It doesn't really take advantage of it's medium.
But it is designed to avoid it's medium's weaknesses.

I'm not a huge fan, but it's well designed for what it is.

I like this game. Not sure how good the mechanics are without actually playing it.

If you try to break the game, you can. If you are a sensible person, the mechanics work fine

This is now Random Encounters Edition.

>The PCs wake up only to find that an ogre as wandered into their campsite. It sits on a rotting log near the campfire and occasionally stares at the PCs with a blank expression on its face. If the PCs leave, it follows. Clearly this is a newly "awakened" troll that seems to have imprinted on the PCs

>While skirting the edge of Dovakar, a pair of mules burst out of the treeline and almost trample the PCs. One of the mules carries many bags and containers filled with who knows what. The other mule carries a dead rider with numerous arrows in his back.

>Outside of Thistle Hold, a human and goblin child, flanked by a large ogre are recruiting for an expedition into Dovakar. After hours of failed recruitment, they scoff and head in the direction of Dovakar, donning pieces of oversized armor and rusty swords.

I am doing a challenge with a friend where we both do a set of custom MTG cards based on a film, and then create a deck out of our custom sets.
Is there an easy way to upload these custom sets online and play with them, kind of like Cockatrice?

This is the set I am working on: https://mega.nz/#!0cgXHZDJ!_SIUeSdQcDgQeGsHjuO6GNw1QH3ETbm7uzgZZBKdBRU

Well, yeah. Cockatrice.
It's piss easy to play with custom cards on Cockatrice.

I wonder if anybody has made a Roborosewater set for cockatrice. That would be so much fun.

>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a thirteen year old boy named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

You sit in an oversized chair in front of a long table, covered with delicious looking foods and a myriad of drinks. It's all very appetizing, but the colossal beast sitting a few feet away sort of lessens your appetite.

While you're reluctant to eat, he does not share that problem, loudly consuming vast quantities of food in a way that reminds you somewhat of Goku, but at the same time nauseates you far more.

"You call this food?!" Gurumes snaps at the robotic servant at the end of the table.

"Not just me, sir," the robot says. "Everyone calls it food."

Gurumes throws a plate at the machine's head, knocking it over.

"I can't take this any more..." Gurumes groans. "Ever since I found those damned Blood Rubies, nothing satisfies my hunger. I'm in constant pain, and every day I think it'll kill me, but it never does."

He looks over at you. "I need the Sleeping Princess. She will have the power to free me from this curse."

>A. Ask how he knows that

>B. Tell him that the Devil's Castle is in a place called the Devil's Hand

>C. Ask why he doesn't just get rid of the Blood Rubies

As Stack began to teach Josephina and Ingrid how to get the tracks onto the Cromwell, you and Winona ate the last bits of your breakfast. “So, how was your night with the GrisGris?” asks Winona. You shrug, munching on some hashbrowns. “Come oooonnn!” Winona leaned in close, rubbing her head against your arm. “Did anything lewd happen? You can tell me.”

“Nothing ‘lewd’ happened,” you explain. “I got a good night’s sleep, and that was that.” Honestly, why does no one seem to understand that you are not looking for a relationship? God.

“Hmph.” Winona places her plate into the dirty dishes pile by the burnt out campfire. “Boring.”

“Don’t start,” you say. You look at Winona up and down, and find that she has changed out into a white tank top and khaki cargo shorts, still retaining her black thigh highs but mixing it up with heavy boots. “What’s with that outfit anyway, taking a vacation?”

“Yep! I’m going down to the racetrack, apparently Griselda’s gonna be welcoming in some people who are visiting to try it out! Did you want to come with?” she asks.

How common is slavery in 40k? The way it seems to me is like so:

Imperium: Very common. Any mutants or aliens permitted to live are slaves. Many abhumans are slaves. All Imperial factions seem to use them to some extent, even Space Marines (serfs).

Mechanicus: Pretty much everyone below tech-priest seems to be essentially a slave. Servitors are slaves+.

Chaos: Slaves enslaving slaves.

Dark Eldar: Slavery is vital to their existence.

Eldar: No. Just kill the mon-keigh.

Orks: Gretchin are slaves. Sometimes they'll enslave other races.

Necrons: Some overlords do it.

Tyranids: Nom nom nom.

Tau: No, and anyone who disagrees with that will disappear in the night.

Am I accurate in my thinking? Also, how do slaves get treated by respective factions?
70 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
Anybody? I can't seem to get a straight answer on it.
>>
When it comes to the Imperium, factions like the Space Marines and Ecclesiarchy typically have volunteers, not really slaves (although they're sometimes treated as much, like with the Marines Malevolent). The rights of workers vary from planet to planet as well, of course. I feel like, officially, the Imperium is against the slavery of pureblood humans, but planetary governments will dance around that rule by calling their workers something else and paying them the bare minimum, or something. If you want to get technical, conscripts are slaves, too.

Then, of course, there's the penal colonies, where the Imperium makes use of criminals as a work force. Ecclesiarchy, too.

Anyway yeah, you're mostly on-point.
>>
>>48202063
You're pretty much on point here. The only exceptions I can think of are:

Most Imperial planets prefer to practice a system of serfdom rather than out-and-out slavery. The Ecclesiarchy also practices a system of indentured servitude with people's payment being that their sins are atoned for. That being said, mutants and offworld abhumans are used as slaves if they aren't banished to the underhives or purged on the spot. I can't think of a single instance of the Imperium taking xenos slaves; they pretty much always prefer to kill them on sight.

