with my Tau like this:
HQ: Space Marine
Troop: Skitaari
Fast Attack: Dark Angels
Elites: Imperial Guard
Heavy Support: Tau (me)

Not sure how these armies work, but my HS options are fairly limited in terms of options. We were given the roles based on a drawing (no one got to choose). I know we were allowed to use markerlights cross faction (so anyone on my side can use them) which makes skyrays an option that also has decent anti-air.

Another option would be ALL the broadsides with a million S7 AP4 missiles.

I am not sure what the opponents are, but I know the factions are:
Eldar
Demons
Orks
Necrons
Space Marines (he refused to be "good" since he plays it as a Renegade chapter, but with standard Marine rules)

Any suggestions? I often have so few heavy support cchoices in my armies, and I have no idea what these players even CAN bring in their respective slots, so I am not quite sure what would be best to bring in.

Building an mindflayer boss fight for a D&D 3.5 game.

Party consists of five level 6 characters:
Elan Psion (shaper)
Azurin Psychic Warrior
Human Crusader (spiked chain based)
Human Swordsage (shadow hand based)
Gnoll Totemist

This is going to be a big boss fight (CR 9).
I want to use a mindflayer (psionic variant) with grimlock minions.

Ideas:
The party is sneaky, so it might be a good idea to give the mindflayer the Mindsight feat from Lords of Madness.
The party can dish out a lot of damage, so I also need to make the mindflayer tough.
Maybe swap out Improved Initiative for Psicrystal Affinity (nimble personality) and give the psicrystal the Mind Sight feat.
Then I can swap out one of the mindflayer's level 2 powers for Share Pain and do the Vigor +Share Pain+Psicrystal combo.
Larval Flayers is a flavorful power, and it could add a second wave of minions to the encounter when the grimlocks are knocked out, but it is kind of a weak power and a waste of power points. What I may do instead is give the mindflayer a Dorje of Larval Flayers and points in Use Psionic Device so it has something to do when its power points are all gone.
The grimlocks can get Thrall Bred instead of Track, and some other feat instead of Alertness since the mindflayer already has that covered.

Terrain will have features that impair visibility, such as fog or darkness, since none of the monsters need to be able to see.

Suggestions?

>Obligatory don't play 3.5

As a DM, you can change the Mindflayer however you want. Feel free to give them at-will Larval Flayers if you're worried that you'll need to sacrifice any power overall for fluff. Also, it seems the party is heavily melee. Use things like pits and copious amounts of difficult terrain.
>>
>>47649364

Some more specific questions for all of you:

Should I use just four grimlocks, or two grimlocks with templates?

If the psicrystal has the same skills as its master, then can the psicrystal use a dorje?

I'd like to give the mindflayer tentacle extensions from The Illithiad, but I can't find stats for those in Lords of Madness. Any ideas?

My campaign has wand chambers from Dungeonscape adapted into dorje chambers. If the psicrystal can't use a dorje, I may put dorje chambers in the mindflayer's tentacle extensions. And maybe stick some poison wells and weapon augment crystals on there for good measure. What's a good way to fit that into the gear budget?

How powerful would some of the larger Space Hulks be?

Enough to require an exterminatus fleet to destroy?

If armed and crewed by Orks or a deseprate CSM/Dark Mechanicus army, how would one compare to an Emperor Class battleship?
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>47649277
Usually they are more a threat because of their sheer mass that is heading towards something important like a planet. Space hulks, as far as I remember, do not have weapons and are an amalgamation of derelict ships that become trapped in the warp and sometimes house xenos and chaos
>>
>>47649277
I imagine it'd be unsteerable given all the engines pointing in different directions
>>
>>47649277
A space hulk is made up of derelict ships and other bits of junk that have fused together in the warp. The threat comes more from whatever horrors are lurking onside than the hulk itself as most of the weapon systems no longer work and are scattered about pointing in random directions.

Goblins, hobgoblins, and bugbears are technically the same general species thing, and are under one god. Goblins and Hobgoblins have a history of infighting. Bugbears are apparently often used to try to get the two sides to remember there are more groups under the goblinoid banner... to try to cement the "goblinoid" races as one functional entity. Still, as bugbears are large, in a fantasy setting they have to be stupid. So they don't actually have an equal place in goblinoid society.

It is probably a reference to such tactics in the real world, and also to make us suspect the umbrella thing is smarter then it seems.

The Roach is breaking the 4th wall and fucking with us. As the Umbrella monster has for the longest time remained a mystery, he is suggesting we look for a monster that could make this political deduction.
>>
Fuck, the art got really creepy after he started coloring in the hands.

