How powerful are the Arbites as a military force?
>>54903232
Imagine the reports of US police in the news, make them twenty times more trigger happy, and then make them a galaxy-wide law keeping organization with a blanket legal allowance to shoot on sight.
>>54903250
that has very little to do with them as a military force
i think you just wanted to shoehorn in a US police joke
>>54903250
I'd say it's more of a Gestapo combined with a lite-Waffen SS
American cops are pretty tame, it's just that they're constantly compared to the police of nations with little to no violent crime
Is being captured by the Dark Eldar the worst fate in 40k?
The worst is tripping over and falling into a pain glove with nobody around to turn it off
>>54902501
>that baby shit
it doesent even keep you alive to sustain your torture through the millenia- thats chump change in commoragh

Close second to being tormented by daemons.
I am getting back into RPG's again and having a great time. I played dnd in high school but now have played some other stuff that I think is a bit better.
Curious, what are some great entry level RPGs? preferably rules light. I would like to show some of my friends and lady friend RPGs in the hopes they want to try some other stuff. Definitely heavier on role playing and light on combat.
Some that are immediately interesting are Fiasco and Fate.
Curious if Paranoia would be a good one as well.
>>54899939
I hear PbtA is a good kick off point for a lot of people. Run a Mad Max style game and you'll probably get them onboard.
>>54899939
GURPS Ultra-Lite is one page long and free.
>>54899939
Fiasco is not really entry level. It is more its own, separate thing.
Fate Accelerated works well.
Paranoia is not really entry level, either, thanks to the rules of the game being beyond the players' security clearance.
Apocalypse World, Ryuutama and Shinobigami are all very beginner-friendly, particularly on the GM's side.
Has anybody else noticed this? I already had problems with the Primaris, like them being Mary Sues and their design lacking anything grim, dark, cyber, gothic, or punk. But I think this really confirms that they're unnecessary.
They are just newer truescale space marines but with GW trying to avoid the fallout of invalidating everyone's old models.
>>54899645
They should have just been a new mark of power armor and bolters with the same rules as the old ones. But I guess GW was trying to do some AoS shit and had to backtrack once they found out people hated AoS.
They're fluff aberrations that can't exist alongside the preexisting marines.
Does your setting have famous units of renown, elite brotherhoods and grand orders that are known far and wide?
Playing a game set in a modern day prison. The Guards are pretty elite, given their equipment and stuff.
Its badass.
>>54895379
The First Legion.
It's 3/10ths the size of a regular legion, but exclusively tasked with guarding the capital of the not!Roman Republic. Therefore they're pretty bad motherfuckers. I'm also considering having this elite 'legion' have its own elite units (elite among the elite) but I don't have any ideas yet.
>>54895379
Yes! They're known as the Lumenaires, the revered Knights of the Sun who serve as both bodyguard and agent of the Not!French throne, more specifically under the command of the Solaire, the heir apparent.
Last time I started a thread the resonance was disappointing tbqh. Maybe this time we have more luck.
Anyone here who has played it? Stories and experiences very welcome.
I might give it a shoot. I am thinking about a group off minor nobles that are on a journey to get rich and to "acquire" some holdings. The PCs are either all Mistborns and/or Mistlings. They do some shenanigans and possibly acquire their own land.
Then the Lord Ruler dies and both Shards splinter because they fight it out ("slight" lore changes).
The Last Empire totally fractures after that. The great noble houses establish their own fiefdoms, House Venture is the strongest controlling vast lands and the capital.
The Skaa shake off surpression at some places and consolidate some independent republics after successfull uprisings.
Some Obligators instead of working together with the Nobles establishes theocratic dictatorships. They try to surpress the growth of new religions and to enforce the laws the Lord Ruler left behind. They try to sell the death of the Lord Ruler as a test of faith to weed out the unbelievers. Once thats achieved the Lord Ruler will return to reward the faithful...
Between that sou have Steel Inquisitors and Kandra and Koloss armies joining factions or following their own interests.
The PCs ofc quickly become entangled in this as key political figures...

