The Elder Pantheon is one of the oldest religions observed by the Viridian Order, with a history of over a thousand years of tales passed on from Skysinger to Skysinger. This faith is one that is primarily worshiped by the Ingulans of the Moonlight Plains and a few devotees scattered across the continent and some of the lands beyond the Gaping Sea. While it remains the smallest when the time comes to count worshipers and adherents, there is no shortage of theological meaning and metaphor to be discovered in its two-thousand year oral history.

This book shall cover the faith in its entirety, but I shall present to you a brief summary of its main belief.

The faith maintains that the known world was brought into being by the union of the sibling gods Ingur, Molder of the Earths, and Ingur, the Infinite Sky, in the wake of Ingur’s battle with the primordial Beast of Chaos and its eventual sundering. Using its carcass as the foundation, Ingur built upon the Beast using the Aether, the raw materials of Creation, in order to form the Earth.

Satisfied upon the completion of his work, he took his sister Ingul and copulated with her as the earth beneath them cooled. For seven days and nights, their lovemaking brought both life upon the barren earth. Ingul’s tears shed on the first night fell to the earth to create the first lakes and rivers, and where Ingur’s seed fell, forests and plants would spring to life. But to keep things brief, the Earth was finished in seven days, and the Elder Gods marveled at the result of their spent passion.

While the advance of time has not been kind to its faithful, most notably that of the Crimson Tyrant’s near genocide of the Ingulans, they still maintain a strong, if not noticeable, presence on Kaithe.

Perhaps the most noticeable difference between the Faith of the High Gods and that of the Oratory of Light is how their manifestations of faith reveal truths that these faiths have either glossed over or outright overlooked. For example, the female body is celebrated in ways that most of Kaithe find uncomfortable, in more ways than one. Ritual dances have a taste of the erotic, adding hip swinging and pelvic gyrations to the movements of clerical dancing.

Worshipers believe that this pleases the Elder Gods because it encourages the act that allows life to flourish and grow. The female body, according to Skysingers (Ingulan priestesses), is the epitome of life. It is the warmth of the woman’s womb that lovingly receives the seed from her husband, nurtures the soul the gods have granted unto her, and the milk of her breast is the ambrosia that sustains the child’s life.

Ingul granted all females this life-giving gift under the orders of Ingur. By granting humans the gift of sex, they freed humanity from the slavery of the gods. Humans no longer had to petition the gods for children; they could make their own progeny of their own volition. Access to life meant access to knowledge, wisdom, virtue and goodness. And the link between all of that is the woman.

It's based on a theory that the TITANs were using the heads for something, so I think in general like, the semi-random actions of the heads which are all networked as part of the computer are supposed to generate data to be interpreted as some kind of higher meaning.

Keeping in mind the guy who made it is just fucking crazy. The book doesn't even say it actually does anything, just that it's a freaky thing to run into.

While we're lounging around our dorm, there's a huge knock at the door--like, "rattling the foundation of the building, and it's a big building" knock. Altea goes to check, and at the door is Achilles, hair as fabulous as ever, dressed in a sharp suit. With him is a mysterious woman with long white hair, also conservatively dressed and with a sour expression on her face.

Altea lets them in, and they arrive at our dorm room, where we all meet Achilles and his friend. She introduces herself as Archon Athena. While Altea is her usual self...

...after a moment Claire goes stock still as she realizes exactly who this lady is. She's one of the four most powerful people from Hyperion--literally the civilian head of their government, as opposed to the three military branch heads.

Tazzari was scared to death at first, because she couldn't detect the Archon by any means other than "by sight," but it was her paranoia (she was afraid it was Mneme, masquerading).

The Archon implies that she and Achilles are present on Mid for an investigation into the events surrounding the critical injury to Strategos Plouton...but Altea is blind to implications. When Athena says so obliquely, Achilles grins.

