ITT: The most cringe inducing shit you've ever seen in game
I was the manager at an LGS and was the head DM for 5e Adventure League. Some of you may think, "aw shit, you got paid to play D&D, sweet!"
Not Sweet.
I had to accept anyone into the game as long as they hadn't committed a violation bad enough to get their DCI revoked.
Group is filled with sperg lords that can't get anyone else to play with them.
One of the kids got an internet girlfriend and brought his phone to a game with her on skype and asked if she could "roleplay his familiar".
>Whatever man
His smart phone girlfriend silently listens to our whole 3 hour session without making a sound after introductions.
That job almost made me hate roleplaying games forever.
side note: how is roll20? I want to join I game because I'm the resident DM in my local community and never get the chance to PC anymore. I don't want to play with aspie faggots anymore though.

>hambeast female half-elf monk/warlock
>ended up in a bad deal with her patron
>female changeling rogue (played by normal looking guy) finds a way to save her from the situation
>monk annoys the shit out of me to give her a chance to buy a ring in-game, doesn't care if it's magical
>confused, let her buy a nice ring
>end of last session
>she gets out of her seat
>gets down on one knee in front of rogue player
>presents cheap-ass plastic ring in a box
>guy gets deer in the headlights look
>other players look away and/or gets up from the table immediately
>everyone else in card shop stops what they're doing and stares
>I get up and tell them they can work out the ending for themselves
>both players left looking ashamed in a compromising position
I took 2 months off from DMing because of this. It ruined the climactic victory of the campaign.

>Guy on Roll20
>Calls GM "Oh Mighty and Powerful GM" every. damn. time.
>Lied about making a giant pizza. Found image on Google 30 seconds later. Don't know why.
>Named his character after himself
>Always over-described his own attractiveness and the sexy sound of his voice
Annoying. As. Fuck.
Roll20 Question: You don't wanna play with aspie faggots? Roll20 is full of them
BUT there are good ones out there; my current group is from Roll20 and they're pretty good
You just need to wade through all the shit
>>48277273
>"aw shit, you got paid to play D&D, sweet!"
sounds like a nightmare, having been to that sperg trap before
>how is roll20
It has its shortcomings and I prefer maptools in a lot of ways but god damn if it isn't the most convenient way to play games online. Easy to use, can upload your own images. The issues I have with it are pretty minor and it's great for established games like D&D, SR, etc. because there are a ton of user-made resources for it. Running a game on there right now for some newbies.
Luckily I have had the privilege of playing/running games with IRL friends for the most part so I don't have too many super-cringe stories. However plenty of drama moments.
The most cringe I've ever had was, not surprisingly, from a /tg/ gamefinder interaction
>post ad for my game
>guy says he's interested
>talk to him on skype
>he's aggressive right of the bat
>tells me to convince him to play, basically
>trying to be nice and explain the game to him whilst silently bubbling up at his rude behavior
>he tells me he wants to play a third party class "disney princess" which seems haphazardly thrown together
>tell him I don't think it looks very balanced and would prefer him to just pick a core class if he doesn't mind
>he gets extremely defensive about it, arguing with me that it isn't imbalanced and I don't know what I'm talking about
>try to remain polite but already know I don't want to play with this sperg
>he says some more rude shit
>finally explode at him tell him I knew the second he sent me that shit he was going to be a problem
>he gets really mad and plays the victim card as if I was harassing him and how he knew I was a shit DM, blah blah blah
>tries to blacklist me in the gamefinder thread and make me look like one of those infamous that DMs
luckily when I posted the full log of our convo everyone sided with me but it really killed my spirit for gamefinder threads, which is a bummer because I have had some great experience with it in the past
Thinking about collecting MTG cards and maybe learning how to play...
What am I in for?
If you play with freinds fun and shit talking
>>48275738
Enjoy new cards that cost 80$ a card.
Collecting Pokemon cards would be cheaper if you're really into collecting
>What am I in for?
- spending a shitload of money
- having your deck become outdated in less than six months
Don't do this to yourself, anon. There are many games with good art and mechanics that won't cost you a thousandth of the money MTG costs.
I was talking with some weeaboo friends and we started to wonder if there was some final fantasy themed tabletop RPG. My first suggestion was to play some other fantastic TRPG and fluff it as a final fantasy world, but then curiosity picked me
Apparently, there is is this Final Fantasy RPG 3rd edition. After looking at the PDF on just a first view it seems to be crunchy and has a very video-gamey feeling, which is quite appropriate, since is most likely what the fans of the series are expecting.
I was wondering if anyone has ever given it a try or if there are any other RPGs with a final fantasy theme
>>48274304
That game is garbage.
It's a very faithful adaptation of FF games to the tabletop, but that is exactly what makes it entirely useless as a tabletop RPG.
Super Console was inspired by early RPG titles and features a rather ingenious solution to the ridiculous number bloat you would find in the source material.
Anima (not Beyond Fantasy, the other one) was primarly inspired by VII and VIII, but eschews video game-like mechanics for a more narratively inclined system.
Anima: Beyond Fantasy might work, too. Horribly front-loaded and badly translated, but apparently there are enough people playing it.
Retro Phaze also keeps getting mentioned as taking inspiration from 8-bit RPGs, but I haven't read it yet.
>>48274304
A much, much better Final Fantasy inspired game.
>>48274743
>It's a very faithful adaptation of FF games to the tabletop
as a fan of the series, that is precisely what I'm looking for in a FF RPG tho
I'm getting ready to run a Dungeon World campaign set in a world without gods.
What are some non-divine Healer classes that I can replace the Cleric with?

