Do-It-Yourself Living Saint edition

Continuation of >>48009418

The latest edition of /tg/'s 7th edition AdSor update is up and can be downloaded here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4BtLTIkWwtAUnAtNlBQb3llU0k

Patch Notes:
- Added Arch-confessor Kyrinov
- Added a DIY Living Saint HQ unit. Only one Living Saint (including Celestine) may be taken in a SoB army.
- Fixed Celestian's WS and Ld. Celestians now come with Artificer armour stock, and cost 100 pts/squad and 20 pts/model.
- Canoness artificer armour cost increased to 20 pts
- Frateris Militia are now WS/BS 2, improvised armour, and 3 pts/model. Any model in the squad can be upgraded to Veteran Frateris Milita for 2 pts/model. Veterans have WS/BS 3 and flak armour.
- Frateris Militia may now replace their autoguns with shotguns for free
- Frateris Militia now have access to RPG Launchers, which are basically 36" Heavy versions of grenade launchers (based off of the ones from Dark Heresy).

- Kyrinov may replace a Priest in any eligible formation.
- Living Saints may be taken with the Order Command formation.
- Hospitallers may now be taken with the Sororitas Mission formation.
- Canonesses and Living Saints may be taken with the Angelic Host formation if they have a jump pack or Wings of Deliverance.

- The Neural Whip now lowers the Initiative of all units with Ld 8 or below by D3, to a minimum of 1.
- Added Relics of the Ecclesiarchy. Took out the Mace of Valaan since Kyrinov has it.
- Added Cherubim rules. Cheribum may taken with Living Saints, Canonesses, Priests, and Hospitallers.
- Added Living Saint relics

- Lots of general organization and typo fixes, along with new pictures for almost everyone that didn't have a unique one.

As always, critique is welcomed. Once we reach a consensus on points costs and such, I think we'll be ready to start playtesting.

Also forgot to mention in the patch notes:
- The Ecclesiarchy Battle Contingent has been renamed to the Faithful Throng
- The Sacred Retribution Wing now has special rules: all units in the formation get TL when firing at enemies withing 6" of an objective and whenever two or more units in the formation fire at the same target, they get Pinning.

What's your most memorable campaign/character, /tg/?

Mine is simple, but it the campaign was one of the most fun I had.

World: Human only (fantasy monsters exist), magic potential is only for those who were born with it (Sorcerers) or if they make pacts with Outsiders (Warlocks). Clerics were house-ruled to be renamed Warlocks (but could access normal Cleric spells), so no armour, no maces, they were more like priests (only cloth and staff). Mages suffer a lot of discrimination and are either forced to hide their powers, so a lot never learn to properly control their powers (thus leading to more fear and witch-hunts).

>DnD 3.5
>Just started with PnP games, so still a novice
>Roll a spear-wielding sorceror
Backstory: Son of a former soldier and guardsman in a small village, trained by his father in the arts of combat but then awakened to his magical talent. The villagers found out, organized a militia and lynched his father while he fled. His mother died in childbirth.
With only his rusty spear in his hands, he set out to the world.

The campaign wasn't anything special, but it was lots of fun.
Party consisted of;
>Me, the Spearcerer
>A knight, send to investigate on why dragon cults start preparing for the end times
>Cleric, worships a god of justice
>Rogue, gave us cover fire with a crossbow

The knight was a standard Fighter, by the way.

>First session, we all meet in a road-side inn, and clear a kobold cave who worship some dragon god and are raiding nearly lands
>They have gathered tribute for when he returns, but we slaughter them, take the valuables and return to get out rewards

After this, we pretty much kept traveling to everywhere trouble seemed to be brewing.

>Knight and Cleric both needed to learn more about what kind of disaster (might) happen for their causes
>Rogue was simply in it for the gold
>My character was searching for other sorcerers to teach him more about magic

So we eventually came across what was the cause for all the chaos; an ancient dragon, who was defeated yet never properly killed, was about to wake up from his restorative slumber.
The dragon-worshipers felt him waking up and started preparing by gathering offers and tributes.

While most sessions were
>travel here
>clear forts/caves there
>save X
>recover Y
the last few sessions we had to try to stop the reawakening from happening.

We made our way to a kingdom's capital, where we got an audience with the king. The knight eventually gained his trust, so we found out that, in ancient times, this dragon was fucked up hard by the kingdom's founder, who founded his castle right under the mountain where the dragon's lair was.
Because he was too weak after the fight to finish it, he fled, and simply claimed he had slain the dragon and established his Warrior-Kingship on that mountain (hoping his descendants would deliver the coup de grace).
Since the mountain was impossible to climb due to the damage done to it (and the fact that the cave system was overrun with molten rock), nobody could ever dispute this claim.

