I am looking to upgrade my Daghatar the Adamant deck. I know there are better commanders for a +1/+1 counters and enchantment deck but it is the first deck I built. I am hoping to not have to pay through the nose to make the deck a little more competitive. Here is a link to the current deck list. I already plan on removing some of the cards but suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You're gonna want more dual lands always helps
Some board wipes, white is infamous for them
And maybe some BIG abzan creatures like Rhino and Ivorytusk fortress
You have no excuse to not run every card that does the same thing oblivion ring does
Some enchantments that fuck with artifacts, like aura of silence (I forget the exact name but it might be that)
Removal is important, vindicate or anguished unmaking
And finally some golgari cretaures help out a lot: Varolz, corpse jack menace and Jarad will pull you through

How do I play her? Like a toolbox plus MLD and board wipes? Warrior tribal?

D20_Modern_Book_Cover.jpg

I've been thinking of how one would go about creating a D20 Modern system using 5e. Because Why not? This is only Speculation, but here's what I've gotten so far:

Skills, Proficiency, Hit Points and AC remain the same mechanically, with Tech replacing Arcana.

The Race system doesn't really make sense in Modern, so I found this:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ViqLSEN67mmd2Lo_OJ-H5YX0fccsfI97kFaqx7V1Dmw/edit

Instead of giving players races, they instead use 5-6 Aptitude points to purchase features and background traits from a list, letting them customize.

I'm thinking we do away with Classes altogether, and instead give players Feature Allotment. Instead of choosing a particular Class, you instead receive a certain number of points that you spend to select from a list of Class Features. At Character Creation, you would use points to purchase features like Weapon Proficiency, Size of Hit Die, and base class features. Features are chosen from specific Tiers, starting from 1 and going to 10. As Players level up, the number of Points they have in each Tier increases. This system would be similar to Spell Slots in 5E, so at level 3 Players might receive Tier 2 Points and access to Tier 2 Features, 5th Level would get Tier 3, etc. Meanwhile, they're still getting more Tier 1 points, which they use to purchase new features, or upgrade their current ones, like the FF Star Wars games. The overall goal of this is to spread the choice of features out so no class is favored over the other simply because they get Gun skills and Features.

5e is too Dependant on using Magic, so removing that creates a sort of vacuum. That's why I've opted to go for a mechanic similar to the Mystic class where you channel points into certain skills in order to compound the effects, building on the ability to pick from several different features. Certain features or feats allow you to increase these points, or decrease the cost of certain abilitiy types.

What do you think?

ITT: Magical Realm stories. I'll start.

>be me last night.
>MCing Session 1 for Apocalypse World.
>Two players, a Hardholder and a Battlebabe
>Hardholder is a sleazy Don Draper type who enforces the Prima Nocte law over all his settlers, so he gets first dibs on banging all women on their wedding night, even before the husbands. He's the alpha male who cucks literally every man in the settlement to maintain dominance.
>Hardholder's top enforcer is an NPC named Fisting Buffalo, a tribal from the wastes who dresses as a stereotypical Native American, with the big feather headdress all the way down to his ass. Ethnically, he's Korean, though. According to the Hardholder, Fisting Buffalo's "defining feature" is that he's a loner who loves blowing hookers.
>Battlebabe is an oversexed thrill kill psycho bitch who's been living in a stairwell in Hardholder's settlement for a week, working as a frighteningly over-eager prostitute. She tries to seduce the Hardholder every chance she gets, regardless of circumstances. We're in a bar talking business? Let's fuck. We're about to kick down a door to collect a debt? Let's have a quickie.
>Battlebabe is also ridiculously bloodthirsty. When she tried to collect said debt (which was nothing more than an unpaid bar tab for a few drinks), she fucking mauled the guy to death with her bladed whip, letting him die a bloody, mangled ruin of torn flesh. We later found out that Hardholder was, of course, fucking this guy's wife. Also, earlier in the week, when the Battlebabe was fucking some guy as a hooker, the John tried to fuck her pooper, so she cut his dick off with zero warning.

This was Session 1, and there's no sign of us ever leaving the Magical Realm. I'd end the game if it wasn't so fucking funny.

