Chargey, shooty or TWFy?
So, Anons, we all have one (Don't lie I know you do)
But now let's try taking these ideas and, for a lack of better term, "Unmagic realm" them - maybe some of these concepts can be made into something being used in a normal game?
So whatever it is - a race of monsters, a group of creatures, a place or a god - let's take a look at them and see what we can make from it.
What the fuck is wrong with you.
How are you so imaginatively bankrupt that you need to mine your fetishes for game ideas.
You're the kind of guy who gives roleplayers a bad name.
>>54942352
That is the ironic part - I don't but most old religions were based on fetishes, so such threads are great for realistic gods for tribal cultures
um... maybe don't sexualize things inappropriately in your games? like, you know how most people (hopefully) don't whip it out and start fapping as soon as the barmaid comes along? apply that same restraint to whatever else you are attracted to.

Space is a lot more open for weird races and stuff than fantasy is, oddly. Gonna be fun to see what comes up.

That's why it's Paizo you as you obviously lack the attention span to read the title of a thread, let your shitty pathfinder in space game die like it deserves

Oh yeah, just like Warhammer Fantasy and 40k should be in one thread too, because they're by the same company!

thanks for asking, i want to keep it pretty budget, im not going to spend more then 10-15€ on a card simply because my playgroup is pretty casual and doesn`t try hard with 200€+ landbases or something like that.

if anybody else wants to take a look at my budget upgrade of edgar markov, gonna stop spamming now, thank you all in advance.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I bought it on a whim this morning and it looks neat, but I'd like to know if it has any weird shit I should look out for.
>>54940280
House creation is alot of fun. Game itself is ok/mediocre. If you like the setting it's ok I guess.
>>54940280
>>54940310
You're better off using the house creation rules, and then playing Zweihander or another high-mortality TTRPG with the house you made.
The character creation is crazy.
You can make a dude capable of punching a giant to death three times over with a single punch by abusing Blood of Heroes and stat dumping, right off the bat.

First for First Order in LEgion
I'll repost my legion tldr
>You have a hand of (at game start) seven prechosen command cards which allow you to activate units in range of your comnander, or you can activate one of your units at random (drawing a random unit type token and assigning it to a unit of that type to activate), until all units have activated. Initiative is determined by comparing both players' chosen command.
>Game lasts seven turns.
>You use an Armada-style movement tool for your squad leader, and the rest of the squad goes anywhere within cohesion. Neat.
>You've got unit and upgrade cards with slots and point costs, as usual.
>Models are unpainted and unassembled.
>If it's anything like previous core sets, and based on the points costs, it looks like model count will rival 40k.

