Which non-clan faction or character type is your favourite to create a character from?
For some reason, I've always been partial to the Ashalan.

If that isn't campaign central that is a weird choice for a game about magical samurai.

Oh, it's never happened, and it was explained that their techniques kind of suck if you're not immortal and high insight. Still something I'd like to play eventually.
Didn't see one active at the moment so let's get this one started right.
Anyone have The Book of Unremitting Horror?

Discussion of the Towergirls CYOA, RPG, Setting, or Video Game welcome here!
Everyone welcome.
FAQ:
Q - What is Towergirls?
A /tg/ creation. Read more here.
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Tower_Girls
Q - How do I play?
A - It's a CYOA, there are no established mechanics for the rescue. All the pages to the game are in the imgur album linked in resources.
Q - Why aren't/are we we working on; Fan Gen II/Knights/combat mechanics/etc.
A - No. We recognize that spreading out our efforts is what originally killed the project. Accordingly, we're focusing on just one thing at a time and finishing them out.
Q - Hey, can we make a pricness about X fetish?
A - It generally comes down to what people like. Propose the idea and see if others want it.
Q - Is there a map/unified setting?
A - Nope. Though proposals have been made, nothing concrete has been created.
Q - Can I post fanart/fanfiction here?
A - Go right on ahead, just make sure it's within the global rules.

Bolt Action: Empire in Flames
14th of June in military history:
1216 – First Barons' War: Prince Louis of France captures the city of Winchester and soon conquers over half of the Kingdom of England.
1285 – Second Mongol invasion of Vietnam: Forces led by Prince Trần Quang Khải destroy most of the invading Mongol naval fleet in a battle at Chuong Duong.
1287 – Kublai Khan defeats the traditionalist Borjigin princes in East Mongolia and Manchuria.
1381 – Richard II of England meets leaders of Peasants' Revolt on Blackheath. The Tower of London is stormed by rebels who enter without resistance.
1645 – English Civil War: Battle of Naseby – Royalist forces are beaten by Parliamentarian soldiers.
1667 – The Raid on the Medway by the Dutch fleet in the Second Anglo-Dutch War ends.
1775 – American Revolutionary War: the Continental Army is established by the Continental Congress, marking the birth of the United States Army.
1800 – Bonaparte defeats the Austrians at the Battle of Marengo in Northern Italy and re-conquers Italy.
1807 – The Grande Armée defeats the Russian Army at the Battle of Friedland in Poland ending the War of the Fourth Coalition.
1830 – Beginning of the French colonization of Algeria: 34,000 French soldiers begin their invasion of Algiers.
1846 – Bear Flag Revolt begins – Anglo settlers in Sonoma, California, start a rebellion against Mexico and proclaim the California Republic.
1863 – American Civil War: Second Battle of Winchester – a Union garrison is defeated by the Army of Northern Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley town of Winchester, Virginia.
1944 – World War II: After several failed attempts, the British Army abandons its plan to capture the German-occupied town of Caen.
1945 – World War II: Filipino troops liberate the Ilocos Sur and start the Battle of Bessang Pass in Northern Luzon.
1982 – Falklands War: Argentine forces in the capital Stanley conditionally surrender to British forces.
It is 371 years since the Battle of Naseby, a pivotal moment of the English Civil War. Prior to the battle there was no obvious indication that either Parliament nor the Royalists had any obvious military advantage over the other. However, the overwhelming defeat of the Royalists ended this and almost certainly doomed Charles I.
By May 1645, Charles had marched a large Royalist force north to attack a Parliamentarian force that was besieging Chester. News of the Royalists march north, led to a retreat by the Parliamentarian force commanded by Sir William Brereton. This took away from Charles an opportunity to demonstrate to Parliament the military superiority of the Royalist army. However, Charles was very keen to do this and he therefore decided to turn south and besiege the Parliamentarian town of Leicester. An attack on Leicester was, in fact, easy from the Royalist’s point of view. While it may have sent out a supposedly clear message to Fairfax, based in Oxford, about the strength and professionalism of the Royalists, it was a message that was clouded. The Royalists attacked Leicester with 12,000 men while there were only 2,000 defenders. The town’s defences lasted just three hours when the attack came on May 30th.
Boosted by this victory, Charles now targeted Oxford – his old capital now being besieged by Fairfax. Given the choice of continuing to besiege Oxford or taking on the advancing Royalists, Fairfax chose the latter. On June 3rd, Fairfax moved his men away from Oxford to confront the king.
Charles had faced dissent among the senior commanders in the Royalist force. Many Royalists felt that their cause would be better served if they moved north, defeated the Scots and then moved back south to tackle Fairfax. However, to Charles Oxford had a certain symbolism and he overruled any dissention. It is highly likely that he had got an exaggerated view of his army’s strength after the ease of his victory at Leicester.