Like, they don't read as just infinitesimally arbitrary lines used as a visual stand in for hands anymore. They read as the characters actually having deformed fork things for hands.

The thumbnail makes it look like Oona is getting baked.

Your eyes open slowly.
At first the world is just a blur to you but after a few blinks with your heavy eyelids the image slowly clears.
It feels quite uncomfortable laying on the table that Yata prepared just for you.
The edge of the table offers sufficient support as you slowly sit up, still dizzy.

When you look around you can see your avian friend cleaning his hands.
Your throat feels a bit dry but you still manage to speak up.
"How long?"

"Five hours."

"Took your sweet time huh?"

"Have you operated on someone who can regenerate before?
It's quite tedious."
He simply shrugs as he answers.

Naturally you aren't surprised by this lengthy procedure, it was obvious that he'd enjoy taking a peek inside you now that you achieved the pinnacle of hollow evolution.
The first thing you did was coming over to him as it was agreed years ago.
When you blink you can still see the expression of everyone around you, their eyes filled with equal parts fear and awe.
But you shake that imagery from your head, the others can wait a bit longer.

"So...
Did you find out anything?"
You ask him now that your head is slowly clearing.

He puts down the towel and comes before you.
"What do you want to hear first, the obvious or the interesting part?"

"Let's get the basic stuff out of the way.
Am I good or not?"

"Depends on your definition of good.
The metamorphosis was perfect, no ill side-effects whatsoever.
And you do indeed have the anatomy of the average human.
But calling you human would be like considering a spec of dirt a mountain.
On the surface you have organs like a human and you have them at the correct places BUT, and this is a big but, it looks like every tissue and organ inside of you has been completely remodeled and therefore the capabilities of your body have increased immeasurably.
It's still not optimized perfectly but most flaws that are present in living organisms seem to have been corrected."

You look at your own hands and give them a few squeezes.
Yata meanwhile simply looks at you.

"So, how does it feel to be a superior life form?"

You clench your fist and look back up.
"It feels weird.
I've gotten so used to my old body that having this new one is disorienting."

"I can imagine worse things happening to you."

"Yeah, I bet you could.
So, was that all or did you make some other discoveries?"

He puts his fingers together and gives you a quite menacing grin.
"Indeed I have.
You see, while I was operating..."

"You mean dissecting..."

"Keep complaining and the next time I won't use anesthesia.
Now, where was I?
Oh yes, the operation.
I said it took me five hours didn't I?
Well, I was done with your examination in about an hour due to my familiarity with human anatomy.
So I decided to do something fun while you were still knocked out."

"For some reason I don't like where this is going..."

"Don't worry, I did nothing to you.
I merely decided to observe your bodily functions for a while.
And guess what!
I managed to figure out the rate of your regeneration!"

You blink a few times and then cock your head a bit.
"I'm sorry what?
I thought we agreed that my healing rate can vary depending on the situation..."

"No, not that!
I mean that I was observing your nano-hollows.
It was no surprise that they help out with your bodies basic functions, such as transporting oxygen to your muscles or delivering nutrients.
But what I realized was quite stunning.
Turns out, those little bastards inside of you are constantly dismantling individual cells within your body and then reconstruct them according to the various information that they gather, making certain cells stronger if they are frequently damaged etc.
And they do this sequentially, reconfiguring each cell one by one including important organs as well."

birdman3.png
780KB, 875x840px
Naturally it takes different amounts of time for different types of cells but the cumulative amount of time it takes for them to COMPLETELY re-forge your body is approximately 4 days.
Meaning that every four days you get a new, better body.
The change might be insignificant at first but over time this adds up to a ridiculous increase in your power.
Considering that your body takes in the reishi particles around you, it's no wonder you managed to get so powerful in such a small amount of time."

You look back at your still clenched fist and think about all the things that these little guys did for you.
They are the foundation upon which everything around here was built and no one even knows, except You and Yata of course.
"Wow..."

"Wow, indeed.
So, what are you going to do now?"

You shove your fist into your palm as you stand up.
"I'm going to go for a test-drive."

Yata smiles and then sends you off, you've contaminated his lab for long enough.
As you take a few steps outside the enclosed lab area you can see basically the entire population gathered up and waiting for your arrival.
Everybody is admiring your new form and you can hear the occasional whistle in the agitated crowd.
At the forefront are your arrancar friends: Pesci, Alex, Neliel, Pesche, Dondochakka, Alistair, Dordoni, Gantenbainne and Cirucci all eager to finally talk with you.