When the dragon simply never returned, they had guessed that it succumbed from the wounds and it simply faded from royal business.

cont.
>>
Well, turns out it wasn't dead, and it wanted revenge.
As we made our way up to the mountain, slaughtering countless kobolds and other cultists, we eventually found entrances to the mountain's hollow insides, however, it was overflowing with the molten rock, thus impossible to enter.

We then tried to climb outside the mountain.
Didn't work, so we had started bickering over what to do.
While we were busy conversing, the dragon suddenly roared.
Like a mountain-shaking roar.

After me and the Cleric casted Haste on the party, we ran as fast as we could to the city.

The city, however, was overrun by dragon cultists and kobolds wreaking havoc, slaughtering townsfolk and gathering gold as tribute for the dragon.
We tried to clear out the areas we could, making our way to the royal keep.
Battle between dragon and us ensued once we arrived at the keep.

>Rogue is running around, shoots the shit out of the dragon but it keeps raining hell upon everything so he can't stand still for a second
>Knight is pretty fucked because he doesn't have a ranged weapon
>I'm throwing spells left and right, attempting to damage the dragon but I'm p fucked if I get hit by his breath attack
>Cleric uses his spells to support us

>We eventually manage to ground it, Knight starts to fight this thing in melee range, gets pretty fucked up by tail sweeps and wing smacks
>I manage to run out of spells to cast
>Cleric uses his small amount of damaging spells but it doesn't make a difference

>It starts to fly again, but it's considerably weakened
>Rogue shoots his last bolt before bolting himself
>Cleric heals the Knight, has little to no spells left
>Knight decides to slash it when it comes down to swoop
>Dragon dives to attack him, he dodges successfully and slashes it
>He now comes for me, I'm fucked
>Dives, opens his jaw to roar
"I throw my spear in it's mouth.
>Roll 19
>Just as I throw, the dragon uses his fire breath
>I do not manage to dodge

Why is the emporer so powerful if he is made up of only a few hundred shaman souls?

Thousands of Psychers are sacrificed everyday to the Golden throne alone.

Also why is he so retarded? Read the last church and he actualy thinks like a child.

Bad writing or intentional?

If I were to write a relatively fleshed out campaign setting, could I potentially sell it? Would anyone buy it? What all would it need to have for anyone to give a shit?

Or is it one of those "if you build it, they will come" type of things?
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>48049476
Write the base setting out and set it as "Pay What You Like"

Then charge for expanded content. But don't make it unreasonable or no one will buy anything.

Think of it like DLC.
>>
What systemare you writing for anyway?
>>
It's hard to make a buck as a fantasy writer aye?

I think coming alongside with a robust ruleset is always the best way to sell a setting; and/or having a lot of prepackaged resources already figured out, like town/dungeon layouts and stats for important persons and quest hooks.

Getting some hype for the setting through something like a series of fantasy novels or webcomics set in the universe is a good start.

Can your current character pull off high heels?

What the fuck jack. Is this how you learned to jump good?

/Lit/ are pretentious fags than hate fun, so /tg/ best books for getting ideas for your games?
I will post some of the ones than I liked.
Conan the Barbarian, cool setting, one of the origian fantasy murderhobos and very fun to read about.
Farfhard and the Grey mouser: Barbarian and thief/swordsmen duo of bad asses, another must for anyone than likes fantasy old school.
Dying earth and anything Jack Vance: You know vancian magic? This is the first time it appears. Awesome settings too, lots of crazy shit and full of Adventure.
Chronicles of Dragolance: How a good DnD game should go. I loved it as a teen, draconians, dragons anda paladin nation, but they gave us cancer. Or kenders.
The First law: Meh setting, awesome characters. Gloom but full of rythm.
The Second Apocalipsis: This one or you love it or hate it. Not for easy to offend people, the setting is awesome but the characters are some of the shittiest people ever. I could only emphatize with one and he was pitiful.
Brandon Sanderson: Awesome setting, not so hot characters, the Way of kings is awesome in a shonen way.
The Traitor Son: Knights mercs, wild monsters and a world full of magic than is kinda of a lazy real world but not. I loved it, the dude liked his medieval combat and it made it come alive nicely.
David Eddings: Formulaic and kinda of previsible, but I read his books like an american eat burgers.

Feel free to post your prefered books, obscure but good shit. Like Blood monster tattoo. Monsters, Pre-Napoleonic tech weaposn and amrour with lots of biotech. Monsters everywhere and an author with a love for obscure words and to make new words. Pretty cool for a young teen book, lots of quality in world building.

NPCs by Drew Hayes: When a group of Player Characters die in a Tavern, a group of NPCs have to take their place in an attempt to keep their insane King from finding out about their deaths and bringing doom to their village.