>>You use an Armada-style movement tool for your squad leader, and the rest of the squad goes anywhere within cohesion. Neat.
I really like that mechanic. Unit movement became such a chore in 40K and Warmachine, so imprecise too.
>Game lasts seven turns.
Boo static game length
>You have a hand of (at game start) seven prechosen command cards which allow you to activate units in range of your comnander, or you can activate one of your units at random (drawing a random unit type token and assigning it to a unit of that type to activate), until all units have activated. As long as those pre-chosen command cards are selected as part of army construction that doesn't sound so bad - but does this mean I only activate 7 units during the game? Or do command cards activate multiple dudes?
>If it's anything like previous core sets, and based on the points costs, it looks like model count will rival 40k.
If it's anything like previous core sets, and based on the points costs, it looks like model count will rival 40k.
If the game is fun this could be the thing that finally kills off PP. I've been dying for a game of this scale, and this will keep me from going back to 40K.
>Space Marine Chapter Creation
>Who was the Chapter's Progenitor?
>1-50 = Ultramarines
What.
>>54940065
Most Chapters are descended from Ultramarines. They were the biggest Legion before the Heresy, and everyone else took massive casualties during the Heresy.
This has been canon since at least the 3rd edition as far as I know.
Sadly, lorewise it should probably be even more.
Numerically, the ones that would have the most successors are,
Most
>Ultramarines (by far, I think estimated to have around 500 successors?)
>Dark Angels (something like 250 successors, right?)
>Imperial Fists
Moderate
>Blood Angels?
>Iron Hands
>White Scars
>Raven Guard
None (known)
>Space Wolves (impossible until recently)
>Salamanders (although Black Dragons and Storm Giants are believed to be descended from them)
Long story short I'm attempting to put together a D&D game set in a pseudo upper paleolithic era.
I've got a good grip on how to do weapons, classes, magic, and the like, but I'm at a loss on what real plot hooks the party could encounter.
There will be limited shamanic magic, which is important to note. But what really could be going on in the world? Mass migration to find more hospitable land? A "slay the big baddie" type game ported to stone ages? Maybe something more political relating to warring tribes?
Any ideas?
>>54936658
I hope this thread stays alive until I'm done with my shift. Anyway, I ran a stone age Call of Cthulhu game for a spell. Remember that the basics of life can be an adventure in this setting:
-Finding shelter for the night
-Hunting a dangerous animal to keep it from killing the herds you're following
-The best source of drinking water is being used by a pack of wolves
-A rival group of hominids has cornered a Mammoth, but its too big and strong for them to finish off. Can you trust each other to split the kill if you work together?
>>54936658
Look up Wolfpacks & Winter Snow
a /tg/ regular made a D&D based game set in that time period and got it published. It's supposed to be pretty good.
everyday survival as a hunter gatherer comes to mind... they wouldnt have a $/gp/whatever system, it would revolve around food and the daily task of not dying or starving at any given moment.
Shit, these ppl barely had caves or some simple structure, they didn't have home bases or anything
Orks are shit. GW should legit remove them from the universe alongside those fucking Imperial Guardsmen who I though were just background noise back when I played DoW, I was really surprised they are their own army.
In Fantasy Orcs at least killed one emperor but what is the most damage 40k Orks did? Killed some guardsmen? Lmao. What's the point of a faction that never wins anything?
>>54936064
>what's the point of [thing] in this [setting] if it doesn't meaningfully appear in the [story]
gee, I dunno
>>54936064
Orks should just be replaced by skaven in 40K, they fit the same idea (crazy chaos with cobbled together stuff), but with more interesting units and lore
Orks are the most fun race in Warhammer
>What's the point of a faction that never wins anything?
You forget that fighting at all is a victory for an Ork, and the result isn't important.
What does your character drink in the morning?
>>54934148
It would be rather cozy to wake up early on a dark and cold winter morning with Cestree wearing a comfy sweater and drink hot cocao while playing a 1 v 1 game until all of your friends drop by later that day.
Cestree is too good for this world. How can be a literal semen demon be so much more pure than 3DPD?
>neither coffee nor tea in medieval europe
>tea was actually introduced later than coffee
I don't think morning drinks were a thing, unless you count water.
>>54934148

The day is upon us, samurai of /tg/. The first official tournament for FFG's new L5R is happening in 45 minutes at Gencon, the Kiku Matsuri which is going to have lots of implications for the first arc of the new story and what clans get what roles in tournament play till Winter Court. FFG's post about it is here, and there's an internal link to their facebook livestream which is going to broadcast the event: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2017/8/15/kiku-matsuri/
This thread is additionally for discussion of the LCG in general, the CCG of old, or the RPG.
Are you ready? I'm ready. Who are you hoping is going to put up a good showing? Who do you hope gets BTFO?
As always I hope pheonix and crab get BTFO.
I'm currently experimenting with a crane control deck that focuses on having a lot of honored characters and am in a three-way bind on who to splash
1. Pheonix for kimonos and pacifism. Giving me more ways to honor easy combos with spies as court and savy politician
2. Scorpion for edicts and burning madness for more event denial and easier triggering of my stronghold
3. Dragon for attachment control and stealth from let go
Its starting for the record. Complete with a whole procession of clan banners in

The Thing, Breaking Bad, Terminator, Game of Thrones, ... the list of board games based on movies or TV shows is long. What are some of the great ones and which ones are the worst offenders?
What games in your collection are based on a movie or TV show? How do you like them?
Which franchise would you love to have a good board game of that doesn't already have one or only has a shitty one?

I own this, haven't played it with kids though. It's pretty simple, they should be fine at that age. Recommend house ruling 1 points card per fish caught, gives some incentive to keep trying once you've been caught.
>>54920807
I have to wonder why instead of making shit board games like these make some Legendary Encounters: Terminator games?
