Okay
Going to be running a game in the next couple months in Portland OR.
Premise is that in addition to the existing complexities of 2e there is going to be an economy, inflation, multiple currencies, futures trading, scarcity caused by dragon attacks, or invading hordes.
In addition to traditional alignments there are going to be banks and corporate loyalties. (Sponsored wizards who you can hire for a percent of your dungeon haul?) Free markets are a beautiful thing!!
1. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions as you are an insideous and creative lot.
2. I am going to be generating 1500 3x5 cards with random events, and 200 with nonrandom, BBEG planned events, and having them come up on rolls (sometimes the players will know about them, sometimes they won't, they are mainly for moving the economy, and economic indicators, things like bridges washing out) does that seem like a dick DM move?
Thanks.
Bump?

> Premise is that in addition to the existing complexities of 2e there is going to be an economy, inflation, multiple currencies, futures trading, scarcity caused by dragon attacks, or invading hordes. It's called a trainwreck.
How are you going to pull it off?
> 1. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions as you are an insideous and creative lot.
Yeah. Thought so.
Another question: do you or you players have any economic education?
Please don't tell me you're going to be basing item prices off the wealth in the 2e books
You got some? Share yours! I like seeing all kinds of weird misprints and so on

Anon, those are not misprints, they're just misaligned cuts.
With the US Dollar holding at 1.37 to the Pound Sterling who's making some big Forgeworld orders?
I don't see them honoring that change. Just because the trade value changes doesn't mean suddenly everything you buy is going to be cheaper in two days. After all even Paypal is still at $0.70 to a Pound
>>47971681
Forge World doesn't have to honor shit, they bill in pounds sterling and your credit card company processes the currency conversion. There's usually a nominal surcharge, up to 3% of the total transaction, depending on the card; some cards for international travelers specifically do not and these are the cards you want to buy your Forge World with.
As for me, I'm waiting until the pound hits $1.25 and buying a Warlord Titan.

>With the US Dollar holding at 1.37 to the Pound Sterling
It's not doing that though
This is just a guess, and a long shot at that, but... something sort of bothered me the other day when I was looking at past, present, and future sets of magic. Recently the Eldrazi have taken the role as the major antagonist in the storyline and have made a fairly large impact overall. Now since WotC has decided to make blocks only 2 sets a piece, it seems like they are cramming a lot of story into a single block. Again, this is just speculation, but what if they decide to stop the whole 'jumping around from the viewpoint of planeswalker to planeswalker', and start to stick with a steady perspective of a group of characters, i.e. Jace, Gideon, Chandra, Nissa, and Ugin? If for some reason this might be true, wouldn't that also mean that the Eldrazi could possibly linger into another block, or even two? Perhaps even future blocks, if left unresolved? I was looking at this set symbol for Aether Revolt, which is the second set in the upcoming Kaledesh block. To you all, does this symbol seem at all reminiscent of an Eldrazi? From an aesthetic standpoint, what is the one thing the Eldraz titansi all have in common? Tentacles. And the first thing I saw when looking at this symbol were tentacles. I also see how this could be a flower or... something, but I guess it just caught me off guard. What do you all think? Will we be seeing Eldrazi in near future sets, or am I just a crazy person?
>>47971336
Also, share what kinds of cards, characters, and major plot points that you think will be in the next block.
the new sets will have reprints of the basic lands
and get this
DIFFERENT ART
so save up some money if you wanna get on that before the price goes down
trust me im the president and ceo of wotc