Pic related, it's the Battlebabe's avatar image.

Or a bunch of other 4x games, really, like Endless Space or Sword of the Stars. These settings have enough fluff to provide a solid base, have enough going on in so many different levels of scale that you can put the party in basically any social role, and the sandbox nature of their campaigns means that you can come up with places and events on the fly with no rigid structure limiting you as long as you don't break the setting.

Gm is letting me take leadership feat in a way that my followers are binded to a summoning item, like a horn if valhalla. In this way they can die and ressurect the next day without penalty.

But how do you justify a group of people willingly signing up to be immortal servants to the owner of thia item. Me.

>those that were lied to and now remain permanently tethered
>wrongfully acquired
I'm sure there's more but those are the big ones that come to mind.

How many fucking times do you people have to be told that "enforce spell components" doesn't fix anything?

It fixes some things if you make the components hard to get, instead of just letting them buy 5000 gp worth of diamonds from the grocery store.

Casters are still OP as fuck but enforcing spell components helps if you're not a shit gm.

So I have been playing roleplaying games for years. I have played with D20s and Dark Heresy, however the only fantasy I have played to this day is D&D 3.5e

Now before everyone flames me for playing that edition, I have been playing 3.5e ever sense it came out. Its really old and I feel the need to buy a more modern RPG.

So shall it be Pathfinder? Which took a road similar to 3.5 Or D&D 5e because it is still a D&D game?

I usually a DM, and based off that my friend keep pushing me to lead another game, I can only assume I am decent at it. Either choice I will study and read the book using them as guide lines for my games.

They're both shit. Pathfinder is 3.5 with a slightly different coat of paint. 5e is 3.5 with most of the numbers filed off.

For a fantasy themed RPG, what do you recommend? I am genuinely curious and looking for a new books.

5e is fine. Most of the people that hate 5e are Pathfinder drones, or people who hate Pathfinder and think 5e is the same thing. That or they're memesters just spewing the same uninformed opinions on repeate ad infinitum.

I really want to do a Mass Effect themed game with a few friends who really like the series and kinda want to move away from the simple D20 system.

So far I've only really found this pdf, does anybody have any suggestions or better rule sets?
Any opinions of this one?

(Unfortunately its too big to upload as a pdf.)

Would anyone play a tabletop version of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms? Powerful independent characters, massive hordes of troops and a whole load of tactics sounds good to me.

Wei, Shu and Wu would obviously have full rulebooks whilst Yellow Turbans, the forces of Ding Yuan and Nanman would also make an appearance.

The game would revolve around what generals and special characters you fielded, with the average troop being the ones capturing objectives and providing the "meat" of the armies. This would allow for a less bloated game as normal troops wouldn't have many, if any, special rules to note except for there weapon stats. The specials would come from the generals and leaders; this would help on a competitive scene as load outs would centre around these independent characters rather than the whole army.

Campaign books would be great and a campaign system for playing the RotTK over an amount of time would be awesome to see too.

Overall I think RotTK would be perfect for a tabletop and you should too.

"You insects dare to oppose me!" - when Lu Bu charges a unit of troops they must take a LD test or the unit is wiped out.

"I am the Greatest Warrior of the Three Kingdoms!" - if Lu Bu wins a dual with another General then +1 STR to a maximum of 10

They do all the time, the IG is the strongest army in the galaxy. It is mostly just defeated by bullshit story crap.

IG is just a whipping boy faction in fluff for other factions to look tough. Kind of like Orks.

Before the awful HH novels I always assumed part of the reason why the Imperium managed to re-conquer the galaxy was because they weren't chronically retarded when it came to logistics and tactics.

Depends on your group's needs. Savage Worlds seemed to have worked for the beginner groups I played with pretty well. So did FAE, though that one needs a bit of explaining.

If they want to start with D&D, there are quite a few options.

5e is the most popular, you'll find lots of help with that.

Dungeon World is simple, fast, and whatever else you decide on you should read the DM-ing guide part.

If your players like a bit of tactics and complexity for combat, 4e could work, but you'll probably have to pirate everything.

There's a bunch of other more indie systems I like, but these are the big ones.