>>48274363
I'm not just looking for suggestions but also pdf files. Do you happen to have a PDF of the Chirurgeon playbook?

Bard does some healing out of core.
Does Zendikar have the best lore out of all the MtG realms?
I love it when time portrays villains has the benevolent heroes and former protags as evil monsters.
>Does Zendikar have the best lore out of all the MtG realms?
Dominaria.
>>48275179
What's so great about it?
>>48275522
legitimately epic scale that isn't ruined by crude attempts to appeal to the capeshit crowd.
>The mercenary admits to you that she discovered clients started taking her more seriously as a spell-slinger after she began to dress like a tart.
>>48273981
Find a better DM, preferably one who's not mentally 16.
The spell caster that wears armor expects to be hit. If you're hiring a spell caster, and they aren't wearing protective armor, they're either confident or stupid. From a meta perspective, why wouldn't you wear protective gear? From a certain point of view, the guy wearing heavy armor and a mace expects to get hit, and wears it to protect himself. Is the spell caster expecting to get in close quarters combat? Can she hit someone with that walking stick she carries? Or should she be frying the enemies from a distance?

>that CGI

Basilisk dummy.
>>48273978
There is no point in phenotyping dragons by number of limbs, because there are so many phenotypes of dragons that you may as well call them all dragons.
>>48273978
Snake.
Have you guys ever did an adventure roleplay with no mechanics whatsoever?
As in, no dice rolls, no stats, nothing,
just descriptions and Dm's judgement?
Is there a name for that kind of roleplay style?
pic unrelated
I did some acting in college and high school. With "Just Descriptions and GM's Judgement" it's very close to having a director and doing stage improv.
>>48273237
It's called freeforming.
Could be fun with mature players who have similar tastes, but I find that at least a little guidance from mechanics helps.
>>48273248
Yeah, it kinda works that way, Dm describes the immediate area and objects of interest,
while the character interacts with the world
now, its a sensitive system as ive experienced, as there's nothing concrete to the
extent of the character's ability and skill so, if the DM deems an action a faliure and the
player thinks it should have worked there could be an argument fast
>>48273269
True, the system works best with players that are on the same level
In a world, where elves, humans and dwarfs share the same evolutionary ancestor, what would be a legit reason for said ancestor to evolve into a cave/mountain dwelling midget with high intelligence and that still looks a bit like pic related?
Magical reasons like Gods fucking around with evolution are permitted, though i'd try to avoid that since i already did it to elves in my setting.
caves are short i guess?
>>48272764
Neanderthals were shorter than Homo Sapiens, yet they were said to possess significantly greater strength. People in frequently cold environments tend to be shorter on average, whereas people in hotter environments tend to be taller than average. Dwarves are usually depicted as having pale skin, which also ties in with spending little to no time in the sun, suited for being underground and in places where the sun does not appear very often.
So I guess just make them a clan of mountain dwelling Neanderthals. Ties in perfectly with lower than average height, high intelligence and above average strength, not to mention magnificent beards.
>>48272947