I didn't have high expectations for the book going in, but I actually fell in love with it for some reason.

This is a book /k/ is making fun of. Here are some of the highlights.

>William S. Lind (born July 9, 1947) is an American monarchist, paleoconservative, columnist, Christian, and a light rail enthusiast.

Preface

>The state upheld its unpleasant responsibility of setting torch to faggots, was what marked this as an act of Recovery

Chapter 1

>We lost a lot of guys on Iwo, and they were men, not women. Of course, these were the years of “political correctness.” Our colonel was running for general, and he figured he could kiss ass by being “sensitive to issues of race, gender, and class.”

Chapter 5

>The scum depended on them; no lawyers, no scum (a point we have enshrined in Victorian law, where you must represent yourself in court).

> Boyd was the greatest American military theorist of the 20th century

Chapter 8

>“And in the Marine tradition, I propose a toast, gentlemen,” I concluded. “To the Christian Marine Corps, and confusion to our enemies.” Appropriately, it was drunk in Sam Adams beer.

Chapter 11

>Books like Martin van Creveld’s 'The Transformation of War' had opened quite a few minds.

>Fedora Man
>Who, I would like to point out to those who didn't read Chapter 10, actually wears a fedora and LARP's some idealized version of the late 1940s with his family.

Chapter 12

>“Because Don and the rest of the gays have me by the balls, that’s why,” Hokem said. “Well, not that way, but you know what I mean.”

Chapter 13

>“Ms.” Lateesha Umbonga LaDrek, the Secretary of HUD

>I don't necessarily disagree with Lind, but when he puts it this way it's pretty autistic
>\thread t b h

>Like the Russian BMP, the Bradley was an explosion waiting to happen, a tin-clad rolling armor dump that any anti-tank weapon instantly turned into a Viking funeral for its crew.
>>
>But his Secretary of Defense wanted to say something. She had represented Harlem in Congress, and after her defeat by a Black Muslim candidate the administration had given her the defense job to maintain her visibility; she was one of its biggest supporters in the black community. The 42nd Division was her baby – in fact, she had carried several of its babies, until the abortionist had restored her shapely figure – and she wanted it to have its chance to shine.

>“Mr. President,” said the Honorable Kateesha Mowukuu, “I am the only black woman at this table. We have heard what these white men have to say. I would remind you that in this war, white men are our enemy. Now you will hear what a black woman has to say, and I expect all of you to listen with respect.”

>“Black people have been the only warriors in history. White men can’t fight. It’s because their noses are too small. Courage comes from the nose, not the heart, as the African spiritual healers you call witch doctors have long understood. That’s why black people eat their snot. What do you white folk do with your snot? You wrap it up in a little white surrender flag and put it in your pocket. So you don’t have no courage.”

>“All the great warriors in history have been black. Caesar was a black man, and so was his enemy, Hannibal. The Spartans were black. They just dyed their hair blond, to fool their enemies into thinking they were weak white people. Charlemagne was a black man. In French, ʻcharlemagneʼ means ‘kinky hair.’ The Vikings came from Africa, which is where they got those helmets with horns on them. Gunpowder was invented by ancient Zimbabwean scientists, who made it from elephant shit. You ever hear an elephant fart? Black scientists knew there had to be some juju behind that.”

How come greater heshe daemon mindfuckery doesn't affect marines as much as regular cannon fodder?

Are there any accounts of mooks taking down Greater Daemons of Slaanesh / the other three?
13 posts and 3 images submitted.

Also does their mindfuckery interact with rival greater daemons?

The selection process for marines means that only some of the most strong-willed humans are selected, who gain even stronger wills through mundane training and hypno-indoctrination.
>>48048261
Daemons do not have a gender. They are not conceived by biological reproduction but are instead formed in the warp by emotions.

Where do you like to place your player's characters in terms of power? I know it depends on the settings but what do YOU find most interesting.

A) They're far more skilled than the average person and those who match or surpass their strength are considered as extraordinary as they are.

B) They're just as equal in strength as those around them. The level 6 paladin is just 1 in several hundred numbers of other level 6 paladins.

C) Your characters are considered weak in a cruel and unforgiving world where most of the things they go after are quite stronger than they are.

The forces of Chaos are pushing towards Holy Terra. Four chapters of the Adeptus Astartes have answer the call to push them back: The Pretty Marines and their army of squealing teenage girls, the Reasonable Marines and their logical tactics, the fearson Angry Marines and their insatiable RAEG, and the Potato Marines, with their unshakable faith in the Emperor.

Explore how each chapter interacts with the others. Use info from 1d4chan and what you remember from the threads that generated these chapters, or create new fluff for the chapters.
