"What?" I ask, tilting my head as I turn away from the ship that's going to be taking me to my new assignment, dropping the bag I've been carrying slung over my shoulder as I look down the small and only dock Popa island has, a wimpy, moss and ivy covered concrete foot sticking out of the beach.
And I keep staring for awhile, even with Ochamu practically sleeping against me, still wearing her pajamas. Honestly I'm a little dumbfounded, and frown as I feel tears starting to burn my eyes.
For standing in front of me, is the entirerty of the 83rd branch. Ginegin's standing at the front, in full armor, holding his massive sawtoothed sword above his head, with Baldrick standing next to him, with a funny little smirk as he holds up a sign that reads simply "Good luck, Adela, Don't forget us"
Wanko is in the front, standing next to jace, and judging from how they're dressed, both of them have been promoted to at least Petty officer. Wanko is wearing a collar and dog eared hood, and Jace is wearing a colorful bag of a hat, and a pair of far to small sunglasses.
And both are saluting, in a very proper manner I might add, with rifles.
Behind them are the cookies, with old jace at the front, most of them looking like possessed dead from all the smoke spewing out of their red faces....guess they tried to eat some of the few reapers we had left. I sniffle as I see that they're holding a hefty jar of a few pickled ones.
I freeze up...I can't move an inch, even when Jack comes and leans against me, smiling smugly.
The rest of the marines, and the townsfolk are cheering now, and firing off a few small fireworks as they laugh happily, shouting "Evil eye" "Good on ya" "Who's the best" "that De'terrar girl " and much more, a few even tossing hatchets in the air as Jeb watches from the edge of the mob.

I don't say anything, as I start to cry, shuddering as the cheers start to pitter out.
Capn takes his sword and slams it into the ground, with enough force to knock everyone except Baldrick, and me and Jack since Ochamu is holding us up. The waves and the small ship behind us shake.
"HEY DON'T!" the leading officer on it, from the 21st begins to scream.
Ginegin rips his helmet off and glares at him, and for a moment, I feel that pressure from before, as the officer passes out. Ginegin grins his trademark grin, as everyone else scrambles to get back on to their feet.
"Hey, Adela" He says, like he's talking to an old friend as I try to stop myself from breaking down anymore, as his armor, teeth, and bald scalp shine in the morning sun "...Honestly, if it was anyone else, I'd tell you to be careful...but well...I have a feeling you'll find just as much, if not more fear over there, than out here. But...But if you ever think you're going to die, remember, I'll skin ya and fill you with salt if you do, Brabrabrabra"
Everyone stares at him, and he keeps laughing for awhile.
I try to smile, but it comes up all crooked, and I can only imagine what they're all seeing.
"Ah, who am I kidding, you wouldn't let yourself die long as there was a job you needed to get done" He says, almost wistfully as he leans against his sword "Just promise me, next time we meet, share another drink with all of us, for old times sake, even if you're an admiral by then"
"Which you seem to be heading to" Baldrick says "Just don't give gine any slack here when you do get there"
"Hrrrr" Capn growls "if anything I'll be back to a chore boy by that time"
"Oooh, Ooh think I'd be a captain by then?" Wanko asks "And..Good luck Adela, I didn't talk with you much but...you're not as scary as you look"
"I'd say you are, but...nice enough when you're not in a mood" Jace says with a shrug "Me and the rest of the boys got some of those peppers you like..
>>48063243
.just so you don't go crazy out there"
Cont
"Yeah, the sea is a lonely place, even with friends" Jeb chimes in "A piece of home always helps I think, just don't eat them too quickly, or you'll get hit by homesickness even worse"
"And we wouldn't want that would we?" Baldrick asks with a wily smirk, as he looks up at captain
"Of course we wouldn't, it'd make us all look bad if she curls up and starts sobbing like a wreck" Capn says with a wide grin "So do good for us out there, Ya hear adela"
"Have fun!" Wanko shouts as they cheering starts back up
What do I do?

