Does /tg/ talk about Apocalypse World 2.0e?
There's a lot of hatred towards the World games on /tg/
Probably not. /tg/ in general tends to dislike cool games.
>>47746423
I didn't know there was a 2e. What's changed?
I'm a Dawn of War /v/eteran and haven't played tabletop so I'm going off second-hand info here.
So Space Marines, in fiction, are unstoppable über warriors that crush the enemies of man. Bolters are automatic uranium tipped rocket launchers.
And yet you see them die by the dozens to cockroaches and space communists.
How would /tg/ do statlines for different marine chapters, Aspect Warriors. Bolters, and other things where the fluff doesn't reflect the actual rules?
>>47746041
I guess what I'm meaning is that "the armor just shrugs off bolter rounds" should mean "this thing is badass".
Not "this thing's mid range heavy infantry or a light vehicle"
It's just my opinion but it seems to be reflected in the fluff.
>>47746041
You accept the fact that the video games and the tabletop will never represent the lore exactly. At least on the tabletop, it's easy to consider them as taking an incapacitating wound , not a fatal one.
>>47746041
You play the RPGs, which have much more nuanced representations than either the wargame or the video games .
Why do Orzhov and Boros have angels, but Azorius and Selesnya do not?
>>47745522
Angels don't mix well with green and blue, blue isn't very emotional which may play a part and green tends to be more primal and doesn't really create living breathing constructs capable of complex thought, the only real example of them doing so lore wise is bruna and sigarda but the angels of innistrad seem to be very different then ones on other planes.
There have been things like lightning angel etc but really they weren't created with much lore in mind back then.
B/W are the angel colors. Red dabbles occasionally because of the whole fire and brimstone, glorious warfare thing. U and G just don't really get them in general.
tribal should be more of a thing in mtg.
i want awesome devils, sirens, succubus and well all the others
What method do you folks use to keep parties together in pathfinder. This seems to be my biggest challenge
Keep environment lethal enough that lone individuals inevitably die sooner rather than later.
Start the game with the contrivance that "You guys are a team, you have to cooperate and work together" and enforce it consistently.
Refuse to run for a split party for anything longer than a single roll to scout ahead.
If folks want to split up long term, you'll run for the larger group and the rest become NPCs
Whould /tg/ want a overly motherly paladin in their party who when catching you doing misdeeds give you a stern talking too, but always makes you your meals and takes care of you if you are hurt or sick.
You are pathetic.

Yes
Is there a game centered around playing characters in a family sitcom?
I don't mean "is there a game where you could bend the rules to facilitate this" -- I mean is there a game where that's the entire core premise of the mechanics? Something that could just as easily produce an episode of The Simpsons as it could Bob's Burgers or Fresh Prince?
>>47742617
Bob's Burgers is shit but your group will probably be good at it if they had rules for it since it's unlikely that any of you are funny
>>47742663
ouch
>>47742663
That's helpful, thanks.
So I'd like to discuss what we think will be in Eldritch Moon, and more specifically, if Emrakul is in the set, what we think her abilities will be and what Eldrazi cards we will see.
das pritty cool
I'm guessing Emrakul will be something like:
12 or 13 mana cost.
13/13
Flying, trample
When you cast Emrakul, some wacky thing happens.
I'm also guessing there will be transforming Eldrazi cards, which I would love to see.
>>47745579
>when you cast emrakul, target creature slips on a banana peel
>2; throw target pie
>you should play x system
>don't play y system
Wow, thanks for the advertisement, but I was looking for advice.
As someone who has played just about every system you can name and many you've never even heard of, I appreciate how diligent you are in your proselytizing for the mini cults you've pledged your souls to, but between all the hair-splitting, overstatements, and downright lying that goes on around here, I'm starting to wonder what the undercurrent behind all this madness might be.
Is this some sort of game? Are you keeping score?
I'm sure you plan on pretending you're earnest in your advice and you just want people to know about how great your game is, but bless my soul you needn't worry about that. If they're genuinely curious about your cult, they'll be sure to ask, and you can wait for those threads instead of proselytizing at every opportunity like you get a check for every "convert."
The funny thing about this all, about all this silly business, is that in my three decades of experience, the lesson I've carried with me is that the system is the least important facet of whether you're going to have a good time or not, regardless of how much someone tries to sell you its importance. You might as well be arguing about what color the cup you drink out of is.
Whoa we got a badass over here
Try playing GURPS
>>47742385
OP, when you make a new thread to complain about shitposting, you become the shitposter.
So as I kid I played this game called Mechassault. It was fucking cool and the mech designs kinda stayed with me.
So then I'm an adult on a boring night recently, I'm staying up late and can't get sleep and I find a video about Battletech. So then I make the connection and start down the rabbit hole. Eight hours later I'm reading all the entries on Sarna and looking up gameplay on the old Mechwarrior games.
This fucking universe and shit is awesome. Why the fuck is none of the vidya easy to get? Why the fuck didn't I hear about the tabletop till like now. I've been playing Infinity, 40K, and Fantasy since I started college.
>>47742298
>Why the fuck didn't I hear about the tabletop till like now.
I mean it isn't like we've had a Mechwarrior/Battletech general going here since the younger neolithic or so.
>>47742298
>>47742429
on the other hand the IP licenser, Catalyst Game Labs, does shit to advertise the game since it took care of the game, 10 years ago or something
OP, if you want to talk about the table top go to >>47731171
>>47742298
As a kid I thought MechAssault and MechWarrior were two different things. Then all of the sudden I saw guys at my local game store playing Battletech and then I was really confused. The dots didn't really connect very well.