>but what if they start to stick with a steady perspective of a group of characters, i.e. Jace, Gideon, Chandra, Nissa?
This is already happening. Expect at lest 1/2 blocks to follow at least one member of the Gatewatch. Most old characters will start interacting more and more with them too.
That doesn't mean we'll follow the Gatewatch all the time like we followed the Weatherlight. But they'll be the main protagonists of the narrative from this point onwards.
Could the Eldrazi linger into another block, or even two? Perhaps even future blocks, if left unresolved?
Emrakul dies / is neutralized this block. But we might yet witness another Rise of the Eldrazi in the far future. Absolutely not in the next two blocks though.
Finally, that set symbol does not look Eldrazi in the least. It's clearly emulating both a lotus-like flower and a flame because Pyromancy is going to be a key plot point in the Kaladesh block.
>>47971358
Chandra is pretty much confirmed as the protagonist of Kaladesh. Other people that might show up:
>Gideon

So, in a lot of anime/manga, the main character always to have some big plate of material strapped to their thigh as protection. Is there any historical basis to this? Would it actually work? Wouldn't you want protection on the inside of your thigh instead, where a very important vein is?

Can you post more examples?

Satanic trips say it's possible.
It's possible, but it likely would only be fun in terms of morbid curiosity, like watching a trainwreck.

Are there any good books with Tieflings as the main character?
>>47968125
I haven't read the books myself, but Brimstone Angels series has Tiefling sisters as the main characters:

>>47968716
I've read them. They're nothing super special. If you like the other forgotten realms stuff you'll probably enjoy them. But don't go into it expecting a masterpiece.
>>47968716
2011-2015 publishing dates.
Are they set in the train-wreck of Forgotten Realms that was hand-waved for 4th edition?

>"And they will know no fear"
Fear is an emotion created by millions of years of natural selection to make beings aware of and assess risks, dangers and hazards. It's function is legitimate. A being which pays no heed to environmental risks and hazards (particularly in a hazardous environment such as a battlefield) will have a reduced survival quality. That fear carries risks in of itself, such as being locked in a cycle of fear which leads to panic and an inability to function, does not negate the utility of the drive. No more than the risk of a steam engine's boiler exploding due to a massive pressure buildup negates it's utility. Deleting fear is akin to removing a steam engine's governor or a car's radiator.

Space marines are all defective because they are made out of retarded emp's Turk sperm. They're basically cucks for sand people and they want big emp's gene seed inside them.
"and they won't be impelled by their base instincts overcoming their ideals and training" just wasn't as catchy.
>>47967561
It doesn't mean they're retarded or suicide runners, OP. They know how invaluable even a rookie marine is and they put a lot of prep into any conflict they enter. Just as they don't wonder around a space hulk thinking they're invincible. I know there are fanatical chapters out there but there wouldn't be any chapters left if they generally didn't recognize a bad situation and bugged out.
So I've been looking at some 40k art recently and a question popped up.
What the fuck are the tubes going into the face/head for?! A lot of people just have them and there only purpose is to fuck their shit up from what I can tell.

What would you say is the most broken RP system? The one with the most loop-holes, game breaking interactions or obscure abusable rules? From what I've heard, D&D 3.5e seems to be the main one but that only get broken when you go through all the supplements, so I was wondering if there's one that utterly breaks sooner.
>>47966655
The most unbalanced and broken book of 3.5 is Core. Splats are actually more balanced.
>>47966655
I don't think dnd is nearly as broken as people seem to want it to be. It is still pretty broken though, but it doesn't come close to some games.
Palladium is the absolute worst broken, insane mess of rules and lore.
D&D 3.5 isn't really broken. It suffers from caster supremacy and it CAN be broken, but really its the divergent rules systems that hurt it most, and feat chains.
I still prefer it to 5e because of the options.
An alliance between 3.5 and 5e would be the most powerful game system ever to exist. It would rape every previous edition except maybe AD&D.
5e is nothing like AD&D, it has too much class feature bullshit to even come close.
Solving a dice
okay, so from this thread
>>47962039
I've decided to try and figure out what possible shape dexter's dice could take if it were 3-D
now I've cut out the shapes we can see, paint is horrible at making shapes by the way, and the dice isn't symmetrical, or if it is, it's curved in some way
so what could be used to fill the gap? the dice has a range from at least 2, to 49