Jeez louiz /tg/ really seems to hate mistborn/sanderson.
I've heard very mixed things about the actual writing. And given the page count and theoretical size of the universe, I'm reluctant to give it a shot. Fantasy doorstoppers are rarely any good in my experience. GoT, Wheel of Time, etc. are all mostly dreck.
>>54893163
I like the system's character generation and the 'magic' stuff in it. I just am not a huge fan of the original setting because I feel I couldn't properly recreate it.
And when I really get into it, a lot of what I want to do in the setting can be done with FATE.

Which 3 games from your collection couldn't you live without?
What would you say are some of the most underrated (be it ratings or popularity) games of the last couple of years?

In a universe where gods are very clearly real and very obviously capable of granting their followers divine power, why would any reasonable person not be devoutly religious?
Also, Paladin/Cleric thread
>>54892467
Because some Gods have very high standards and some people have problems with the members of the religion, like a fanatic adventurer burning your family alive for being apostates or something.
Some will not follow out of faith, but out of fear.
>>54892467
>very obviously capable of granting their followers divine power
This is where you fucked up.
You are implying that gaining that power is as simple as going to church on the Sabbath and saying your prayers every night.
let me start the list
>princess bride
obvious
>lotr trilogy
>princess mononoke
>lupin III and the castle of cagliostro
>>54887915
Firefly?
Is captain Alatriste /tg/ approved?
I don't watch anime, is there an alternate list?
Have you inserted something, obvious or hidden, into your setting or player character that relates to your magical realm?
>>54887383
High-cut, underboob, stockings, armpit?
Does it count if it's an ERP where literally everybody is doing that, openly and intentionally?
>>54887383
Only the occasional incest among the mages, the aristocracy or the peasantry, tied to magical power and bloodlines.

P.S. - Remember, We are Better than all of the rest of the horrible internet and Good Manners ALWAYS gets more results. Wise up or please go elsewhere.
If you have a fancy pdf that has unwanted clutter on it, here is one way to clean it.
Contact our resident Transmutation Wizard and politely ask him to clean a pdf. He will set his scrying device to accept pdfs and then you ship it to him. Magic occurs, then the pdf is purified.

By the way, Thanks Mageguru, you're the Best!
Check out Da Curated Archive to see what's in it.
Pick a game or small publisher you like that’s not too big and complete it as best you can easily.
Upload the pdfs somewhere. Hunt for and request the missing things. If it gets taken down, put it up again later. Using indirect links seems to work for Mageguru.

The fortnightly Storythread returns, ready to bring quality, thought provoking literature to the masses of /tg/. And also elf smut, if past threads are any indication.
This is a thread for creative writing of /tg/-related fiction, so epic campaign greentexts and other non-fiction go elsewhere. If you have /tg/ related stories to post, post them here, and hopefully some kind anon will give you feedback (or at least acknowledge that someone did actually read it, which let's face it is what writefags really want).
What counts as /tg/-related? Anything someone could plausibly use in a campaign (which means basically anything if you have enough imagination).
If you don't have a story ready then I and other anons will be posting pictures throughout the thread for you to test your writing skills on. This is, more or less, a world-building and character-building exercise: two vital skills for playing roleplaying games. If you don't have any pics to post, you could try posting an idea for a setting or a character, and maybe someone will be willing to write a story using it. It's also an exercise in writing though, where writefags can try out their material and gain inspiration, so if you just want to talk about world-building you may want to head over to the dedicated world-building threads.
Remember that writefags love to have feedback on their work. Writing takes a long time, especially stories that go over several posts, and it can be really depressing when no one even seems to read it (and the writer won't know you read it unless you leave a comment).
And since writing takes a long time remember to keep the thread bumped. Pics are good, feedback is better.
There is a discord for writers:

What does it mean when a card sais "mana abilities"?
Like tapping lands and generating mana?
Or is it mean that for example I can pay mana to activate an enchantment or a creature ability?
Here you go, anon.
>>54915359
Mana ability is everything that's written as "[Soemthing] : Add X to your mana pool".
So tapping land for mana is a mana ability, tapping manadorks too, saccing a dude to ashnod/phrexian altar, and even "Selvala, Explorer returned" has a mana ability.
>>54915458
Why would split second allow mana abilities to be denied..
But I guess with your selvala example, you can win 1 life before getting hit by the 2 damage...