But that's just you bringing your prejudices in from other systems/mythologies. One of the things I really like about Symbaroum is that it doesn't fall into the "all X are Y" kind of trap that you usually get with race selection in most TTRPGs; if I want to make a smart Ogre for RP reasons I don't have to deal with a mechanical penalty, but I may still have to consider the prejudices innate to the setting.
>>47757466
>Symbaroum General /smg/
Getting too cocky for your own good, Swedos.
>>47757584
It's not "system prejudice" or any imaginary thing like that, it's mythology. If I make a "vampire" that looks like a pink elephant, people will understandably be confused and critical of it because that's not a mythological vampire. Either stick to the mythology, or make your own monsters with your own made-up names. Applying mythological names to things that aren't like their mythological counterparts is nonsensical.
I've got a game with my group coming up Thursday, what should I play /tg/? I'm pretty open to anything and this setting looks great.
/tg/, how would you go about making a Risk of Rain game? System, setting, campaign plot, etc. What do you think would be the best approach?
Also, Risk of Rain slash weird sci-fi art dump.
>crew of a freighter
>crash on an alien planet
>escape pods separated from the ship, unable to get distress signal out
>survive against ever-more-powerful creatures while discovering secrets of native alien life while you try to get to the wreckage so you can maybe, just maybe, make it out alive
>end up fighting a powerful alien being that caused the freighter to crash in the first place
Could be fun as a general framework, but the DM would have to do a lot of heavy lifting. Risk of Rain's lore is not exactly that campaign-filling.

I had an idea about making a game where [player] arrives later, after the Survivor lost against providence. Now [player] has to figure the story out unknowing of the full dangers of the planet.
Perhaps it be good for a one shot?

It feels weird, laying on a bed that isn't rocking back and forth. I stare up at the ceiling of my dorm room, my eyes aching as Ajax lays on my chest, letting me scratch his ears gently as I sort of just float in my tiredness. It's been awhile since we've been back to the base, and I haven't slept since Grampa told me that Ginegin wants to transfer me out somewhere else. I mean I've passed out several times, but all my nightmares are the same, a sea of paper swallowing me up and sending pieces of me away to different far off islands.
I close my eyes, my ears ringing as the sounds of my comrades and friends celebrating reaches my ears. There's nothing to do in this fort, since Captain has ordered me not to go do any work, and has practically banned me from the armory to stop me from laboring on my extended break.
Sure I can train, but...there's no real point is there, when everyone else is having a good ol time. And I'm laying in my room, wondering if I should go or not. Gramps said he could bend some corners and get my friends to come with me but....I don't know.
It all just feels like a dream, I think. I haven't had one in so long I've forgotten what it feels like to not spend the night terrified and out of breath in my own head.
Well, at least the islanders like Serri, even if I'm sure they're treating it nicely because they don't want to piss of a sea king.
I giggle, and groan, putting my pillow over my face. And a second later, Ajax decides to lay down on it, putting a pressure down on it that gently suffocates me while I lay here, sweating and worryingly my head about something I should be excited about.