[] Thank them, for everything, and tip my hat to them

(First things first, unlike Fledgling Super Quest, this is not an original setting. I am actually using a variation of rules from Mecha: the RPG and one of the 3 base settings within the book that I own. Don't be a cheater and spoil the surprise for those looking to play. Besides a setting is just a suggestion.)
Arion Mannis will rule Destiny Arbor. Only the Separatist Guard stand in his way.
Destiny Arbor is a system of eight planets, each terraformed and suitable for human life. Since the first colony ships landed centuries ago, the system has been ruled by an ancient monarchy: the Mannis Dynasty. Over the years, the Mannis family has, for the most part, been benevolent. They have ruled in the interest of the people and grown the fortunes of Destiny Arbot to rival any other long-standing Sol colony. However, that will soon change.
As the elderly King Forrest Mannis slowly wastes away on his death bed, his youngest son, Prince Arion, awaits the day he will inherit the kingdom. Unlike his father, Arion is manipulative and power hungry. Behind his dying father's back, he has taxed the worlds of Destiny Arbor into poverty, greedily consolidating the system's wealth for himself, with plans to amass a grand army and lead a crusading campaign to conquer the entire galaxy.
But Prince Arion's plan may be short-sighted. He has underestimated the will of his subjects. Under the strain of the mad prince's tyranny, five planetary baronies banded together to form the Separatist Guard: an army of freedom fighters dedicated to deposing the corrupt prince and establishing planetary independence. In response, the mad prince has rallied the forces of the Destiny Defense Force, who view the Separatist Guard as terrorist insurgents who stand in opposition to the Prince's promises of peace and unity. The lines of battle are drawn and Destiny Arbor stands locked in civil war.
But first, who are you?

I'm new to 40k and I'm trying to build an army and I'm torn between the imperial guard and the nids what are the pros and cons of both?
>>48061459
GW loves to give shiny new things to Imperial Guard, especially because that army has a lot of autists who drop $800 for a plastic tank instead of building one out of cardboard.
So you should probably pick nids.
True but the nids have so many models you have to put on the tabe one has to wonder if the price weighs out in the end
>>48061459
>Wargame: Eye of Terror Escalation
I didn't know I needed that in my life so much.
>>48061549
Guard is really affordable if you proxy, and I've yet to see a place refusing someone with not!ww2 miniatures.
Can Mouse Guard be fun? Any cool scenarios ever happened to you? Or only furries play it?
I am also very interested in this topic. I watched a sample game being run and it looks cool. basically burning wheel, but it's the Redwall-raque setting that really gets me.
Why do people think that any game with even vaguely anthropomorphized animals is automatically furry?
>>48060618
OP only meme'd at you, friend. Please excuse OP for being such a massive faggot.
>A (Elf) race eats over thousands year only flesh.

>What are carnivores?
>tfw when you need a good degree of realism to have something the audience can relate to and seems grounded and believable and without it shit turns into RWBY-tier trash
>but to be fully grounded to realism is fucking boring, shuts out the door to the fun of anachronisms and leads to people getting autistic and /pol/. It also defeats the whole point of fantasy by denying the fantastic
Where do you find balance? I had it in WHFB but then it dieded
>>48059606
There's nothing stopping you from using the Warhammer setting.
>>48059661
I know but when a setting is completely abandoned by its company FOR VERY LITTLE GOOD REASON, its very likely in time it will die with all its good titbits of lore. My nancyboy SJW friend always shut it out, saying it was just "grimdark fantasy 40k" and I fear that will be what people think in time.
>>48059701
It was miles and miles better than 40k :(
Is PbP gaming strictly superior than vis-Ã -vis?
>You're alone, roleplaying feels less awkward
>You don't see the other guy, even if you know him IRL. The isolated text makes it easier to imagine his character
>It's less on the fly and more slower paced, you can overthink your moves
>Due to the format, you can be more detailed in your roleplay. You can even spend a few posts exactly describing what kind of dish you're preparing for your friends
>Romance becomes much less awkward, as you don't have to listen to your neckbeard of a GM put on a girly voice when you're trying to woo a half-dragon princess
For D&D and other such RPGs, I don't see the added value of meeting face to face. That's more of a thing that's benificial to board/card games that require less roleplay.
It is strictly worse.
>What takes two hours vis-a-vis takes two weeks in a pbp game
>PbP is only for those who have such low confidence in themselves they can't even handle a conversation between friends without sperging out.
>Face-to-face builds friendships and good times while pbp leaves names on a screen and often dies within a week.
>People who play PbP are those who can't find a real life group to play with so more often than not you're scraping the bottom of the barrel with players.
>>48059521

>>Due to the format, you can be more detailed in your roleplay. You can even spend a few posts exactly describing what kind of dish you're preparing for your friends