Dordoni is the one who steps forth to greet you with open arms.
"Amigo, you actually did it!
You are looking fine too!
Truth be told, we were all a bit scared first and didn't pay much attention to your appearance but this look really suits you!"

As he says that you look over your new form once more, the pristine white segments of your armor, your white skin peeking out where it's not covered, the black cloth and underneath it your tail.
It still feels odd but somewhere deep down you enjoy this.
>>
"Unfortunately I don't think we have much time for a pleasant chat amigo.
Look at this crowd!
They are all here because they are excited about your achievement!
They want to see a performance and I think you should give them just that.
What do you say about a little brawl?
It should be good for showcasing your skills..."

It's true, the crowd will get out of control if they don't see a fight soon.
There will be plenty of time for pleasantries later and Dordoni probably wants to report your new power to Aizen as soon as possible.
But who would be a good fighting partner?

As you are thinking about just that Dordoni pokes your shoulder.
"Amigo if you don't mind, I might have just the thing for you..."

"Really?
What is it?"

"It's a secret..."

Who do you want to fight with?

Can we please stop referring to dungeons and dragons like it's one game, when it is, by my count, at least eight different systems, some of which are very similar to and some of which are quite different from one another?

It's amazing that this board can simultaneously have edition wars and blanket dismissals of D&D as "all about casters" and "a power trip game" and so on.

Unless the very idea of medieval fantasy doesn't appeal to you, there's no reason to refuse to try one edition of D&D just because you didn't like another.

Hey, /tg/. So I was looking through my collection while watching some mtg content on my TV, and I thought Fuck It, I want to build a cube. But I'maso not going to spend $30,000 to make one, so I felt a fun challenge would be to make an all-commons cube, or pauper cube as its commonly known.

I'm looking to achieve a 'greatest hits' sort of feeling, so cards like lightning bolt, counterspell, and doomblade will be obvious inclusions, but also classics like gravedigger, giant growth, divination, and mind rot.

So when I say the greatest hits of magic at common, what do you think of, /tg/? Keep in mind I'm not just talking about power level.

I'm alright, thank you for asking!

You are correct in thinking that you can put that aura on an opponent's creature if you wish; it'll get +3/+2 until Parallax Dementia leaves the battlefield. At that time the Aura will trigger and destroy what it was attached to. Normally that'll be two turns later- on your next upkeep you remove the fade counter, and then the upkeep after that Fading kills it because you have no more counters to remove. But if the aura were to be disenchanted or something, that would also kill the creature.

There's a lot of "/tg/ rolls up a Space Marine Chapter" threads that pop up, and while they're fun, there's a shit ton of Chapters that have next to no fluff already in the canon. So I thought it might be fun to fluff some of these chapters out. Its a good place to kick around those half-baked ideas you've had for a chapter, or if you want to come up with something new. Hell, you could even use the tables to quickly get some ground fluff out if you want. A good number of these Chapters are literally just a name with nothing attached, so there's plenty of room for creativity!

So, we could roll for what chapter we fluff on a list I made, or just choose based on color scheme/name, and fluff accordingly. I figured a good guide-line for what to write about them would be:
>Origins
>demeanor/culture/beliefs
>combat doctrine
>strength
>enemies

While I think it would be fun to work on a chapter as a thread up to the point that we feel its fleshed out, there's nothing stopping you from posting an idea of your own for a different chapter.

I thought a good chapter to start with would be the Golden Halos, since they have a pretty okay color scheme, and just enough background to work around. Here's basically all that's known about them:

>The Golden Halos' banner has flown above many a battlefield. Most notably it witnessed the Chapter's victories at Kistvaen, Podzul and the decade-long Siege of Nectocalyx, which was more commonly known as "The Meatgrinder."
>Their motto Ex Ungue Leonem ("Judge the lion by his claws") reveals their proud martial tradition.

So they're canonical badasses with a long history of military achievements. I feel like being a fleet based chapter would work for these guys

Since they are said to be in numerous battles, and seem to be well venerated, maybe second or third founding would work for them. Doing generic space knights doesn't seem very fun, could be something like a mix between Papal Zouaves and French Foreign Legion, since, as a fleet based chapter, they would have to recruit from all over to maintain their ranks?

If we do go with fleet based, we could have them like the black templars, where they're technically on a crusade, so they can have more than the standard thousand marines, although it wouldn't be by much. Maybe 2000?
