I think I fucked up /tg/ and I need your help
>Be me
>Be a neutral (secretly) evil mage with disguised wooden golem minion
>Be send on a mission to a distant isle, the nearest port is a few days on horse
>The party finds a group of merchants who have been attacked by a band of bandit orcs in a nearest forest
>Accept to help them and free the ones that the orcs took
>Find the orc hideout
>Start exploring the dungeon, kill orcs and hobgoblins with ease in their rooms
>Suddenly the party splits
>Our group gets ambushed
>Paladin lays in the ground being beaten to death and elf begs for help
>Start hearing more footsteps of more orcs and hobgoblins
>Just got the golem minion the last session and be low both in hp and in potions
>imoutofhere.jpg
>Runs and try to search for the other half of the party
>See even more orcs and a few ogres flooding the path that the other group had took and hear a dying screams from one of the party members
>Left the cave and go to the port without the party thinking that they're dead
>They somehow manage to survive even after almost killing themselves
>Now the players are mad at me and want a excuse to kill my character
What should I do to stop them from kicking out my character from the party or try to kill him?
One of the characters in the surviving is Lawful Good, what could I do to make peace with them?
>>48076948
If they're looking for an excuse to kill you, then get the DM to veto it because OOC is not to be brought IC, and that it's just a game.
>>48076948
>now the players are mad at me
Remind them that metagaming is immature
>>48076948
>Suddenly the party splits
>the party splits
Oh shit, /tg/, the kidnapped king/queen has been released on the populace in it's Trauma-ridden form, throughly agitated by the villans to hit every switch in his/her PTSD gallery. (S)he is currently screaming, crying, shouting nonsense while spinning around as a whirlwind of gore as nearby unlucky civilians are caught be the desperate royal's immense skill. Direct approach seems useless as clearly the royal is in a mental state of desperate self defense, it's sanity under constant assault of horrible thoughts , barely being suppressed by mindless, instinctive lashing and assault against everything visible.
How do you/your party handle the situation?
>>48076486
With concentrated firepower.
>>48076486
My fighter would action surge and the king full of four sharp-shooter arrows for 1d8+15 damage. Plus extra if applying Battlemaster dice.
He would then, upon bringing the guy to 0hp, claim "Nonlethal takedown" as the rules of 5e permit, sending the kind unconcious but stable then shackling him in manacles and looking for someone responsible to care for him.
Is royalty elf? Sleep spell would work

Just came back from postapocalyptic LARP. I've played as merchant and it was really fun. I've tricked some people, I lied with my every word and I've got annihilated by TNT taken by Lunatic to bar, where I was sitting with other characters.
Do you like LARPs /tg/? Or do you prefer less dynamic games or games with no face to face contact?
>>48076335
American live action roleplaying tends to be awful, so no.
>>48076335
Please tell me this image isn't actually from your larp.
Also, if you want to spark serious discussion in a larpthread, use a serious image.
>>48076335
Just returned from a ren fair kind of thing. It's an annual fair in an old castle, and they have a whole area designated medieval. There were potters, jewelers, a blacksmith, and someone who made instruments out of wood and clay. But most of it was just people hanging out in canvas tents wearing garb. I discovered that it's free, only vendors have to pay. And it lasts 2 days every year, so there's a sleepover. The public can watch but is roped off on the walkway. You can let them watch or remove the rope to invite them in. There's a lot of families with little children. One vendor sells wooden daggers, so they all run around with those.
There was a stage fight demonstration, lots of food, some live music, and a bunch of people I know from LARPs who brought bottles and bottles of shots.
It was nice.
ITT we discuss the awesomeness of arquebus, hand cannon, musket, and blunderbuss. We also discuss the absolute miserable failure of fantasy games to include them, and how to fix it.
i just want to be an arquebusier /tg/. is that too much to ask?
>>48075978
Because you have a group that is afraid that the inclusion of firearms; antiquated or otherwise, would ruin the "feel" of it.
Oddly, you have some who will unironically say something stupid like it's not historically accurate but then let something else slide because it fits their personal taste
>>48075995
>muh feels
do these people actually exist? i hate them so much.
>>48076068
Imagine when you see a topic about firearms in fantasy settings and people go to ridiculous lengths to justify the coexistance of melee weapons and firearms like saying the very chemical compounds to make gun powder don't exist or something stupid like that. They come up with these ideas as a way to maintain internal consistancy and yet how can the rest of life exist if the core chemicals that make gunpowder doesn't exist? Magic aint gotta splain shit?
Nevermind the fact that, from a mechanical perspective, let's take D&D for example there is really no difference between getting shot with a bullet versus being shot with an arrow which also sparks the sort of people who say that guns have to have ridiculous reload speeds to "balance" them out against other weapons.
In all, I just think it's people being stupid about it.
Tell me about the ogres of your setting.