>the orc's name is grok
>>48058636
yes, and?
>Orcs
>Typically of lesser inteligence than most sentient races
>Uncaring about phonetic sounds, value speed and efficiency and directness above all
>Grok is good, quick name. Easy to rally when shouted.
Now make an argument against the mighty name of Grok.
>>48058665
It's the 'Juan' of orc names that you tell humans who can't pronounce your real name
I saw Gorkamorka receiving a little attention on the board and thought /tg/ might be up for discussing its Hivebound cousin.
So my group of friends has agreed to get into a Necromunda campaign recently as our Mordheim game basically fell apart when 2 of the group left after Uni.
Ive decided to give the Ash Waste Nomads a crack and see how things go, I was just wondering what /tg/ thoughts on their strength and weaknesses were and if there were any tips on playing them?
Or otherwise whats some good advice for running a gang in the imperiums most gang infested Underhive?
>>48058229
Im also think of ordering Kolony Rebels to serve as stand ins and have some old IG bits lying about in boxes to customize them with.
Anyone know of any similiar ranges in price and desig before I sink my money?
Thinking of setting up a few games with some friends, and I need cheap terrain suggestions.
There's always cardboard and filler ruins, I know, and the Pringles can towers are classics.
But does anyone have any good ideas for cost-effective quick terrain?
>>48058623
Old plastic and cardboard tubes are great, backed up by cereal and other food boxes, you can make quick industrial terrain pretty quick, just spray paint it metal gray and copper.
Fruit netting and the like can also pass for grating if done right.
You might also consider old and broken electronics.
This is how I rogue as the party face.
>>48057931
That was a pretty good movie, a sort of love-letter to spy movies. Very few action scenes, a lot of dialogue and spies doing spy things - a total opposite of shitfucks that were Bourne and modern Bond movies.
It's fun, it's smart and it's charming.
Honestly, 10/10, would recommend to anyone.
Guy Ritchie outdid himself once again.
That said, you thread is shit. "This is how I" is the worst cancer to exist. Terminate your fucking self immediately.
This is how I That Guy as wizard.
>>48057966
I liked it too. I'm always a little sad when I go to the movies and I'm the only one in the theater.
Are there any good systems for playing as the ruler of a nation/civilization? I like the idea of leading armies into battle and taking land in the name of my god/beliefs. Crushing enemies, driving them before me, etc.
>>48057848
Reign?
For warfare, you could get GURPS for free plus the free rules for Mass Combat.
>>48057861
>for free
My favorite price tag! Where do I go to get GURPS?
>>48057848
IIRC there was an AD&D campaign setting about playing kings called Birthright.
Adventurer, Conqueror, King is an OSR game that puts an emphasis on PCs becoming rulers.

>potions

Enough with that. Let's make new magic conainers!
>Hollow balls of clay
To apply a spell, just break the ball on its appropriate place. Yes, even if it's to cure the broken bone. You can't hit incorporeal (or very soft) creatures with those and will have problems with flying enemies. You better have a good slinger in your party. If you botched a throw, your spellball gets caught and possibly thrown back. Some nets would come in handy.
>Magic pastry
Good thing: they won't break if you drop into a 20 feet pit. Bad thing: they can get spoiled, which makes them a short-time investment. Why is that old gingerbread so dense? Well, it have been a Stoneskin gingerbread when it was fresh!
I always enjoyed how Dark Sun had enchanted fruit that would never rot (until you consumed it) instead of potions.
>>48057396
the fruit would be rotten inside of you?
>>48057360
>Let's make inferior alternatives to scrolls and potions
A couple of questions guys
Is this analysis accurate /tg/?
http://vsbattles.wikia.com/wiki/The_God_Emperor_of_Mankind
and how well would the Emperor fit in a comic universe (Marvel/DC/Worm etc) and where would he stand in terms of power
General God Emperor of Mankind thread
anyone?
no one?
okay...
>>48057320
>Is this analysis accurate /tg/?
Seems accurate enough, or at the very leased very well researched.
>how well would the Emperor fit in a comic universe?
He could easily curb-stomp Scion or Galactus. I don't know much about DC to know who's the biggest bad in that universe, but Big E could probably kick their shit in also.
>where would he stand in terms of power
Literally god-like. His destructive capabilities are more easily compared to things like the death star than to other powered individuals.
>>48058473
>believing the corpse can do that
When you think about it shouldn't polymorph and soul transfer spells be a much bigger deal in settings where they exist?
Their very existence means that any magic user could be someone completely different than he/she seems. The likes of spies or serial killers would love such spells.
>>48057202
If they're big deals, then could they afford such things?
>>48057202
Daily reminder: Magic is still not an everyman's tool that people use to wipe their ass after dropping one.
>>48057202
Boring answer: Depends on the setting
Fun answer: Because you either need to dedicate your life to studying it and be smart enough to actually use what you studied, or you need to be born with magical talent, which then needs to manifest.
Also this makes me want to play a Wizard who is super old and wrinkly, holding onto life via alchemical organs and furious willpower, who's main motivation is gettin revenge on an equally old wizard. They both had a falling out, went up into their towers for 100 years and now have come down to battle.Or the exact same scenario except he's alive because he got a one-way ticket to youth and turned into a little girl.
