I want to do a dark tower prequel campaign (gunslingers dispatching law and order in the name of Gilead, the civilized bastion of humanity)

I want to represent the clash of values from the capital, (allegedly source of all virtue) vs the colonized unstable borders (wild but with their own ways, truths, rules, etc); so not all wildlings are willing to cooperate, even though Gilead supposedly is all help to their ways of living (they ensue safety, progress, etc).

Which are some situations in which I can represent that clash of beliefs, besides "My gods are better than yours"?
Which choices can I put before the players so they have something to think about instead of "I go in, shoot the shit, i go out?

Also, I know that /tg/ likes to reccomend Dogs in the Vineyard for all Dark Tower needs, but I see it as an unnecesary mess and I already have a system for it.
I only need some examples on how to make it more interesting.

Just browsing in to say that the first few books were good, then king just went full retard and it all ended just so badly
The final 3 books were complete and utter garbage. You can certainly tell he wrote his best stuff in his younger years and later in life just gave up on being a good, coherent writer.
That goes for all his works really: unabridged version of the stand that was printed in the 80ies was great, the first few dark tower novels he wrote in the same timeframe were great. Anything he's written in the last 20-25 years is absolute shit.

Yes.
Yet the 8th Book on the Dark Tower is back to amazing.
I think it was like he wrote 5 6 and 7th in a hurry because he thought he was going to die anytime soon

Religious thought contrary to the orthodoxy. Funnily enough heresies arise when they see other people as corrupt and strayed from the path, and want to worship the Right and Proper way the god originally intended.

Assuming magic exists in a world similar to our own, which of these two systems of government would prevail in an all out war?

I reckon it's a matter of quantity(Theocracy) against quality(Magocracy)

I think I've managed to stat a Commissar in 5e using only Adventurer's League approved material.
Let me know what you think.
>Commissar Anon

Level 4 Figher/Champion

Variant Human:
>+1 Dex
>+1 Cha
>Feat: Crossbow Expert
>(Ignore Loading, Ignore close quarters, Can shoot as a bonus action when you attack)

Fighting Style:
>TWF/Dueling

>Go for the other at next opportunity

Stats:

>8 Str
>16 Dex
>13 Con
>10 Int
>10 Wis
>16 Cha

At level 4
>Feat: Sharpshooter
(Base +10 damage to every ranged attack at the cost of -5 accuracy, Ignore Half and 3/4 cover)

With your awesome charisma, get those filthy peasants to do your bidding and BLAM them when they try to run.
Alternatively swap the Con and Cha for more Tanky-ness
Can also swap Dueling for Archery if you want to TWF Hand Crossbows.

Been reading over the various bits of Necron fluff, particularly Cryptek Ozkan the Codifier and his experiments, has anything been written about him seeing Primaris marines? Do you think they are what he is looking for?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>54868754
here's is part of the relevant fluff on him from Deathwatch - The Outer Reach:

Unbeknownst to Overlord-Regent Ahhotekh, Ozkan has remained loyal to his Phaeron throughout the tumultuous events of the awakening of the Hollow Sun. Under the guise of carrying out the regent’s orders, the Cryptek has, in fact, been seeking a means of investing a Necron consciousness into a body of flesh and bone and, in so doing, of reclaiming all they once had. Ozkan’s researches and secret experiments have led him to the conclusion that only a body as strong and as tough as a Necron’s living metal frame will provide a suitable vessel for such a reawakening, and this can be attested to by the numerous failed experiments hidden deep within his chambers. Locked within the lambent glow of pulsing stasis chambers are to be found rank after rank of once sentient beings, including humans, Orks, Eldar, Tau, and a dozen others, each of which has had a Necron consciousness transferred into its mind. In each case, the body has proven too weak, or the mind too strong for the process, and the Codifier has failed, creating some hideous, mindless insane creature more terrible still than a Flayed One.

But of late, Ozkan the Codifier has come to believe he has discovered a mortal shell strong enough to contain the consciousness of a Necron. Though rare, he even holds that these apex specimens of organic perfection might even be sufficient to host the consciousness of the Crimson Scythe. The body Ozkan has identified is, of course, that of the Adeptus Astartes, the sacred, post-human form wrought by the Emperor himself to serve as the champions of mankind.

To date, Ozkan has not been able to capture a living Space Marine, so he has not had the opportunity to test the veracity of his blasphemous theories. He has, however, come into possession of the bodies of several fallen Battle-Brothers—those that fell undertaking the mission led by the outcast Inquisitor Thaddeus Hakk.

>>54868799
You have a twofold problem.

One, Cryptek Ozkan the Codifier is a FFG content character. His story was meant for the GM to explore. He is meant to be used in crafting the campaigns narrative.