Eldar Corsairs take slaves, and I've heard rumors of Craftworld Eldar taking them on very rare occasions, but I have no idea how true that is.

You're kind of right with the Tau. The Tau Empire does not explicitly condone or practice slavery; but, there's always the fact that an Ethereal could order another Tau to do anything (up to and including suicide) and the Tau would do it without hesitation or question. The only overt instance I can think of where the Tau practiced something resembling slavery with their other member-races was in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, where a Tau victory sees them force the remaining human population of the world into gender-segregated work camps.

BEGIN INTERLUDE VII: NOBLESSE OBLIGE

You are Captain Miller, Glen Militia, and your job is complicated. Glen's militia is something like a peacekeeping force, something like a law enforcement body, something like a monster hunting unit, and composed of folks who tend to think of themselves as civilians first and soldiers second. Things have been awkward, ever since Her Grace arrived, and now the harpies and the humans and dwarves that came with them have arrived, and you're not sure what to make of it.

And from the looks of things, you won't even get to enjoy your drink in peace.

The Unlucky Bastard's been busy these last few days, with newcomers wanting to sample surface cuisine and learn all manner of things. The folks from the Roost don't seem comfortable without a roof over their head, but they relax and prove surprisingly personable in the shared space.

Except some jackass decided to pick a fight. Well. Not 'some' jackass. Michael.

You're supposed to be off-duty, gods damn it.

Michael's first swing misses the lean human he directs it at, but the follow-up sinks into the newcomer's gut, doubling him over. You're about to stand up - neither of them know you're /here/ - when the Rooster pulls a gleaming knife, a feral expression in his eyes.

Behind him, a dark-haired young woman with a raven pendant moves faster than you would've thought possible. She slams the man's face into the counter of the bar and throws him to the ground before picking up and swinging her barstool in one smooth, clean motion. It breaks across Michael's shoulder - the same arm Nathan broke, not too long ago, which breaks /again/ from the impact. Michael cries out, sobbing while he clutches his arm.

"The /fuck/ were you /thinking/?" the girl says to the man on the ground, pointing at him. Her glare makes him stay down when he was starting to get back up.

Your pod drifts through nothingness. A bubble of space out from within the nebula in which your pod drifts from a long dissipated super nova. The walls of gas surround your distant, drifting pod on all sides, whispering with the reflected radiation and the subtle crackling of the nebula itself. The bubble, the system, although there is no longer any star, is silent and uninteresting. Your pod watches as the rare traffic moves to and from one of the small backwater colonies carved into the chunks of drifting stone and poorly held together derelict hulls drifting through space. It is a system of rejects, outlaws, and pirates. The only place of any interest, however fleeting, is the singular dwarf planet. A tiny world, slowly drifting through the absent void so appropriately named by the locals as Nowhere, devoid of starlight, with only the cold hum of sparse and secretive hideouts hardly large enough to be called settlements only slightly glow against the freezing backdrop of absolute zero.

Something grabs your pod's attention. A sudden, growing noise slowly, gradually building up from nothing to a distinct mental cry. Your pod moves closser, its cloaked form drifting over the dark world, and you can make out the distinct but meaningless noise of some psionic disturbance, like a grating of metal against metal making you shudder and recoil from the unnatural sensation. Before long, your pod begins to detect gravitational disturbances as well, focused, and highly localized but tremendous in strength.

Hey fa/tg/uys, I'm in a bit of a pickle.
A couple of my friends and I are looking to start some sort of high-fantasy game and they want me to DM for 'em.

Problem is, none of them have ever played anything tabletop before, and I haven't played anything really apart from a few GURPS-based games like 6yrs ago in high school.

What are some fairly simple one-shot campaigns we could try?
I know Pathfinder has a couple which might do the trick, but they might be too complex for us, essentially being tabletop virgins.

Halp?

Depending on their age you could just choose a plotline from one of the earlier games and adapt it.

That said I wouldn't use a setting from a gaming series if it's their first time as they will just look at it from the video gaming point of view and you will spend all your time explaining why they can't just sneakily pick all the cases with elven swords in them while their owner watches.

Can someone explain why Dark Angels in Warhammer: 40,000 are all branded heretics? I understand that a fairly large force was actually turned to chaos, but that was during the Horus heresy, and I don't see why 10,000 years later they're still branded heretics. I can understand them wanting redemption, and them wanting to punish the unforgiven, but they're literally the most un-heretical chapter out there, apart from maybe Grey Knights. They were never branded heretics. That's the problem. In their desire to avoid any reference to traitors, they have commited great sins, Battles have been lost because they just legged it to hunt a Fallen. This has generated more distrust during 10k years that if they had said, "ok, we lost some guys to Horus". Specially with the new HH lore where every legion had some rotten apples.

Dark Angels are widely renowned for being among the purest and most spotless Chapters around. The whole "hunt the Fallen" thing is a dark secret that practically nobody knows about. The great irony is that they have committed *more* sins in their puritanical quest to extinguish all traces of half their Legion falling in with Horus.

They are the "fanatical confessor monks with a dark secret hidden in the bowels of their abbey" Chapter.

Do you not understand 40k?

Everything is going to shit because everyone is an asshole or a traitor or incompetent (or probably several of those) and everyone else is out to kill you. They won't just forgive someone because they can't trust that it's not yet another trick.