Except for Neaderthals probably being less intelligent than us, basically this. If for some reason, a tool-using group was pushed into living primarily in caves, something dwarf-like seems a plausible outcome of selection for best diggers. They'd be small (reducing the amount of work needed to excavate a good cave or tunnel), strong, and have either good night vision or else some other way of 'seeing' in the dark.
I have a feeling, /tg/. Feeling of suspicion.
The amount of people calling everything "edgy", "Mary Sue" or simmilar pejorative terms passed all the bounds long ago. While those are useful terms when used sparingly in cases of characters/things that are actually lowering quality of anything they are part of because of certain traits, BUT everyone and their mother now is theowing them at anything that bears just any resemblance to those traits, even if it (at example) acually creates a cool, likeable character that fits the story?
Could it be... a conspiracy of faggots that play edgy Mary Sues who are tired of being called out for their BS and now are trying to turn those terms into meaningless buzzwords nobody takes seriously?
>>48272684
Ahh.. Nope.
>>48272684
that doesn't sound right at all
>>48272684
I can't decide if that counts as paranoia or having way too much free time to overthink something someone said on fucking 4chan of all places.
Probably the latter: paranoia is about shit that actually matters.
>humies unironically consider this to be their boss

>>48272484
Shut up Taufag, you know you want this sweet guitar. You're just sucking the emperor's cock because the iron lung is effectively the ultimate powersuit. Gundam fighting go force team!
Nice Imperium you got there.
It's be a real shame if something happened to it.
If this fucker was smothered in the cradle, would the Horusy be averted entirely?
You'd be excused for thinking him to be the true villain of the series
>>48272000
The Emperor, when reuniting with some of his children, purposely fucked them over because he was an impatient bastard. There would have been upheaval eventually, but it happened at exactly the wrong time as Magnus tripped over his own feet and fucked everything up beyond repair completely by accident.

Don't talk to me or my sons ever again.
How would a group of adventurers convince one eldritch abomination that would normally consider humans little more than ants in comparison to itself to defend humanity against another eldritch abomination looking to exterminate the human pests?
>implying you can talk to one
Otherwise, Godzilla logic.
you wouldnt, that's the entire point of an eldritch abomination, they dont give a single shit
Sacrifices.
A whole lot of sacrifices.

Depends on the setting.
Tell more about Psychics and Psionics why are they so rare in settings and lore?
>>48271218
Because it is just "MAGIC" with a different name slapped on to make it a unique snowflake superpower. That's it.
Back in the 80's you see a more stark division cropping up between sci-fi and fantasy as genres. You tend not to find spaceships and dragons in the same stories any more, for the same reason you tend not to find psionics and wizards in the same stories.
For ttrpg purposes I think psychic powers fill a niche already well-served by other more flexible character types (wizards with spells like esp and telekinesis come immediately to mind). For settings that don't lend themselves to magic, psychic powers let you fill the world with magic effects without calling it magic. My character didn't cast a pyromantic spell, he just applied his pryokinetic psionic aptitude. It's a common discipline among class 3 military psykers, you see, and its use is strictly regulated.
>>48271218
>Awaken Mystic will hopefully be finished soon. So Psionics for DnD 5th.