Two, as FFG discontinued their GW related content because they are dicks, the fluff and plotline they wrote for their RPG books won't go anywhere.

>>
>>54867249

Depends on the style of the game. For something simple and rules light, Feng Shui is pretty good. If you want something a bit more meaty, Legends of the Wulin is fantastic, if troubled. I wrote up a more thorough overview in >>54864647 and >>54864655

Although I will say that the core book includes the kung fu styles 'Storm God's Fury' and 'Heaven's Lightning', which seem made for characters like that.

Who are Your Dudes, tg? I'll start.

The Warmaster's Own are a strike force assembled from elements of several Sons of Horus companies, including the elite Justaerin, 10,000 years before the present day. Sent to strike at Imperial logistics prior to the Siege of Terra, a twist of fate saw them lost in a Warp storm plaguing the space lanes. After what felt to them like mere hours, they emerged from the Great Rift in Imperium Nihilus. Shocked and thoroughly confused by the Warp's roar, they made all speed to the nearest planet. Finding it under attack by daemonic Astartes in unfamiliar black and gold armor, after some debate they fell on the gibbering monsters. Having long since eliminated all viable resistance on the planet, the Black Legion warband was completely unprepared for a sudden Cataphractii assault on their stolen headquarters. Far too preoccupied sating their murder-lust and deranged whimsy on the helpless populace to maintain discipline, they were overcome in less than half an hour. Those not killed out of hand were tortured for information, and did not take long to crack.

Gioun Haestros, former Sergeant of the Justaerin and de facto leader of the impromptu warband, was aghast at what he heard. Horus the Warmaster was dead, his armies dissolved, and his position claimed by Haestros' own former Captain. The Son of Horus was appalled by the gloating Black Legionnaire, seeing in him not power gained but abomination. This new "Black Legion" was nothing more than a twisted band of puppets, dancing obediently to the mocking laughter of the Dark Gods. Without any further orders, without a commander he acknowledged, Haestros concluded that the only way he could honor his Primarch was to first free his former brothers from the Dark Gods' grip, and then continue the true crusade against the False Emperor.

(2/2)
Since that day the newly-dubbed Warmaster's Own has waged a perpetual guerilla war against the Black Legion and Imperium simultaneously. Deeply aware that they are impossibly outnumbered, the warband remains fleet-based and mobile. Acutely aware of their need for resources and lack of friends, they have on occasion taken to playing the role of a fleet-based loyalist Chapter they have dubbed the Evergreen Brotherhood. Acting as a sudden reinforcement to Imperial worlds under threat from Abaddon's lickspittles, in the aftermath they cheerfully help themselves to recruits, slaves, fuel, and ammunition from the grateful and blissfully unaware lackies of the Corpse Emperor. It is in his guise as Chapter Master of the Brotherhood that Haestros has acquired the title of "the Liberator", which he has taken a liking to for a completely different reason.

In battle, to make up for their small numbers, the Warmaster's Own deploy heavy weapons squads shielded by implacable screens of Cataphractii Terminators. Assault squads on Jump packs herd enemies from the flanks into the teeth of their heavy guns. Supplementing the Astartes is the ragtag Cult of the Liberator, deluded mortals and "tithed" guardsmen who believe ferverently in the Haestros' sainthood in the eyes of the God Emperor. The deception grates at the ancient traitor, but the warband's need for manpower is too great.

My Dudes are in the Early Stages of Being made out but I guess I'll share what I got (no pictures yet, as they're not done being painted)
The Burdened Sons are an Imperial Fist successor chapter from the Second Founding
Their First Chapter Master was a IF Captain, Dagda Culain, who lived through the Siege of Terra, the Iron Cage, and the Codex Astartes.
All of his memories of the Siege, the Cage, and the Splitting of the Legions are stored in the Throne of Dagda, at the heart of their citadel, the Brun a Boine. When an initiate sits on the Throne, they experience the long history and pain carried by the Sons of Dorn.
They carry a long grudge as a Chapter, and a desire for vengeance, to right the wrong that they feel has been done to them.
Their Chief Librarian, Ekimmar Gael, seeks a way to control the Legion of the Damned, what he feels is the purest form of vengeance, and find some way to harness them to deploy onto Battlefields fromt he beginning, to prevent battles from being so hopeless in the first place. As such, the Chapter often goes to the most hopeless and desperate edges of the Imperium in search of the Legion of the Damned.

They're my idea for Celtic Marines, and still need a little roughing out

I posted this in the awg thread but I think it needs its own discussion.

why are companies going from metal to flat boring as single piece plastic? that shit completely removes it from being a hobby? let's not kid ourselves, plastics are not as good and metal. for years people have been "plastic is just as good" or "it's get better eventually" NO, no it doesn't and that is just plastic in general but now going with single piece plastic?