What's the name of that trope where someone guards something for so long they die but they keep guarding it as a skeleton or a ghost or something because they've got their fucking orders and they're gonna stand here until they're relieved?
>>48073732
Why do you need to know the name of the trope?
Couldn't you just go to tv tropes and look up some story that does that to find out?
>>48073780
I can't remember any. There's Ryu's ghost army from LotR but they were there because they fucked up, not out of duty.
In TV Tropes, I don't think that trope exactly exists. It's a combination of purpose-driven immortality and a Revenant.
But because Our Revenants Are Different, they can just be a subtype of Revenants. Usually Revenants want revenge (Unfinished Business), but this Revenant has a purpose to fulfill, but the purpose doesn't have a due date.
Redpill me on the ultramarines, /tg/
>>48073353
What the fuck is red pilling?
>>48073353
They're the greatest of them all.
Lesser Space Marine races would have you believe in Space Marine equality or things like "Dorn Power", but the fact remains that Ultramarines have superior gene-seed.
Dear /tg/ I come to you with a question that's been vexing me for years.
What is the actual origin of the "metal bikini" trope? It certainly doesn't exist in the original versions of the fantasy short stories and novels often associated with it (like ERB's John Carter or Howard's Conan). I would guess that since bikinis became super-popular in the 50s that it's from fantasy literature or art made after that, but I honestly can't find any information.
Where did Red Sonja get her scalemail bikini for example?
>>48073189
im gana make a guess that it comes from Conan the Barbarian. and Xenia warrior princess. thats older stuff that is basically bikini armor.
my second guess would just be character art and general art.
>>48073189
>Red Sonja get her scalemail bikini
Not sure in the slightest about your question, but I'm pretty sure her bikini is silver coins oir something like that. Purely for show, not intended in any way to be protection - she would fight naked if she didn't have it.

Also if the guy who made ti is here, you undercut me by like one second. I had submitted a new thread too.
I noticed that there was not Mage: The Ascension jump on the drive. I've done a quick check, but haven't found any reference to anyone currently working a jump for that setting.
As such, I'm going to start work on a Mage: The Ascension jump. I don’t really care if anyone makes another Mage: The Ascension jump, so long as any later author also doesn’t care if anyone else makes another Mage: The Ascension jump.
If someone has already 'claimed' a Mage: The Ascension jump, I'd appreciate it if some one could like me to the thread.
>>48075336
You want the other thread, this one is getting no attention and is likely to be deleted shortly. Don't think anyone's doing Ascension besides you, might have missed something though.

>the Tau are evil brainwashing dictator commies
I want this meme to end
Is anyone else annoyed at GW's desire to make the Tau more grimdark? It felt pretty refreshing to have a friendly race who'd rather negotiate first before sending in the big guns. Sometimes the endless grimdark of each faction gets rather exhausting.
>>48072510
>Is anyone else annoyed at GW's desire to make the Tau more grimdark?
Nah the Tau are kinda boring and need something to spice them up.
Mechs can only go so far
>>48072510
If you wanted something refreshing and different from the 40k grimdark, did you ever try, I dunno, taking a break from 40k and looking somewhere else?
>>48072510
>Tau don't actually have sword arms on their except or farsighted
It's bullshit man
Literally just give it a power glaive profile or w/e, say it replaces the shield generator and is a nod to the close quarters urban combat the Tau increasingly find themselves in against the imperium
Do you have any locations near you that could be used as inspiration in a campaign.
I live in the same city as the Freetown Christiania. There are areas out there that are like pulled from fantasy novel. The concept of a rogue city within a city where wizards and other alternative folks live in complete contrast to the bureaucracy of the surrounding city could make an interesting capital city in a campaign.
Pic related, took it out there the other day.
That motherfucking huge swampland to the south that occupies a third of my country.
Some people in Polesia were unaware of WW2 'til germans came to them in person. Or even after war ended, 'cuz nobody reached to some places.
>>48072483
>Freetown Christiania
Didn't they shut that down a few years ago?
The Tivoli should deliver nice creepy vistas during off hours.
My home town has persistent rumors of old tunnels, a place where the US kept nuclear weapons for decades without telling anyone, and a bridge whose builder tricked the devil himself who made an appearance at the opening.
A hindu temple built into a cave system?
Nowhere near my place but a nobody there can go on 4 chan. A temple built on the gates of hell themselves. The eastern idea of hell just means it's rather neutral. But with a D&d idea of hell, an order of monks with orders to hold the line against hell itself.