The reason the pair came to us, specifically, is because of our involvement in that affair. Athena needs more data. (Side note: she's also driving several robot bodies from an unknown centralized location. That's how she multitasks EVERYTHING to do with Hyperion's economy and infrastructure.) We sit down and explain to her what went on, including the words that Indra's body spoke when she went haywire and stabbed the Strategos:

Those words seem to trouble her greatly, but exactly why, she won't say--it's classified.

So after this, we give her our earnest hope that war can be avoided, and though she has no love for the Bureau (her words) she knows it's not a fight they can win, either, so she doesn't want it either...and Achilles starts to grin.

This COMPLETELY blindsides her--after she makes a big deal about herself being all-knowing--and Altea cheers that he gets to come on vacation with us as well. Eventually Athena agrees to make the arrangements, and then it's time to leave for Francisco!

While we wait in the spaceport for the civvie transport to haul us away, Alexa double-takes and spots someone else in the crowd nearby, seemingly studiously not paying us any attention--a dark-haired whip of a girl with yellow eyes. It's the same assassin who tried to kill Alexa during the tournament. Suspicion abounds, but no daggers are flying yet, so whatever.

Achilles appears under a tower of luggage that he has no trouble holding, but Altea (of all people) explains to him that "carry-on" luggage is what the SHUTTLE can carry, not HIM. She had the same problem, after all. So we pile into the shuttle...and oh look, Keira (the assassin) is right there, and apparently supremely surprised to see us, given her shocked profanity.

All the more shocked when Achilles stomps onboard in his usual cheery fashion.

And shocked even more when Ivory just *appears* out of the shadows in the seat next to her to say hi, then fades away again. (Ivory had arrested her last time.)

Sweet, good to see this again.

Ser Lucas Longwaters screws his face up in confusion and Ser Wesley Hayford breaks into laughter at the jape. You smile inwardly and wave it off, lest your cousin offends with his tongue. The last thing you needed was another man with a sword and poor intent at your back. Your face turns to a sour look as you recall the ruin that was Ser Ambrose Oatwright’s face after the melee, errant sword swing they said, a mistake, a tragedy. Words meant to placate you and the rest of your Knights, a gesture that did little to such ends. Ser Titus Sarsfield and Ser Jon Pryor had been furious enough when you recalled them, even more so upon hearing Ambrose’s killer, Ser Gerion Hightower, had won the melee in the end. The two senior Knights had been upon you immediately when you had returned to the pavilion from your short meeting with Lord Mace Tyrell. Lord Tyrell had sent an escort of men-at-arms and Knights including Ser Olymer Tyrell to collect your witnesses and evidence for safekeeping in Highgarden’s dungeons and vaults before the trial. Your Knights, squires, and servants sat quiet as the men collected Marcelline and Ser Lyonel Langly only to break into an uproar as soon as they were out of sight and ear.

Ambrose’s body had sat in the corner of the tent, tended to by Maester Benjin, whose efforts did little. Lucas stood over his Knight, his man, fury evident in his eyes, his voice had calmed the clamor, calling the men to order, cowing their voices and tempering their fury if only for a moment. All eyes looked upon you, wishing for answers, a boon you granted at length. They knew of your war against Royce Redward, the Langwards, the Blounts. They were there to shatter the Princewood’s ‘bandits’ alongside you. They knew of the attempt upon Ser Mason Flowers’ life, the poison upon Samuel Hayford’s side, the saboteur that had murdered Obella’s handmaiden and lived among your Household. Of your uncle’s letter, of the unbannered men that sat with siege engines upon your borders, threatening women and newborn babes in your absence. They knew of the pieces, but not of the whole, not of the end. Why there was greater purpose behind your coming to the Tourney in Highgarden than just to feast and fight. They listened, they understood, they felt your own fury, of the men who hide in shadows with dark intent upon their blades, of those that had made their presence known already with bold actions written off as accidents and poor luck. Of the seven that you knew so little of, the words of Prince Oberyn Martell being lost upon you.

“Seven my Lord?” Benjin interrupted during your speech causing eyes to draw to him, “As in the aspects of the Faith?”