As the rest of your group filters through the portal, you survey the remnants of the battle that took place at your ranch. The majority of the fighting seems to have taken place between the main house and the barn. The way Tai tells it, the Phoenix caught Zhou's people in the midst of the shift change. Their leader, who you can only assume was the faux McCain, shot one of the beastfolk immediately presumably in the hopes of cowing the rest. Given the blood and the number of savaged bodies, you can only assume it had the opposite effect.
Both the bunkhouse and Liama's tent appear to have received the worst of the fighting, bulletholes riddling the fabric of the latter. Near the corral you see that the phoenix dead have been piled up under a lean-to. Thirty bodies by your count, though you're not too keen to examine them too closely. Over near the bunkhouse you see Tatiana tending to the wounded, seven of Zhou's people, Artyom ,who Tatiana is fussing over at the moment, and one of Liama's shadows. Jack if you recall correctly. Liz, Caff, and Eli have set up sentry positions from the rooftops. In the distance you can see Marie floating around the perimeter of the ranch.
>>47741446
"Two of ours didn't make it, Miss Sasha." Tai says, pointing over to where a group of Zhou's people are tending to a pair of prone figures, and where the youngest of them are building some sort of pyre.
"You said some of the attackers might still be alive?"
"Might, got them over with Mister James and the rest of Mister Serrak's builders. Zhou wants their heads. Can't say I blame him. We've been tending to our wounded first."
>Question Tai on what happened.
>Go inspect the dead.
>See what the beastfolk are doing.
>Check on the survivors.
>Other?
>>47741469
>Check on the survivors.
First things check on those still living. Leaving Tai to coordinate with the others, you head to where Tatiana is cinching a gauze pad to Artyom's shoulder.
[How bad is it?] You ask in Casimiran as Tatiana does a double take.
[I... How did you return so fast?]
[Same way they got here, but that's no matter. How bad are we?]
[The worst is over. There is naught I can do for those two,] The female centaur says nodding to congregation of beastfolk around the dead, [But ours that did die, died swiftly. Which is more than I can say for those Artyom ran across.]
Looking over at the hussar you see him shrug, wincing as he pulls against his bandage. [I was near that building when they came.] He grunts, pointing at the barn, [Did what I could.]
You note the pitchfork still held in the centaurs good arm, the red on the tines giving no doubt as to 'what I could' entailed. Your gaze shifts over to the other wounded, who seem to be bearing their injuries with a quiet indignation.
[I'd rather they did not move, had to have Tai tell their leader to let me work on them. They'd rather finish the job on the others,] Tatiana says pakcing her medicines and rising, [Now I must see to the enemy.] She says. Looking back towards the ranch you can see Liama and McCain having a discussion with Tai, Zhou, and Captain Keel. A squad of the Nitor your raided the phoenix cave with have taken over guard duty.
[These are soldiers.] Artyom says quietly, gesturing to the other wounded, [They do not try and hide it, but I didn't recognize it at first. There is a bearing to them. They held well against a far greater number.]
You note a bit of admiration in his voice as you figure on what to do next.
>Action?
Let's make a setting, /tg/. Every post should have one fact about it, and everything is true so long as it doesn't contradict what came before. I'll start
>Wizards obscure their faces , for to see a mans face is to know him. This has evolved into elaborate costuming, designed to impress, baffle, and terrify. You can generally tell the strongest wizard by who is most outlandish looking
>As a result of this showing emotions through facial expressions have slowly become taboo throughout the ages.
Buildings and statues all have blasphemous grimmacing mask motifs.
>>47741021
>>Wizards obscure their faces
Each wizard has single innate power that they can strengthen through intense training.
>with the advent of the Internet and its rapid technical progress, virtual graveyards have started popping up in the 'Net
>forgotten VR worlds created by the users and NPCs stuck inside of them, abandoned Geocities pages written by people who've long since died or moved on, numerous vaporware that has vanished in the time as fast as it appeared
>and now the rumors have started popping up, that among the endless quantity and variety of these virtual graveyards, some have started coming to life
>intelligent discussion with NPCs in virtual worlds that have been abandoned before the dot-com bubble, haunted diary pages being updated as if their owners were still alive, banner ads advertising long dead vaporware as if it was still updated

I really want to play in an RPG.
Unfortunately, that's not going to happen any time soon, so I need to get myself out of a rut so that I can run a proper game. To do that, I want to know what your favourite systems are for short, one shot, or one off games. Something where I can run things and get myself out of a not-RPing funk without days and weeks of preparation or the expectation of keeping a game alive for six months.
I don't really want to ask for themes or kinds of games or anything, since I feel doing that colours what responses I'll get. Just tell me what kind of games YOUR group plays when they want quick, simple games. Although I will say I'm looking for something a *little* more involved than, say, RISUS or Tactical Waifu.
Other than checking that it's not porn, pic not related.
>>47740589
GURPS Lite when you seriously want to play with rolls a one shot game. 30 pages, extremely condensed, can be used for anything, doesn't suffer from long-ass character creation
Narrative gameplay when we don't feel like rolling dice at all, so usually ad-hoc homebrew with character sheet made out of napkin with all the most important elements about the character on it. Or not even napkin, just telling outright who is your character.Anyone got reverse of that pic?
Go with D02 role playing system. Google it.
>>47740589
Wanna hear a really boring answer?
Even for one-shots/offs we play the games we are most familiar with: DnD, Shadowrun and our Fantasy Homebrew.
Call of Cthulhu also is a possibility, as it's easy enough even if you are unfamiliar with the rules.
So, I guess they're going to make a weekly or monthly Acq Inc series thing
Neat.

OP here,