As was chosen during the previous thread's last turn, we've worked together with the Faith of Oofnar, in particular the Order of St. Roise, in order to get religious institutions to help our communities in areas such as healthcare and social aid. Aside from that, religious teachings preach unity among our people, keeping the thoughts of secession away from the faithful.

The year is 1875. Ten years have passed since the end of the American Civil War and the beginning of Reconstruction for the country. Yet some wounds are slow to heal, with resentment and anger simmering among the disenfranchised and weary. In these tumultuous and uncertain times, it is hard to say how one’s future shall play out.
The Western Frontier offers new beginnings and opportunities for those seeking second chances, but it is a harsh and unforgiving mistress. Just as she gives, the frontier takes away, uncaring and indifferent to the lamentations of those left behind. Bandits, cattle rustlers, coyotes and other malcontents of supernatural origin prey upon those unable to defend themselves. In this lawless land, it’s a world of strength where might (and a good shooting arm) ultimately makes right.
You are Annette Turner,a twenty-five year old rancher that was until recently, living an otherwise normal American life with your family. But the life you knew was cruelly torn away from you when a demon of fire killed your husband and daughter in a steamboat explosion, leaving you confused, distraught, and a chip on your shoulder as heavy as the world itself.
After burying them, you made the fateful choice to cut ties with the remainder of your family and travel with Jonathan O’Donnell, American gunslinger and leader of the Devil Busters. It is though his power and tutelage that you hope to amass enough power to slay the monster that killed your loved ones.
But how far will you go to get the justice that they deserve?
[???]
“With this final tribute, we now have enough magnetite to present to the Master. Doubtless, he will be most pleased with our endeavors thus far.”
“Perhaps. But I am not pleased with the quality. Had we more time, we could have doubtless extracted a more refined product. And the subjects our minions have brought are…not the most ideal of specimens. We would have had better prospects had we been sent to the East.”
“Quantity is very much its own quality. And even in the event that our liege should find it to be unsatisfactory, we can refine our tribute into a purer distillation. And as for our location, the frontier of the New World gives us the liberty to go about our business with little concern for discretion.”
“You say that, but I have heard no tales of organized demon hunters towards the Atlantic.”
“You are referring to the Devil Busters, are you not?”
“Of course. When last I checked, they are the only organized group of humans to actively hunt and destroy any demon they can find.”
“The key words are ‘can find’, and I would think that we have done more than a satisfactory job of keeping ourselves hidden.”
“Sooner or later, we will run out of proxies to go about doing our dirty work. Just an hour ago, one of our scouts came back to report that another of their fellows went and fell off a cliff.”
“The sad cost of our business, I’m afraid, yet a price we can most certainly afford to pay. I do not mean to disparage against them, but I weigh our lives to be heavier than theirs. We are destined for greater purposes than to be scrabbling among the humans to eke our living ourselves.”
“Aye, so we are. Now tell me, what is the status of the weapon? I would think that the vessel I personally discovered to be the perfect container for the Spirit of Madness.”
(cont.)
“Suitable, and most opportune. Demons though we may be, but I have no desire to personally bloody my claws with the blood of an innocent. That is the work of lesser, more brutish beings. But I digress to your point. Yes, the vessel is suitable.”
“My friend, I am sensing a complication.”
“It is nothing distressing. Minor burns, some broken bones, and some small amount of decomposition, but nothing that magnetite and ritual cannot repair. The container was in excellent condition all things considered. I applaud the work of mortal burial rites.”
“You are the scholar and the scientist between us. I shall not question, but only urge for you to take the utmost care. One mistake, and our existences are forfeit. We only have but one shot to unfetter the shackles that bind us to the Master, and all of our chances are on the weapon.”
“My dear, Belial, have you ever known me to be careless in my procedures? No, we shall be on our most vigilant. I will not see us serve another year under that Scapegoat’s oppressive bootlick.”
“And the weapon? What shall we do with it when all is said and done?”
“One step at a time. But we must prepare. Summon the congregation and prepare the sacrifices. The Master soon comes, and both ourselves and the weapon must be ready to receive him.”