“No,” you respond curtly, “No… Seven men, allies I would suppose? Or those with cause to band together against me. Prince Oberyn did not mention more than…” you trail off thinking upon his words, you did not know your histories half as well as you should, but Benjin did. You snap your fingers, stopping your pace about the tent, “Benjin. Prince Oberyn mentioned that in recent history the number seven had been important, at least two times that stood out to him. Do you recall any such occasions?”

Benjin pulls upon the copper link of his chain pondering for a brief moment, “I am surprised you do not recall my Lord. Your brother, Donold, and yourself were both very fond of the story in your youth. A dispute between Ser Duncan the Tall and Prince Aerion Targaryen, cumulating in a..?”

“Trial of Seven,” you finish, the sudden realization settling in like a stone thrown into a pond, “Linden Langward is going to call for a Trial of Seven. His men have been targeting my own, our allies in an attempt to whittle away at our chances. Seven Hells....”

“I count twenty odd good men here and ready to fight by your side Brynden,” Lucas pipes in, his Knights joining his voice in the affirmative.

“And family,” Ser Lucerys Celtigar says.

“Both old and new,” Ser Raymun Chelsted adds.

The tent again throws into an uproar, your Knights shouting their vows to serve, those willing to put their lives upon the line to fight for your House. To bring Linden Langward to justice. Those willing to stare into the darkness that cloaked your enemies, both known and unknown, and dare it to strike at them.

“Let them come Brynden. It is a desperate man that sees the ship is burning and rather than jumps into the ocean and live, decides to lead his ship and men into a suicidal crash against his enemies,” Lucas says over the clamor, his voice resonating over the rest, bringing them to heel, “So long as even one of us stands we will fight by your side until the bloody end. We ride with you, unto the Sunset.”

“UNTO THE SUNSET,” your Knights echo, their voices adding fuel to the spark that murmered in your chest.

Wesley had joined you and Lucas on your walk to submit late entry into the Tourney, Lucas had filled him in on the details during your walk, you having to chime in with minor words here and there. Upon coming to the line before the registration table the topic of conversation had turned to the Trial itself.

Do "fight" cards, like Prey Upon trigger Lifelink, Deathtouch, etc?

Can Sin Prodders ability damage be redirected to Planeswalkers?

If a creature is targeted with a removal spell and is blinked, like by Eldrazi Displacer, will it still die?

If a play has an Ob Nixilis Reignited emblem and I use Chandra, Flamecaller's 0 ability to discard 7 draw 8, will the emblem trigger once or 8 times?

First, none of those are triggers. Second, it depends on the ability! Lifelink and Deathtouch work just fine with Fight, because they work on any damage. Combat-centric abilities (Flying, First Strike, Trample, etc) won't work with Fight.

It can. Any time a source you control would deal non-combat damage to an opponent, you can redirect 100% of that damage to a planeswalker they control on resolution. Sin Prodder's ability does non-combat damage, and you control the source, so it meets the requirements for Planeswalker redirection.

Targeted removal, no. Any time an object changes zones, even if only for a moment, it becomes a new object with no memory of, or relation to, its previous selves. You may be using the same physical card to represent it, but technically the game treats it as a whole other object, so the spell won't hit it.

Eight times. "Draw 8 cards" is actually "Draw a card" repeated 8 times. If Ob Nixilis' emblem was only intended to trigger once at a time, it'd say "Whenever a player draws one or more cards".

You look around the home you enter. Cozy place, about what you'd expect for a small home on a seaside village. A few trophy catches on the walls, some photographs, fishing lines... and strangely, mushrooms and a small stuffed raccoon. And then a voice calls from another room. "Lynna, I was getting worried! Ya haven't been sneaking off to find boys again have ya?"

Your friend's hand makes its acquaintance with her face. "Daaaaad."

A large, round man walks in, laughing. "I know, I know, can't help a father's teasing, can ya?" He takes notice of you. "...Oh. So it's girls this time?"

Her face reddens as her hand moves down from it, an annoyed glare directed at the man. "Dad, must you?"
